Bonus Halloween Blog #50 Cinemassacre's Monster Madness 2022

Happy Halloween everyone, I'm XboxClown89. I knew if I had to do more bonus Halloween blog entries. I had to talk about Cinemassacre's Monster Madness marathon this year. Honestly, it wouldn't be Halloween if I didn't discuss or even reference this much. I'm a huge James Rolfe fan, I do look forward to when he does Monster Madness marathons.

1. Rob Zombie's The Munsters (2022) Review
I won't say much about the actual movie because I already reviewed it in full detail. I will say a few notable things. His opinion of the film was notably different from mine, I have no problem with that. I was a little surprised he reviewed the movie. I felt he did a good job breaking down the movie. It was a good start to what's coming.

2. Halloween (1978) The Movies Within the Movie
I should've seen this one coming a mile away. He made it a very interesting video. Just imagine if those movies were perfectly timed with the events of Halloween. Honestly, I loved the very concept itself. It's not often people would have similar topics. Usually stuff like that comes out of boredom. But in itself is a rather interesting topic that seems to go down the rabbit hole.

3. Deadstream (2022) Review
I wanna clarify I haven't seen the movie but it does seem like something. You may consider watching for a good time. I felt his review was on point based on what was shown in the video. It's difficult to imagine a movie centering on a scary livestream plot. Of course, the right balance of humor would go a long way for a movie like this.

4. My Tribute to Roger Corman: The King of B Movies
This is an example how you can make great movies on low budgets. The stuff Rolfe mentioned about this guy got me interested. It is a shame people like this sometimes goes unnoticed later in time. Especially the very people who put the walkway down for everyone else to cross. So I felt Rolfe shown proper respect for the man himself.

5. Halloween Ends (2022) Review
I also previously reviewed this however I do have some additional stuff I wanna add. Someone started a petition to have the film remade is quickly getting a lot of signatures already within the five digits. Also another major complaint I kept seeing online is how similar this & Christine film was. As someone who now seen both films with Christine being first, I actually felt that's a fair point.

Keep in mind, Christine was also a Carpenter film. Not even long following the very Stephen King book it's based on came out. Personally, I strongly felt Christine is the better movie. As for Rolfe, I felt a large amount of his points mirrored myself towards the film. Now learning the director previously knew the film was upset fans but chose to continue on isn't helping things either.

6. Werewolf by Night (2022) Review
This is a weird choice on several accounts. This is more of an Halloween special on Disney+. It isn't even an hour long which Rolfe kept bringing up. The direct theme felt out of place with everything else within the same Marvel universe. I felt Rolfe did a good job with the actual review. I may wanna see it but I simply had too many movies I had to see this month alone.

I will say I should've also seen this coming. I knew for years, Rolfe was a huge fan of classic Universal monster films. To me, this fits in Monster Madness very well. It is disappointing about the werewolf usage. At the same time, Rolfe did a good job selling the movie with the review. I felt Marvel should do more similar story specials for Halloween.

7. Spirit Halloween The Movie (2022) Review
Although it is similar to both The Curse of Bridge Hollow & Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween. Despite the fact, it came out before The Curse of Bridge Hollow. Surprisingly, the film has Christopher Lloyd. Whose among one of my favorite actors ever. I do respect the concept of being trapped inside a costume store.

If a movie came out back when I was a kid, Probably would've love it. Honestly, I do respect Rolfe covered a movie families could enjoy. It is so easy to change it into something more serious as well as terrifying. I confess I never actually been inside that costume store. The closest one I been in a couple times was Party City.

I can't say I was surprised Rolfe covered this movie. After all, it does fit in with the holiday. You got one of the biggest actors despite how low he's in the actual film. Not only that, he does have two daughters. He could easily enjoy rewatching it with them closer to Halloween. Honestly, I'm glad he did say some nice things about the movie.

Update: I had not a great Halloween. Also I gave up waiting for the last video for Cinemassacre's Monster Madness. I hope based on what I know of him, I matched how I imagine his thought on the upcoming movie review. I apologize if he ends up delivering the exact opposite response to the film in question.

Also for future reference, no more covering Monster Madness on Halloween night. This stroke a limit, so the following day starting next year I'll discuss those. Honestly, I really did try to be very patient. Sadly, I felt like I couldn't do that. My wife is more important than this. I know it's not Rolfe's fault for this but it was a must needed change in plans.

Update: there's no word what happened. We don't even know if the video got delayed or canceled. I been checking a few accounts of theirs. I still felt terrible about the situation. For the present we got to consider his review on Spirit Halloween The Movie video was the end of Monster Madness. Until we may get official word what's going on.

Conclusion
Obviously he had a busy year, he used several streaming services to his advantage. Honestly I won't judge that because it's Halloween. Also, Monster Madness marathon was just interesting. I felt he done one creative video within the line up. I am glad to hear his thoughts on a handful of these movies myself.

I also hope Rolfe & his family has a great Halloween. I plan to hand out candy despite the rain. I will say this it wouldn't be Halloween with this as well as Halloween AVGN episode. A quick shout out on that, Doom episode is one of my favorite Halloween AVGN episodes to date. Back to this, Monster Madness made all recent stuff for the most part interesting in his own way.

Update: 11:23PM, I checked a few websites. The last Monster Madness video isn't up yet. You can't blame me for doing the backup plan now.

Bonus Halloween Blog #49 my thoughts on Not It and Treehouse of Horror 33

Warning this will be a lengthy blog post, please take as many breaks needed to fully read this.

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, a little heads up tomorrow will be the conclusion blog entry to those bonus Halloween blog entries. Of course, I'm not done talking about The Simpsons. I know some Simpsons fans may be curious to hear my thoughts on both Halloween episodes this year. So why not I'm going to give my thoughts on both of them right before Halloween itself.

Not It
For me, this was a huge deal. Usually Treehouse of Horror episodes does three short stories within an episode. This is the first time they do a bonus stand alone Treehouse of Horror episode. Honestly, I already was hyped to see this one. I previously seen both IT movies. I was rather curious to see how they would go about parodying one of Stephen King's stories.

If you recall way back in Treehouse of Horror 5, one of the short stories was called The Shinning. Which was a parody of Stephen King's The Shining. To most Simpsons fans, that's often considered the best Treehouse of Horror story ever done. So obviously, this one had huge clown shoes to fill. I am also trying to keep this as spoiler free as possible.

Right off the bat, I would say story wise it's one of my favorite Treehouse of Horror stories yet. I would even say it's decent enough to compare to the classic older Treehouse of Horror episodes. You know the ones everybody still talking about. I strongly felt in every possible way, they really knocked it out the park.

Krusty is Krusto in this parody story, I felt he done a great job parodying Pennywise. Obviously, this is currently the longest Treehouse of Horror story. Considering both movies were a few hours long separately. I don't think we miss anything critical. I loved how they made this parody their own. This easily could've went wrong like some later Treehouse of Horror episodes.

I also can say this was better than IT mini series. I didn't find it to be rushed out in comparison. It actually held up very well in Part 2. Don't worry anything bad that happens is already done in a way. It won't be as scarring as something like Hellraiser, Final Destination, The Thing (1982) or Terrifier. Not It was a decent parody that was faithful enough to the source material.

At the same time, The Simpsons made such scary movies into a great fun time you can have with your families. I will say the jokes more often hit than miss like a lot of newer Halloween episodes. I think Mr. King should be proud of their work. They picked the right moments to turn into their own version of the story.

I will be honest, compared to a lot of more recent parody movies I seen. This was more entertaining than those by a long shot. Not It is easily one of my favorite Treehouse of Horror stories ever told. You can bet I would rewatch that easily. I don't even have criticism since they did such a great job. I don't even think it needed to be longer or short, it just nailed the perfect length.

If that's not crazy enough for you. Then how about this unexpected movie comparison. As many of you know The Hobbit is a part of The Lord of the Rings franchise. The older movie did a similar route to Not It just not as comical. Years later, three movies of The Hobbit came out. Combined that's virtually close to 2/4 of your week just to fully watch em back to back.

Personally, I felt the older movie was a more fair length. Sure it's missing parts of the story. But who wants to put that much time into watching movies? Clearly both IT movies are notably shorter than The Hobbit movies. But my point is you don't felt cheated with a good length. Thus, it is actually easier to rewatch when you want to.

Not It is also a great parody title choice for this. In all honestly, everyone who worked on this particular Simpsons episode. Please give yourself a huge pat to the back in a good way. You can tell I'm very impressed by it. I hope it does well enough for them to do another Treehouse of Horror episode of that style in the near future.

