Top 5 More Reasons Why Soulcalibur is better than Super Smash Brothers

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I realized I still got a few more great reasons why I prefer Soulcalibur over Super Smash Brothers. I figured why not share those reasons as well. Now keep in mind, this is strictly my opinion only. There's fans for one or the other or both or even people that doesn't like both of them at all.

5. Better looking character selection screens

For me this is an obvious one. They just don't put enough details in any Super Smash Brothers character selection screens. Yes in the later games they have a lot of characters including dlc ones. But at least Soulcalibur put more effort in parts where it counts. Like the background or character icons or displaying actual characters.

In most of them, you can select which of your character's weapons to use. Sometimes going the distance makes a huge impact on someone. The music is usually better than what plays in most Super Smash Brothers. I am talking about the songs playing during character selection screen to clarify. I also liked even selecting a different outfit or color palettes had more effort put in as well.

4. More direct game mechanics change during modes
Let's be honest, there's a variety of modes in both franchises. Obviously some will play differently due to what you need to do. Now with that said, I see more notable game mechanic changes in Soulcalibur series. Of course this is usually in the long modes like Libra of Souls or Weapon Master. I felt this gives you more reason to get better at the game.

Some of these are surprisingly easy while others can be difficult. Either a great challenge or just plain unfair. Trust me there's plenty of those present. Regardless you have to pay attention to the descriptions to know how to go about it. Otherwise you will lose, I don't feel that way playing any of the Super Smash Brothers games.

Sometimes this will affect how you can win greatly limiting your options. Like you are facing an invincible where you must ring them out in order to win. All of that does is forcing you to try your best to ring them out since everything else will not work. To me, the team behind Soulcalibur series put more thought into spicing things up.

3. Breaking armor & clothes

This is a cool feature because sometimes doing an attack or a series of them can destroy whatever your opponents are wearing. Yes it is possible to destroy all three sections of their armor or clothes. No you can't make anyone fully nude by doing this you sick bastards lol. I liked this since among winning sometimes feels even more satisfying especially after a difficult match.

It could take a lot of effort to break just one section or knowing particular moves to destroy it all. I felt in some character's cases, they actually look better with their damaged outfits. Again stop thinking like that lol. Honestly this makes duels much more exciting. Obviously online play stands out due to stuff like this.

There's just something about destroying something of theirs that makes me proud. Even in bad matches getting owned, destroying at least one section of their clothes/armor makes me happy. In that regard I can't say I suck. Along with customization, there's a lot of possibilities of outfits that can be destroyed.

2. Better balanced difficulties

Super Smash Brothers just jumps in the difficulties. It isn't settle like in many fighting games either. Like normal is a little tougher than easy while hard gets very repetitive. I'm sure there's more difficulties that goes more unfair than anything else. Soulcalibur series always been thoughtful about the difficulties.

There are stuff tougher than beating any story mode or arcade mode on their hardest difficulties. Like the route to Night Terror in Soulcalibur III, now this took a lot of attempts to do. The actual boss character is the most difficult opponent in the game. Most long modes has a great variety of difficulties in it's challenges.

The AI goes from being alright to being really on top on whatever you're doing. Unless you play as Inferno to cheat the challenge of harder difficulties in arcade mode. To me, it seems like the AI on harder difficulties in Super Smash Brothers series are incredibly cheap at best. They will take most opportunities to survive or doing any real damage away often.

To me, that just isn't fun, I rather have a better balanced difficult AI than this. Also the bosses are right on point too. Even training mode has some difficult to pull off moves or combos. Thankfully the game is patient enough to let you get better at it. Soulcalibur series always pushed you just enough to keep on going.

1. More awesome boss characters

This may come off being bias also again this is my opinion. To me, the bosses of this franchises just stands out more than those of Super Smash Brothers series. For example, Inferno or Elysium are respectively the spirits of their weapons that can have any fighting style. It was also confirmed that both these legendary weapons been around a long time having several centuries worth of experience.

Nightmare in Soulcalibur III does have a more powerful form called Night Terror. I have to quickly go to Abyss whose Zasamel after using both the Soul Edge & Soul Calibur together. Night Terror was essentially that with Soul Calibur to become this insanely powerful being. He is the only character that can not be ring out at all.

Algo was the original wielder of both legendary weapons that's an legendary warrior himself. Cervantes has a mess up story for a character that greatly affects the story of another character. In Soulcalibur III arcade version, Olcadan whose a mimic character. Thus he can have any fighting style as well.

Yeah you are probably noticing, this franchise goes epic in a different way. You are facing some truly terrifying opponents that can easily beat anything in their path. I just don't feel the same way with any of the bosses in Super Smash Brothers series. Sorry I honestly don't I stopped playing after Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Not only that, some of these characters you can play as. For Inferno, a handful of these games he's playable in. Although the physical representation of it, Nightmare is in most of them. Man they kept pushing the limits. I don't think we can go any higher than mimic characters or god like beings like Inferno or Night Terror.
