Jack Red reviews The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror episodes

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, a few months ago I did review The Simpsons. But among my favorite episodes, how can you not have Treehouse of Horror episodes? These episodes are mostly non canon but alter things in more interesting ways. I am not saying all of these short stories are good because some aren't.

Season 2 is when the long standing legacy that is Treehouse of Horror begun. This upcoming Sunday will officially mark two different things. It will be episode 666 wow oh okay I guess not even them saw this coming. The other thing is it will be airing the thirtieth Treehouse of Horror episode. Every Treehouse of Horror episode is usually three short stories.

There does exist a lot of horror anthology movies out there. Maybe one day I'll review a couple of them. A lot of inspiration came from classic horror comics, movies and shows. You would be surprised the amount of work that goes into some of these episodes. Like Treehouse of Horror VI, parts of the episode was done in 3D animation.

Keep in mind, this was a new thing around the time this aired. I would say for an early 90s episode to nailing that was mind blowing. The creativity is at it's highest here. All of these together virtually is Halloween. You will experience all kind of fears in a way that's surprisingly uplifting at times. Let's be honest, some parodies like Avatar for me just didn't work.

Usually two aliens Kang and Kodos appears in majority of these episodes. They don't have many canon appearances in the show. Although one of them does confirm Futurama is in fact in the same universe as The Simpsons. Don't worry I'll review Futurama soon. Obviously Treehouse of Horror acts as it's own multiverse.

The possibilities are constantly going through the roof. True fact, there is a trivia Simpsons board game. Where Simpsons fans can send in questions with answers to the people making it. I was lucky enough to get two of mine accepted into the board game. One of my questions so happens to be related to the most famous Treehouse of Horror episode of them all.

Of course, you know already know which one it is. Treehouse of Horror V is hands down the best written among them. I felt it was so damn good that there was no way they could top it. Honestly it's been a long time since that episode aired now that's a testament to how great it truly is. A lot of their parodies are Simpsons versions of them that usually very well while others missed the mark.

I will say for the record, their parody of A Nightmare on Elm Street was way better than it's remake. Honestly I felt it worked way better in comparison. I even made a meme about it I'm not kidding. A lot of characters are exclusive to these particular episodes including versions of Simpsosn characters. A couple Simpsons games do bring stuff from these episodes too.

I felt The Simpsons Game and Hit & Run nailed it the best. Treehouse of Horror is a tradition for every Simpsons fan. We must watch the new one every year while it's still airing them. Just imagine going through our first Halloween not having a new Treehouse of Horror episode. Honestly there's plenty of material to make it into a show of it's own, another game that don't suck or more than that.

Treehouse of Horror brings out a side to all of us fans. We already know they aren't holding back in any possible way. Some of my favorite couch gags are from those episodes too. One of them had Robert Englund reprising his role as Freddy Krueger for a few seconds. Sometimes it's amazing what they allow to air on TV.

Like Homega Man, Homer has a stereo playing while being nude inside a church. WOW they wouldn't go far doing that today unless it's South Park or Archer. In all seriousness, these episodes are legendary in what they bring to the table. Just imagine someone creating a giant Simpsons movie out of all these episodes.

Even if I have to be the crazy one to do it myself. Clearly the team is a huge horror fan. It is no secret, Halloween is among their favorite holidays. Let's be honest, it can be stressful to getting out a little over twenty episodes per a season. I think Treehouse of Horror allows them to let a lot of that out in a fun way.

A fun trick to know which number a newer Treehouse of Horror will be. Look at the current season number then remove one there you go. Even how they do wrap around stories is vastly different. The among of history represented in all of these is greater than you could possibly imagine. I believe one of the oldest movies they ever recreated was called The Golem from 1915.

Most don't know of it's existence because it was a lost Golden Age horror movie. I felt they did a good enough job with their version of it. I was kinda hoping for Creepshow II with the Indian statue more. I could literately spend hours among hours talking about these episodes I'm really not kidding. Some of the stuff they done are pretty ridiculous.

Like Reaper Madness, where Homer killed the grim reaper to become his replacement. Yes I know Family Guy did it's own take. I got a confession, that particular Family Guy episode always been my favorite. But I will say I do still enjoy watching Reaper Madness. I thought it was just as well written with some great jokes.

Just imagine suddenly becoming the reaper of souls. The very idea would be terrifying to everyone else. Of course there was another story with a black hole. They took on all kind of stories even more so than most canon episodes. To me, not doing an Treehouse of Horror episode makes a season not complete.

Before this gets mistaken for something I didn't actually say. Season 1 had some trouble while they were airing episodes. The actual concept came during it at one point to start with Season 2. Who knew this would be the most connected Simpsons episodes in history. Honestly I love they can virtually do whatever they want.

At the same time, it won't actually affect the canon episodes. Genius if I say so, these episodes made Halloween more joyful for me each year. Keep in mind, I was born a month before Season 1 aired. Although The Simpsons shorts do predate my existence by two years. I just love they even took stuff that originally wasn't horror at all like their parody of Cat in the Hat.

They even done a parody inspired by Jumanji with several board games affecting real life. Honestly they should be proud they made every single Treehouse of Horror episode. I don't even think The Simpsons got a world record for the most Halloween specials to a TV show. I been curious to know why myself.