Treehouse of Horror 33
I never thought I was going to say this. Easily one of my favorite Treehouse of Horror episodes ever. They had a writer for each story which they haven't done in a long time. Honestly, I'm deeply mind blown it was that good. The Pookadook is a parody of the movie The Babadook. Surprisingly, they nailed everything so perfectly.

To clarify, the last time they done each story by a different writer was around twenty years ago. So if you're wondering why a lot of them seems rushed, uninspired or just poorly executed. You know why now, Treehouse of Horror 33 is one of the most solid recent entries to date. You really couldn't go wrong with either Halloween Simpsons episodes this year.

Marge gets possessed then attempts to kill Maggie. I felt this was a good homage to the earlier Treehouse of Horror episodes. I can't even criticize it because even the jokes were notably funny. You felt sorry for Maggie for most of the story. In all honestly, this was better than I originally expected it to be.

Death Tome is a parody of the anime series Death Note. Not too long ago, I reviewed Death Note anime myself. I strongly felt they nailed this incredibly well. I would even say this was easily one of the funniest Treehouse of Horror stories they ever done. The animation style was very on point with the anime they're parodying.

Bart gets to be the character L in this parody, strangely it worked despite things. Steven whose a shinigami a parody of the shinigami Ryuk was a great character too. I won't spoil any of the endings but they're not what you're expecting at all. There's no question, this was my favorite out of the three stories.

Simpsonsworld is a parody of the show Westworld. If you are a huge Simpsons fans, you're going to love all the references. I am not kidding, it's so filled with references of older Simpsons episodes. I liked a handful of the robots based on The Simpsons family went rogue. I loved they were surrounded by an army of robot Ralphs.

Yeah Ralph, one of the dumbest yet lovable characters on the show. It kinda reminded me of another similar concept story with Homer clones. As a Simpsons fan, this story was more interesting than expected. People indirectly got themselves harm up to a point. You knew they weren't the actual Simpsons family.

At the same time, you felt sorry for the pain they felt realizing they aren't real. Now knowing this, they simply wanna live their existence. Although, I previously stated to not directly spoil any endings. I really gotta mention the two most surprising jokes in the entire episode. Very late into Simpsonsworld, we learned there's more than one cartoon show domes.

I was able to quickly memorize all the other cartoon show domes. We have Futurama, Bob's Burgers, Big Mouth, South Park, SpongeBob, Family Guy and Rick & Morty. Most of these sure but I was deeply surprised they also done Big Mouth dome too. The episode ends with another animation change. One of the aliens you love gets freaked out but this entire session was awesome looking.

Futurama getting a third run on Hulu next year, Family Guy still on their third run. Most of these are still going on their first runs. Stuff like Rick & Morty, Family Guy, South Park and Big Mouth are pretty mess up shows. Of course, I love this easter egg joke reference to those shows. Honestly, I would've requested for American Dad dome but chances are it's already included in Family Guy dome.

Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show are within the same universe. The Simpsons and Futurama are also confirmed to be within the same universe too. SpongeBob does has a few short lived spin off shows. Big Mouth also gotten a spin off show called Human Resources which is in the same universe. You can tell I watch a lot of adult sitcom shows lol.

Let's be honest, any of those shows could revisit the very joke in their own way. Rick & Morty's take would probably be the most confusing yet craziest by far. SpongeBob's take would make the least sense due to how broken the characters are. Honestly, I loved the concept they made domes to recreate some of our favorite shows.

I felt this particular Treehouse of Horror episode held up amazingly well right off the bat. I actually found it to be quite refreshing compared to the last couple of episodes excluding Not It. All three stories was told very well that was perfect for their length. I would say The Pookadook comes off as being the scariest story.

If they would've saved it rather than doing it first. I felt the episode wouldn't have done nearly as well. I am deeply impressed with this Treehouse of Horror episode. Death Tome was one of the finest parodies on Death Note I ever seen. The jokes not only fits in perfectly but also felt like a good mixture with The Simpsons.

Honestly, among the more recent Treehouse of Horror episodes as well as Treehouse of Horror 30s episodes. This is among the best of those in both categories. Simpsonsworld quickly got interesting, it didn't slow down with the craziness. The Pookdook likely impressed people who were huge fans of The Babadook.

Conclusion
I really didn't expect both Halloween Simpsons episodes to be this damn good. I really can't criticize either Halloween episode. Both of them help pushed the bar among more recent Treehouse of Horror episodes. Honestly, I am deeply blown away on the work done to both of these. It's been a while since Treehouse of Horror episodes been this damn good.

Not It was easily one of the finest horror movie parodies they ever done. All three stories parodying something else. Very luckily nailed them all perfectly with the ratio in every possible way. It's even a hard debate which Halloween episode was slightly better. On one hand, Not It was one long story that's done amazing well.

In vice versa, we had three stories done just as well. Which makes trying to pick the better Halloween Simpsons episode more difficult. After much needed consideration, I would say Treehouse of Horror 33. Yes Not It was a great parody of It. I just felt the way they parodied those stuff was closer to perfection.

For example, a rule in Death Tome is you can't kill another person the same way. One of my favorite scenes is when Light does writes a lot of names down killing a lot of people with a great song. They recreated it with Lisa but added in more creativity to make it further stand out. I also can say the same for The Pookadook for Maggie having to defend herself against her mom.

Not to mention, Simpsonsworld is a huge blast of nostalgia. A lot of classic, rememberable moments on the show. We get to quickly relive all those moments. Now that's something truly impressive. Obviously, it's very easy to screw such an concept up. But somehow they actually pulled it off incredibly well.

By the way, there's one last Bonus Halloween Blog entry coming. Right now it's a waiting game but I should get it finish before kids starts coming around for candy.

Bonus Halloween Blog #48 My Halloween story involving two haunted places in one night

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I actually got an interesting Halloween story to tell here. This is the story how my group went from a haunted bus tour to suddenly visiting two of the most haunted places in Pennsylvania. Of course, this occurred on Halloween making it truly special. You may be curious to fully hear that night from my point of view.

I will start telling a story I always wanted to tell here for years. I was in a group with disabilities. We were in a long ride going into PA. Eventually, the person in charge of the group had to talk to the company. There was a misunderstanding, we were suppose to be on an haunted bus ride. It took a little while, the company decided since we're very close to two of the most haunted locations in PA.

As a group went on a tour to both locations. The first stop was the very place where the only civilian kill during the Battle of Gettysburg. It technically was an accident that turned into a surprising shot that wasn't meant for a woman. Who was cooking at the time of death. We got to learn about the family while we explored their home. Keep in mind, I was in a huge group of people.

We got to explore most of the building together. There was no one wondering off here. Too many horror movies does that, you already knows what happens. We learned about the family who was staying here during the period. Including stuff that followed a notable amount of time after the war. The last family member our tour guide mentioned was the dad.

We were there for a little while I say. Then eventually we move not far to the last haunted location of the night. You will be surprised how close both these particular locations were to each other. We had to cross the road left from the first haunted location to reach the second one. I hope that paints a picture to those who visited both locations.

Yes we got talk about some haunted shows previously filmed by the tour guide. The next haunted location had a more mess up story in comparison. It started with a rather sweet woman who had to left the kids due to promotion. Sadly, the woman who took her place was down right terrible to them. Let's put it this way, we actually had the option to go see where the kids had to use the bath room.

A huge hint, it wasn't even a bath room. We also got to explore what used to be orphanage back in the day. There wasn't as much to see. I do recall a few times at both haunted locations. Our tour guide had the lights turned out. During the light fully coming back I'm sure it was at the second haunted location. I saw a ghost's hand as they went inside the wall.

Our tour guide was very kind, he did answer questions. Of course, he also asked particular questions at both haunted locations. You know to see if you were actually paying attention or not. I been to haunted house attractions a few times before doing either haunted location tours. I still say I'm quite happy from this Halloween night.

I didn't get to pass out candy that year. The web show Death Battle just done Ryu vs Scorpion the same day. It was a surreal experience going to both haunted locations. The best part is it already was better than an haunted bus tour. I never actually been on an haunted bus tour but going by Leprechaun 2 as reference.

I rather go explore actual haunted locations with people than doing that. Of course, I constantly felt a chill in my spine at times during these tours. Especially when the lights were off. Luckily, no one within the group got hurt. We ate on the way down from those haunted location tours. We were lucky to get two of them within one night.

