Jack Red reviews Darksiders 1 and 2

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I took an chance while buying AVGN II on Steam an few weeks ago. I played Darksiders 2 briefly at my brother's place an few months ago. Around the time I bought AVGN II, Darksiders franchise was five bucks for an few days. I wasn't sure before & after buying it if I made an good decision or not. But as soon as I got into these games everything changed. I played similar games such as God of War or Devil May Cry. I am blown how good & more surprised how underrated these games are. So much potential to be ignored & not given the attention it deserves. I really wanted to review both of them shortly after playing them.

Darksiders 1

This took inspiration from God of War, Devil May Cry, Zelda & Portal to clearly mix all of them. Into one epic adventure that could be an great movie some day. One of the horsemen of the apocalypse, War wants to stop the Destroyer. Whose sole goal is destroy all of existence. This led almost everyone becoming War's enemy in the process. He was suppose to stand back & witness it happening. War decided screw you guys, I'm saving this world at any cost. Darksiders 1 plays like similar to God of War & Devil May Cry in combat portion. Like Zelda, War gets to travel around in an epic journey. Late in the game you get your own portal gun. Yes this is an direct reference to Valve's Portal series. Like God of War, you can hold items while buying stuff more like Devil May Cry. It gives you plenty of options to work with in exchange for souls. I got to be honest it takes lot to impress me by art work alone. Darksiders 1 is hands down one of the most awesome looking video games I ever seen. The puzzles are similar to God of War but not as repetitive & surprisingly addicting to figure out. You get to wield an giant sword, an revolver and shuriken, This game does an great job telling it's story without ruining the move. Actually just the cut scenes alone could be an great movie I'm not kidding. Some areas take longer to figure out but in time you get use to all of it. An amazing soundtrack that you get with this game on Steam. What's even better is exclusive to Darksiders franchise bundle. You get free of charge an digital comic book now how awesome is that? I love every major area you go to through the entire game. My two big problems with this game are often criticized by many people. I don't mine Darksiders 1 is an long game because it's great. There are several parts of this game that can be difficult. Especially my second problem most of the bosses. I will say they are fun for the most part but they require using your head or you won't get far. I am aware some prefer that over bosses in Darksiders 2. But this game is kinda strict about it that makes everything more frustrating. Don't get me wrong I love an good challenge but this game nearly broke me. The final boss is both easy & difficult that doesn't make much sense. After an while you can easily own his dragon form. As soon as you get to the true final boss all bets are off. This boss fight requires you to win at least three button mashing sequences. Are you kidding me that isn't easy on this version to do. If it were E constantly then I would be fine but no it's part of my mouse. Overall I do recommend Darksiders 1 to those wanting something different & epic. Something that is it's own legend that should be tell many years to come. Also I love that horse in the picture.

Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition

Darksiders 2 adds more elements similar to games such as Castlevania: Symphany of the Night. You can custom your appearance that appeals much needed appeal. One of the horsemen of the apocalypse, Death wants to save War. But this unavoidably led to getting involve with The Corruption destroying worlds. A lot of people are confused if this is an prequel or sequel. Let me set the record straight it's neither. This is actually happening the same time as events in Darksiders 1. It is in fact parallel to that game with some later parts confirming this. I felt puzzles were better done with such creativity. Even some late in the game surprises you how well thought out they are. Death usually fights with his dual scythes in majority of the game. You can get an great variety of secondary weapons. You can buy from many people in most worlds unlike just one in the original. Like Darksiders 1, you also get it's amazing soundtrack. Most dungeons are a lot better in those in Darksiders 1. In an handful of them you can get easily loss or stuck depending on where you're at. This time the store works a lot better with gold being this game's currency. At first it seems their prices are too high. Yet collecting stuff does help add up gold for what you need. Darksiders 2 has an bigger variety of enemies. What I love about the leveling is regardless where you are. All enemies are set close to your level to help gain more experience. This feature alone with experience earned by completing quests makes things addicting. Keep in mind this is the later version that got release o PS4 & Xbox One. You get all it's dlcs right off the bat although that's half true. Smaller stuff like getting your horse or increases the amount of stuff you could get is present from start. You must defeat three intense bosses to unlock dlc quests. I like they added an extra option to allow you keep your save & doesn't effect your process at all. What I mean by this is you can start those quests shortly after beating the game. You could do these before that point but it's kinda better to wait. Why because in new game plus your leveling gets increase from 22 to 30. Also I got a lot more achievements in comparison to the original an handful of them. Even parts of some bosses are cheap, I do prefer these over those in the original. Speaking of bosses, there's a lot more of them. Darksiders 2 is an very long game of thirty plus not counting dlc quests. Some game being that long does ruin the experience for me. This is one of the few exceptions that I really enjoyed it. Yes so many hated the ending was similar to Darksiders 1 & this wasn't actually an sequel. I don't care about those things because Darksiders 2 is such an amazing game. Darksiders 2 is one of the absolute best video game sequels I ever played hands down. Personally not only it's story was told better. Every time you start your game up where ever you are. Darksiders 2 reminds you on what's going on. This alone I welcome so much because it does help sometimes with great artwork. Speaking of artwork, this in my opinion blew Darksiders 1's away. I will agree Darksiders 1 was ported better on PC. Darksiders 2 just work in so many ways that I didn't mine it's emulation issues. Just in case you're wondering which game I like more. Darksiders 2 you play as Death now that by itself gave it that spot. Now add all the problems it fixes and new features, there you go. This is such an amazing master piece.

