Bonus Halloween Blog #36 Unfriended (2014)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, here's another horror movie I originally watched with my wife on Netflix. Chances are for the newer audience, you already seen or at least heard about today's movie. This is clear proof be careful what you do to people, it may come back to bite you. Which is exactly the message of the movie Unfriended gives to the audience.

Unfriended (2014)
The story follows a particular circle of friends. All of them attempts a live web chat session. When all of a sudden, a mysterious user joins in. This movie gets very mess up as it goes on. Obviously, at first you are likely going to be confused what's going on. As the movie goes on, you get to learn the unpleasant truth. Let's just say in the end, none of them you will feel sorry for.

It kinda reminds me of a particular episode of Two Sentence Horror Stories called Toxic. Which had a similar concept with a few major differences. For starters, that circle of friends went out on a trip. Which led to all their deaths with the deceased becoming reanimated. It's almost Evil Dead like concept. This is more of a ghost revenge story.

Every person involved with that chat session meets unpleasant deaths. Some are worser than others but you do feel sorry for the deceased here. They tried getting the user removed as well as call the police on them nothing worked. Each death revealed more of the ugly truth regarding their death. By the end of the movie, you will know what they all done to her.

I do like up till the end, we don't see the actual spirit. Which worked to it's advantage for the most part. I also got to say no I haven't seen the follow up movie. Unfriended is actually a great title for this. This is more meant for teenagers especially those attending high schools. Of course, you know what that means drama yes.

Unfriended is more meant for millennials than anyone else. I have stuff like Feardotcom, which Unfriended is the better horror movie that involves the internet. More recently, people made stories about unpleasant stuff from the internet. You knew exactly someone making a horror movie had to attempt something like this.

It turns out they the person who recorded the video was the deceased's best friend. Sure, I also could've compared another particular episode of Two Sentence Horror Stories, Tutorial. Which involved a dark web stream show that's actually about murdering people. I just felt Toxic episode was more directly like this movie here.

Mitch was the person responsible for uploaded that video of Laura being drunk. All of this led to Laura committing suicide. When more the truth came out, those commenting on those videos were deeply upset at the group. Of course, there's cheating within the group too. If you didn't expect that then you don't know teens today lol.

Laura screws with all of them, which a good amount of it led to other unpleasant stuff coming out. Yes they checked Laura's social accounts as well. Basically all of them in some way played into what eventually drove her to kill herself. Sadly, some of it came not long afterwards. Like Jess got forced to confessing to defaced Laura's grave.

Yes this is one of those horror movies, the killer wins. Honestly, Laura was justified in her actions. You can tell when they done all of that, they didn't even care. Until the tables was turned leading to all their deaths. She made sure Blair was the last victim. Some of these footages are a little difficult to watch too.

Overall, Unfriended works well enough to keep you interested. I do understand why many people wouldn't watch this. For those that do, Unfriended is not what you're expecting. It's a revenge horror movie with the cast being bad people. This is a major reason why the younger audience may accept it better than older people.
