Bonus Halloween Blog #17 Parasyte anime review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I felt I needed to represent more horror anime shows this year. I decided on another great one I watched thanks to Toonami called Parasyte. Despite the time gap between the manga & anime versions, they're nearly the same story with a few notable changes. I would say I do recommend this show especially if you wanna freak people out.

Parasyte

The story goes like parasitic aliens are possessing living creatures including humans. These creatures are rather unpleasant that devours or flat out kills humans that crosses their path. A high school student named Shinichi during one night had one of these aliens attempted to take control of him. Due to using a wire to prevent blood flow, the creature later named Migi claimed Shinichi's right arm.

Overtime, the two works together taking on more of Migi's kind. Also you should expect a huge body count too. I know I recently covered a movie called The Faculty but these aliens makes those seem like child's play in comparison. These aliens have superior overall senses as well as stats making them too dangerous for humans to handle.

In other words, unlike Shinichi is going to save you. Well you already dead, you won't have time to fully realize it either because these creatures can move ridiculously fast. Yes they also can posses animals as well but acts similar to those possessing animals. It kinda reminds me of The Thing (1982) movie because they could take over friends or family when you won't expect it.

Sadly in Shinichi's case with his mom it happened. Very few people outside the creatures themselves knows what's going on. Some of them are in high position within an organization too. Most parasite creatures are highly intelligent but falls victim to having to devour humans. No they aren't vampires either just in case anyone started to think that.

Yes more than one parasitic alien can control a body. One strong person had several parasites inside of him. My favorite character is in fact Migi, he's so strangely interesting. I like how he does adapt to changing his ways with Shinichi during the course of the story. Parasyte does play off of paranoia as well as one of those someone in between species can handle creatures style stories.

Which is a major reason why this often gets compared to Tokyo Ghoul. Parasyte does reveal a lot of murders occurs but no one has answers. Not only that, it does take a lot of effort for humans to kill just one of these creatures. Shinichi came close of dying, Migi had to alter his body further to save his life. This also caused him to lose some of his humanity but gains notably increases stats.

In other words, Shinichi himself is now a direct threat to their kind. Of course, some of them does warn Shinichi & Migi. Most of them dislikes the duo, as stated before they are vicious creatures. From a hunter's point of view, they are interrupting a great hunt period. Honestly, you do feel sorry for almost everyone who falls victim to these creatures.

Parasyte is a story these two works to protect the world from the aliens. However at times, the aliens plays hard ball making it difficult at times for them. The worst part is the duo doesn't have many people to share the information they have but their enemies are well connected. The parasites can move to another body.

If the host they're currently attached to dies, they also die with them. Unless, they were able to disconnect themselves to prevent that from happening. Unlike The Faculty, using drugs isn't the answer here. No we are talking fighting back with one of their own. So indirectly in a weird sense, this is sorta like Stephanie Meyers' The Host.

Both involves parasitic aliens that came to Earth taking over humans. Some of them are high up in organizations. There's a few differences between the two. In Parasyte, if they reached the brain. They effectively killed the host but in a way they move in to take over the body. In The Host's case, they simply take over but the actual person is still alive inside capable of talking to them.

Another major difference is in Parasyte the aliens are essentially monsters. In vice versa, the aliens in The Host are more peaceful creatures that took over several planets to prevent the worst possibility. Look I will be honest, I heavily dislike Stephanie Meyers especially for creating Twilight series. I only mentioned this comparison because the concept was somewhat similar.

By the way, The Host came out in 2008 while Parasyte manga originally ran in Japan from 1988-1995. There's no question, I do prefer Parasyte. I also heavily disliked The Host too myself. Parasyte can be somewhat nightmare fuel for it's death scenes. I will say this, there's a good ending despite all the horrific things that happened.