I hope you all enjoy my blog and I'm Jack Red, I'll see all of you later.

Update: Darksiders 1 achievements won't unlock after turning the game off but leaving Steam on. Which wasn't an problem in Darksiders 2 at all. Thank god Darksiders 2 gave me what I wanted. I did forget to access an major issue actually preventing people on Steam buying it. Only Darksiders 1 has controller support which works greatly except for your camera stuck in place. There's two ways to fix this problem.

1. Disconnect your controller out of game then load it back up
2. Download an Xbox 360 controller setting

Why do we need to do that guys. I don't mine no controller support for Darksiders 2 because it's key board controls are better. I can excuse no dlcs but an major controller issue is not excusable. A lot of people prefer playing PC games with controllers. Yet this issue never got fixed by the team not even once. I still glad I own it despite those major issues.

Top 10 AVGN Levels

Hello everyone I'm Jack Red, I do enjoy many shows from Cinemassacre over the years. Obviously The Angry Video Game Nerd, James & Mike Mondays and Board James are my favorites. Also I do enjoy all his Monster Madness marathons. I figured to make an follow up blog to my last one. This time I am doing an Top 10 AVGN Levels. Which was difficult to make into an definitive list.

Rules for this list are they follow below...
1. No first levels allowed
2. All levels must have fun boss fights
3. All levels must have great jokes presented

Keep in mind majority of levels in AVGN II: ASSimilation are in an world set similar to most Mario games. Therefore I will be counting all of them for one spot together. I already covered all their boss fights so I'm excluding further thoughts on them.

10. Dungeons & Dickholes (AVGN Adventures)

I love they did that death trap joke from Super Pitfall episode. You start outside going deep in the ground. You must collect an few keys on the way. Even with it's death traps, this was one of my favorite levels. You can unlock Mike one of the best characters in the game. I like it's level song as it's fitting. Surprisingly everything in this level plays out very well.

9. Thy Farts Consumed (AVGN Adventures)

You are in Hell because everyone knows how much The Nerd fucking hates fire levels. One of the better designed levels with many death blocks. Hands down it's level song is one of my favorite songs. You can find Stuttering Craig & Chad in this level. In my opinion one of the best fire levels I ever played. Also I'm an huge fan of the color Red & riding an fire shark.

8. Area 52 (AVGN II: ASSimilation)

One of two worlds inspired by AVGN Movie. Area 52 is based on that movie's Area 51 with 52 coming from Action 52 game. I love how different all four levels play out. Two of them involve reverse gravity similar to some Sonic games. I really enjoy this level I put an picture of sliding most the way down. An very fun experience that many people would enjoy.

7. Nerd Gaiden (AVGN II: ASSimilation)

The name partly came from Ninja Gaiden series. The other world inspired by AVGN Movie in Tokyo, Japan. Very impressively retro style graphics. All four levels plays very differently yet very addicting to replay. In one of their songs, they put the theme song of Hong Kong 97 lol. Who doesn't forget about that big animals hitting enemies with his balls lol.