Back then, I really considered I would move out to PA. Which also big on haunted house attractions. Now, I may visit at times but not as much as originally planned. I am happy I got to see both haunted locations in person. Easily, the scariest Halloween night of my life on record. I hope this was an entertaining Halloween story, I been saving this one.

Bonus Halloween Blog #47 My favorite slasher villains in horror

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I think it's time to reveal all the slasher villains I'm a huge fan of. Enough to wanna check out anything they're in. Yes I'm also talking about fan stuff including fan films. Keep in mind, all of these are my opinion. Your favorites could be very different from mine. Hell, you may not be a fan of slasher films at all which is okay.

Before I actually start revealing my favorite killers within horror movies. I want to do an honorable mention section. I know some of these characters are very likely on a lot of people's lists. Don't be too surprised your favorites doesn't appear on the list I'm presenting here. Now I got that out of the way, I will quickly discuss my honorable mentions among slasher villains.

1. Michael Myers from Halloween series
I'm also a huge fan of Michael Myers. I just felt some people doesn't know how to use him properly.

2. Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th series
Jason is a similar situation to Myers but I also love watching him work too. Just the story itself doesn't usually involve Jason in ways that's kinda interesting.

3. Candyman from Candyman series
I'm not racist, I just never been a huge fan of Candyman. I do see how a ghost with bees as well as hooked hand could be scary to some people.

4. Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series
Leatherface is in the same boat as Myers & Voorhees. But I only liked a handful of his movies. So I never been crazy about Leatherface.

I will confess my favorite versions are The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and remake series respectively.

5. Chucky from Child's Play remake
Chucky is a very different character from the original franchise counterpart. He does work amazing well with actor Mark Hamill doing the voice. I just felt in all honestly, I simply preferred the original Chucky more.

6. Captain Spaulding from Firefly series
I confessed I'm a huge Captain Spaulding fan. The character whose among one of the leaders within the family. He doesn't get as much into the action as some family members do. I still say the first two movies made him truly rememberable.

Alright let's go through my list of favorite slasher villains of all time.

1. The Tall Man from Phantasm series
Such an interesting yet unique character. I don't even know what to exactly classified him as. He has an undead army with some interesting abilities. Not to mention, he can come right back after he dies. You know you're dealing with something truly evil. He was a major result why orbs became so scary to people.

2. Blade from Puppet Master series
Blade was popular enough to get his own spin off movie. I always loved Blade since I gotten into the franchise. Sure, there's a couple interesting characters that Blade works with. But Blade not only works amazingly well. He often takes part in most of the big moments within the franchise. He appears almost like a skeleton or a pale small man with two different blade weapons for hands.

3. The Djinn from Wishmaster series
Now we're in for some truly horrific stuff. The Djinn is an evil demonic genie that twists wishes into killing people. Let's just say he is rather creative in delivering punishment to people. Of course, there's some limitations but The Djinn is a truly terrifying magical being. Even angels has trouble fighting this being.

The Djinn is technically limited for what he can do within every wish. But crazier the wish is, the more ridiculousness comes out. For example, a man wished to never be born or forced a lawyer to go screw himself. Yes folks that actually happened in Wishmaster 2. The Djinn is a very twisted being, you have to be extremely careful what you say because it may end up killing you.

4. Art the Clown from Terrifier series
The most recent slasher villain on this line up. Of course, I gotta talk about Art the Clown. He originally appeared in All Hallows' Eve 1 before Terrifier. This clown is one of the most mess up slasher villains I have ever seen. There's no such thing as a quick death for this guy. He wants to enjoy making his victims suffer badly.

5. Pinhead from Hellraiser series
Yes I confess a lot of Hellraiser movies aren't great. Some weren't even originally Hellraiser films. Despite that, most of the character's appearances still works well enough. I even respected the new take on the character whose portrayed by an trans actress. Her performance including the appearance was done incredibly well.

My favorite Pinhead character is still Captain Elliot Spencer. Mostly portrayed by actor Doug Bradley. Also these movies can be quite difficult to watch at times.

6. The Leprechaun from Leprechaun series excluding Leprechaun: Origins
I know a lot of people can be rather mixed on the character. I also know a lot of people including myself loves The Leprechaun. Honestly, it strangely appealing with some humor thrown in. Even watching the creature getting nasty with people, you are more curious what's about to happen. I felt this character even it's technically different leprechauns is quite rememberable.

7. Ghostface from Scream series
Including Scream: Resurrection aka Season 3 on Scream show. A lot of people shared the persona Ghostface. The very concept the killers are dangerous close friends or family is terrifying. I do like how the persona goes about taunting people. Most people who shared the persona are well aware how horror movies works.

8. Pennywise from IT series
One of Stephen King's scariest characters, Pennywise is truly unique. Pennywise plays heavily off of fear from it's victims. Even to the point, he can shape shift into those fears. Pennywise is a powerful being that secretly terrorizes a town for a long time. I felt the character has the potential for more interesting stories.

9. Chucky from Child's Play/Chucky series
Including Chucky show, Chucky is hands down among my top favorites for slasher villains. I really enjoy the character even in the famous crossover commercial with Myers. Chucky is interesting as well as entertaining as hell. Not only that, the stories he's in are usually well written for the most part. Chucky is one I could easily rewatch for hours.

10. Freddy from A Nightmare on Elm Street series
This might not be a huge surprise to some people. My all time favorite slasher villains in horror movies is Freddy Krueger. There's just something about a vengeful murder ghost that stalks people in their dreams. Not only that, Freddy is such a rememberable character too. Like Pennywise, he too can take advantage of his victim's fears to his advantage.

Freddy is very broken within the dream world itself. Yes it's debatable which powers Freddy maintains outside the dream world. I even liked Freddy from Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Which was essentially Freddy's dark side directly terrorizing people who made the films. He even held his own against Jason in a movie that led to two comic book sequels as well.

Yes I'm also aware about Freddy's Nightmares show too. Which had some similarities to Tales from the Crypt show. I also love a lot of cameos including his Walking Dead zombie cameo. Freddy has exactly what he needs to always be refreshing. I still felt A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 was him at his scariest to date.

Conclusion
Yeah I confessed some of my favorite slasher villains has been in not great movies. Characters like Pinhead, Freddy, The Leprechaun, The Djinn and Pennywise can be the stuff of nightmares. I even considered Death from Final Destination series for this. But I went against it since technically those aren't slasher films.

Chucky can split his soul into multiple doll bodies can be scary for some people too. The concept behind Ghostface alone makes the persona terrifying. The Tall Man and Blade are very interesting characters to me. I do like some variety in how they go about things. Art is easily among the most violent with Pinhead respectively.

Honestly, I always held a special connection to horror movies for a long time. I felt this was a long time coming. I know some of these characters aren't for everyone. You are very welcome to comment your own lists of favorites. All I ask if you do is please don't be a prick about it otherwise your comments will be deleted.

Bonus Halloween Blog #46 Remembering Aaahh!!! Real Monsters show

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, today's blog isn't about a review or anything among what I usually do. No I am going to do something very different. I remembered as a kid, there were times I would watch a particular comedy horror show that's on Nickelodeon. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, which could be seen as a precursor to stuff like Monsters, Inc. franchise.

For me, this was a much needed nostalgia trip.

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters (1994-1997)
The show follows a handful of students. I didn't say they're human students either. They are monster students that often go to their freaky school. At times, they leave to either do stuff or scary humans. My favorite out of the three students we often focus on is Oblina. I don't think the show was close as scary as Courage the Cowardly Dog.

It doesn't mean it wasn't scary or at least creepy. Of course, I gotta mention their teacher The Gromble. Who has two assistants The Snorch and Zimbo. Interesting fact about Zimbo, he's actually voiced by Tim Curry. Curry was involved with a lot of stuff during the 90s including The Wild Thornberrys. At times, they reveal stuff to the lore of famous monster figures like Bigfoot.

Another actor Jim Belushi who played Simon The Monster Hunter. Who could be seen as a precursor to Invader Zim character Dib. Belushi voiced in a lot of cartoons during the 90s including KaBlam! & Hey Arnold!. The monsters live within a city dump. If the show were bad, I would've done an obvious trash insult.

This show always stood out in my mind. I do respect the concept of seeing things from monsters' point of view. The show has some similarities to a movie called Little Monsters. I felt this show was better though. You get to see people either afraid of them or ends up being friends to them instead. Obviously, this show easily could be seen as disgusting.

