Bonus Halloween Blog #18 Elfen Lied anime review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I'm not done talking about horror anime shows. Here's a personal favorite that my wife had a rather unexpected story with. Back when we were dating, I suggested to her to go watch Elfen Lied. Her family ended up getting interested in the show. I also felt this one stands out for a lot of reasons.

Elfen Lied
The story is about a guy named Kouta who sorta met Lucy before he didn't remembered. Lucy was a diclonius, they may appear like humans. Except they have horns on their head. You haven't heard the crazy part yet, they have a certain amount of invisible, long arms called vectors. These can easily rip through a lot of people as well as some durable objects, vehicles & containers.

Also expect a huge body count for this show too. In fact, due to nudity with a lot of violent moments. The anime itself couldn't be any longer or they would cancel the show. They were forced to agree having thirteen episodes plus an OVA episode no more or less than that amount. Not only that, due to that content you can only directly buy the anime show DVDs from a website.

No we aren't talking stuff like Walmart or Target either. There's a particular website that sells DVDs of that particular anime. Most places refused to sell the DVDs for reasons stated earlier. We do get to learn about the male diclonius too, sadly they lack the vectors. They also lose all their hair as well, basically it sucks being a male diclonius.

Lucky from a powerful sniper rifle to the head ended up with a new personally named Nyu. Whose either nice but also child like which was strongly lacking in her main personality. You will see such violent deaths, you may wanna consider the show as nightmare fuel. There's a lot of blood including the first episode alone.

The theme song still stuck in my mind for years. Yes I did read the entire manga, I liked it. But I still felt a special connection with the anime version more. There's plenty of rememberable characters in this show too. The ending itself is mess up in it's own right. OVA episode is canon to the show itself so you should make sure to watch that too.

Elfen Lied is a show that's surprisingly good from the very moment you start watching it. There's a good story being told even with a lot of death. Of course, there's a couple light moments too. You know to help balance itself so you don't get to turn off or depress while watching. Like Tokyo Ghoul & Parasyte, most humans can't handle this threat.

Not even seeing what one can do in combat was scaring the only soldier who was determine to take Lucy down. Yes Lucky does face some members of her species too. In all honestly, this show can get truly unpleasant at times. At the same time, you kinda feel like Kouta at times while other times relate more to why Lucy hates humans so much.

This show is done amazingly well in every category. I can't even criticize stuff like length because that's a good length for this. Too short, people wish there was more while too many episodes would ruin it altogether. Some of the finest anime shows are thirteen episodes long true story. It turns out diclonius females eventually becomes more mentally unstable overtime.

It's almost like The Boys' Homelander except they were simply born with that condition while he got experimented on. There's an faculty that contained their kind with Lucy being the original. No they aren't clones of each other. Seriously, cloning concept in later live action Resident Evil movies was a bad idea!!!

Elfen Lied is a show that nails exactly what it set out to do. Lucy is an outcast with reasons to dislike humanity. At the same time, she's secretly in love with Kouta. Although, she so happens to be very person who murdered his sister years as well as their dad while aboard a train. I should point out a truly mess up moment in the OVA episode you may wanna skip, it involves animal cruelty.

Stuff like this usually doesn't do well in Japan. But it's the opposite within the United States. The same also applies to stuff like Bleach, which recently gotten a sequel anime show. I can only hope it doesn't suck. Back to this, Elfen Lied is a show I highly recommend to anyone brave enough to watch the truly violent killing.