6. Laughin' Jokin' Numbnuts (AVGN Adventures)

The final level of the first AVGN game belongs on this list. It rivals Nerd Gaiden in being very colorful & interesting level design. Yes this is one of the hardest levels in the entire series. Yet the name of it with rainbow design came from an joke about LJN. So many episodes covered LJN games that it made sense to make an level inspired by them. The Nerd's words of insanity in an nut shell.

5. Board James (AVGN II: ASSimilation)

Inspired by another show made by the same people. Board James has very interesting level designs from start to finish. It references an great number of Board James episodes. Again each level plays very differently with great jokes. I love the part you ride on an car in the third level near the end. Of course this also had an great enemy selection with great songs playing.

4. Blizzard of Balls (AVGN Adventures)

So far the only snow/Christmas inspired level. You have to worry about piss off snowmen & diarrhea reindeers. I do like Starman from Mario series are on some trees in the background. The name of this level came from Winter Games episode. I like kicking Santa's kick then riding him all the way to the boss. We really need more Christmas inspired levels FreakZone Games.

3. Browntown (AVGN II: ASSimilation)

Heavily inspired by TMNT episode with parts of an joke from Battletoads episode. Most levels look as if they came right out of that classic NES game. The chase level was better than similar levels in Sonic 4 Episode 1. Of course the infamous electric sea weed joke makes an appearance. I got to say I played my fair share of swimming levels. I have to say these are really up there in my book.

2. Boo! Haunted House (AVGN Adventures)

My favorite level from the first AVGN game. It so happens to be the most difficult level in the entire game. The name of it came straight out of A Nightmare on Elm Street episode. Everything about this level not only works but still blows me away. It was an very good Halloween inspired level. I like it's level song that it puts chills in your spine. Some of my favorite enemies are in this level too.

1. Monster Madness (AVGN II: ASSimilation)

Finally we made it to my number 1 choice. James has been doing Monster Madness since 2006 in every October. I like playing in between black & color to colored version of the same level. Very good level designs with awesome songs. Very good enemy placements with Jason being my favorite. You can get the cape if you know where to look. Monster Madness was really good in every area.

I hope everyone enjoys another AVGN inspired Top 10. I am depending on doing one more Sonic blog for it's upcoming anniversary. Otherwise I will continue blogging on stuff I like & don't like. Until next time I'm Jack Red and I'll see all of you later.

Jack Red reviews AVGN Adventures, AVGN Movie and AVGN II: ASSimilation Plus Bonus AVGN List

Caution cursing, harsh language and toilet jokes are contain in this blog entry. If you can't stomach them or get easily offended. Then please go to another site in peace. Thank you in advance as this was meant for fellow AVGN fans like me.

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, recently I got to play AVGN II: ASSimilation on Steam. I figured to make an better review of the first game before I review the new one. Now both are officially AVGN games by ScrewAttack & FreakZone Games. I been an fan of the show since probably 2007 or 2008. As an bonus I will redo my review on AVGN movie. Eventually I will do an review on one of my personal favorite shows. But it's time to see if all of these are worthy of the fucking nerd.

1. The Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (2013)

Over the years some fans made games based on the show. Most of them are okay with some being great. Such as AVGN Ko Boxing for an while was the closest great AVGN game. Then FreakZone Games came out with AVGN Adventures. In this game, The Nerd & his friends got pulled inside an TV. The Nerd became part of an shitty game inspired by so many games he reviewed. There are four playable characters each playing differently. The Nerd is the all around character as he's the second best jumper. His gun helps out a lot with the most angles to attack. Bullshit Man from You Know What's Bullshit series hands down the worst. He is the only character to double jump but he jumps the lowest. Bullshit Man throws feces at enemies doing more damage at everyone else. Yet he is the slowest character actually slower than the slowest enemies of the entire game. Mike from James & Mike show brings a lot of good stuff. Like Luigi in Super Mario Brothers 2, Mike is the highest jumper. Mike has the best controls of all the characters. He attacks oddly enough with an light saber with the fastest attack rate. But it's also the shortest attack range out of all the playable characters. Although it does kill zombies faster than those characters. Without question the best playable character is Kyle aka Couch Guy. It's true he's an skeleton but with an guitar. His attack range does variety depending where you're standing. But his weapon can attack multiple enemies & hit switches at the same time. Couch Guy jumps a little short of The Nerd but good for the most part. I highly recommend using him in flying portions of the game. It's an huge difference after playing as the other characters in those parts. Now I bet some of you are probably dying to hear my thoughts on the bosses.