After all, we have characters like Krumm. I would say among the main monsters the show focuses on, he's the most disgusting hands down. Krumm is virtually a monster that kinda similar to a regular hairy human. He is missing a lot of notably body parts. He also has the most disgusting humor too. Krumm is like Ed off of Ed, Edd n Eddy in a few ways.

A good amount of the show does focus a lot on school. Keep in mind, this isn't an educational show. Unless, you consider how to scare or gross people out lol. The Gromble does what he can to protect his students even if he must harm their feelings to do so. The artwork always appealed to me even at a young age.

I still haven't fully watched the show. I did watch a couple episodes a while back. But another major reason I always remembered this show. I also grew up with Aaahh!!! Real Monsters on Sega Genesis. Yes, there's an official video game based on such a show. You can bet I was mind blown as a kid. To be honest, I never gotten far but I always liked a few things about the game.

Like the show, the main students we watch do work as a team. It's actually done better than The Animaniacs on the same console, yes I also grew up with that show too. The artwork looked faithful to the show. I loved the cover picture which is shared on the SNES game too. The title itself, I love it with an passion.

They had guts to call an monster show something like this. Another crazy thing about the show not a lot of people realize. This competed against such younger audience horror shows as Goosebumps & Are You Afraid of the Dark? respectively. A few years competing against both those horror shows. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters won my respect even more.

Even for Nickelodeon, there wasn't many shows like this. Sadly, there's no news about reviving Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. Which is kinda disappointing because it's an monster show centered around monsters. If this show didn't happen, chances are Monsters, Inc. franchise wouldn't even exist. Parts of the concept may be done before the show.

At the same time, it's done in a way you aren't flat out scared. You are rather curious to see what a monster's life is like. Not only that, the characters are rememberable in their own way. They even made a city landfill into one of the coolest locations among Nick Toons. If anything, I felt this show truly deserves respect.

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters lasted four seasons. A lot of crossovers featured monsters from the show. Clearly, Nickelodeon didn't forget about these characters. I also felt it's one of those shows there's something in there someone is going to love very much. I do highly recommend you check out this timeless monster classic show.

Bonus Halloween Blog #45 Shark movies rant

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, today I want to talk about a particular sea creature. Movie companies kept making horror movies out of for years ever since the movie Jaws. A major hint right there, I'm going to do a full rant on Shark movies!!! I can understand a lot of beings among horror stuff. But why so many Shark movies?

Where to begin on this madness? There's a couple shark movies before the original Jaws came out. Somehow, shark movies came something people had to make money out of. A good amount of them rips several aspects from Jaws but done notably worse. We haven't even gotten to the mess up stuff yet. Shark movies is one of the most over done creature film concepts ever.

You can imagine they kept making things weirder. I am not kidding, some of it doesn't even make sense. Like there's a particular shark movie franchise where sharks have multiple heads. Of course, there's another notable franchise Sharktopus that's sharks with pieces of octopuses. Can you believe, we still haven't gotten there yet lol?

There's also another franchise called Sharknados. Now take a guess what that is? If you guessed tornadoes with sharks, you are right. Damn, each Sharknado movie gets more stupider as well as ridiculous. I also got to mention, Shark Exorcist. Which isn't just a Jaws rip off but also directly ripping off The Exorcist? Yeah a demonic shark movie.

Youtuber James Rolfe made two versions of his famous shark movie lists with the more recent version adding in stuff. Even went from the previously Top 40 Worst Shark Movies to Top 50 Worst Shark Movies. You can count on there's virtually an ocean or two filled with these bad shark movies. By now, nearly every species of shark has been done in horror films.

Some shark movies truly breaks the rules for sharks. Like a particular mess up movie, I swear I'm not making up. It is called Dick Shark, let's just say you don't wanna know. Most of us knows not to be in the water when sharks aren't around. But why do we need so many shark movies? It further bags the question why keep making them!!!

What's next a mulversal shark that can only be stunned by making a very complex formula? But the chances of getting the formula to the shark is close to impossible. Now I'm getting stupid ideas, I guess shark movies makes people stupider. At least, that's the general logic behind these movies. Most creatures in horror films has plenty of great rememberable movies.

It strongly felt sharks were never meant for horror movies. Sharks are interesting sea creatures. But most of these is a great disservice to sharks in general. You also got to realize, not many of them are direct mockbusters. Honestly, shark movies is like a disease. Not to mention, majority of them are so poorly done.

You could have a huge collection of bad horror movies that aren't even it's so bad it's so good thing. I'm sure most of them are just palm bad. Shark movies isn't even a huge demand creature horror film concept. Honestly, I felt for those making them to rip people off. For those people, it's just quick money. I think what's even worse is DVDs as well as streaming services are easy for them to get their movies out.

Of course, you know how that process works. They quickly rush out shark movies. They try getting someone people knows, it doesn't always happen. Then they wait for the money to roll in from ripping people off. Which may not be a lot but hey they can always do it again. Which is kinda sad, shark movies is something I can't even stand at the least.

Bonus Halloween Blog #44 Showing respect to Ghost Rider

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I briefly got to talk about Marvel's Ghost Rider. I felt considering Halloween is in a few days. Also a huge fan of skeletons in general. I should do my own giving the character respect blog entry. More recently among powers of a super hero I would love to have despite cons, Ghost Rider came up.

Ghost Rider
To me, the character is potentially the scariest super hero comic book character imaginable. Yes, I am well aware a lot of characters have their own take on the concept. Some doesn't even have the same entities possessing them like Robbie Reyes. For most Ghost Rider characters, they often hunt the supernatural. Most of them appears as a skeleton constantly on hell fire while wearing their clothes.

Ghost Riders are truly terrifying beings to run into. Some of them has the Penance Stare. Where they look into your eyes then you felt all the pain you caused others as you die. There's some exceptions it doesn't work. Most characters does have a vehicle or in a particular Ghost Rider's case a horse. Can you imagine a horse transformed by one while riding through the night?

Some Ghost Rider characters are possessed by the demon Zarathos. Whose on multiversal level, he's so insanely powerful. Beings fighting each other of the same power class can destroy universes. A large amount of abilities is shared among all the characters. Crazy ones like ridiculous regeneration, transforming whatever they touch, summon their vehicle/horse to them plus more.

Ghost Rider does appear in several crossovers as well. Yes I know people often think characters like Batman fits Halloween. I do confess with some of his enemies, it could work. But Ghost Rider with his enemies is perfect for Halloween. He faces a great variety of them on a daily basis. Ghost Rider's vehicles can go ridiculous fast as well.

Parts of their powers does play on their imaginations. Which makes them even more difficult to predict. Ghost Rider is a being not even The Avengers takes lightly. Even in hell, there's plenty afraid of Ghost Riders. Yes, Ghost Rider does have many similarities with Imagine comics, Spawn. I still felt Ghost Rider is potentially more terrifying in comparison.

Yes I have watched both Ghost Rider movies, I could respect what they done. As much I love watching Nicolas cage work, he simply wasn't the guy for the role. I do think Gabriel Luna who portrayed Robbie Reyes on Agents of S. H. I. E. L.D. show nailed his Ghost Rider character perfectly. So I do believe it can be done, personally I want Daniel Ketch's Ghost Rider in a movie.

Ghost Rider can instantly repair anything they altered with ease too. I strongly felt Ghost Rider is a broken character that's still amazingly interesting at the same time. Ghost Rider could handle anything especially if they're driven to take them down. At this point, what else could I possibly say that everyone else haven't already said about Ghost Rider?

In all honestly, Ghost Rider is one of the most bad ass comic book characters I ever seen. You can bet I'm a huge Ghost Rider fan myself. There's some awesome alternate versions of the characters too. Like Cosmic Ghost Rider is like Ghost Rider, The Punisher & Silver Surfer rolled into one. This version even considered as the single most powerful version there is.

Bonus Halloween Blog #43 Dr. Seuss' Halloween is Grinch Night (1977) review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, everyone knows about the famous Christmas special. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the story itself led to two movie adaptations. Now oddly enough The Mean One, a parody horror film take of the story. But not a lot of people knows the original Christmas special gotten a follow up special.

Dr. Seuss' Halloween is Grinch Night (1977)
Although the special itself came out eleven years later. It is technically a prequel to the Christmas special. Sadly, Boris Karloff who originally voiced the character as well as the original narrator passed away in 1969.

Obviously, this one is focus on Halloween. Keep in mind, The Simpsons made Thanksgiving of Horror. Everyone knew about Treehouse of Horror episodes. Sometimes, you don't change the holiday within that concept. It just does not work, the actual singing is notably not comparable to the Christmas special. Another notable thing is unlike the Christmas special, this one wasn't based on a book.

