Death Battle Fight Prediction Aang (Avatar the Last Airbender) vs. Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I personally haven't even seen a single episode of Avatar the Last Airbender. But due to some interesting fights over the last few years. I do know just what I need to know for this prediction blog. Thankfully I already knew Edward since I seen both animes. I quickly got what these two had in common.

Usually Death Battle excludes filler material with the possible exception of Goku vs. Superman fights. But in this particular case, they could allow Edward's feats from the original FMA anime. Personally for this blog, I'm giving him everything I can possibly give to help even out this fight. Honestly this is an interesting fight maybe not the best fight of both franchises but a good one.

Aang

Aang was a kid that left his home to suddenly ended up being frozen for a century. It has been said a chosen one can bend all the elements to a level most can't. Aang is part of that legacy of amazing warriors. He does his best to protect those he cares for even at the cost of his life. This guy might even be considered the best of them.

Edward Elric

Edward Elric attempted to revive his mother with his brother Al. But this led to Al losing his body. Thus forcing Edward to bond his soul to a suit of armor losing another limb in the process. Both of them gotten better at alchemy to the point they shortened it down to a simply clap. Edward is a guy you really don't want to over estimate especially some of his feats.

Powers and Abilities
Aang

+Airbending (manipulating air itself)
+Waterbending (manipulating water itself)
+Earthbending (manipulating earth itself)
+Firebending (manpiluationg fire itself)
+Energybending
+Avatar Spirit (only those part of this legacy)
+Medium
+Chi Sensing
+Agility
+Sometimes uses a staff

Edward Elric

+Alchemy
+Trained by Teacher
+Automail limbs

Weaknesses
Aang

His physical body is younger than his actual age. Which could affect him in several ways. If he or those a part of that legacy dies while in Avatar Stage, the cycle ends. Also he does get carried away at times.

Edward Elric

Edward's automail parts has a history of breaking. There's several ways to prevent one from using alchemy. He can be quite arrogant as well as cocky for his own good. Besides transmuting parts of the earth, haven't done so with other elements.

Advantages
Aang

+Physically stronger
+Capable of bending more elements
+Has several ways to prevent Edward from using alchemy
+Much faster
+Quicker reaction speed
+More durable
+More overall experience
+Avatar Stage is simply too much for Edward to handle
+Has stronger will
+Not as emotion as Edward
+Has more impressive victories under his belt

Edward Elric

+Automail limbs can tank a lot of force
+Edward is more unpredictable out of the two
+Much smarter
+Combat training from someone Fort Briggs never caught
+Through alchemy can alter the location or create weapons or change the metal of his automail

Disadvantages
Aang

-Aang is technically at his more vulnerable while in Avatar Stage
-Dying in Avatar Stage ends the legacy
-More likely to lose focus during combat
-Not as smart as Edward

Edward Elric

-Automail limbs has a history of breaking
-Overall stats is heavily in favor of Aang
-None of the methods Aang could use Edward can stop from using alchemy
-Not as experienced (yes even if I bring both anime time lines in)
-More emotional out of the two
-Usually had help against some powerful enemies including Father
-His combat skills from Teacher wouldn't matter even against Aang not using any bending skill

Verdict

End of the day this is very clear cut to the point even FMA fans would understand. Before I go into why I think Aang easily wins this fight. This is a case of how a different kind of story affects it's main character scenario. You know kinda like Goku vs. Superman but in a very different way. Edward was a alchemist that wants to give his brother back his body.

Thus both animes undercovers a lot of unpleasant truths. Sure there was some combat moments. It wasn't a major factor in how everything worked. Edward discovers some government cover ups in his journey. Of course in the name, alchemy plays a major role. Although it turns from a story to essentially reviving his brother to something much greater.

On the other hand, Aang is part of a legacy similar to characters like Link from The Legend of Zelda series. Unless one of them dies while in Avatar Stage, it will continue on to another person. This by itself could take a long time before a chosen one appears. Every avatar has unrivaled ability to manipulate earth, air, fire & water.

Aang has stopped some major tragedies from happening. This guy was frozen for a century before he was able to learn his true purpose. His story had a stronger fighting impact to how it plays out. Thus he was more likely to evolve into a better fighter because of it. This also means he has been through more physical tests for further character development.

Basically Edward isn't a fighter first. Also alchemy is usually use to manipulate one element. There are rules every alchemists must obey. Originally Edward with his brother Al had to draw a circle before using it. They shortened it down to a clap since the symbols was on Edward's gloves as well as on his automail arm.

There is ways Aang can prevent Edward from using alchemy in this fight. He could destroy or knock off his automail arm. Last I checked, Aang does have enough force to do that. Another way is bending earth to trap him in place, similar things has happened to Edward before. Of course, Aang through Energybending can simply remove that ability altogether.

Now this is a possibility due to late in the manga shortly after Father was defeated. Edward accepted to no longer use alchemy to have his brother back. So if The Truth aka the voice of God can do that then Aang should be able to as well. There is always a chance his automail parts could break down making that even easier.

In just comparing stats alone, I think most of you can agree Aang is simply too much. I know some upset FMA fans could bring up something like this. "Oh Edward did defeat Father." Oh ok even if this was a great point while it's not. Father was already weakened by his father losing a lot of souls. Shortly afterwards, a lot of characters kept attacking him to weakened him down.

Ultimately he was low on them when he made a fatal mistake of trying to kill Greed that way he was doing. Which led to his entire body becoming the most vulnerable thing there is. Thus making it even easier for Edward to kill him. So I technically can't count defeating Father as a big enough feat here. Especially when Aang has more impressive victories under his belt including some solos.

Even if they allowed him to transmute water like how he killed Sloth in the original anime. Whose a water based creature yeah he only done that once. We seen more usage of alchemy on the earth itself. Colonel Mustang uses it on fire while on a even quicker method. Aang can bending the elements to a degree Edward can not keep up with.

Of course let's see both weren't allowed their abilities. Who would likely win in a hand to hand combat? I got to be honest, Edward doesn't use this skill often while Aang uses it a lot more. I believe Aang would easily win in that regard hands down. The sad truth is even with his small advantages over Aang.

There really isn't much Edward could do to win this fight. Aang trumps him heavily in stats, experience and actually designed with combat in mind. To be fair, Edward isn't a bad opponent for him. A lot better than Harry Potter lol. Edward is going to try his very best to even attempt harming Aang.

Winner: Aang
