Interview with the Vampire (1994)
A lot of stars appears in the movie like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst. The movie centers on an vampire named Louis who gets interviewed by a human. He retells his story up to the present in full details. I still felt these vampire eyes are among my favorites ever in moves period.
You get to learn a lot about Louie's life as well as how the world changed around him. Everyone can agree Lestat is one of Cruise's best 90s performances. Lestat was a mentor to Louie after he turned him into a vampire. Eventually a little girl named Claudia came along. Sadly, she was a spoiled brat that ended up getting what she deserved.
I am surprised she actually tried to kill Lestat. This is one of my favorite Pitt roles as well. There's just something about how Pitt playing the character that's incredibly chill. When he gets upset, you actually get surprised since he seems so cold barely showing any emotions. Later on, you get to learn the vampire laws.
Mostly don't kill another vampire, they truly take extreme actions for punishment any vampire who committed murder on another of their kind. They are very fine with vampires killing humans though. I know I'm about to open a whole bag of worms by saying this. Compared to those running vampire laws in Twilight universe, I rather live under these vampire laws.
Coughs among real vampires, come on you knew that was coming lol. Claudia does add a woman who sorta becomes her vampire mom. When Louie got in trouble with his involvement regarding killing Lestat. Don't worry, Lestat was alive which he does explain himself how. Sadly, the vampires didn't know about that.
Louie got forced into a coffin within a wall. Sadly Claudia with the woman ends up getting sunlight to death. Thus leading to the most unpleasant scene in the entire movie. Louie goes out of his way to kill a lot of vampires. Not even considering vampire kills, there's some sick kills. Like this one woman noticed her dogs got their necks broken before she died.
I strongly felt in every possible way, this movie was done amazingly well for it's time. Maybe it's just me, I do slightly prefer it over Bram Stoker's Dracula. Mostly on two accounts that I am going to explain. For starters, I love watching vampire characters. Also I felt the overall story was more interesting in comparison.
Eventually in Louie's story, we reach more modern time. Lestat wasn't used to a lot of stuff but Louie already knew about those. Honestly, the special effects were amazing. This movie felt like a proper horror book adaptation. This franchise has a rather weird history regarding media adaptations. Like Queen of the Damned is loosely based on some of the sequel books with different people involved.
The same can also be said about AMC show of the same name. Anne Rice before she died did get the rights to those. I still say movie wise, this was the best movie adaptation hands down. This movie actually made it seem awesome to be an vampire. Not only that, the ending is a little unexcepted too. Daniel the man who interviewed Louie was on a bridge at night.
Out of no where, Lestat attacked him. Like he previously done with Louie, he offered him a choice he never had. This movie was a huge success for it's time. The main vampire characters are so interesting in their own way. There's plenty of rememberable moments within the movie. I would even say it's one of the greatest vampire movies that actually centers on an vampire's story.