Even how they went about telling the story is lackluster. Not even the narrator helps much either. The animation quality isn't even as impressive in comparison too. There isn't much positives I can say about this Halloween special. For example, it's good seeing the Grinch terrorizing again. Although, they quickly took most of the fun out of it here.

The Whos knows Halloween is Grinch Night. Where he comes to Whoville to terrorize people on Halloween. For him, there's no treats just tricks for everybody. The special itself  is slightly longer than the Christmas special. It felt justified in the Christmas special's case because it worked perfectly. Sadly, not so much here you quickly felt like what's going on vibe.

You just can't seem to connect to it like the Christmas special. Now I wouldn't be comparing the Christmas special so much if it wasn't among the best Christmas specials ever made. Unfortunately, this is quickly forgotten among Halloween specials. Trust me, there's plenty of better Halloween specials as well as Halloween episodes on TV than this.

A Miser Brothers' Christmas, a spin off of the Christmas special. The Year Without a Santa Claus that came many years later kicked this special's ass too. At least, I saw what they attempted to do there. People still talk about the Miser brothers from the Christmas special. It made perfect sense to make a follow up more directly focused on them.

Sadly, Dr. Seuss' Halloween is Grinch Night came out as a cheap cash in to a Christmas special. Even Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer's follow up. Rudolph's Shiny New Year out done that a year earlier. Despite a weird plot for a Christmas/New Years special. The Nightmare Before Christmas nailed doing both Halloween & Christmas, why can't the Grinch?

Later on, this kid upsets the Grinch. He gets the full terror treatment. The way they chosen to display it is like so many Halloween specials. The plot is the Grinch wants to scare people. But most attempts goes towards one kid. Even more than this weird creature, the Grinch previously was going after. I am not going to hide it, this isn't how I would've done an Halloween Grinch special far from that.

I am not saying this is bottom of the barrel. It just a little close to reaching the floor there. I will say this, yes it fails in every possible way. However to me, it's still better than Frosty Returns. Keep in mind that had actors like John Goodman & Brian Doyle-Murray too. Honestly, you really aren't missing much by not watching it.

If you're a Grinch fan at least watch it once. Then don't consider watching it again. I can tell you a second watch isn't worth the punishment. I will say this, it barely airs on television over the years. There's plenty of better stuff to watch with the character too. In all honestly, it felt like they wanted to cash in with the character on another holiday but failed so bad.

Bonus Halloween Blog #42 MediEvil digital comic review (2019)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, a few years ago I briefly mentioned in my MediEvil (PS4) review. Among the additional stuff you can buy with the game is a digital comic book. Well I think it's finally time to give that more proper respect by fully reviewing it here. Honestly, I don't have anything negative to say here.

MediEvil: Fate's Arrow (2019)

The comic itself was written by Chris Sorrell who came up with the story for MediEvil. Sadly following the game, he left the franchise. Although, parts of his designs is still present in MediEvil: Resurrection to a degree. At the beginning of the comic, for fans that always wanted to know which ending in MediEvil 2 was the canon ending.

In a surprising move, it turned out to be neither ending. Sir Daniel with Princess Kiya did use Professor Hamilton's time machine. Unfortunately the machine malfunctioned separating the couple. For Sir Daniel, he got sent back in time during a period. He still was alive while Zarok was an advisor to the king. We get to get to learn stuff we didn't think expect.

Such as Canny Tim was secretly a woman along. Sir Daniel's dog turned out to be a werewolf. If you haven't already figure it out by now. Parts of the story is a sequel but a huge amount of the story also a prequel too. Professor Darrow meets a mysterious figure that tells him all the stuff that happened. The figure in question is Sir Daniel disguised.

Sir Daniel does meet himself but later replaced him for the same battle he originally died in. So parts of the story we gotten from The Hall of Heroes in the original game suddenly lines up. Rather than being built on lies, I like that a lot. Sir Daniel gets an Egyptian eye prosthetic from Kiya. It's sad we don't see the two together again fully.

I will say the way the story was told was done well. The artwork is among the finest in the franchise. Not only that, we get to learn even more about Sir Daniel too. Not as much about Zarok but that's fine. I should point out the Jabberwocky does appear in the comic too. Honestly, it was a decent comic for what it is.

Sadly the closest we'll ever get to MediEvil 3. At least it happened in some form right? MediEvil 2, I still enjoyed myself. Of course, the original will always be my favorite entry but this comic currently my second favorite. It just felt more how the franchise should've went to me. But hey even MediEvil 2 was way better than MediEvil: Resurrection so that's a good sign.

Bonus Halloween Blog #41 Planet Terror (2007) & Death Proof (2007)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I want to talk about the movies that started a movie franchise based on an old movie location concept. Directors Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino came together to make Grindhouse. Essentially Grindhouse itself is two movies with each director making their own horror film.

This led to other directors like Jason Elisener to make Hobo with a Shotgun. Despite things, it's surprisingly a good film. But I'm here to review the very movies that kicked off Grindhouse franchise. Thus I wanna talk about both Planet Terror & Death Proof, two vastly different movies. I'm actually excited to revisit these classics not many people mentions as much anymore.

Before I get to the actual reviews, I got an interesting story relating to Grindhouse. A couple years ago, I went to Bengies Drive-In Theatre with my cousin as well as a friend. Usually they play three movies then we go home. For one particular time, we ended up staying for four movies. The last two being you guess it both halves of Grindhouse film.

I didn't get home until 3 in the morning, my friend already fell asleep. I might've been the only person who didn't feel asleep during the long night. It's quite an experience to watch movies on a huge screen. Bigger than those in movie theatres including IMAX but the audio comes through your car's radio. Man, I never forgotten that night ever since.

Planet Terror (2007)

First half of Grindhouse film is Planet Terror which was done by Rodriguez. I gotta mention something at the time I reviewed a movie called The Faculty. I was very surprised, that was the same director responsible for this. He later made two entries in Machete series which are also part of the franchise they built together.

This has some of the most disgusting zombies in just parts of the appearance you'll ever see. Some of them wears a particular mask to maintain their mutation. Which can get difficult to watch in some scenes. You may be surprised by some of the stars featured in this movie. We have Rose McGowan whose in a lot of great roles.

Josh Brolin who later played both Thanos in Marvel Cinematic Universe movies as well as Cable in Deadpool 2. He's also in a lot of movies including Men in Black 3. Tom Savini whose in a lot of horror films appears too. Quentin Tarantino appears in the movie too. Not to mention, Bruce Willis yeah!!!. More recently Willis retired from acting but for a good reason.

The special effects are surprisingly effective at times. This movie is widely known for a chick having an assault rifle for a leg. Which reminds me of the Scotsman from the show Samurai Jack. Also do expect a huge body count as well. Planet Terror is a movie that may suddenly become a little difficult to watch. Simply because of the zombies not in check kept getting more disgusting in their appearances.

Of course, this being a zombie movie it doesn't get The Return of the Living level crazy. I do think this was a good movie with the cheesiness of the movie concept. I felt, this turned out way better despite more zombie stuff kept coming out. Planet Terror is a movie that doesn't hold back in any sense of the word.

A group of survivors goes through hell with what's left of the military already infected. Sadly, you can't rely on help here. Unless you have that chick with a rifle leg. Honestly, Planet Terror was a good entry for Grindhouse franchise. I even preferred it over our next movie but I still have respect for Tarantino. I should also mention, Planet Terror has a difficult to watch attempt at rape in a scene too.

Death Proof (2007)

Directed by Tarantino whose responsible for such classics as Reservior Dogs, Kill Bill: Volume 1 & Volume 2 and Pulp Fiction. Death Proof centers on a crazy stuntman that preys on women with his modified stunt car. A notable amount of the movie is a reversal car chase. Sure the ending is quite cheesy too.

There's a few notably stars in the movie as well. Like Rose McGowan, yes her again. Eli Roth whose responsible for two Hostel films, Death Wish and a producer on a movie called Clown. There's also Mary Elizabeth Winstead whose in Final Destination 3, The Thing (2011) and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Of course, the legend himself Kurt Russell. He's in a lot of movies like The Thing (1982), The Christmas Chronicles series and Escape from New York as well as Escape from L.A. respectively. I actually loved his stunt car but I still preferred the show Supernatural's car more though. Death Proof isn't as much about the kill count.

