Ranking all games in The Disney Afternoon Collection

Hello everyone I'm Jack Red, I already reviewed this compilation as well as the games included. Yet I didn't give an official ranking for how I stack the games. So why not finally getting around doing just that. I am here to rank all six NES Disney games from worst to best. Now even the worst isn't that bad of an experience honestly.

6. DuckTales 2

DuckTales 2 is a follow up to DuckTales on NES & Game Boy. Your continue on another adventure as Scrooge McDuck to finding more treasures. Honestly, this game felt like it attempted to recreate the original game. It just wasn't as close as good. Yes, it does have a lot of good things going for it in the long run.

5. TaleSpin

Usually TaleSpin gets called the worst among their many NES Capcom Disney games. Honestly, I don't think it's that bad. I could actually argue it attempted more than DuckTales 2. Yes, the mechanics can be confusing for people I do get that. I do like how they went about the boss fights. The levels aren't long yet they have an appeal that usually isn't found in that style games.

4. Chip & Dale 2

Chip & Dale 2 is not as good as the original game but unlike DuckTales 2 does come a lot closer in comparison. Yes, some boss fights do drag out longer than necessary. Yet I felt the overall level designs are solid. This also has a great soundtrack with not many changes from the previous game. This also would be one of the easiest games included in this compilation.

3. Chip & Dale

Now we're at the very best of their NES Disney games. If you are a collector, you probably already know about Chip & Dale like a million times over. It is a very solid coop game that's very addicting to replay. This game is a must have for anyone whose into Disney or NES games in general. Honestly, this is a game that won't over stay it's welcome.

2. DuckTales

I got to be honest, DuckTales was a truly solid platformer. Some of the actual songs like the famous Moon stage theme were timeless. Almost everything works in this particular game. Yes, a few key points you will need to use your head a little bit. Mostly an easy game with some tricky platforming. The bosses are easy to memorize with all of them being very different from each other.

1. Darkwing Duck

Hell yes without question for me, the absolute best game in this compilation has to be Darkwing Duck. Well, this does sorta come off as another NES Mega Man in a few ways. This was a solid run & gun platformer experience. You really need to pay attention to everything to get far. Some of these boss fights are surprisingly well designed.

Jack Red reviews Metal Slug Anthology (PS4)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, ever since I found out about Metal Slug Anthology. I wanted it so bad, I am very happy to later find you can play it on PlayStation 4. So recently, I finally chose to go for it since this franchise had a reception among hardcore gamers. The real question is was this game compilation worth the time as well as money to get or not?

I will be directly linking my reviews of the games included to save you time.

Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 3 reviews
https://jackred1989.blogspot.com/2018/11/jack-red-reviews-metal-slug-1-3.html

Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5 and Metal Slug 6
https://jackred1989.blogspot.com/2020/03/jack-red-reviews-metal-slug-4-6.html

Metal Slug Anthology is on a few platforms like Wii and PS2. But I own it through PS4 that's virtually the PS2 version with trophy support. They do reuse the general trophies for each Metal Slug game. The line up of games is Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5 & Metal Slug 6.

1. Beat the first boss
2. Rescue ten prisoners of war (for the most part don't die)
3. Beat the game
4. Beat the game with five continues or less

Among beating the games is unlocking a picture gallery of that entry. Unlocking the final one gives you the special picture gallery. You also get to listen to all their soundtracks through an option. They also included a written interview with the developers. Usually in most game compilation that includes interviews.

It is done with a couple of videos. But here it's a long lengthy written interview that has some great questions answered. I also liked the controls for this section since you can quickly get back to where you were if you took a break from reading it. Yes, there's a save feature just not save state/load state. Most of these were ported from Neo Geo while Metal Slug 6 was ported from the arcade version.

For the most part, the emulation is faithful as well as solid. There's a lot of load screen pictures too. You not only see the level of care, you are deep within it as well. Metal Slug Anthology is honestly one of the finest game compilations I ever played. I loved they allow infinite continues since these are one hit death games.

There's more than enough action with a surprise level of ridiculous you can't believe. There's a lot of variety among everything really. Metal Slug doesn't let you choose which level you want to replay like some newer ports do. I don't think that's much of an issue for the most part since most stages are short.

One of the longest stages included is the final stage of Metal Slug 3. I should mention thanks to this compilation, Metal Slug 6 was brought to the United States. Yes you heard correctly, this game compilation given us a chance to play a game that may never have came here otherwise. Metal Slug 6 does have an Easy & Hard mode that I go more into details about in it's review blog.

Every stage has a boss fight waiting for you. Let's be honest, get use to dying a lot. You will quickly memorize the stages fast. The actual trophies for PS4 emulating the PS2 version are well selected. I know among first seeing them you might think, Geez could they picked a variety of stuff to do for the trophies?

Honestly, I felt these trophies are well selected. Yes some will take time but there are ways of getting them. It is one of the most fun trophy hunts I had in my time playing PS4 games. This is virtually packed with content to keep you entertained for years to come. I would give this an almost perfect score if I was doing a score system.