Like some games like Mega Man series. After playing the first level, you can select one of eight levels. After beating all eight of them, you'll unlock the final level.

1. Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (Assholevania)

James's most hated game forever left an mark on his soul. Now he must face it once more in his epic video game adventure. You can only avoid Mr. Hyde whose constantly jumping & firing projectiles. Once he transforms to Dr. Jekyll, he becomes really vulnerable. I'm not kidding he is the weakest boss of the entire game. I am glad I don't have to worry about death blocks. One of the few boss fights I enjoy.

2. Happy Unicorn (Happyfun Candy Time)

Clearly My Little Pony parody character. Mostly flying all over the place. You have to watch out for him as well at the open gasp in the middle. This boss also loves to keep saying I'm happy almost like this song come on you know it. Happy Happy Joy Joy lol enough of that shit. Thankfully this is one of the easier bosses to predict.

3. Skylar from Cybermorph (Future Fuckballs 2010)

Who doesn't remember that joke from Atari Jaguar Episodes? You are flying on an silver surfer board firing like most shooters that style. First you must take out all those identical heads which acts as an shield. After that her face becomes red getting piss off. At this point you should nail your controls in those portions. Otherwise you could be here a while since she gets very hard to avoid. Again thank you for no death blocks.

4. The Christmas Ghosts (Blizzard of Balls)

Almost everyone did their take on A Christmas Carol. One of the most remade Christmas stories in history. Of course The Nerd did his own version in two episodes back in Season 2. After riding Santa's body down, you face all three Christmas ghosts. Past, Present & Yet to Come aka Death in one boss fight. This boss fight was actually inspired by another boss in Bram Stoker's Dracula on Sega Genesis & SNES versions. Where you face all three Dracula's wives in the same style. They constantly circle around to keep following you. After an few minutes, they briefly meet up in one spot. You can only hurt them when they're close together. Again I'm glad there's no death blocks. But most of this area is slippery leading to a lot of accidental deaths. Plus there's an few gasps in between that will kill you. Thus making it even harder to fight this boss. I like the concept of it, very surprised this ended up in the game. I'm not an big fan of this boss fight but it's better than some.

Considering Ghost of Christmas Present was played by Handsome Tom. At the time, ScrewAttack had two guys running their website. Craig decided to cut him loose which led to Doug Walker aka Nostalgia Critic giving him his own website. Unfortunately not too long ago his website officially closed down. The point is these two weren't on good terms.

5. Demon from Super Mario Brother 3 Episode (Thy Farts Consumed)
This demon once possessed one of the greatest games. Now he's back to settle the score in this game. Like Happy Unicorn, he mostly flies around. At first an few death blocks comes from the bottom to the top. After getting him half way down, you'll have to constantly avoid all these death blocks. The boss itself isn't that hard compared to most bosses. But you still could die because it's difficult to stay on top of those death blocks & him. I do like this is taking place as both of them are falling. Clearly the best choice for an fire theme level boss.

6.The Giant Claw (Dungeons & Dickholes)

In my opinion the best boss of the entire game. The Giant Claw was stated in another video to be Rolfe's favorite giant monster. I know I don't need to explain how Manos & this are connected because The Nerd already did that. Unlike Skylar, this boss even with death blocks is a lot of fun. You can only move half the screen while avoiding long projectiles & you guess it death blocks. I love The Giant Claw's death animation the best. Upon beating him, he loses his head then dies right afterwards. You can only attack his head but the way you can go about this is what makes it so great. Personally my strategy is make sure you're playing as Couch Guy at that part. You can fire & easily avoid all hazards at the same time.

7. General Custer (Beat It & Eat It)

I tried finding an better picture so sorry in advance. One of the most controversial games in history. Where General Custer rapes an Indian woman while avoiding arrows. Guess what not much has changed because that's all still going on in this game. General Custer will I can't believe I'm about to say this his cum at you. You still need to worry about arrows as well as General Custer jumping around. The second easiest boss once you get the pattern down. At the same time what in God's name am I playing?

