Nintendo 64 vs. PlayStation Face Off #9 GoldenEye vs. Tomorrow Never Dies

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, today I want to talk about James Bond. More directly a handful of Bond games I grew up playing. Of course you already knew one of them had to be the legendary GoldenEye on N64. Possibly one of the absolute greatest movie games ever made. I also had it's sequel made by another team called Tomorrow Never Dies. Yes both of them are directly based on two Bond games with Pierce Brosnan.

Rare's solo entry so happens to remain as the single greatest Bond game ever made. This also led to Perfect Dark series also by Rare & Timesplitter series by Free Radical Design. Unfortunately we also got GoldenEye: Rogue Agent by EA that was terrible. There also exists a remake on a few consoles with Daniel Craig. Yeah rap your head around that one folks. Regardless this help kick started FPS genre for consoles.

Rare refused to do a sequel based on anything James Bond. Electric Arts ends up owning the franchise up til a few years ago. One of their first Bond games was Tomorrow Never Dies. Unlike GoldenEye, it was a third person shooter. Also unlike it, they took some scenes from the film. Although I would rather watch the movie instead.

Let's be very direct this is no contest. Even if I went the unneeded extra mile here. The winner in this case is really obvious. One of the few times N64 kicked PS very bad. GoldenEye has way more to offer in comparison. You have one of the greatest multiplayers that several Bond games attempted to recreate. Even Perfect Dark on the same console rivals it's multiplayer experience.

Two levels are inspired by other Bond movies. A lot more characters including the developers & unused characters in multiplayer. Way more fun cheat codes to use making it perfect to play when you're bored. Also GoldenEye does out do the movie while Tomorrow Never Dies ends up like most of them.

Not even the soundtrack in Tomorrow Never Dies can compete with the amazing GoldenEye soundtrack. Especially in the sound effects, GoldenEye flat out wins with a golden bullet to the chest. Way more weapons with easier to memorize objectives to complete. Even James Bond looks better in GoldenEye than in Tomorrow Never Dies.

Winner: GoldenEye on Nintendo 64
