Top 5 Reasons Why I like Doomguy so much

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, one of my personal FPS heroes is Doomguy. This space marine has every reason to die like everyone else. Yet he was able to defeat Hell several times for the most part on his own. Possibly one of the toughest FPS characters ever created. Doomguy is not just a legendary character in gaming but to some a true signal of hope in the worst of situations.

Doomguy is in many ways a major inspiration for characters like Halo's Master Chief. We have a man not afraid of leaving Earth to take the fight to the demons. One time he went to Hell to avenge his pet rabbit. Doomguy literately has been through Hell time & time again. He has every reason to surrender but chose to fight them to a bloody pulp instead.

5. Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil was a great expansion
Honestly I prefer this expansion over the original game. You have a better weapon set that feels a little more like a true Doom experience. You also have four great bosses with defeating three of them powering a weapon. There isn't as much story as the other games in Doom 3 line but I do like the twist at the ending.

It is debatable did this Doomguy survived barely or died after the final battle in Hell. We may never know since it was technically the end of that time line. I also like how they placed the enemies in this game. It was so good they ported it to the original Xbox shortly after porting Doom 3 to the same console.

4. Most of his weapons are really fun to play with
Let's be honest even in Doom 64, the weapons are simply a lot of fun to use. You get a great variety of them that could affect other enemies differently. In older Doom games you get a ridiculous amount of ammo during the campaign. Some weapons like BFG are very powerful weapons capable of killing bosses in a handful of hits.

Going back to Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil, you get a heart that stops down time. In Doom 3, you get a cube that instantly kill any enemy it hits. The only exception is the Cyber Demon since you have to hit him with that weapon four times. I always enjoyed using the plasma rifles & both shotguns.

3. I love how he fights all kind of threats

A normal man fighting evil spirits, demons, zombies & god like beings. Most people either would be too afraid to do anything, attempt to escape or take cover in a hurry. Of course doing any of those will likely get you killed. Doomguy decides screw that I'm going right after you demon bastards. Similar how Duke takes on aliens but in a way more bad ass than that.

Even going against something like the Icon of Sin or the Cyber Demon. It is no secret the Cyber Demon hands down being my favorite Doom creature. This guy does not back down from a challenge no matter how crazy it is. Doomguy's strategy might be seen as stupidity but somehow his method is working.

He has officially killed thousands of demons in the original time line. This is without bringing in non canon sequels that would make that number close to a million I'm not kidding. This guy doesn't know the meaning of death at all. In my opinion he is the only thing scarier than Hell itself. Considering all the major locations he went through he sure isn't slowing down the pace.

2. Doomguy kept defeating demons in & out of Hell
Most people quickly die horrible deaths by the demons. Doomguy isn't afraid to go to Hell itself to prevent anymore of them coming to our world. He even chose to stay behind for that purpose since they kept coming back after he stopped them a few times. It may not look like it but he cares about humanity.

Doomguy is working insanely hard for the people remaining to live their lifes. Although in Doom II, most of the population got wiped out by demons. He is crazy enough to confront some of the most powerful beings in Hell. This guy really doesn't have much stopping him from what he does best. A massive pile of dead demons all over the place.

Forget the Ghostbusters, call Doomguy to wipe out the threat instead. He will make sure they won't ever come back or he too will bring them more pain. In a way that's a package deal with a real guarantee. I highly respect what this guy does. No matter how bad it actually gets, he will fight his damnest for us.

1. Doom 1 and 2 are very good games

There's no point in ignoring the obvious any longer. Doom 1 & 2 are truly unique FPS games I honestly can't stop playing. A few well made campaigns you could play for hours. I don't recommend Master Levels for Doom II & both halves of Final Doom. In every possible area both of them are very good at what they bring to the table.

Games worthy enough to rival the likes of Wolfenstein 3D, Quake, Half-Life, GoldenEye & Duke 3D. Yes some ports change a great deal of things like the one in the picture above. Doom games at the time blew a lot of people's minds. Sadly most ports aren't that great with fewer being able to play the original games at the time.

These games are easily candidates for some of the greatest FPS games ever made. One interesting fact Doom is one of the very games to inspired the long standing rating system on video games. Doom is violent, loud & packs a lot of secrets. Both those Doom games has some of the greatest levels in FPS history.

Top 5 Reasons Why I like Duke Nukem so much

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, for the longest time the only Duke Nukem game I had growing up was Duke Nukem: Time to Kill. Obviously I didn't start like most do either from the original or Duke 3D. Eventually I got to play all the main games on my computer. Over the years, I simply can not get enough of Duke Nukem.

In himself yes he is a parody of action movie stars as well as some scifi movies. In a way he stands out more than most FPS characters both before & after him. Anyone appearing the same year as Sonic has a lot of potential to be great or the king baby. We also might finally get a Duke Nukem movie.

I promise if this movie does come out, I will review it for my blog. I will be respectfully about what I'm expecting for right now. I should mention a few years after Duke 3D, out of the clear blue we got Serious Sam. A character that's too similar to Duke Nukem. The Simpsons very early on has the perfect example for what I am talking about.

I apologize in advance if this isn't the exact words said on the show. "Radioactive Man is cool while Radioactive Dude is kinda lame." Basically Duke Nukem comes off like a bad ass character while Serious Sam isn't all that different from him. I haven't played enough of Serious Sam games to know exactly.

5. Great power ups & other stuff

Yes this does depend which Duke Nukem games. In Duke 3D, you can use a jetpack to fly around or steroids to move much faster. You also have x-ray to see in dark areas which is majority for DNF. By drinking beer you become tougher for a short period of time. Either way you look at it, Duke has many grounds covered.

Both DNF & Duke 3D allows them in multiplayer. This by itself brings more challenge to the players online. Even doing a tough level on co-op can make a huge difference using these. Especially when both of you are low on ammo. I got to say Duke has some amazing stuff to work with. I can't name one I honestly don't like.

4. Great one liners

By now everyone knows this but Duke has some great lines. Yes even in DNF that many of you still criticize today. I always enjoy hearing lines like "I got balls of steel, It's down to me, you, you one eyed freak & It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum & I'm all outta gum." Some of his lines from Duke 3D are some movies like Evil Dead series.

Even without those lines, Duke still has some great ones. They actually referenced a prank call using Duke's voice in the second DNF campaign. For those wondering what's the line here you go, "I got ball ball ball balls of steel." Hell I did like his new lines in Duke Caribbean a lot. Duke saying those things does help you clear your head when you're pissed off or you really needed a laugh or two.

3. He does things to bosses you really won't expect
Warning children below the age of 13 shouldn't read this reason. The very last thing I want to hear is from your parents hearing you read my blog upset. Look anyone is welcome to come here & read until something bad comes up. The very last thing I want to do is piss parents off. I am not going to lie some of what Duke does to bosses might be a little too much for some people.

Just in the picture above he is cooking the final boss' nut sack. For Overlord he rips off his head to crap down his throat. You don't even wanna know what happens to the Queen in Duke 3D lol. A lot of brutal possibly disgusting finishers rivaling the Mortal Kombat series. Even Alien Empress gets a rather brutal death.

Duke Nukem makes it crystal clear. You aliens shouldn't came to Earth now you are going to die. Before I go further I'm talking about aliens from space not actual people. Duke has a reputation you would think they could allow him to become the president but he would turn it down. Of course they didn't stop The Saints from doing it lol.

2. Two theme songs that are still stuck in my head
A very obvious reason to like Duke Nukem. Most fans would tell you about the famous Grabbag aka Duke 3D theme song. Another theme song I heard before that was Duke Nukem: Time to Kill theme song. WOW both those songs are very good. I kid you not you could play for hours just listening to them.

Duke Nukem doesn't have many songs that stand out remotely like these two. At the same time, most of it's competitors have better songs for levels than a actual theme song. I'm really not trying to piss FPS fan off by saying that. I am just stating both these theme songs are excellent in their own right. Hell I would vote for Duke Nukem to run as president lol.