8. Freddy & Jason (Boo! Haunted House)

The second best boss fight for many reasons. So far an handful of bosses involve multiple characters. Yes hard to see death blocks are an problem at first. You are facing Jason wielding an chainsaw & Freddy's hand. This is inspired by four Halloween episodes. Jason only goes back & forward while Freddy goes up down pattern to both sides of your screen. After killing one of them, the other gets a lot faster. Keeping you on the edge like you already have been. Yes I died a lot fighting this boss yet I really like it.

Final Boss: Fred Fucks (Laughin' Jokin' Numbnuts)

Fred Fuchs was an developer of an Bram Stoker's Dracula game. On and off The Nerd would make jokes centering around his name. It's about time for the man himself to confront The Nerd about it. This man was the reason why The Nerd & his friends are inside Game Land. Fred Fucks has the most phrases of all the bosses. All of them keeps you on the edge until the very end. Like some bosses, you need to avoid gasps but spikes & his attack patterns more often. Even without death blocks, Fred Fucks is the hardest boss hands down. It always feels great kicking his ass once in an while. I mean he throws several spiked balls & shits on you all in one boss fight. He flies around with barely to no safe areas. I will say he was an fitting final boss but it's very difficult even on easy mode.

I really don't like death blocks especially in some levels. They got really carried away with so many of them. Some bosses are very frustrating for most to want to keep coming back to this game. I do enjoy most of the playable characters. I do enjoy it's soundtrack that works with every part of the game. Yes this game can be very difficult at times. You can't deny this was still his first official video game not counting Texting of the Bread. I love a lot of jokes in many episodes are done through out. It was meant to be difficult for an great number of games he reviewed are difficult. Therefore this was meant to be in his own words NES hard. I do have trouble coming back to it but I do like it for what it is.

2. Angry Video Game Nerd The Movie (2014)

This was heavily mixed by it's fan base. I thought it was an interesting take on an high profile video game myth. You know about hundreds of Atari games got buried in an New Mexico desert. Shortly after the release of ET & Pac-Man on Atari 2600. By this point ET was Rolfe's biggest request to date. Everyone on the internet really wanted him to review this game. Instead of doing an episode about it like most games. He decided to really step up his game by making it into an movie. What's interesting is no movie company would fund his movie. So he starts an funding event for his fans to support his movie. In turn we are the reason this movie got made in the first place. Sadly I didn't get to donate although I did want to long story. The Nerd decides to look into this myth himself. Which led to an conspiracy within our government, an alien & an god like being. Yes this isn't like most AVGN episodes where he's reviewing the games. The Nerd goes on an road trip to uncover the truth. I won't spoil the ending for those that still haven't seen it. I do however need to take about his review of ET. You have to go through the entire movie for it's ending credits just to see him review it. Honestly I don't mean this because he did an movie based on it's myth. At the same time as long he did review ET at some point then I will be happy. One of my favorite ending credits in more recent movie history. I like a lot of these characters especially General Onward. Almost every time I see him, I'm laughing hard. Who doesn't remember where's  my fucking arm lol priceless. Also I can't help going any further without stating the obvious. General Onward moves away like an small angry tank. Of course because I do need to talk about this in the next review of this blog. I might as well let the cat out of the bag. Just when you thought the movie was crazy enough. They introduce an god more powerful than both God & Satan named Death Mwauthzyx. Whose really over the top rivaling General Onward. I will say I thought most of the jokes were funny. In an weird way it reminds me of an earlier short firm Rolfe made. I think you know the one but for those that don't know The Wizard of Oz 3: Dorothy Goes to Hell. For an movie made by money donated I'm happy with it. Yes it might not be what we all expected it to be. But in truth this still was an great movie. I prefer watching it over playing the first AVGN game.

