Stephen King
He's been writing stories since close to mid 70s. He's still writing books to this day. Over the years, his fan base is getting bigger. He is often considered to be one of the masters of horror, I felt he's worthy of the title. He truly does think outside the box with a lot of his concepts. Sure, he does have trouble trying to end some of his stories.
Other than that, this man is a machine. He can make anything no where what you think into something truly terrifying. Stuff like Cell, where a mysterious signal affects those currently on calls through their cell phones. Thus becoming zombies was an concept that strangely effective for it's time. He even created his own multiverse within his own works too.
Now that's a very complex concept. If anyone could pull something this ambitious off, it's Stephen King. He wrote short stories to long stories having a little over a thousand pages. There is virtually no limit to his madness. The Dark Tower series is like a massive love letter to the fans. There's plenty of great adaptations of his works, including those he's very proud of.
Here's a legend that's capable of writing such amazing work right up to the day he dies. He sorta indirectly made being an author a family business because two of his children being authors too. He was close friends with legend horror movie director George A. Romero. The two worked on several projects together over the years.
Stephen King very quickly became something far bigger than he ever expected to be. He even made a lot of cameos within adaptations based on his works too. I strongly felt my favorite cameo oddly was in Maximum Overdrive, the only adaptation he directed. Although, he was on drugs during the entire process.
Yes even he scares himself like the concept of Pet Sematary. He just knows how to get people afraid while reading his works. All he needs is inspiration, watch the madness of his works continues to bloom. He even wrote stories outside his usual style that's praise a lot too. Not many authors can pull that off. In all honestly, he truly earned his respect for reading stories for several decades.