1. Duke Nukem 3D

The most likely reason anyone would love Duke Nukem is Duke 3D. Possibly one of the greatest FPS games but also one of the greatest video games of all time. This game went from an unexpected direction greatly changing up the game play from classic shooter platform dos to FPS. Many years like Fallout 3 did the same thing with a similar repetition.

Duke 3D has one of the most campaigns for any shooter out there. Most of them are honestly worth checking out, I already ranked all of them on PC. This game is perfect for modding or playing with friends. In every possible way this could be one of the greatest third game in gaming history. Duke 3D is truly an unique experience that many people need to enjoy.

Top 5 Reasons Why I Prefer Resident Evil over Silent Hill

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, yes I played some Silent Hill games. Mostly the first three games has my respect. Most newer SH games is simply not worth checking out. I got into Resident Evil at a younger age still a huge fan of the franchise. Let's be honest Resident Evil is Capcom's best selling franchise to date.

Silent Hill was one of the first to challenge Resident Evil for the title of the best survival horror franchise. Granted both franchises sure made major mistakes over the years. I am mostly speaking on my own opinions what I think. Honestly if you disagree, you are welcome to tell me why as long you don't act like a jerk.

Resident Evil is easily going strong even during some of their questionable decisions. Yes I am looking at you live action movies. Silent Hill does have a few select things over Resident Evil. I won't argue that on those grounds. I highly doubt a official crossover would ever happen since they're incredibly different with too many questions raise to answer.

5. Resident Evil does have more good movies

I will be hones to say both their first live action movies aren't that bad. Very quickly they got bad sequels that makes talking about them harder with each movie. I would say most animated Resident Evil movies are worth checking out. The original Resident Evil movie does have several things over the original Silent Hill movie.

An awesome soundtrack with great sound effects. Yes both movies are loosely based on classic survival horror movies. In terms how they go about their stories, Resident Evil takes the cake. It is far from perfect but still one of the better video game movies I seen. Those animated movies do a great job being somewhat like the games.

4. Multiple campaigns within some Resident Evil games
Obviously this doesn't imply to many Resident Evil games. The original itself had possibly four different ways the story would end. Yes I know there's technically more endings than that. Two for Chris & Jill respectively with clear things determining which ending you get. Resident Evil 2 doubles the process plus throws in a canon mini game with Hunk making it five campaigns.

Resident Evil 5 does have a flashback mission taking place a few years prior to the game. You also get another dlc mission taking place before the ending of RE5. Let's be honest you already know Resident Evil 6 has four campaigns. Yes parts of them do involve either replaying some parts or something thing.

Resident Evil VII has two dlc missions that are important to the plot. Yes most dlc content are basically what did happen prior to Ethan getting involved. Some of these change up how the game plays. I should mention RE3, CODE: Veronica X & Revelations 2 do a similar direction. Although it is one long campaign you do play as several characters during it.

Now I know Silent Hill games has more endings. Which by itself does bring replay value into the mix. At the same time you won't experience as many changes as those Resident Evil games. I am honestly not trying to piss off SH fans. I do like some endings especially UFO endings for the most part.

3. Mini games

Silent Hill doesn't do mini games but the closest thing would be the scenario in SH2 with Maria. Most mini games in Resident Evil series are a lot of fun. In some games they're actually better than the campaign itself like Leech Hunter. Many things are possible in these you simply can't do otherwise.

Obviously it gives you an excuse to play as characters like Wesker or Kauser. They went out of their way to make two games inspired by The Mercenaries mini game. A good number of them does have nice unlockables to help spice the game up. Most of them holds up incredibly well by today's standards.

2. Better weapons

I apologize in advance for this but as stated before they're both incredibly different from each other. Resident Evil is more blast away if necessary & attempt to escape. Silent Hill involves being trapped in a town filled with demonic beings. Most main SH characters are similar to regular people thus making them more relatable.

Silent Hill relies more on melee weapons compared to fire arms in Resident Evil. Hidden weapon wise Resident Evil has some tough weapons to beat. Obviously the infinite rocket launcher, a portable laser device that can kill most enemies in one or two shots. Handcannon with insane money for upgrades that ends up being pretty over powered.

Also a few Silent Hill weapons has a constant grade system. Even at it's highest you can be lowered for another run. I never had that problem with any of the Resident Evil games. In some cases you can use your fists like near the end of Jake's campaign or more recently in End of Zoe. Resident Evil has a great variety of weapons indeed.

1. residentevil.net support

This website is free to anyone that wants a more complete Resident Evil experience. Yes it does tell you not only the games it's supporting but also which versions as well. In most supported games you can use points earned either from login ins or doing challenges. You can unlock some stuff depending on things.

For example you can unlock other character costumes in RE6 with points. But EX3 costumes are more difficult to get due to getting tickets. You have to compete in tough challenges hoping you did good enough to earn one. In a way that may suck but it also gives you more reason to get better at it. In Revelations 2 you can get 50,000 per a thousand points.

Which easily makes getting rich fast in the game. Although some stuff you could do will cost a large amount of gold. You can send stuff into Revelations 1 to help in Raid Mode. Yes everything you do in these games are recorded on the service. You will be surprised by looking them up sometimes how good you did.

Top 5 More Reasons Why I Prefer Resident Evil over Silent Hill

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, guess what I got more reasons why I prefer Resident Evil over Silent Hill. I do want to say out of respect Silent Hill 2 is hands down one of my absolute favorite Konami games. I spent hours on Silent Hill HD Collection's version on Xbox 360 getting many runs including all the endings.

I just wanted to point out that although I hate the direction Silent Hill is going right now. I will always respect Silent Hill 2 for what it brings to the table. A truly amazing survival horror game that more people need to play. I honestly can not recommend it enough on my own. Silent Hill 3 is still a solid entry in the franchise.

5. Better dlcs

Yes I know how dare I do this to you Silent Hill fans. Honestly I felt some of the newer entries could've use some dlcs to help fix their reputations a little bit more. Starting with Resident Evil 5, a good number of dlcs are worth checking out. Yes some of them could be hit or miss with many people.

I felt Resident Evil 5, Revelations 2 & 7 did the best with them. Each dlc either mini game or story related brought a lot more to the game. They truly help make the experience feel more complete in the long run. Clearly Capcom is working hard to make their fans happy despite some mistakes in the past.

4. Better controls

Before anyone whose a bigger SH fan gets angry, please allow me to explain. I do agree if we were just judging the first couple games in both franchises. I would've agreed Silent Hill had better controls. However more recently it seems Silent Hill isn't doing a good job with the controls. Even Resident Evil 6 a flawed game in & of itself had better controls.

Resident Evil 4 had some of the best controls I ever experienced in a horror movie. I could say the same thing about Resident Evil 7. Both Revelations games has great controls. I know this is my opinion but judging off of Silent Hill: Origins & Homecoming I'm not impressed. I heard a lot of mixed things about the controls in Downpour.

3. Better spin off games

I know this is partly not a fair comparison due to so little spin off games in Silent Hill while there's plenty of them in Resident Evil. Both Outbreak games are inspiring people to bring back old servers to keep online gaming going. I'm still impressed by both Chronicles games since they did a great job retelling several RE games.

Yes some of Resident Evil's spin offs are technically worse but no one has compared those games to Silent Hill: Book of Memories. So we really don't know which currently has the worst spin off. Honestly who really cares Resident Evil still has a few spin off games worth talking about. Technically there exists a few cell phone RE games as well.

2. Better villain characters

Let's be honest both franchises aren't giving us good villains. I remember Albert Wesker being involved in some way for many events. Spencer also played a huge hand in terrible experiments. Even Dr. Marcus' revenge eventually led to the end of Umbrella. Wesker is easily the best villain characters Resident Evil has.

Although Hunk is working for Umbrella, he comes off more like a evil Leon. Both of them do amazing things when their backs are against the wall. In fact I really would like to see those two face each other in the near future. I do have some respect for William since he did make what I personally considered to be the worst virus of them all the G-Virus.