3. The Angry Video Game Nerd II: ASSimilation (2016)
The Nerd is back for more video game action. The same team behind the original AVGN game returns. You only play as The Nerd but it does make up for it in an big way. The story is an joke to many games he reviewed for not telling an great story. The Nerd was sleeping while most of the world became pixelated creatures. He wakes up to find out the world became very different & notices some of his stuff gone. The Nerd decides to save the world as well as find his stuff. He must explore several worlds inspired by many games, AVGN movie & other series. Upon beating each world, you'll get an piece of sexforce similar to orbs in Castlevania series. As stated before only The Nerd is playable. However he plays very differently from himself of the first game. He still moves & fires similar but in more directions with wall jumping. You can find his stuff that really improves the game play. For example getting his cape allows you to glide short distance. All of them makes him even better than Kyle in some portions of AVGN Adventures. Also added are cartridges in most levels that spell out NERD. Indirectly this is an reference to the first two Duke Nukem games. In the first Duke Nukem game you can spell out DUKE. In the second Duke Nukem game you have to spell Nukem instead. But you can collect all of them in any order which I love. Just like I did for AVGN Adventures, I will spend some time talking my thoughts on all the bosses. I won't be covering all the sub bosses in that area. Why they are so similar that I can cover one to do them all. They're really isn't much differences between all the Nostalgia Critic boss fights to both Board James & Nerdy Turd. I do like the jokes that centers around all of them.

Unlike the last game, AVGN II has an Super Mario Brothers 3 inspired map screen. Most worlds has four levels with an few exceptions. You must complete all of them to unlock Final Tower.

1. Mr. Bucket (Board James)

Still one of my favorite Board James episodes. When I first saw Mr. Bucket was going to be an boss. I was laughing very hard over it. He constantly spills coughs *balls* at you during the boss fight. Only twice Mr. Bucket will keep hitting the ground to have raining balls. Oh ok it's already difficult to talk about him. Especially after seeing that episode of Board James. But I got to be honest this was an great joke. It really hit home with me from start to finish. Thankfully none of these bosses has death blocks an huge improvement. We're already off to an great start folks.

2. CAT-209 (Nerd Gaiden)

An parody of Hello Kitty & RoboCop's ED-209. CAT-209 is an giant hot pink robot. You have to constantly watch out for stuff to hit or fall on you as well as it's projectiles. CAT-209 stands in that one spot in the entire boss fight. It is an little strict where to hit but the joke behind this boss genius. I just realized what was funny about it as I'm typing all this up. The easiest boss to predict in the entire game. Personally some bosses are more fun than others.

3. Battle Frogs (Browntown)

One of my favorite bosses in both AVGN games. Battle Frogs is an parody of both TMNT & Rare's Battletoads. They're names were jokes from Battletoads episode. You have to survive three frogs that has their own amount of health. Similar to AVGN Adventures' Freddy & Jason boss fight. After killing the last frog, their parody of Master Splinter challenges you. Then just one hit he's dead which is another recurring joke on his show. Honestly I love this boss fight with an passion. Everything about it not only works but one of the absolute best bosses. Plus an series of jokes in one boss fight that gets an room of people laughing. You know you did an great job at making an great AVGN boss.

4. Dracula (Monster Madness)

To clarify this character was inspired by Castlevania's Dracula. Everyone knows Dracula usually is the final boss. In majority of them having an handful of forms with little to no reason to explain it. In this case you face him like normal in his first phrase. Then he transforms from an vampire to an giant werewolf. Now we're at the second phrase where Dracula cleaning his ass like an dog back & forward. After that he transforms into an giant werewolf knight. The second easiest phrase of all those this boss goes through. Dracula moves so much slower compared to how fast he was going. He briefly dies to become his final phrase. Dracula becomes an ghost that has the second lowest health of all the bosses in both AVGN games. The big joke is usually in Castlevania series. Each later form of Dracula gets more difficult. In this game it's the opposite lol plus an vampire werewolf knight ghost wtf. Just like Battle Frogs, everything just works. I really enjoy how great this boss actually was.

5. General Onward (Area 52)

You now know I love this guy but I did expect he would be an boss in this game. How did I know you are wondering? AVGN movie came out roughly an year after the first AVGN game. Considering so many people love how crazy he was in the movie. I figured they could do a lot with him in this game. Hell yeah they did with some of this game's best jokes. General Onward moves very slow for majority of his boss fight. Just like AVGN movie, he does lose both his arms. I really like the team behind this actually attempted this joke from Star Wars episode. Darth Vader says stuff you expect until he transforms into an giant scorpion. In this case General Onward became an transformer lol I love it. You can easily avoid missiles thanks to these portals.

