Death Battle Fight Prediction Clayface (DC) vs. Sandman (Marvel)

Special thanks to The Rappter and jedah dohma

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, for awhile I even wondered if Clayface vs. Sandman could actually happen on Death Battle. More on why I thought that later on. I do need to point out a lot of people shared the atlas having similar powers for Clayface. Obviously in my blog as well as their show we will be using Basil Karlo for many reasons.

Clayface

Basil was a talented actor but when news came about remaking one of his movies. Karlo went insane to hunt down some of the people involved with the movie. He did most of this under a disguise of another character he played in one of his movies. Thankfully the dynamic duo stopped him from killing the star of that movie.

Eventually down the road he became like other Clayface characters. At one point he formed the mud pack with three others sharing the name. Clayface is one of the most difficult villains the dark knight has ever encountered. Imagine a giant walking mud creature capable of nightmarish things. Clayface has a long history of directly attacking those pissing him off.

Sandman

William Baker aka Flint Marko was a caring father that couldn't keep paying for treatments for his daughter. He chose to become a criminal to help save her. In doing so quickly had a run in with Spider-Man. At some point an accident occurred transforming him into living sand. Sandman has been in many super villain teams.

Not a lot of know he also has did some good with his powers. Marko is not actually a violent guy just determine to save his daughter. This guy is probably the most innocent among all of Spider-Man's enemies. Sanndman doesn't like getting into conflicts. Technically speaking he could live forever due to his accident.

+Limitless Endurance
+Capable of creating clones

Weaknesses
Clayface

I should point out over the years his weaknesses are very inconsistent. For example sometimes his body quickly breaks down while making contact with water. In other stories not so much same goes for electricity. Also extreme cold can turn him into a statue state. Over time his body will eventually dry up.

Sandman

Unlike Clayface, Sandman's weaknesses are very consistent. In water, he breaks apart while one piece maintains his mind. Spider-Man figures this weakness out to trap him. He was able to determine which piece Sandman's mind was in. Despite his abilities, he isn't willing to fight unless he's force to.

Clayface

Advantages
+More overall experience
+More versatility
+Generating more of his mass
+Could gain some of Sandman's power or absorb him altogether
+Faster
+More willing to fight
+More likely to fight dirty
+Very good at tricking people while disguised as someone else
+More stable while in the water
+Less predictable

Disadvantages
-More arrogant out of the two
-Overtime his body will dry out
-Weaker towards cold temperatures

Sandman

Advantages
+The piece of sand with his mind can eventually rebuild a new body
+Stronger through absorbing larger amounts of sand
+Tougher through absorbing larger amounts of sand

Disadvantages
-Not as close as experience as Basil
-Can't prevent from being absorbed
-More likely to water a part in the water
-Depending on the amount of sand in the area can greatly increase his stats
-His own body doesn't generate more sand
-Less willing to fight
-Weaker towards heat temperatures
-Despite being a criminal, he's a decent person
-Very likely to get caught off guard to Clayface's disguise trick
-More predictable

Verdict

This is the single easiest verdict I ever written. Similar to Gaara vs. Toph, this is a battle between two beings made of different minerals of Earth. In this case Sandman is small pieces that could turn one of two forms of rock. But enough heat applied to it turns sand into glass. In Clayface's case what he's made out of very likely to be mud & clay.

Which is a more stable substance in the water. Both also could use water to mold things. Obviously doing some of those will take awhile to get down. Anyone can build a sand castle especially kids. There is another reason I'm brought this up. When sand gets wet it is more likely to fall a part in the water.

Technically during this state it could be considered mud. Thus making it easier for Clayface to copy or absorb Sandman. But he is more likely to wait for his chance. Obviously neither can use each other's temperature weaknesses since they are still affected by them. Clayface still can feel extreme heat while Sandman might get slow down by extreme slow.

On the surface this may look like a fight that would never end. In this particular case I had to take a closer look to determine who was more likely to win in a fight. Clayface does have more overall experience. Yes it is true when he first became a criminal he didn't have powers. But he quickly mastered his powers easily making him among the toughest of Batman's enemies.

Basil was a talented actor before a life of crime. One time Commissioner Gordon was kidnapped. Karlo impersonated Gordon for a few weeks even tricking Batman. If he can trick someone like Batman than Sandman is in trouble. Clayface's own body generates more of his mud/clay substance. In the other hand, Sandman's body can't do that.

He would need nearby sand to fix himself sometimes or upping his stats to insane levels by a larger amount. Let's be honest physically attack along with Clayface's poisonous touch is useless here. Sure Sandman can become a giant in minutes like he did in Spider-Man 3 movie. But Clayface's regular default form is already notably bigger than a human.

Despite that he can move a lot faster especially transformed into a giant ball. Basil is more experience dealing with those having similar powers. There was one time Sandman fought a clone doppelganger of his. The fact while fused to three other Clayface characters to secretly copied their powers. Ultimately means if given the opportunity can absorb Sandman essentially killing him or at best unable to fight.

Remember some fights didn't end with death but in a sense had a fate worse than death. Like the most recent being Thanos having an endless death. He still dies but he dies differently every single time with no way to stop it. The point is even if this doesn't kill Sandman, it is likely he can't do anything. Clayface is more unpredictable out of the two.

Winner: Clayface (DC)