This virus may not kill it's victims among getting it injected but it's potentials are truly what makes it terrifying. William went through five transformations with this virus inside his body. Alexia Ashford is one of the select few people being in full control of their mutations. She can transform several times as well as command many creatures.

1. More interesting time line

I know this is simply not a fair comparison. I am not about to say some SH events are separate from other ones is a bad thing. Actually that sorta makes those games more unique. I felt SH3 is a great follow up to the original Silent Hill. Then we get Silent Hill: Origins taking place several years before SH1.

You can't really picture how all of that connects but stuff like that gets explained in some way for Resident Evil. So far three animated movies are directly a part of the game time line. This by itself allows more possible angles to be possible. I'm not going to lie even ignoring RE6 for obvious reasons.

A lot of stuff does happen from RE0 to up that you do need a lot of time to plan out. What you do know of the time line. You would think people wouldn't like this but in those franchises you couldn't be any more wrong. There is so much to remember for Resident Evil to keep you busy for hours. Someone made a lengthy fan movie with most of the cut scenes from several entries.

Jack Red reviews Shadow Warrior Classic Redux

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, a friend of mine introduced me to the classic Shadow Warrior. One of the toughest FPS ever made. You could consider it a counterpart to Duke Nukem 3D since the same team worked on both of them. Duke Nukem is parodying action movies while Shadow Warrior comes more off Material Arts movies.

Lo Wang is possibly one of the most offensive FPS character ever made yet a lot of people loved him. This guy went through Hell to stop a evil tyrant from conquering our world. I actually own both versions of Shadow Warrior on GOG. You can get for free the classic version of it with the expansions included.

I prefer the version I'm talking about today made by the same team behind Duke 3D: Megaton Edition. Shadow Warrior Classic Redux is hands down the definitive way of playing Shadow Warrior. For one one thing in the free version even if you did alter the controls. I still had a lot of trouble even doing simple things.

For some unknown reason, Wanton Destruction's final level was missing a key portion preventing me from completing it. Thankfully that isn't a problem in Classic Redux version. The controls can be change easier in this version too making it a much better experience. Also considering this game can be brutal at times.

Similar to Duke 3D: Megaton Edition, you have to select one of three games to play. Each one has a new main menu picture representing them more accurately. Originally not much changes in the main menu for the expansions. Personally I have a difficult time trying to play it without codes. I will be honest to say I'm better at other shooters like Doom, Duke 3D and classic Wolfenstein.

Shadow Warrior adds many things that not many FPS still haven't done. You can use the turrets which is probably the most used feature in shooters today. You also can drive some vehicles although they aren't majority to do so. Mostly standard what you do but sometimes you have to figure where to go.

My favorite part about Shadow Warrior is the music. WOW I could listen to those songs for many hours. I do like most of Lo Wang's voice overs as well. Can you believe there were several deals including Duke 3D? Although Duke 3D: Megaton Edition got pulled from Steam due to new ownership & the copy rights ran out.

The new company behind that version of Duke 3D does now own Shadow Warrior franchise. Not including Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, they also made two new Shadow Warrior games. Unlike the original Shadow Warrior, these games are also on consoles. I would say Lo Wang stands out in many ways.

Wanton Destruction ended up getting release more recently for free. What was left of the company did found the complete expansion to release it online. Prior to this Twin Dragons was the only expansion you could play. There are some notable changes in both expansions from the main game. Twin Dragons has Hung Lo, Lo Wang's evil twin brother as the final boss.

They also animated the ending which wasn't common for Shadow Warrior. Wanton Destruction was stated to be their greatest expansion to any FPS game they ever done. Personally I felt that title should go to The Cryptic Passage for Blood for many reasons. Let's be honest if you aren't experience in these type of shooters.

You could enable the codes or simply go play something else. Now Shadow Warrior does have some pop culture references as well mostly to TMNT. I really did try to like these games more than I ended doing. I am simply more for Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Duke 3D, Blood and Redneck Rampage? Yeah I can't help I find those games simply more entertaining than Shadow Warrior lol.

Now it's time to rank all the Shadow Warrior campaigns. Considering the original campaign is technically done in two parts. I will consider it as just one big campaign for this particular list...

3. Wanton Destruction
2. The main game
1. Twin Dragons

Ranking all the Duke Nukem Campaigns (Main Series)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, today I want to give my official ranking of all the Duke Nukem campaigns. I will be starting with the original Duke Nukem but ending with Duke 3D. Yes I am covering Duke Nukem Forever since it's the most recent game. I do want to clarify I won't be including the PlayStation 1 exclusive episode since I haven't play that version.

I won't explain much since I already talked about all of them in greater details in a few blogs.

Duke Nukem 1 (1991)

3. Episode 1: Shrapnel City
2. Episode 3: Trapped in the Future
1. Episode 2: Mission: Moonbase

Duke Nukem 2 (1993)

4. Episode 1
3. Episode 3
2. Episode 4
1. Episode 2

Duke Nukem Forever (2011)

2. First campaign
1. The Doctor Who Cloned Me

Duke Nukem 3D (1996)

8. Duke: Nuclear Winter
7. Episode 4: The Birth
6. Episode 5: Alien World Order
5. Duke It Out in D.C.
4. Episode 3: Shrapnel City
3. Duke Caribbean: Life's A Beach
2. Episode 1: L.A. Meltdown
1. Episode 2: Lunar Apocalypse

By now you probably noticed all my top choices are the second episodes. I swear I didn't plan this, it just happened. Until next time I'm Jack Red and I'll see all of you later.

Jack Red reviews Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I been getting a lot of games in the last few years. Yes I knew about the new version of Duke 3D that's on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. I already owned most of the Duke Nukem games on Steam. I figured more recently to finally buy it to see for myself if it was worth the wait or not.

I do need to correct something before I continue on. Back in my review of Duke Nukem games on Steam. I stated I played off a friend's account on Steam for Duke Nukem Forever. I also currently own the game on Xbox 360. More recently I got Duke Nukem Forever Collection on Steam for a great price.

Now there is notable difference between all three versions of Duke 3D. I do got a lot to say about this new version indeed. For this version, some of the original developers came back for the new content. This is rare for a FPS game to get this much attention over the years. Officially twice beating out the original Doom.

Obviously I will be comparing this to the previous Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition. They added new lines for Duke to say during the game. Let's be honest the new lines are okay for the most part. I felt Duke Caribbean: Life's A Beach had better new lines & those were actually said by a different actor.

They brought back the rewind feature from Xbox 360 port. This feature was last used in Duke 3D: Megaton Edition on PS3 & PS Vita. They added commentary you could have enable but I don't recommend them. I heard more entertaining commentary in bad horror movies. I haven't got to experience the multiplayer yet but I kept hearing it isn't good.

The high light of this version is adding a new fifth episode. I like the concept behind this particular episode for many reasons. Usually Duke is mostly in one particular location for an entire episode. Every level features a new location around the world. This sorta reminds me of Duke It Out in D.C. that has a similar thing going.

Also unlike most episodes within Duke 3D, there is a couple boss fights. They also introduced a new enemy that can be annoying since they can change sizes. If you are close by when they are about to explode, you will take a lot of damage. I noticed most of the sounds they make comes from another common enemies.

You get a new variation of the Freezethrower called the Incinerator. Basically a flame thrower that sorta comes out like fire balls. Honestly I do enjoy using this new weapon a lot. The final boss is an alternation version of Cycloid Emperor called Cycloid Incinerator. Although I really like his appearance, he wasn't a good final boss.

In his defense, the boss fight was more fair than the Queen boss fight. Yes you have to deal with enemies during it too. At least it isn't those annoying alien rip off creatures. The famous Duff Beer Blimp is close by if you are low on supplies. I do like how they went about the campaign in general. It is up there but not by much for many reasons.