Final Boss: Death Mwauthzyx (Final Tower)

Death Mwauthzyx from AVGN movie is responsible for all this trouble. Who did you think it was Bugs Bunny lol. Unlike Fred Fucks of the first game, this final boss fight is perfect. Death Mwauthzyx will try grabbing you during it. Close to half way through, he will send robots after you at an fast rate. An reference to enemies constantly on screen joke. Then his so called babe magnet becomes an nerd magnet. An strong pulling will happen to try keeping you on the left side of your screen. You can only hurt his hands but wow Death Mwauthzyx. He looks very good in sprites blowing everyone away. It's funny in the movie, The Nerd couldn't do much at all to him. In this game he beat the most powerful being in existence. I smell another recurring joke an mile away. I really enjoy doing this boss fight every single time.

AVGN II: ASSimilation is an very good licensed game. I did honestly try liking the first game as much as I wanted to. This game blew all of my expectations away. It's rare for an video game sequel to be this good. For example Sonic 2, Fallout 3, Twisted Metal 2, etc... Again I enjoy listening to the soundtrack which is much better than that of the first AVGN game. A lot less death blocks with very creative level designs. I really like the map system as it took a lot of stress & frustration that the first game had. I also like his upgrades which were better than all playable characters of the previous game combined. With the possible exception of sub bosses, I really enjoy all the bosses. This game really felt like you were The Nerd in this game. I also like most jokes were better done with some being really funny. I really couldn't ask more for this game. It's so damn good that I would play it nonstop for an month than watch the movie. I am not kidding it's so addicting, well thought out and refreshing. Yes you heard me refreshing possibly the funniest modern game I ever played. Just barely beat out Conker's Bad Fur Day in it's humor department.

Now it's time for an bonus for those who are big fans of AVGN. This will go quickly because I already explained all the boss fights in both games. So I'm just listing it for the record of my favorite AVGN bosses.

Top 10 AVGN Bosses
10. Demon
9. Mr. Bucket
8. General Onward
7. The Christmas Ghosts
6. Dracula
5. Freddy & Jason
4. Fred Fucks
3. Battle Frogs

Top 20 Sonic Levels In The Last Twenty Years (Part 3 of Sonic 25th Anniversary Blog Series)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I decided to take on an difficult concept. So many people believe most newer Sonic games aren't good games. Although there is some truth to that, there's still plenty of good ones. In fact I am going out of my way to make an Top 18 list of the best levels in the last twenty years. Just to prove there is still some good within the Sonic series. Unlike the last two blogs, this one does have some guidelines I will be following.

Rules for this Top 18 list are as followed below...
1. Must be able to play as Sonic
2. Only main console games are allowed
3. No final levels
4. No just boss levels
5. No hidden levels
6. Must be really fun to constantly replaying
7. Only two levels per an game
8. No bad Sonic games allowed coughs *Sonic 06*

Now I got so many great levels to cover that any Sonic fan is going to love this. I am listing a lot of my favorite Sonic levels. I am going all out on giving you fellow fans & Sega an great list for the upcoming anniversary. Possibly an great number of these are level sets. Meaning I am actually putting several levels in one spot. Remember all of this is my opinion not yours. Also I wouldn't make an list like this for any other video game franchise. Without further delay let's get started.

18. Splash Hill Zone (Sonic 4 Episode 1)

Sega made so many levels inspired by Green Hill Zone. This may not be anything special for Splash Hill Zone. But most would agree it's still one of the best zones in the entire game. I love the theme song as it's one of my favorite newer Sonic songs. I did like they added plants to help get you up places.

17. Sylvania Castle Zone (Sonic 4 Episode 2)

I always did like this more than Splash Hill Zone. Not only it had more interesting level design. It had an better boss fight with more classic inspired paths. Some of the best water levels in the entire series. Each one gets more different making it harder even for the first zone.

16. Ocean Palace (Sonic Heroes)

I wasn't an big fan of Sonic Heroes but it did have good levels. Ocean Palace was one of them with many possible paths. I felt it was one of the few levels to truly meant for it's team system. You do get an okay boss but again it somehow still works.

15. Tropical Coast (Sonic Lost World)

I always enjoy playing Tropical Coast every single time I play it. I just love everything about this area. You get an great song with interesting level designs. Again boss fights are okay but not repetitive like some games. Even it's own unique style it still feels like an true Sonic level.