It's more about things that became clear someone was assaulting women. A small group of them surprised him while out on the road. Not to criticize the director, he could've made it more rememberable than it actually was. Honestly, it's not one of my favorites he's done. Planet Terror lives up to the hype it built up in comparison.

At least, you see some brutal car kills right? Which I felt those were given amazing special effects. Especially the most impressive thing about the movie. I just wish the movie had a different story with more of that thrown in. Of course, some horror movies involves killers that drives or actually vehicles themselves killing people.

I'm not saying Death Proof was a bad movie. No I am stating the fact you could easily expected more crazy things to happen in the actual movie. We have a crazy stunt man played by Russell. It felt like he doesn't get rip fully loose enough to get the job done. Maybe I held on to that disappointment for years but I still respect the film.

Bonus Halloween Blog #40 Van Helsing (2004)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, the last major time I talked about the movie Van Helsing. It was me ranking alternate Dracula movies a few years ago. Now I felt since I seen Van Helsing a lot since then. I should finally review it for Halloween. I got some interesting views on the movie itself. Sadly, I didn't see the animated connected Van Helsing movie so that's excluded here.

Van Helsing (2004)

I want to kick things off by saying this is an Universal monster film. Although, the main character is a famous hunter named Van Helsing. There's some notable changes to several creature's lore like Frankenstein's Monster & Dracula respectively. The movie has some notable stars as well. Such as Hugh Jackman whose best known for playing Wolverine in a couple X-Men movies.

Kate Beckinsale is best known for playing Selene in Underworld series, a better role for her in my opinion. David Wenham also in two The Lord of the Rings movies as well as 300 series. The movie centers on Van Helsing hunting Dracula, it may seem simple but for a few reasons it's not. Helsing can't remember certain things with only Dracula knowing exactly what those memories were.

I should point out in most things the character is named Dr. Abraham Van Helsing. But here he's named Gabriel Van Helsing instead. Other creatures like werewolves as well as Mr. Hyde. Sadly, Mr. Hyde's voice came from the recently passed away Robbie Coltrane. Whose remembered for such roles as Valentin in two James Bond movies as well as Rubeus Hagrid in Harry Potter series.

Hughman previously played Wolverine makes more sense due to a major twist later in the movie. Beckinsale also faces vampires & werewolves here. The movie is about Dracula seeks a way to give life to numerous children of his. Which involves Frankenstein's Monster as part of the process. Of course, they also have Igor whose betrayed Dr. Frankenstein for Dracula.

Igor is played by Kevin J. O'Connor who played Benji in The Mummy with Brendan Fraser. In both films, O'Connor played a greedy man who ends up getting a horrible fate. He also serves a powerful undead being that eventually gets killed by the main character. Personally, The Mummy is the better movie here. Van Helsing gets bitten by a werewolf later revealed to be Anna's brother.

We get an unexpected final show between Dracula and an werewolf. But unlike other werewolves, Dracula doesn't control Van Helsing. Which led to his demise, some of the movie's worst CGI effects I say. I do like some of the twists but it felt parts of those were either forced or didn't fit in properly. I'm not saying the movie has a notable pacing problem either.

Van Helsing also has three brides for Dracula. I actually loved Frankenstein's Monster in this movie. I would even say he stands out above everyone else. He's greatly misunderstood by people but surprisingly a pleasant person. I will be brutally honest, I hated this take on Dracula though. Parts of the actor's performances as well as the big twist kinda ruined the character for me.

I still think it's a good movie but it has some notable flaws. I know no movie is without some form of it's flaws. I just felt most actors I knew were simply in better, similar movies. Not to mention, this movie has a mixed ending. Clearly, Universal does have better horror movies within it's long library of horror movies.

Bonus Halloween Blog #39 Frankenhooker (1990)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I will be honest this following movie. I actually found out about during Cinemassacre's Monster Madness X. A quick reminder, this one had several different themes on particular days. More directly Franken-Fridays, where James Rolfe reviews an Frankenstein movie. I confessed I'm a huge fan of the concept.

A quick refresh of all the themes for that Monster Madness marathons down below...

Modern Mondays

Top Ten Tuesdays

WTF Wednesdays

Blood-Thirsty Thursdays

Franken-Fridays

Weekend Whatevers

Franken-Fridays line up of film reviews

Frankenhooker (1990)

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)

Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster (1965)

Victor Frankenstein (2015)

Frankenhooker (1990)

The story centers on a crazy scientist who builds Frankenhooker from deceased hooker body parts. Obviously, this is a parody of the novel Frankenstein. I confessed during that Monster Madness marathon, I went out of my way to watch every movie for Franken-Fridays. There's some mess up moments in this movie.

Also I felt I needed something a little unexpected within not completed line up of Halloween blog marathon I'm currently writing. Frankenhooker involves women that gets killed. Just mostly done indirectly like an accident or not knowing it wasn't drugs. Which actually caused a couple ladies to get blown up.

I don't think the writer understands the concept of hookers. You are suppose to screw em not have them blown themselves off lol. Of course, a man they work for starts getting unpleasant to Jeffrey. Let's just say in a mess up way, he gets his missing ladies back. I actually liked Frankenhooker character herself. She is just strangely interesting to watch.

This movie greatly reminds me of another similar horror film series called Re-Animator. Which are more serious, disgusting in comparison. Obviously, both of them are heavily inspired by Frankenstein novel. Most people rather stick with doing the creature similar to the story it's based on. Here, let's make a female one out of dead hookers.

Frankenhooker is proof the 90s had some of the most out there concepts imaginable. Some of which wouldn't even fly today. The movie is quite unexpected in a few ways. I will say it's not among my favorite 1990 horror films. But you can still have a fun time watching this. Remember you aren't suppose to take the movie seriously.

Honestly, how the deceased body parts were taken was vastly different from the novel. In most versions of the story, Igor grave robs for them. Here, the body parts are recently deceased hookers they ended up killing themselves. It's almost like they gave up their life for pleasure regarding drugs. The actual scene women blew up close by each other was mind blowing.

In the end, Jeffrey gets his head attached to another body. Which is the second most mess figure in the movie. The most difficult to imagine doesn't even look like a person at all. It's more of a couple female limbs than anything else, I'm not kidding. Frankenhooker is a movie you should check out if you want something different.

Oh wait I'm not done yet. I figured since I did mentioned how I found out about the actual movie. I should do a quick Top 4 Franken-Fridays movies from those he reviewed in that Monster Madness marathon. Keep in mind, this following ranking is strictly mine alone.

4. Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster

3. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

2. Frankenhooker

1. Victor Frankenstein

I will directly confirm Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster isn't technically an Frankenstein movie. So I felt kinda mixed while I was watching the movie for myself. Victor Frankenstein is hands down the best Frankenstein movie he reviewed there. Frankenhooker is a decent second best that's strangely rememberable in it's own way.

Bonus Halloween Blog #38 Hotel Transylvania 1-3 review (2012-2018)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I'm going to do a franchise my amazing wife gotten me into a few years back. This particular franchise would be perfect to watch with your family close to or on Halloween. I'm going to review Hotel Translyvania 1-3. Sadly, we haven't seen the recent entry. Also we're both huge fans of the comedian Adam Sandler, now you know.

Hotel Translyvania (2012)
Hotel Translyvania 2 (2015)
Hotel Translyvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018)

I wanted to start off with a lot of stars appears in these movies. All three films are directly by Gennedy Tartakovsky, there's a reason that name is familiar. He created cartoon shows like Samurai Jack and Primal respectively. The general concept itself is monsters goes to a hotel exclusive to them. Which eventually changes overtime due to a few major moments.

The first film is about Dracula's daughter Mavis falls in love with an human named Jonathan. Of course, at first her father was against the idea. Eventually, he accepts their relationship as well as the other monsters. The second film centers on a few major things. Dracula wants to remain close to his family but isn't ready for his family to move away from the hotel.

Later on, his father does ends up accepting things. Sadly, his bat friend is heavily against it. He was voiced by Mel Brooks, another huge name among comedy films. He's responsible for movies like Spaceballs. The third film has a few major plot stuff, we get to see the movies on an vacation. The concept of loving another person when they previously thought wasn't possible happens for Dracula.

It turns out that woman he's in love with was related to the hunter Dr. Van Helsing. Who has a rather unpleasant reputation among the monsters for stuff he's done over the years. He is lucky to even be able with what's left of his aging body. There's all kind of creatures in these movies. All three movies were done by Sony Pictures Animation.