Let's talk about the audio, in most versions you can hear Duke lines & the in game music. However for some reason in this version you have trouble hearing those lines. I never had this problem with Duke 3D: Megaton Edition on Steam or Duke 3D on Xbox 360. Another weird thing is it takes longer for the levels to load.

Thankfully it won't take more than a few minutes but in Megaton Edition I'll already playing them. Also I did play that version's multiplayer I do agree it is way better than what I have seen for the new version's. Another let down is all three expansions presented in Megaton Edition isn't here. Thankfully if you know what you are doing since both versions of Duke 3D has Steam Workshop.

You could play the expansions through 20th Anniversary or playing Episode 5 in Megaton Edition instead. I would say it is better programmed than some of the Duke Nukem games on Steam. This is a good but not great version. It has some good things while some of what it does have isn't as good as some versions.

I am not trying to give this version a bad name since I do like it myself. I do agree with many fans that Megaton Edition was way better. For one thing the price they were asking for was more justifying due to the expansions. Now granted the way you would select either the main game or expansions does work similar to Duke Nukem 1.

For those that never got to play Duke Nukem 1. They have three campaigns set up but the game can only play one of them at a time. Which is virtually the same concept as Duke 3D: Megaton Edition. I felt the sound effects in general were better in Megaton Edition too. I also felt the achievements were too easy to get them all.

I did have some trouble with the multiplayer achievements. Thankfully a user created a map specify for those achievements. Yes I tested this map with other user, you can get those achievements in under an hour at best I'm not kidding. I would say if you missed out on Megaton Edition, you should check out this version.

I believe it is time to update the official Duke Nukem Steam ranking...

9. Duke Nukem 1
8. Duke: Nuclear Winter
7. Duke Nukem 2
6. Duke It Out in D.C.
5. Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition
4. Duke Nukem Forever
3. Duke Nukem: Life's A Beach
2. Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project
1. Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition

If anyone is interested, I could also rank all their campaigns from worst to best saving Duke 3D for last. Until next time I'm Jack Red and I'll see you all later.

Top 5 More Reasons Why I Prefer Mortal Kombat over Street Fighter

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I am back with more reasons why I prefer Mortal Kombat over Street Fighter. Remember folks this is strictly my opinion I do apologize if anything I said gets you upset. Everyone has different taste in things especially what they like in their fighting games. For Mortal Kombat is one of those game series I really can't get enough of.

5. Better balanced difficulty

I am going to be honest I always felt Street Fighter 2 was too repetitive. You can change the speed from slow to fast or in vice versa. Especially near the end, your opponent start getting cheap. I felt when I lose at a Mortal Kombat game usually it is my fault that I loss. This also considers the bosses like some strategies won't work on them.

In other modes of play, you get use to how each mode plays. To me SFII has brought many hours worth of anger instead of joy. In newer Mortal Kombat games, there's so much to do. Even online is getting better with each game. I do enjoy playing Test Your Luck that will test you in many ways all decided by random.

4. Secrets

Even since the beginning, Mortal Kombat has some clever secrets that people still talk about today. Like fighting Reptile in Mortal Kombat 1 or any of the hidden characters in MKII. There is easter eggs cleverly used in newer MK games. Erron Black usually fires a bullet with most character's name on it.

In Predator's case what's written down instead is a tribute to the famous line by Schwarzenegger. One dlc pack also adds Predator inspired costumes to the game. I also like Johnny Cage saying in one of his intros, "It's game over man." He was referencing a popular line from the movie Aliens. Most guest characters' finishers are easter eggs in themselves.

Speaking of easter eggs, who remember the rumor of Ermac in MK1? It was a glitch in the arcade version that the team themselves couldn't find. This later inspired the character Ermac whose a fan favorite since then. A similar case happened with the character Skarlet except she got introduced officially in the reboot.

3. The Krypt

The Krypt can take hours to fully obtain everything it has. In both Deadly Alliance & Deception, you have several different colored coins to buy many coffins. I also like in Deception you have to find keys for particular coffins. Sadly this mode was ruined by Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Thankfully the reboot made it awesome again.

I like in the newer versions you get to explore as if you were there. Especially true in MKX since you have two major sections packed with content. It might be over whelming at first but quickly gives you more reason to play them. This mode by itself made some of the newer MK games worth replaying.

I also like they added some humor when they can. Yes you have to memorize to the best of your ability which coffins or other stuff you buy. In MKX, you now can get attack by enemies. Some of them are limited time meaning you have to rush to it in time hoping to have enough coins. Trust me The Krypt is a great feature.

2. Later versions of MK games kept all original content with added stuff
Most early updated MK games kept majority of content. Starting with the reboot to up, you could wait until the final version comes out with most to all of it's dlcs. Sadly Street Fighter never actually did this. Yes they give you a few versions you can download but still have dlc to buy. I also like in MKX's disc, all of it with a handful of dlcs are missing are present on it.

Also the covers for those versions are amazing. Street Fighter 3 did have Akuma until Third Strike. Mortal Kombat: Trilogy allows you to play as all the bosses at the time. You even had a character that was all male or female ninjas rolled into one. I also like those newer updated versions are lowered in price.

1. Street Fighter goes over board with updated versions

Let's be honest this picture above is the perfect example. Officially Street Fighter II got six updated versions. Each title kept getting more ridiculous to some degree. Street Fighter IV really went over board with the titles. A summary of it is we went from original SFIV to Super Street Fighter IV to Ultra Street Fighter IV.

Also how many times do you need to make a updated version of a game Capcom? The most Mortal Kombat did for any of them was two. Both of MK3's updated versions had a much better title too. The rate they were coming out for SF was enough for me to stop caring. I do like how there exists three versions of SF3.

Oh okay that's fine but look at how many versions of SFII & IV there are I'm not kidding. Last I checked it sounds like SFV might suffer the same curse. Some ports change little to a lot like an HD remix of SSFII Turbo or Ultra Street Fighter 2 that adds Violent Ken & Evil Ryu to the roster. Also they made a newer official SNES version in smaller quantities.

I know Street Fighter II was technically the first real good fighting game. But seriously was all of this absolutely necessary guys? I can't believe SFII had so much content thrown all over the place. Some versions of SFII removes the bonus stages. Honestly this by itself is why I really prefer Mortal Kombat series.

Top 5 Reasons Why I Prefer Mortal Kombat over Street Fighter

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, Mortal Kombat is hands down one of my absolute favorite video game franchises. There really isn't a lot of fighting games like Mortal Kombat. Like Street Fighter there was many bad fighting games inspired by it's success. Only one of them is truly worth mentioning Killer Instinct.

Mortal Kombat got two live action movies, a prequel animated movie, a cartoon and a few shows. Right now Mortal Kombat is one of the best selling fighting game franchises in the world. This blog should give you an idea why that is. Mortal Kombat is something truly unique in & of itself for many reasons.

Today I want to give you just five reasons why I always prefer Mortal Kombat over Street Fighter. Now I am not crazy about Street Fighter but I never really dislike it either. I will be honest to say yes there are some Street Fighter games I like. I have played all the main Mortal Kombat games through out the years.

5. It's no question which franchise had a better first game
I really didn't want to start with such a low blow no pun intended. Let's be honest most SF fans still haven't go to play Street Fighter 1. At the same time, most reviews on it are terrible. This game was a early fighting game yet some earlier ones like Konami's Yie Ar Kung-Fu holds up better. Most people that has played it agrees attempting to do any special moves is a real chore.

You can also play as Ryu or Ken as player 1 or player 2 respectively. In Turbografx-16 port called Fighting Street you can plug your controller in port 1 or port 2 since the game doesn't have a character selection. I know there isn't many playable characters but I seen many fighting games with slightly more characters present on a real character selection screen.

One interesting fact that Capcom put it all on the line for Street Fighter II. They were surprised it did way better than they were expecting. In fact just among the top 10 arcade machines of all time. There isn't many official ports in the United States. Would you believe me after telling you it is a crime to play this illegally in any shape or form?

