Top 10 things MediEvil 2 Remake should have

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I did own MediEvil 2 for a couple of years. Sorry I don't remember how long off hand. I do remember even playing with cheats, it had a huge impression on me. As a kid, I never considered the radical change in theme. In fact, I saw it as a sequel that has a lot of things to offer.

I figured to making a list about ten personal things I would like to see in MediEvil 2 PS4 Remake. The demand might not be as high as the original. But damn this game really tried to be something else. We got a sequel that's willing to try some interesting ideas. Sure, some of it didn't go as well but it still has a lot of potential for greatness.

10. Even if PS1 version isn't included, it would be nice to have something from that version

There are a few reasons why they might not include the original PS1 version. Most people did hit it hard for it's flaws. At the same time, a lot of people did notice it was an unique experience. Honestly, MediEvil 2 should still get something from the PS1 version. Like the original soundtrack or concept art from the original team.

Something to tell us that they do care about us. MediEvil is an unusual horror hack & slash action adventure game series. I felt this game does deserve much more respect than it currently gets. I believe if the same team that done MediEvil on PS4 works on this. They will greatly improve in the areas it fell short in.

9. Add some color to the level pictures on level selection screen

The pictures representing the levels in particular do have color. But not for the level selection screen. I don't know if this was an attempt to mimic that era's technology or they ran out of time. Just look at how beautiful MediEvil's map screen!!! Just a little bit of colors would go a long way. Maybe it is just me but come on.

Some levels you have to look longer at them. Especially the boss levels you want those to be very notable. Man it should be get something to help it pop or at least be easier to see. There do exist those who can't see colors or like myself more of color confuse. I felt, MediEvil 2 does have some artwork designs why not use more colors?

8. Add an option to have information Gargoyle instead of Winston

Let's be honest, a lot of people simply did not like the ghost character. In fact, a lot more people did like the information Gargoyle from the first game. Even if they aren't able to putting him into the game. At least, give us an option to just skip his dialogues. Unless, they did to completely revamp his character in a way people would like.

Honestly, that would be a challenge. I rather have that gargoyle over him any day of the week. It doesn't need his appearance from PS4 version to seal the deal either. Truthfully, I am not a fan of that ghost myself. I really would like for the team to consider some of these options. Or maybe what we need is a new character to replace him entirely instead who really knows.

7. Improve the camera controls

According to the reviews, the camera was worse in this game. Considering how well done the new team fixed that problem. I strongly felt, this change alone would easily make that game replayable. Not only it would save you from many deaths. It also would save you from constantly fighting against the camera even just to look around.

MediEvil 2 could also work with changing the sizes of several things to making it a more unique direction. As long it doesn't become MediEvil Resurrection go for it guys. Also, sometimes you want to check out your gears during game play. It would be very nice as a small request to bring those controls back.

6. They need to rework the fall damage system

I know I partly covered this in a previous reason. But hear me out, the falling damage was unbalanced in the original game. They really needed to either alter it to making it more fair or remove it entirely. Either of those options are way better than no platforming at all. I felt, this would help not turn off gamers from trying to completing the game.

5. Change how MediEvil 2 tells it's story

Obviously, MediEvil 2 attempted to present more actual story during the course of the game. Personally, I liked how they went about the concept. Just not a lot of it was done in a way that would make gamers happy. What I am trying to say as nicely as I possibly can is yes we do want story. Probably more than ever before.

At the same time, we need it done in a way that fits the story better. To give us more of a reason to care for these characters. Let's be honest, they could alter parts of it to spicing things up. Again don't do it like MediEvil Resurrection please. I think they could actually turn it into a game it was truly meant to be.

4. We actually need a true good ending

Not only they cut the number of Chalices down by half. I recently learned the actual amount of them. I was deeply disappointed it wasn't more than it actually was. I did heard the rewards for the most part are more worth the effort. But what ruined that was neither ending was actually a good ending. Now considering this game has time travel concept.

I think they could change those endings or likely add more endings. The concept of altering time can be ridiculous but a lot of fun to work with. I actually imagine the team enjoying adding more likely alternate time lines through endings. Hell, it could led to a new level that was previously from the original MediEvil game.

3. For the love of God, allow Health Fountains to respawn in replaying levels

I was very surprised to hear from some reviews. In revisiting levels if you previously used up a healing fountain. They don't come back, honestly that's a cheap way of making a game more difficult. Yes in a way, it forces you to change your strategy. At the same time, it lowers your chances at beating it with 100% completion or simply beating it at all.

Truthfully, that's a flaw I personally can not let go. You can't imagine how many times those things saved me in the past. It doesn't make sense they simply don't come back if they are used up. Obviously, enemies respawn while revisiting levels. So why the hell doesn't the healing fountains? This would save you money, time & increase your chances getting through difficult situations.

2. We need more possible spots to saving our process

Originally, there was no check points in any levels of MediEvil 1. But in it's defense, most levels were small in size as well as quick to get through. But MediEvil 2 made the levels bigger with some being done in a few sections representing parts of that. Essentially, there are levels so big they have to be broken up into several levels.

It is sorta like Banjo-Tooie having much bigger worlds. They had to make several spots to speed up traveling through it. In this regard, we might need more possible save spots to help out. This also would greatly help with 100% completion for those attempting it. I strongly believe this is an absolute must have.

1. Please make Iron Slugger more of a fun boss fight

A lot of people claimed Iron Slugger was the best boss fight. But a lot of people didn't like the mechanics for it as well making that rather interesting. Considering boxing in video games has come a long way. We could have this boxing match being done in several ways. It doesn't have to be done in VR which would be crazy.

I think if it played more like a twisted Punch-Out game. It would be more entertaining as well as replayable. Personally, I would drop everything to play right up to this boss fight. Just to see if it changed a little or a lot. Iron Slugger needs to stand out in this new version of MediEvil 2. Not only that, they can make the limbs flying aspect a more unique experience.