They are also responsible for Open Season, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Smurfs, Goosebumps and The Angry Birds Movie series. Keep in mind, Goosebumps & Smurf films are mostly live action movies with some usage of CGI. This is better than a lot of Happy Madison Productions films. Which is ran by Adam Sandler, a lot of the stars in these movies are heavily presented in his films too.

Obviously, this franchise is a parody of Universal classic monsters. But also a lighter take on those creatures as well. Hell I could've say this franchise out lasted Universal's Dark Universe. Which only has one movie lol no just one that's pathetic. The very company to originally do crossovers among films to screwed it up more recently isn't acceptable.

Back to these films, I felt all three of them are decent family films. I felt everyone done amazing jobs in all three Hotel Transylvania movies. Let's be honest, stuff like this will be the closest we ever get to an actual Castlevania movie. You will be surprised by each film here in many ways. Not only it worked amazingly well in all three film's case but also you really couldn't ask for much more than this.

Bonus Halloween Blog #37 Truth or Dare (2017)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, this is a weird case because of a similar title situation. You may easily confuse today's movie with the wrong film. Don't worry it's not House situation with a lot of movies called that. No today we got a dangerous game teens would play called Truth or Dare. To clarify, I'm reviewing the movie of the same name from 2017 not the 2018 film from Blumhouse.

Truth or Date (2017)
The story centers on a group of college students. They chose to rent the same place a previous horrific event took place for Halloween. Of course, they started to play Truth or Dare. This variation goes from a fun time to one truly mess up experience. Some of this borders on what some considers as nightmare fuel. A ghost gets involved by making the game more twisted.

Some rules with Truth or Dare applies. But choosing to not do the dare will lead to death. This ghost will actively stalk it's victims. Like Unfriended, some cheating was involved with the circle of friends. Yes this does turn into drama as well. Some dares involves harm to yourself or to others. One particular dare was forcing Luke to rob a gas station, yes it gets crazy.

The ghost does use technology to a degree as well. One dare was get run over by a car. This was because the ghost knew he previously hit someone in a hit & run accident but drove off. Therefore, this dare was actually the ghost punishing him for that. They even get forced to do Russian roulette. You know the famous gun game until someone dies from a head shot.

This ghost is punishing the group for their obsessions as well as their sins. A handful of them eventually found out that previous Truth or Dare game had a survivor played by Heather Langenkamp. Whose best known for playing Nancy in A Nightmare on Elm Street series including herself. Sadly, the movie ends before we could see who survived.

Which can be quite annoying considering such a crazy movie. One instructions forces two people to remove seven body parts. Thankfully, that wasn't for one person it's shared between the two. This has to be one of the meanest ghosts I ever seen in a horror movie. Also, the ghost will make sure to get it's way in each aspect of Truth or Dare.

Sadly, there's no I'm done in this version of the game. This is essentially similar to movies like Saw series & Would You Rather. Where they are forced to do truly unspeakable things to each other. The ghost doesn't even cares about the harm it's doing to them. Honestly, someone had a lot of guts to make such an unpleasant ghost movie.

There's a lesson here, don't hide ugly stuff like that. Eventually it's going to come out especially in ways you can't contain the amount of damage it caused to other people. Virtually, that's exactly the movie's message in a nut shell. No one is truly save from this entity. Hell you could be in the bath room considered to be a part of the game, all of a sudden you get killed because no one told you anything.

The very thought being involve with a game like this is terrifying to the right people. The game itself had it's own obstacles. Someone thought no that's not satisfying enough. Then someone at the studio said, "Maybe bring in an unpleasant ghost to terrorize the group?" "Yes that's a great idea, let's get to work people!!!"

Truth or Date is a movie that's difficult to watch at times. You will see some amazing special effects. Especially in harming themselves. Honestly, this was a great concept for a horror movie. Sadly, it isn't an exclusive content deal. Many people would do their own twisted variation of the concept. Why do you think we have so many frickin' shark movies!!!

Bonus Halloween Blog #36 Unfriended (2014)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, here's another horror movie I originally watched with my wife on Netflix. Chances are for the newer audience, you already seen or at least heard about today's movie. This is clear proof be careful what you do to people, it may come back to bite you. Which is exactly the message of the movie Unfriended gives to the audience.

Unfriended (2014)
The story follows a particular circle of friends. All of them attempts a live web chat session. When all of a sudden, a mysterious user joins in. This movie gets very mess up as it goes on. Obviously, at first you are likely going to be confused what's going on. As the movie goes on, you get to learn the unpleasant truth. Let's just say in the end, none of them you will feel sorry for.

It kinda reminds me of a particular episode of Two Sentence Horror Stories called Toxic. Which had a similar concept with a few major differences. For starters, that circle of friends went out on a trip. Which led to all their deaths with the deceased becoming reanimated. It's almost Evil Dead like concept. This is more of a ghost revenge story.

Every person involved with that chat session meets unpleasant deaths. Some are worser than others but you do feel sorry for the deceased here. They tried getting the user removed as well as call the police on them nothing worked. Each death revealed more of the ugly truth regarding their death. By the end of the movie, you will know what they all done to her.

I do like up till the end, we don't see the actual spirit. Which worked to it's advantage for the most part. I also got to say no I haven't seen the follow up movie. Unfriended is actually a great title for this. This is more meant for teenagers especially those attending high schools. Of course, you know what that means drama yes.

Unfriended is more meant for millennials than anyone else. I have stuff like Feardotcom, which Unfriended is the better horror movie that involves the internet. More recently, people made stories about unpleasant stuff from the internet. You knew exactly someone making a horror movie had to attempt something like this.

It turns out they the person who recorded the video was the deceased's best friend. Sure, I also could've compared another particular episode of Two Sentence Horror Stories, Tutorial. Which involved a dark web stream show that's actually about murdering people. I just felt Toxic episode was more directly like this movie here.

Mitch was the person responsible for uploaded that video of Laura being drunk. All of this led to Laura committing suicide. When more the truth came out, those commenting on those videos were deeply upset at the group. Of course, there's cheating within the group too. If you didn't expect that then you don't know teens today lol.

Laura screws with all of them, which a good amount of it led to other unpleasant stuff coming out. Yes they checked Laura's social accounts as well. Basically all of them in some way played into what eventually drove her to kill herself. Sadly, some of it came not long afterwards. Like Jess got forced to confessing to defaced Laura's grave.

Yes this is one of those horror movies, the killer wins. Honestly, Laura was justified in her actions. You can tell when they done all of that, they didn't even care. Until the tables was turned leading to all their deaths. She made sure Blair was the last victim. Some of these footages are a little difficult to watch too.

Overall, Unfriended works well enough to keep you interested. I do understand why many people wouldn't watch this. For those that do, Unfriended is not what you're expecting. It's a revenge horror movie with the cast being bad people. This is a major reason why the younger audience may accept it better than older people.

Bonus Halloween Blog #35 Brutal Doom review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, today I am going to review one of my absolute favorite mods ever. Still one of the craziest I have ever seen. Even a member of the original development team loves it. I'm here to review Brutal Doom, it's so damn good. Clearly, I got so much to talk about in the actual review here.

Brutal Doom
Brutal Doom is virtually a mod updated version of most classic Doom games. Doom, Doom II, and both halves of Final Doom. Someone even made Brutal Doom 64, which technically better than the most recent port. This mod gives you so many options among difficulties, it's ridiculous. Not only that, they added great mechanics into the games making it more interesting.

Stuff like Doomguy not only has voice overs but also gives demons the finger. He also can rescue other space marines to help him out at times. You also can perform executions on the enemies. Some enemies has more of those awesome, sick animations than others. The level of violence is mind blowing. You literately can destroy enemies in a true blood bath style.

You also can use other mods along with Brutal Doom too. In every possible way, these classic Doom games are even better than ever before. Yes this also works with every expansion levels for Doom II as well. It's a little tricky to do with the Master Levels though. You also get a few new weapons like Revenant's weapon.

You can even directly aim which wasn't even possible in the original games. Which makes some frustrating sections notably easier here. Of course, they added a new attack for Imps making them tougher to deal with. The fact you can get this to work with other Doom mods. From smaller ones that adds music & weapons to those essentially being their own episodes or fan games.

Brutal Doom is a truly unique experience especially if you're a Doom fun. This mod is so incredibly satisfying, it's difficult to stop playing. There's a lot of updated versions of the mod itself. Yes, this also inspired similar mods in other FPS games too. John Romero absolutely loved the mod too. Brutal Doom nails exactly what you love about Doom games then takes it to a completely different level.