Sadly it is true you can face a big fund for being caught playing SF1 that isn't the actual arcade machine or any official ports. Another major problem is how terrible all the voice overs are. I mean come on Pac-Man sounds better coming several years before this. Officially among the worst SF games in the entire franchise.

It is so bad that everyone that has at least seen SF1 in action agrees Mortal Kombat 1 is way better. Much better voice overs with great sound effects. You get seven playable characters with each character having an ending. The moves are much simpler to pull off in comparison. Let's be honest just about everything in MK1 blows SF1 away.

4. Guest characters

Yes Street Fighter characters has appeared in so many crossover fighting games. Yet no one guest character has appeared in any of their games. More recently guest characters you really wouldn't expect appears in fighting games. None of the original Mortal Kombat games has done that either. Eventually with the reboot all of that changed.

Kratos from God of War series appears in all PlayStation versions of Mortal Kombat reboot aka MK9. Freddy Krueger appears in two Mortal Kombat games. Jason from Friday the 13th series before he got his new game. Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series makes an appearance since his original Atari game.

Alien & Predator also appears in Mortal Kombat X together. I said it once & I'll say it again the announcement of Alien being in this game blew my mind. Alien is a very popular character for crossovers. Each guest characters brings brutally possibly among the sickest kills in the franchise history.

I also like how their endings help brings them more into the Mortal Kombat universe. Robert Englund reprises Freddy one last time in the reboot before voicing The Scarecrow in Injustice 2. Clearly people are requesting more horror movie killers to join future MK games. I could name a select few that would be perfect for Mortal Kombat series.

3. More species

Street Fighter does have altered clones, robots, experiments and mostly humans. Mortal Kombat has species from other realms aka other universes. You have a few races from Outworld like Shokans & Tarkatans. You also get some races from Netherrealm aka Hell like Scorpion, Quan Chi and Noob Saibot.

Each realm has such a difference in how they fight. Havik already being insane from Chaos Realm with some weird moves. Hotaru from Order Realm fights like he is trying to protect. I should mention some gods themselves takes part in these games. From humans all the way up to gods we have such a clear line.

Trust me some of these moves you may never seen in a Street Fighter game. Let's be honest it does get boring playing with just humans after a while. I rather having a good variety of species at my finger tips instead. One of the most famous creatures in the franchise is Reptile. The original hidden character in fighting game that you couldn't play as.

In many appearances, Reptile looks like a human ninja. However before his mask I mean face is his true face. His species are on the verge of extinction thanks to the Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn. In some realms, using magic is considered a form of survival. Shao Kahn had over ten thousands years worth of experience.

2. Better storyline

Originally this started with a tournament called Mortal Kombat where Outworld was winning 9-0. If Earthrealm loses, Shao Kahn is allowed to claim their realm for whatever purpose he wants. Unfortunately Liu Kang of Earthrealm defeats Shang Tsung to win Mortal Kombat tournament. Shortly Shang Tsung was able to talk the emperor into doing a follow up all or nothing tournament.

Which means if Outworld wins this time, they can claim their realm ignoring the previous agreement with the Elder Gods. This tournament took place in Outworld since the previous tournament took place in Earthrealm. Once again Liu Kang defeats Shao Kahn to win the tournament for Earthrealm. Greatly angering the emperor, he chose to do something the Elder Gods doesn't like.

Shao Kahn made a few arrangements within Earthrealm to cheat the rules to forcefully allowing him into their realm. This includes reviving his queen in their realm, stealing most souls & force merging two realms together. Which also causes Raiden the God of Thunder to start losing his powers. Eventually Liu Kang defeats Shao Kahn again stopping his plans.

I would cover MK4 to up but the new time line greatly alters where MK4 took place originally. There were many clever changes making it fresh to watch the cut scenes but also playing the fights. Also the entire point of the new time line is not having Shao Kahn winning in the most important battle of all.

Right now we have a few possible ideas how this new time line could end. I believe we will continue to get some amazing stories keeping us on the edge of our sits. In the new time line we get a big amount of time passed between the reboot & MKX. Most of the original events took place very close by each other.

1. Fatalities

This really was a no brainer people. Fatalities are continuing to get more disturbing, violent & disgusting. In fact a good number of them I'm amaze stayed within their games. I don't like constantly getting stunned by opponents in games like Street Fighter series. I prefer having the dizziness after the match is over.

There is a good variety of fatalities in the franchise. Animalities allows characters to transform into animals or insects to kill people. Brutalities were originally a long intense beating that causes your opponents to explode. Now brutalities are quicker fatalities that can occur even before the match ends.

Hara-Kiri is committing suicide variation of fatalities. Faction Kill is guild related finishers that kills your opponents. Stage fatality aka death traps involves environmental finishers. A good number of them involves uppercutting your opponent up high. Sometimes doing a fatality better fits your frustration towards someone than just winning at many of it's competitors.

Heroic Brutalities don't involve killing DC comics didn't want their super heroes to kill people. They give you a quick beat down with little to no blood. Friendships also doesn't involve killing your opponents. Instead they are more little jokes since many parents complain about MK1's fatalities. A very large number of fatalities are simply unpredictable in their own way.

I should mention Fergality a Genesis exclusive finisher with Raiden. You have to do the code making sure you are fighting on the armory level. If you or your opponent quits at any time during an online match. Watch those heads explode in such weird ways. This also doesn't no longer count the match for either player.

Multalities is a fatality that kills many enemies at once. Sadly it was only present in one spin off game. The level of creativity for fatalities in general rivals that of The Simpsons. Fatalities is easily one of the most popular finishers in any fighting game. Not even the finest finishers in Street Fighter franchise can compete with those.

Jack Red reviews A Nightmare on Elm Street series and remake review

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, it's time to talk about one of my favorite horror movie franchises. A Nightmare on Elm Street might possibly be Wes Craven's greatest creation. An unique concept about a dead man stalking teenager's dreams to kill them. Freddy quickly became a house hold name following the original.

This franchise has many highs & lows over the years. I would say it holds up better than most of it's competitors. Freddy is such an unique character that people simply can't get enough of him. Many people around the time of it's release had trouble sleeping due to seeing the movie. Sadly the company & Craven had very different ideas how things were to be handle.

1. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Of course the one that started it all. A Nightmare on Elm Street follows a teenager named Nancy with her friends being stalked by a dead man in their dreams. Originally they wanted a older man to play Freddy but they knew as soon as Robert Englund audited for the role. He was the man for the job & he has many appearances as the character since then.

I would say this was a terrifying movie for it's time. This so happens to be Johnny Depp's first role. Speaking of Depp, part of what they originally attempted didn't happen. Every scene with Freddy brings fear right down your spine. Some great kills that can still haunt your dreams see what I do there lol.

Robert did an amazing job being Freddy. This stands as one of Craven's greatest movies. Sadly this ended up being one of his biggest regrets. He wanted to make it a stand alone movie with a happy ending. However someone high up was heavily against the idea. Also because many horror movie franchises were making money.

Every nightmare including those with no kills are truly unique for it's time. This movie plays on several fears many could have. We have a boogeyman that can virtually do anything. The ending is still one of the strangest I have ever seen in a horror movie. Many things originally appearing in this movie are present in most of the franchise.

2. A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985)

I am not a fan of this movie for many reasons. It is not because the main guy in real life prefers guys. Honestly I could care less about what he likes or who he sleeps with. There really isn't enough Freddy in this movie. I believe someone clocked all of his appearances in this movie to around 10 to 11 minutes.

Really Freddy appears that little in a Freddy movie well yeah. Wes Craven & some actors from the fist movie are against this movie. They chose to ignore Freddy killing you in your sleep concept. Instead a teenager named Jessie becomes Freddy. This ignores the part in the original where Nancy pulled Freddy from her dream.

Even some of the later movies talk about getting harm & bringing Freddy into the real world. Which involves you pulling Freddy while waking up. Yeah you can kinda picture where I'm going with this. I felt most of this movie doesn't exactly come off as a horror movie. I wasn't impressed by most death scenes.