14. Sky Sanctuary Zone (Sonic Generations)

You get to play two great recreations of an classic zone. Both in my opinion are actually better. They did such an amazing job with both Sonics on this level. Everything about it was done justice with an great song. You really can't go wrong with either version in Sonic Generations.

13. Crazy Gadget (Sonic Adventure 2)

For the most part this is an great level. Easily one of my favorite space/space station levels. An great song with interesting gravity use. I love every enemy placement in this level which is rare for me to say. Who could forget the curve ball you must figure out an maze in space.

12. Seaside Hill (Sonic Heroes)

Easily my favorite area in Sonic Heroes. Most of them are hard to memorize & repetitive. Plus camera angles does play an huge part in that. Seaside Hill had an great song with the best levels of Sonic Heroes. You get an okay boss but most of it is addicting to play.

11. Tropical Resort (Sonic Colors)

This first area made an huge impact on me. Every single level in it was so good. It had great songs with some of my favorite levels. I did enjoy taking on the boss with very well thought out level designs. It comes very close to perfect in everything area imaginable.

10. White Park Zone (Sonic 4 Episode 2)

Hands down the best zone of Sonic 4 Episode 2. I like all the levels are more different than the last. Most zones usually stay the same with an few exceptions. In this case all four levels are unique in their own right. I really enjoy Metal Sonic's boss fight. An great snow/carnival level many would enjoy.

9. Rooftop Run (Sonic Unleashed)

One of the few levels that stands out in Sonic Unleashed. It is so much fun to play as Sonic during the day here. You get to grind often with well placed enemies. Hell you get to go very high up an clock tower to grind all the way down. There is an learning curve but I highly recommend it.

8. Nightmare Zone (Sonic Lost World)

Originally one of three dlcs for Wii U version of Sonic Lost World. In PC version you get Nightmare Zone for free. I already talked an great deal about it in one of my last blogs. I still want to say it really was the best level of the entire game. You may face bosses but it is more than an boss rush.

7. Windmill Isle (Sonic Unleashed)

Regardless which form of Sonic, Windmill Isle is fun. They did an great job with it's new system at the time. It is slightly better than Rooftop Run because it's easier to memorize. I also like it's song as well as interesting level design. It just simply works to keep you coming back for more.

6. Casinopolis (Sonic Adventure)

Some characters share this level but Sonic had the best version. The goal is different from most Sonic levels. You must collect 400 rings that requires you to play mini games. An similar concept was done as an bonus during Sonic 3 & Knuckles. You can play two pinball games with one having an Nights cameo. You also could sometimes race out of the basement area back in the casino. Honestly I always get addicted to how fun this level gets.

5. Starlight Carnival (Sonic Colors)

Very colorful, great songs, some unique, addicting levels I ever played. Everything about it really pushes the standards of an great Sonic level. I really enjoy the boss fight with some spin offs had levels based on it. Regardless there's nothing like the original level set in Sonic Colors.

4. Speed Highway (Sonic Adventure)

I do enjoy both versions of Sonic Generations Speed Highway. Again there isn't anything like the original level. You can ride on an helicopter, on rockets & some crazy intense level designs. I really love the song playing. They did so much with this one level that it inspired many Sonic levels.

3. City Escape (Sonic Adventure 2)

Again I did enjoy both versions of Sonic Generations City Escape. This level is really addicting to play. You get an great level with an good song. Some of the best enemy placements in the entire series. You gotta to love an giant truck chasing you. Even for an first level on Team Hero it's that damn good.

2. Casino Street Zone (Sonic 4 Episode 1)

I bet many of you are surprised I put Casino Street Zone so high. Let me explain yes it is inspired by Sonic 2's Casino Night Zone. But they actually made it very differently with cards, easily getting lives & very interesting level designs. I love the songs playing with an good take on an classic boss. From the moment I first played this zone, I knew right away I loved it.

1. Chemical Plant Zone (Sonic Generations)

Honestly they did such an great job recreating Chemical Plant Zone twice. It's so good that I really couldn't find any flaws. Why because it fixes the few I would have with Sonic 2's version. Both versions are very interesting takes on the same classic zone. Plus having an way to play one version of it without touching the water genius. I really couldn't ask for an better Sonic level in the last twenty years.

Yes what an crazy list but Sega always had crazy ideas over the years. Why should my list be any different? I hope you guys enjoy my blog, I still have an long way to go