I even say this is the definitive way to play these Doom games. You can play this in all modes of these Doom games too. Just imagine doing coop with a friend, it's a lot of fun. You get the full experiences of those Doom games plus much more depending on additional mods you have included. I am not going to lie, I can't believe this mod even exists sometimes.

Brutal Doom is a true master piece among mods within video games. Yes, there's a lot of people who recreated the original Doom on anything you could possibly name including a candy bar? Sure why not lol, Brutal Doom is incredibly addicting to play. I can't even criticize it because if I had any issues. I simply could use a mod or two to fix the problem.

So I personally felt to me at least, this is the single greatest Doom mod I ever played period. Brutal Doom felt like how a lot of older FPS games should've been done. The best part is the mod itself being virtually free to download. Even Sigil, also created by John Romero could be notably improved by this mod.

Bonus Halloween Blog #34 The Suffering review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, here's a horror game not many people mention as much as it used to. A game that still terrifying the right people. I am here to review The Suffering. I do need to mention, sadly I have not got to play the follow up. I will say here's a game that doesn't mess around. I always had a soft spot for this particular game.

The Suffering
The story centers on a prisoner named Torque whose on death row for murdering his family. It's not often I play a game that fully or partly takes place in the state of Maryland. Considering that's my home state, I considered that something special. This is sorta an Silent Hill game taking place in prison before they actually done it with Silent Hill: Downpour.

Which came eight years later funny enough. I do need to mention, Midway was in desperation mood during this period. A lot of games they done wouldn't be as good. Surprisingly, The Suffering is an exception to those. There's some rememberable characters mostly on the villain side. One of my favorite characters is Dr. Killjoy whose a spirit that uses projectors to physically appear.

You do get a lot of weapons through out the game. I should point out there's a huge body count as well. The creatures themselves are rather freak in their appearance too. You have to navigate the prison as well as the island it's on. You do get to learn more about the truth what really happened. If you are lucky, you may quickly figure it out long before the end of the game.

Speaking of that, there's a few possible endings you can get. The game itself does have a moral system before it became more popular in video games. The final boss is essentially yourself, you get to see Torque as a human then the monster form comes out. If you aren't careful you can kill yourself during the final boss fight.

I also gotta mention there's a bonus level that includes commentary from the developers. There isn't much to the bonus stage itself. But you can tell by a handful of things, this stage takes place before the events of the game happens. The canon ending leads into The Suffering: Ties That Bind. I had this with Manhunt 1 on PlayStation 2, back in the day.

The Suffering does take direct inspiration from a famous prison called Alcatraz. We know this because another feature you can watch in the game tells you about that. As for Torque, you kinda wish he would give more in terms of raw emotions or even had lines to say. Which makes it trickier to tell the ending you're going to get.

I felt this game does go under people's radars especially more recently. Then again, there wasn't as many horror games when this came out. Now horror games are all over the place. You actually could buy them all year long which is insane to believe. The Suffering is currently on GOG with the follow up, which may be your best ticket experiencing this master piece.

Bonus Halloween Blog #33 Manhunt 1 and 2 review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I been saving something big. Something truly unpleasant right down to it's very core. A particular, short lived video game franchise widely known for it's level of violence. I am here to review both Manhunt 1 and 2 respectively. I am warning those not familiar with the franchise, you may not wanna read this in advance.

Warning, both these games have realistic violence. Even to the degree some of what you could be experiencing might be too much to handle. Trust me, these games can truly get ugly fast without warning.

Manhunt
The story centers on a man named James Earl Cash, who got sentenced to death. However a movie director pulled strings to save his life. In order to directly cast him in something rather unpleasant. Cash has to slaughter a few gangs while the footage for all of it is recording. Which means every murder Cash does up to a point, the director plans making a film out of it.

Unfortunately for Cash, the director did plan for him to die. No it isn't he dies in a movie deal either. He actually made arrangements to get Cash killed. Which doesn't work causing Cash to go after the director himself. You get to face armed men with night vision googles. You get a good variety of weapons to kill enemies with.

You also can execute them up to three colored levels with red being the most extreme, violent deaths imaginable. This game really doesn't hold back from all the blood & gore. Even I say sometimes it's a little too much at times, my favorite gang you face is the Smileys. They wear smiley face masks which already makes them creepy.

They also are escaped inmates of Darkwoods Penitentiary. I should point out there's also a half man, half pig creature with an chainsaw. Yes there's a huge body count through out the game. Cash does have an ally but they can't do much to help. Imagine making a horror movie with actual murders. Which so happens to be the concept of Scream 4.

You might be surprised to learn Rockstar Games made this. The same game company responsible for Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series. Even the cover for the game is truly terrifying. You shouldn't rush procession in this game. Of course, speed runners doesn't care. Manhunt is a decent horror game that's a touch too realistic in killing people.

Manhunt 2
Despite the title, it's more of it's own story than an actual sequel. Everything is notably different from the previous game. You play as either Daniel Lamb or Leo Kasper through out the game. I'll start with the most surprising thing I can say about the game. Rockstar was dangerously close to getting an AO rating. Which greatly limits who can play the game, obviously directly affecting sales.

They chose to sorta ruin execution sequences but making it difficult to see. Some people hacked the game to play what almost gotten an AO rating, it's way more violent than the original game. I still haven't seen the most surprising thing about the actual game yet. For a brief period of time, this game was given out from a fast food place.

Very quickly people told em how truly violent the game was, they removed it from that line up. Can you imagine go to get food then all of a sudden you leave with Manhunt 2? This game plays more into psychical horror too. I should also point out among all the platforms it's on. Surprisingly, there was a version on Nintendo Wii.

I actually had that version of the game which had the most interesting mechanics out all versions. You had to stay close while your character was hiding to prevent getting notice by enemies. There's two final levels for each character as well. Story wise, it isn't as good as the previous game. Even the enemies were more interesting there too.

It turns out Daniel got altered to have the conscious of Leo. All of a sudden, this plays out like the movie Fight Club in a nut shell. Daniel might sorta remind you of Cash but he still isn't as rememberable. In all honestly, in a few ways it's technically better than the original. At the same time, including getting tone down it does fall flat too.

Bonus Halloween Blog #32 Showing respect to Judge Death

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I figured to show respect to a particular comic book villain. Sure I could done Carnage or the Violator or even Batman Who Laughs. No, I got someone whose down right terrifying. Someone you just know him being involved things will get very ugly down to it's core. I'm here to show proper respect to Judge Death himself.

Judge Death
His story is a pretty mess up even for a comic book villain. He had a rough child hood doing some truly unpleasant stuff. Eventually he became a judge, he found an unusual area where he died yet still within the living world at the same time. He revealed the method to his closest friends who also are judges. Judge Death kills the people at the top of the Judges.

Following that, most laws got removed. In their place was just one law being alive. Which meant just being alive you are breaking the law, crazy logic I know. So the dark judges killed all life in their world. They eventually found a way into Judge Dredd's universe. There, these judges caused all kinds of Hell. It is safe to say Judge Death for a few reasons can be considered as Judge Dredd's arch enemy.

Judge Dredd doesn't actually like hurting people, he knows sometimes he can't be helped. In vice versa, Judge Death is all about killing people. Also, most of Dredd's enemies are killed off. Unfortunately, Judge Dredd with his dark judges death wasn't a possibility. The dark judges are also more supernatural than most of his enemies too.

Judge Death is trying to enforce his own law. Just in case, you didn't notice that same law is virtually allowing him to kill people. Even when it's not justified, which could lead him to getting judged by those running the judges. This guy is responsible for a lot of deaths. Most likely, the scariest person Judge Dredd ever met in his existence outside crossovers.

Not only that, Judge Death has a very unsetting appearance too. Which may or may not partly inspired Batman Who Laughs' appearance. Let's be honest, look at both characters side by side. They do appear to look strangely similar to each other just saying. Judge Death no longer bounded by death itself greatly limits what Dredd can do to stop the dark judges.

If this isn't already putting chills down your spines. Don't worry, I got more to tell here. Judge Death has a very similar personality to that of Carnage. In a sense, they're a more twisted version of a comic book hero. Judge Dredd & Spider-Man respectively. Both are widely known for a huge body count. Not only that, for both heroes they're incredibly difficult to defeat on their own too.

I also need to mention two witches helped made this possible. The same witches also helped getting them into another universe. They also helped getting the dark judges out of hell before. You know someone that evil just escaped hell itself, you got something truly bad awaiting anyone in his path. Honestly, I felt he's a candidate for one of the absolute scariest comic book villains in existence along with The Scarecrow from DC comics.