Although the best scene in the entire movie is Freddy attacking people at a party. This scene still stands as his biggest kill count in a single scene. Also crazy things happen like a bird attacking then burns to death. I will be honest to say the effects for Jessie becoming Freddy are great. This movie is an insult to the late Wes Craven.

3. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

Everyone agrees that this is the best Freddy movie. This was Patricia Arquette's first role. The last among the Elm Street teens are committed to a hospital. OMG everything is so damn good that I can't imagine them out doing it. I am not kidding every special effect is amazing. Easily some of the best kills in the entire franchise are present in this movie.

Robert Englund really steals the show this time with an amazing performance. I also like they discover each one of them has a power in the dream world. If you think about it, everyone should have something to help protect them from Freddy. This movie blows you away from start to finish. This is more of a direct sequel to the original.

This was one of the few Freddy movies to have Wes Craven on board. Every scene plays a major role in some way. This had the best story out of all the Freddy movies. I was really impressed by all the nightmare scenes. Some of them still creep me out like turning Phil into a puppet using his veins. Nancy returns to help these teens from Freddy.

I also like they reveal more about Freddy. Who doesn't remember Freddy possessing his own skeleton beating up two guys? I felt they did a great job writing the characters. It wasn't exactly common for characters to be likable. In fact for many horror movies, a lot of people root for the killer to kill people.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 is a candidate for being one of the greatest horror movies ever made. I personally consider it one of the greatest horror movie sequels of all time. This movie not only out done the original but also brought plenty of interesting ideas in. Sadly Craven wasn't allowed his concept for the movie that eventually became another movie.

4. A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988)

Freddy rises from the grave to hunt down the last three teens he was after. Alice gets unwillingly used by Freddy to kill more people. Oh okay I prefer that over how A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 did. I would say some of my favorite Freddy moments are in this movie. I felt they did a great job with the movie overall.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 is where things gets confusing with Freddy. Prior to this movie, we knew him as a specter that's killing teens in their dreams. Now we are suppose to believe he actually the guardian of the dream gate. It felt sorta rushed in although why those teens from Part 3 had trouble fighting him does make more sense.

Debbie getting one of the sickest kills in any Freddy movie. First she gets both of her arms broken while lifting weighs. Then she transforms into two cock roaches that ended up getting stuck inside a trap. Finally Freddy says one of his best lines in the movie quickly followed by crushed it in his hand. I like on the DVD release a scene is titled Mortal Combat lol.

Funny enough Freddy appears in two Mortal Kombat games. Of course I should mention how much I enjoy seeing Freddy & Alice going at it. Alice made sure to bring something belonging to her friends & brother to confront Freddy. Alice is sorta a mixed dream warrior since she possesses traits of the souls she got.

I also enjoy watching Freddy pulling himself together. What's weird is a dog pissing a flame that opens a grave. Maybe that's Freddy's way of telling you, you're dead & so are your friends. I would say the nightmares are mostly interesting. Some short ones are alright with Freddy being a nurse being the best of them.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989)

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 is a rather strange movie for many reasons. In many releases, the number 5 doesn't appear which never got explained. This is following the fourth movie with Alice being pregnant. This brought the concept of that nun aka his mother from Part 3. Freddy has some great lines this time around.

Dan's kill is still one of my personal favorites in the franchise. His nightmare starts in his truck with Freddy driving another truck. After a while Dan gets thrown from his vehicle to get on a motorcycle. Suddenly this motorcycle is ripping into him, fusing it to his body. He reminds me of Mr. Grimm from Twisted Metal series.

He gets hit by a truck to die shortly afterwards. Mark technically dies twice in this movie. Alice saved his soul from going to Freddy. Sadly Mark gets an awesome death scene. He becomes similar to his own comic book character gunning Freddy down. Freddy transforms into Super Freddy to claw a good amount of him off.

Mark turns into a comic book character that quickly loses his colors. Freddy rips him into several little pieces. I should mention Robert cameos as one of those maniacs you see early on in the movie. This time Freddy is using her unborn child for revenge. Which means Alice can experience the dream world without being asleep.

You do get to learn a little more about Freddy. It is kinda weird how Freddy gets defeated this time. In a weird way it makes sense since he was possessing an unborn child. The same child he gave three souls to. Jacob uses the power he was given to force Freddy out of his body. This led to his mother dying a second death.

I would say parts of this was better than Part 4. I still like how well they changed from the real world to the dream world. Some of the best lines Freddy says are in this movie. I felt Englund did a great job once again. I would say it is not bad but it comes close to the borderline of what's good & bad. I might recommend this to some Freddy fans.

6. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)

The official attempt to end A Nightmare on Elm Street series. Keep in mind, two attempts on Jason doing the same thing. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, we learn a great deal about Freddy's past. Believe it or not this movie was also done in 3D. Back then not many horror movies did the concept. Still not many of them nailing the 3D effect today.

Let's be honest this movie is like Seed of Chucky for Child's Play series or the movie Funny Man. To clarify I'm talking about that clown character that loves screwing with people. Some weird references in this movie like Freddy pushing a bed of nails just in time his victim was about to hit the ground. If you haven't somehow figure it out, it was referencing The Looney Tunes.

I should mention Freddy recreating parts of The Wizard of Oz. Another scene he uses a controller controlling a stone gamer guy. Some of his friends knock the controller away, Freddy transforms his glove into a power glove. He then says the famous line now we're playing with power lol. Nintendo did actually sue them over it.

Funny enough in Injustice 2, Scarecrow says this line. The answer to the question about what exactly is Freddy. It turns out he is a dead man that was given powers by dream demons. I would say I do enjoy many nightmare scenes including a Johnny Depp cameo. There is the bus scene where a guy gets sent flying from the dream world into the real world.

To sum it up, Freddy pretty much killed most of their child. He needs his child to allow him to leave town to continue killing people. I really enjoy the part where Maggie I mean Katherine is inside Freddy's head. Alice Cooper cameos as abusive man that took in Freddy. I really enjoy the fight scene between her & Freddy.

Not many people in this movie but all of their kills were over the top. Funny Man was the same way except it was surprisingly funnier & had better death scenes. Robert Englund still steals the show as Freddy. I like the scene where Carlos fell asleep, he checks a map that keep getting bigger. A message written in red to sum it all up lol.

7. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)

The last Freddy movie to have Wes Craven on board. Earlier I was talking about a concept they wouldn't allow him to do for Part 3. In this movie, Freddy's darkside is haunting the actress that played Nancy. I got to say this is a beautifully written horror movie. Everything about it is so good even for early 90s.

I actually like the new Freddy look in this movie. Most nightmare scenes stands out in a huge way. Robert Englund appears as himself and Freddy. Although during the ending credit for Freddy they let ? instead of a name. I guess they wanted to attempt one last scare that not many people will get to see. I also like Wes Craven appears in this movie.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare often gets called Part 7 despite being it's own stand alone story. I also likes it kept referencing the original movie. This felt like a true successor to it, the same way Part 3 was. Craven has stated most of these sequels are terrible. This Freddy isn't meant to be funny. Craven actually wanted Freddy to being more terrifying.

I also like the twist Heather has to become Nancy one last time to stop Freddy. Obviously this is ignoring her character's death at the end of Part 3. I felt this stays more true to the source material than most sequels. Clearly one of Freddy's best performances within the movies. I also like the fairy tale reference how the movie ends.

This is not only a great entry for a horror movie but one of the best stand alone movies too. In a weird way you could consider it a sequel since this technically would be following the sixth movie just set in another universe. This movie holds up amazingly well that never truly gets old to keep coming back to it.

8. Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Oh hell yeah Freddy vs. Jason is hands down one of the greatest crossover horror movies ever made. I actually got some interesting horror movie history to share. Most early crossover horror movies were done by Universal. The industry went a few decades after the last major one. When they announced Freddy vs. Jason, people freaked out.

