A few quick Death Battle predictions (Yu Yu Hakusho vs. Hunter x Hunter theme)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I felt I should make this style of blog to further explain stuff relating to versus matches on Yu Yu Hakusho vs. Hunter x Hunter fights. Now I am doing this out of respect not to make one of the franchises to look bad. Trust me, the last thing I want is to do that. So I got a few quick predictions with the same guide lines I used in a similar blog.

1. Yusuke Urameshi vs. Gon Freecss

I seen people requesting this fight more often for Death Battle. Don't get me wrong I would love to see both of these characters on their show. But there's a few major problems making the winner very obvious. Yusuke is an upper S Class character whose among the top tier characters of his universe. By default, Gon would be around an D Class character in Yusuke's universe.

Now he obviously has a trump card move. Where he rapidly ages to his prime but this comes with a few problems. This alone puts a very heavy strain on his child body to the point it could kill him. Also this acts as a temporary power boost. Now this would be a little difference if Gon was stronger after doing it to better control of using this technique.

But Gon only done this technique once against one of Meruem's royal guards owning her badly in the process. Yusuke has access to his life force, spiritual energy & demonic energy from his demon side. Three different sources of energy while Gon has just one. Gon in that state is close to top tier character's level.

But in Yu Yu Hakusho, it is likely to get an C Class rank. No I am not low balling Gon here. Gon haven't done stuff similar to what Younger Toguro whose an B Class can do. Like one blow caused a building to collapse or carrying a replacement ring by himself. Obviously Gon has unnatural physical strength before even becoming an licensed hunter.

But Yusuke can easily take him down with ease. Yes Gon has powerful techniques but in comparison require more time to pull off. Also he has to be accurate to nailing a blow since it isn't fast. Even if it were fast, Yusuke was fast enough to have a quick punching section with Hiei. A character on many occasions to being faster than the eye can see.

Also Yusuke's techniques is simply better suited to a greater variety of opponents. Yes Gon is a clever strategist but so is Yusuke. Now I get why so many want this fight. They're both the main characters in two of the most famous mangas in the world by the same author who wears green. Yusuke stomps heavily in stats, raw power, more energy & a greater overall potential.

Winner: Yusuke Urameshi

2. Hiei vs. Killua Zoldyck

Obviously I talked a great deal about Hiei in a few blogs. I still need to state the obvious here. Hiei is an upper S Class character. He defeated five hundred A Class demons on his side. Despite this, I felt they actually got more in common than most of the main four characters. Both of them in an sense are assassins.

Killua does use electricity but Hiei quickly came back from a electric attack like it's nothing. Killua is likely going to be an D Class character in Hiei's universe. Obviously they're two of the fastest characters in their respective universes. But Hiei has shown greater level of speed in comparison. We are talking about a guy even greatly weakened was still faster than the eye can see.

Killua could count as a hyper sonic theme character due to some of his electric techniques. I should mention Killua uses specialized yoyos no I'm not kidding. These can rip right through trees but also could potentially kill people. Honestly even those wouldn't mattered in this fight. Hiei also has the Jagan eye that's ultimately why Killua would lose this fight.

You see this eye can allow Hiei to read Killua's mind, erase memories and create false memories. In other words, he has a few methods staying right on top of him not counting his ridiculous speed. He also could erase his memories relating to his fighting style to greatly limit his options. Also this being an random one on one encounter.

Killua wouldn't even know what Hiei is capable of. I will be honest to say both of them are easily among my favorite characters in both universes. But Hiei is simply too much for Killua even if he brought Gon into this fight. Now I know the complexity of Hunter x Hunter universe does play a role to a degree here.

I just can't ignore Hiei is way too powerful in comparison. His speed could easily surpass Killua's top speed with ease. His direct electric attacks are essentially useless here. Killua could put up some form of resistance mentally but it won't last enough. Technically speaking, Hiei could use the Jagan eye to control him with ease too.

Winner: Hiei

3. Kazuma Kuwabara vs. Leorio Paradinight

This one doesn't get thrown around as much. But in a way I do see why. Both of them are very quick to anger. They do have some great advantages over each other. I do need to point a critical fact about Kuwbara out. In the manga, he does become an S Class character. Yet in the anime version, the highest he goes is A Class.

Which is still ridiculously powerful for the human world to handle. Obviously Kuwabara easily wins in raw power alone. Despite how he fights is vastly different from many characters. He also has a superior weapon for this fight too. In his fight with Byako, he was able to stretched his spirit sword around to counted it in place.

Leorio is technically more of a strategist also due to the fact he's in the process of becoming an doctor. Yes he is an licensed hunter, Kuwabara does give up fighting late in the manga. If the power difference wasn't so big, this would've been a great thing for Leorio. Leorio did once punched Gon's father off his feet.

