Jack Red reviews GoldenEye

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, finally it's time to talk about my absolute favorite Nintendo 64 game. A game I love so much I quickly get loss within seconds of playing it. A game that is so good it might remain as the possibly greatest movie game ever made. I am talking of course about GoldenEye. This game is truly amazing in every regard.

GoldenEye is based on the movie of the same name. Unlike many movie games, this actually came out two years later. By this point we had Tomorrow Never Dies movie. At one point, Rare was asked to make Tomorrow Never Dies game but quickly turned it down. They felt they were in James Bond universe for too long.

Clearly we ended up with Perfect Dark not too much longer on the same console no less. Trust me avoid Tomorrow Never Dies on PlayStation 1 at all costs. This game is widely known for it's multiplayer. Keep in mind, a lot of people used computers to play similar modes in many shooters. This is like get them to come to your house with a controller.

Even right now a lot of people are still playing this game even if there's no parties. WOW guys you are hardcore. In fact there's a great mod called GoldenEye: Source. Right now it is only multiplayer but there has been talk to adding a single player campaign. I can say based on my own experience playing it.

This is the remake of GoldenEye to play. I still haven't got to play GoldenEye remake with Daniel Craig. There is also GoldenEye: Rogue Agent that's sorta a spiritual successor. OMG. I rather play Perfect Dark Zero than to play that game ever again I'm not kidding. The fact all of that and more happened due to this game is absolutely mind blowing.

Obviously you play many missions based on the film GoldenEye. There is also two bonus missions that can be a little confusing to talk about. Aztec is mostly based on the film Moonraker. The only henchmen to appear in more than one Bond movie Jaws appears in this mission. The other mission is Egyptian that's taking several things from a couple Bond movies.

You must hunt down Baron Samedi from Live or Let Die film. One of the objectives is finding the golden gun from The Man with the Golden Gun film. You have to defeat this guy three times to finish the mission. The actual objectives was inspired by Super Mario 64. Another amazing N64 game I do recommend to people.

Each difficult adds more objectives. It also gives you a chance to unlock codes by strict conditions. This also unlocks the bonus missions. Personally the fact there exists a code to unlock the developers and unused characters in multiplayer. Although for unexplained reasons kept Oddjob & Mayday available despite their appearance got removed during development.

Here is another cool fact that connects to Perfect Dark. There is four particular similar characters that's referring four of the Bond actors. They originally wanted to do this while having the choice which Bond actor to play during the campaign. Neither game kept that but it is still cool parts of that concept exists in Perfect Dark's multiplayer.

Hell GoldenEye also inspired Timesplitters series. This game blew away a lot of amazing shooters at the time of it's release. Sure the original N64 game never got ported off the console. It is even more interesting this was almost an entirely different game on Virtual Boy. It was going to be more of a driving game.

A concept that eventually happened in 007 Racing. Believe it or not, the same friend to introduced me to Tomorrow Never Dies also had this game. GoldenEye is a game that might not be aging well. At the same time it was truly ahead of it's time. In fact stuff like Halo owes itself to GoldenEye. This game inspired so many people that I doubt the listing will stop anytime soon.

I love a great shooter that has a lot of weapons. Especially with great codes and plenty modes to play. GoldenEye no matter how you play it is such a fun experience. There is people crazy enough to attempt beating every mission on 007 difficulty with all options maxed. Which makes the game virtually impossible to complete.

GoldenEye also has some interesting unused stuff found on Gameshark. This game is legendary even right now. The legacy alone really made way for the future of shooters in general. You could even say most newer online multiplayer ones owes itself to GoldenEye too. This is easily the greatest stand alone Rare game I ever played.