It never got a movie sequel but it did receive two comic book sequels with Evil Dead's Ash. At one point before they went in this direction were considering to add Michael Myers to the mix. Now imagine Freddy, Jason and Michael in the same movie. I would pay a few hundred bucks to see that even if they only fight once in the entire movie.

This is following both Freddy's Dead & Jason Goes to Hell but before Jason X. Freddy was greatly weaken among escaping Hell. He knew he needed to bring fear back just enough for him to be able to kill people. He took a risk by rising Jason from the grave to kill a few people. Unfortunately things went sour between the two killers.

I am glad a character in the movie states the obvious. "We aren't safe awake or asleep." Well yeah we have two impressive killers that will do anything to get what they want. All the fight scenes between them are really fun to keep rewatching. Not a lot of people attempted to follow suit after this movie. The only real exception was Alien vs. Predator series.

I like how they brought these two together. They did a great job making it feel like both of their movies are combine into one. The guy playing Jason is officially the tallest to play the character. No offense against the actor, I felt he was one of the best Jason actors. I heavily felt no one nailed Jason better than Kane hodder who played Jason in four back to back movies & now Friday the 13th Game.

Believe it or not I seen this movie several times at a drive thru. Everything was done very well in this movie. They delivered in a huge way on their promise that we would get a blood bath. We would also get two killers fighting each other. In a way this movie pays tribute to all of those crossover movies Universal done.

9. A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

For me this is hands down the bottom of the barrel. Yes even worse than Part 2 for many reasons. I am not about to bash it for being a horror movie remake. I got plenty of great reasons to dislike this movie with a passion. Even Robert Englund made great points why this remake didn't work. For me I did expect a lot better than what we actually ended up with.

They attempted to recreate some scenes from the original movie. I like how some remakes plays tribute to the original films. What I don't like is recreating something we already seen & clearly not done as well. Most of those scenes are Nancy is asleep. Like she fell asleep in a bathtub. I really didn't like how they change his back story.

Originality he was a facility worker & child murder due to his rough child hood. They changed it to a groundskeeper at a school & he likes kids in a way you aren't suppose to. I really didn't care about the new Nancy at all. I really prefer the original Nancy since she confronted Freddy alone. Most nightmare scenes are kinda boring.

One of the few good things about this movie is the guy playing Freddy. He is a great actor, I know him best in Watchmen. Sadly this movie could've been a lot better than this. I was more impressed by some horror movie remakes that did little to no tribute to the original movies. Freddy was close of being scary but changing somethings would've greatly helped that.

A Nightmare on Elm Street remake is easily one of my most hated horror movies. I'm sure many of you seen The Simpsons' parody of it that was way better. This movie focused on all the wrong stuff. The special effects are easily some of the worst I have ever seen in a horror movie. How they went about the characters could've been a lot better.

Do you really wanna know what really kills this movie? No cameo of any kind with Robert Englund. I mean come on he was the very guy that made so many people afraid of Freddy. Why wasn't he offered a cameo in this movie & please don't tell because of his other cameos. Clearly they did state no plans of doing Freddy vs. Jason was possibly the worst thing to say.

Unless plans change another remake of this movie is in the makings. We might get another remake of Friday the 13th. I doubt that will be worth waiting for. I do feel like some underrated horror movies do deserve a remake. A unique concept like this quickly ruined in just one movie. Most Freddy fans agree don't watch this or you could suffer something worst than a nightmare I'm not kidding.

Now I have reviewed all the Freddy movies, it's time to rank them all from worst to best...
9. A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
8. A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
7. A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child
6. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

4. Freddy vs. Jason
3. Wes Craven's New Nightmare

Jack Red reviews Leprechaun movies and Red Clover aka Leprechaun's Revenge

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I apologize for not doing a blog on St. Patrick's Day. I had something personal going on my end that I won't discuss. I will say things are better now. The day before St. Patrick's Day I decided to buy all the Leprechaun movies on Steam. As a kid, one of my favorite horror movie franchises was Leprechaun.

Now I know these movies aren't known for being scary. In fact some of them have funny moments. Warwick Davis nails the character in a way that anyone taking over the role has some serious shoes to fill. Yes this may come off as one of the dumbest things imaginable. A lot of people originally thought the same about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

They are still going strong with several shows & movies. I can't say the same for the newer TMNT games. My point is some ideas that you think wouldn't work end up getting sorta a cult classic status. Which is very much the case for Leprechaun series. I am proud to announce Syfy is making a new movie called Leprechaun Returns.

I don't fully understand why people are now making more direct sequels in original horror movie series. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise seems to be getting the good end of the stick. Of course I will be discussing the abomination that is Leprechaun: Origins. Yeah let's just say I speak for us Davis fans, that is not a Leprechaun movie.

Now I have to make some things clear before going into my Leprechaun series review. I already reviewed Leprechaun 4: In Space within another blog series. I also talked a little about it in another blog. As a bonus I will be reviewing Red Clover aka Leprechaun's Revenge. Believe it or not, there isn't many Leprechaun theme horror movies.

When Universal did their Krampus movie, a few movie companies quickly release their own Krampus movies. Leprechaun is still an unusual horror movie franchise for many reasons. It never quite got as big as many of it's competitors like Freddy, Michael, Jason, Chucky & a few more names.

1. Leprechaun (1993)

Trimark decided to take a chance at making Leprechaun. They didn't realize getting Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun was going to be difficult. You see Davis was under contract by George Lucas for starring in a Star Wars movie. Eventually they came to an agreement to allow Davis to take part in the movie.

After it's release Davis wasn't happy until he was hearing a lot of people loving it. Now Leprechaun stands as one of his favorite movies. The beginning of the movie has a couple just moving in from Ireland. Her husband had stolen the Leprechaun's gold & he nearly died that night. Ten years later, a small family moves in.

One of the people they hired got tricked into letting the Leprechaun out of the crate. You can only imagine how crazy this movie gets. Honestly I really enjoy this movie for what it is. Possibly a candidate for not only an underrated horror movie but also one of the best horror comedy movies. I am not kidding some moments in this movie still making people laugh today.

Leprechaun is exactly what you would think of. There's plenty of laughable ideas for horror movies. Not a lot of people give enough credit to Leprechaun. Warwick Davis quickly steals the show during the entire movie. Another interesting trivia that not a lot of people know. At one point they had a deal with the company responsible for Lucky Charms to appear in the movie.

However after learning how the movie was going to be like. They did pulled away but surprisingly allowed a quick rip off brand to be used instead since they're still Lucky Charms in that box. Let's be honest the kid said the best line in the whole movie. I could talk about this movie for hours & never get bored.

2. Leprechaun 2 (1994)

Officially the last of the original Leprechaun series to make it in the theaters. For some reason not a lot of people like it. I enjoy a lot of the moments including the kill scenes. Can you name another horror movie where a old guy gets a pot of gold inside his belly? I like on the back of some releases it actually says he's meaner than Freddy.

Leprechaun 2 is the only Leprechaun movie to take place on St. Patrick's Day. Similar to the first movie the beginning is taking place a thousand years ago. In Leprechaun's tradition, they must wait a thousand years then they get the woman they want to marry to squeeze thrice. If no one says god bless you after the final squeeze, he can claim her.

Warwick Davis has some rememberable parts in this movie. Who doesn't remember Morty doing a drink contest with him lol. I was always a fan of the go-kart cop kill. Basically Cody gets framed sorta by the Leprechaun after she was kidnapped. I do like they look more into what a leprechaun is. This guy isn't afraid to get his hands since he ripped off gold from people literately.

Leprechaun 2 has a good cast with some great humor. Speaking of that the little guy from Bad Santa series. He with another guy were stunt doubles for Davis in a few Leprechaun movies. Thanks Minty for that information, I love your work man. This movie also caused the famous debate of is it the same leprechaun in all the movies or not.

Sadly Trimark didn't make the numbers they were expecting. I felt this was one of the better 2's in horror movies. You have some difficult to watch kill scenes. In some ways it does out do the original. Some of my favorite characters are present in this movie. I would say this is one of the more interesting Leprechaun movies.