Although this was done intentionally since Ging knew what was going to happen. Leorio was a top candidate to becoming the next chairman among the hunters. So Ging would've fought back to own him badly if the situation was different. Ging is one of the strongest hunters in his universe. He basically let his own guard down on purpose.

Let's be honest, this is a straight forward fight. Sure Leorio knows more about the human body. But Kuwabara still has to hold back since he has enough power to destroy the human world. Even holding back a great deal, he will likely win this fight. I would rather see an argument or debate among these two than an actual fight now that would be way more entertaining lol.

I should mention, Kuwabara may not got training like many characters in his universe. He does have a lot of street fighting experience. After all, he was Yusuke's rival prior to his death. Leorio obviously spending a lot of time studying to becoming an doctor. So he doesn't have as much combat experience as the other three main characters in comparison.

Winner: Kazuma Kuwabara

4. Kurama vs. Kurapika

OMG, I also see a lot of people requesting this for Death Battle. But in a way I deeply understand. They are very similar characters in ways you wouldn't believe. I can technically say their differences aren't that different either. Both of them have a trump card that's worth noting in versus fight debates. Kurama gain the ability to transform into Yoko Kurama whose was him in his past life.

Kurapika has one of the absolute scariest potentials in his universe. When his eyes becomes red, all of the categories for all Nen type users becomes 100%. This essentially means he can do virtually anything including what some of the finest in their respective fields can't do in theory. Kurama uses demonic plants while Kurapika uses his Nen chains.

Although parts of that are exclusively for those among the Phantom Troupe. He also has a condition that in the event he uses that part of his Nen chains on someone else, he dies. But he also shown to force these onto others before. Kurapika can decide what you shouldn't do or you will die after doing that.

It is highly unlikely he would use that part of his Nen chains on Kurama. He was clever enough in taking down the physically strongest member of the Phantom Troupe by himself. Let's be honest, both of these characters are tactical geniuses. They are among some of the smartest in their respective universes.

Kurama by default has deadlier techniques like the one that killed Karasu or an tree used on Elder Toguro. Keep in mind, that tree is meant to suck out your life but Toguro was immortal. Just knowing Kurama has something like this makes him scary. Kurama is also an S Class character while Kurapika is likely around the ball park of D Class in comparison.

Honestly I do imagine more likely scenarios Kurapika could win this fight. It is way more likely out of the main four characters debates by far. Kurapika could enforce Kurama to no longer using his techniques. But he still would have a tough fight on his hands. At least, an weakened Kurama does partly help to even the playing field to a degree.

Hell, Gama used his paint to prevent his usage of spiritual energy. So this concept does exist within the Yu Yu Hakusho universe as well. At the time, Kurama had a difficult time with this. But he is likely to hold up a lot better in this fight. Both of them are difficult to predict making this easily the most difficult one to truly decide a victor.

Without everything considered, Kurapika could enforce what would be a draw on Death Battle. But it is unlikely Kurama would use spiritual energy if that's the condition to not die by his Nen chains. Also by using a part meant for the Phantom Troupe is more likely to kill Kurapika before that even becomes an issue.

Kurama's transformation also increases his stats along with his level of power too. To be fair, Kurapika is more of an unique character. He could do things that no body could potentially do on their own. Kurapika does have superior training thanks to the hunter exam as well as his teacher for his Nen abilities.

Winner: Kurama

5. Suzuki vs. Hisoka

Here is the kicker, I just did a little more research on Suzuki. Even he does become an S Class character. he isn't a greater fighter at all. Hisoka has constantly proven to be a great fighter. Even going up against Chrollo. Hisoka could caught on to him changing disguises. Let's be honest, even with limitations of Nen abilities.

Suzuki isn't that skilled with his own techniques. He didn't even last long in both tournaments he competed in. Also Hisoka's techniques Suzuki wouldn't understand. Yes I know he technically a more powerful character. But he haven't even pushed beyond his limits in canon. I meant that in a bad way too to clarify.

Hisoka is easily smarter, more adaptive & truly impressive fighting skills. An older Genkai easily defeated Suzuki in combat is clear proof of that. Suzuki relies on all the wrong things during a fight. I hate to say this, Hisoka has a surprisingly easy fight for one that's suppose to go the opposite way. Hisoka can handle being over whelmed to a degree while Suzuki can not.

Winner: Hisoka

Alright I found one fight debate between the two franchises where an Hunter x Hunter character wins. Maybe in the near future, I might be able to find another one.

  1. Yes I changed the final prediction because I didn't know Suzuki as well as I thought. Thankfully a friend called me out on it so I changed it.