3. Leprechaun 3 (1995)

Often stated even by Davis himself to be the best Leprechaun movie ever made. You should know by now usually direct to video sequels don't do well at all. Of course there do exists some exception including Leprechaun 3. This concept was so on the money that I'm surprised I really can't get enough of it.

Everything about this movie not only makes it one of the finest 3's in horror movies. One of the absolute best comedy horror movies I have ever seen. Leprechaun in Las Vegas may sound like a terrible idea. In theory it was a match made in heaven. Leprechaun 3 follows a guy going to college that meets a magician's assistant.

This is one of the select few Leprechaun movies to have the leprechaun face someone with powers. Possibly the big surprise is our hero becomes another leprechaun forcing the two leprechauns to face each other. This concept by itself was genius since Las Vegas was already crazy enough without one. Why not give this town two leprechauns instead lol.

The best kills are present in this movie. I really like some of his kills are based on the wishes they made. Therefore he is punishing them for not only stealing one of his gold coins. But also making a wish on it as well. A dealer wished to be beautiful to end up getting blown. Not that kind of blown you suck bastards, I'm talking her entire body explodes.

A magician wished to become the best magician in the world. The twist for his was simply brilliant. He gets forced into a magic trick with no escape. The crowd cheering for him to be saw in half. Of course this is a Leprechaun movie so why not a chainsaw instead lol. As a kid I had trouble watching that death scene for a few years.

I would say this had everything go for it. Leprechaun 3 has some unique humor that you can't recreate. This too is one of Davis' favorite movies. Leprechaun sure having fun in Vegas isn't he especially after meeting Elvis or an impersonator of his. The movie never made it clear which one but still a great scene.

4. Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997)

For the original Leprechaun movies, this is the bottom of the barrel. Thankfully a few Leprechaun movies are worse. I won't be saying too much about it due to already reviewed it. Leprechaun 4: In Space is still a strange movie that shouldn't exist. In most categories this movie falls so hard. Especially after Leprechaun 3, you expect it to be somewhat decent right?

One random fact is on Steam they mislabeled the movie as Leprechaun 4: Lost in Space. Wait was the leprechaun in Lost in Space lol. This movie is legendary for being one of the absolute worst horror movie sequels. You got to love the entire movie no one knew they were facing a leprechaun. No they all felt he was an alien.

5. Leprechaun in the Hood (2000)

Leprechaun in the Hood was the last Leprechaun movie by Trimark before going out of business. This is hands down one of the best Leprechaun movies. I would also say it is one of the funniest too. The concept of putting the leprechaun in the hood ends up working very well. Ice-T has a strong appearance in this movie.

A group of friends are trying to make it big as rappers. They decided to steal from Mack Daddy. Unfortunately one of them took the medallion off the leprechaun. A lot of the funny moments I remember people on my high school bus talking about often. Leprechaun in the Hood has a lot of great things going for it.

Not only it help got the awtiful taste of Leprechaun 4 out of our mouths. We gave us more reason to love the leprechaun. I felt they did a great job bringing the leprechaun to the hood. Davis quickly steals the show with some of my favorite lines. This is the only Leprechaun movie where he wins in the end.

I can't shake this & the original Killjoy movie are similar. Obviously I would rather watch Leprechaun in the Hood more. I felt they did a great job giving us a true entry in this franchise. It had the potential to fail but instead blew many people's expectations away. This is clearly a classic in & of itself.

6. Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood (2003)

The first Leprechaun movie by Lionsgate but also the last of the original Leprechaun movies. It is also the last time Warwick Davis plays his character. The original director of this movie got fired when the script was too similar to the previous movie. A similar case that happened for Batman Forever.

Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood sorta comes off like they didn't want to make another one in the hood. I'm not a racist by any means. What I meant to say is even with it's changes from Leprechaun in the Hood. There's still not much of a difference between the two. The main character is a woman that for a change.

I would say there were some good quick laughs in this movie. I believe due to new ownership, the leprechaun looks more like a demon than a actual leprechaun. Personally I didn't mean the change in his outfit much. This movie does reuse some classic lines & not in a good way. Speaking of that one key thing both the hood movies share is the main characters uses four leaf clovers in a similar way.

I guess they all should've took a lesson from Alex. Once again Davis steals the show with some great kills. I felt with some key changes this could've been one of the better Leprechaun movies. Clearly this movie wasn't rushed since it came three years after the previous movie. I would say I do like the animated story portions the best.

7. Red Clover aka Leprechaun's Revenge (2012)

This is a strange case for the title while being made it was called Red Clover. But they chose to change the title to Leprechaun's Revenge for airing during St. Patrick's Day of 2012. The same all day Leprechaun movie marathon reairing the first three movies all day. Suddenly they went back to it's original title for it's DVD release.

Oh ok although both titles do fit the movie well. Why not combine the titles together instead? Red Clover: Leprechaun's Revenge sounds way better don't you think lol. A descendant of the man that put the leprechaun in the ground by accident awoken it. This gave her a curse of a red clover on one of her hands.

Billy Zane is the other actor in the movie you will know. Sadly compared to his amazing performance in The Demon Knight movie. I am disappointed here for many reasons. The leprechaun doesn't even look like one at all. Yeah he is green but he looks more like a strange walking tree monster than anything.

Most kills are virtually the same with some changes after every other kill. I do like they have to rebuild the lucky horse shoe thing. I will say for a low budget horror movie that the acting isn't that bad. The story is kinda boring even if my mind starts playing tricks it wouldn't help this movie. I felt this was sorta cashing in on the famous Leprechaun series.

8. Leprechaun: Origins (2014)

OMG I really wish for something to prevent me from reviewing this. I haven't seen a horror movie reboot that impressed me. Leprechaun: Origins is so bad it makes some of the worst Leprechaun movies seem like master pieces I'm not kidding. Yes they go into the origin of leprechauns but let's be honest.

This creature is not a leprechaun, remember when Zilla in our first US Godzilla remake. How many people felt that wasn't Godzilla. Warwick Davis' leprechaun looks & acts like a leprechaun. Also he had magic too which is clearly missing on this creature. Instead of the leprechaun being the bad guy why not make the people of Ireland instead?

I have a lot of relatives that are part Irish. Also a small group of people in Ireland using US travelers as bait to keep the leprechauns away. Oh sorry I just spoiled the big twist at the end. There is actually a lot of leprechauns but you won't know that until at the end. The actor playing the creature does portray a leprechaun for WWE around the time.

In comparison that was way better than this garbage. Leprechaun: Origins was a terrible title since it doesn't represent the final film. WWE Studios was trying to make more movies since WWE more recently not doing well. Leprechaun: Origins made it to theaters with very bad news. Most kills in this movie comes off as uninspired.

Even Garry Chalk doesn't bring much to this amazingly bad movie. A movie so bad that I'm impressed no one puts it as one of the worst reboot movies. Everything you expected from previous Leprechaun movies is completely absent here. They didn't just made something completely different, it also failed to hit the mark so much.

The actual gold in the movie we don't get to see much at all. Same with the leprechaun that's really not an uninspired appearance. I do like this movie took place in Ireland. What I don't like was actually stated by Davis himself. He wasn't happy they didn't ask him to do the creature or a small cameo.

We are talking about the same guy that became the reason you watch these movies. Why isn't he not giving a cameo in this movie? In most possible ways this movie really doesn't work. It really doesn't feel like a Leprechaun movie. Red Clover a movie with no relations had more things going for it. This movie isn't just insult to us fans and Davis.

Leprechaun: Origins stands as a movie that really went out of it's way to cash in on the name with no regard. I honestly can bash this movie all day long with plenty fuel to do other things. If I was allowed by Lionsgate, I would go to every house with a confirmed DVD or Bluray copy of this movie. I would blow it up live on camera. Avoid this movie at all costs.

Now I took the time to review all the Leprechaun movies it is time to rank them from worst to best...