I can't name anything major enough to complain about. You are getting seven games which two of them are versions of one entry for twenty bucks. Honestly, that's a great deal for seven action packed games. Yes, you can play with other people offline. Overall, this is worth checking out especially you recently became a fan like myself.

Jack Red reviews Metal Slug 4-6

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I recently gotten Metal Slug Anthology on PS4. Yes this is virtually the PS2 version being played off an PS4 console. They made a few changes otherwise it wouldn't be much different from the original version. I figured since I'm giving the game compilation it's own review.

Why not review Metal Slug 4-6 since I haven't play those prior to playing Metal Slug Anthology. I got to be honest, I'm very excited to be doing these reviews. Metal Slug is hands down my favorite SNK franchise, I'm not into their work truthfully. So I am going to do what I do best for those who read my work.

Metal Slug 4 (2002)
Metal Slug 5 (2003)
Metal Slug 6 (2007)

Metal Slug 4-6 is essentially similar to the previous entries. You get a lot of similar stuff with some surprises. Metal Slug 4 had an mad scientist as a final boss. I swear this reminds me of Dr. Robotnik or Dr. Wily in their respective franchises. Metal Slug 5 had a giant flying demon creature as the final boss.

Metal Slug 6 had a Contra style final boss fight. All three of these Metal Slug games are action packed from start to finish. Metal Slug 6 has six playable characters while the other two Metal Slug games had four playable characters. Metal Slug 4 introduced dual machine guns. Oddly also introduced into being transform to a monkey I'm not kidding.

Metal Slug 6 has an easy & hard mode. Easy mode is similar to what you're use to. But it replaces your standard gun with an heavy machine gun as your default weapon. Also, you aren't able to play the final stage. Hard mode does give access to the final stage. Another major difference is after using up an continue.

In Easy mode, you'll get grenades instead of heavy machine gun like in Hard mode or most Metal Slug games. I do need to point out, Metal Slug 6 was originally brought to the United States through Metal Slug Anthology. In fact, that port of Metal Slug 6 is actually the arcade version. Unlike most Metal Slug games included that were directly taken from Neo Geo.

Yes there's new slugs added for more fun. You can expect a ridiculous amount of enemies as well as explosions. Honestly, all three of these are truly amazing games. I was very happy to play each one. I will be honest, I ended up playing five of these Metal Slug games in a row yesterday. I later played both versions of Metal Slug 2.

Metal Slug X is still my favorite Metal Slug game without question. But damn these games are so damn good as well as addicting. You can never truly be disappointed with these games. I also love playing with infinite continues. You should expect to die a lot. At the same time, you can quickly memorize these games.

Metal Slug series as a whole left a major impact on me. I am very glad to given these games a try. I am only missing Metal Slug 7 and it's updated version Metal Slug XX. Honestly, all three of these are a must play. I would say 6 could be the easiest on it's Easy mode. But it's still not that easy either. You still will die a lot during a run.

Jack Red reviews Mega Man X series

Warning, this will be a very lengthy review of each Mega Man X game. I was still planning these during my review of both Mega Man X Legacy Collection games. Please take as many breaks you'll need.

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, recently I talked about the newest Mega Man X game compilations. Now I get to talk more in depth with every entry. To clarify, there's a lot of ground to cover. Maybe not as much as classic Mega Man series. But trust me, these games will test you in many ways. Honestly, it's about time we get right to it.

1. Mega Man X (1994)

The original Mega Man X was the first Mega Man game on SNES. This was also a beginning to a tread not many game franchises has done. Mega Man X series as a whole was a follow up to Mega Man classic series taking place an century later. Why does that sound familiar lol. Mega Man X follows Mega Man X or simply X an Maverick hunter protecting the world from rampaging machines.

The world knows of them as the Mavericks. Led by a former Maverick hunter, Sigma. X must continue the legacy of the original Mega Man. Essentially, this is Mega Man next generation since everything has been notably upgraded no pun intended. Just like classic Mega Man games, The Mavericks act like the Robot Masters to a degree.

You can select one of eight stages until the final stages appears. Like late NES Mega Man games, you do have additional stuff to get. I am not going to sugar coat the truth. If you were struggling with the classic Mega Man games, you won't get far here. Sigma is a widely different game from Dr. Wily. Most of his boss fights are more difficult than the toughest Dr. Wily has to offer I'm not kidding.

Sigma has some truly difficult boss fights in this particular franchise. If you do collect armor upgrades, you will get making some tricky to pull off moves much easier. There's two ways getting the strongest attack in the game. Either you take a chance at getting it at a tricky to land spot or Zero automatically gives you the attack during the first of the final stages.

The save feature from Mega Man X Legacy Collection functions like a password system. Keep in mind, although most stuff you gotten is included within these passwords. You might not have the ultimate attack. Also, if you turn the game off or reset it during another stage of the final stages. You have to start those final stages from the beggining.

Now why was that difficult to get right? Isn't it enough punishment to deal with eight levels prior to these? Also like the original Mega Man game, during these final stages. Some of the Mavericks will have a rematch with you. Sadly, this is the only Mega Man X game included in both game compilations to not allow you choose an order.

Basically, you have to fight them all again between stages. Unless, you are familiar enough with them, you may never know when one of those boss fights might show up. The soundtrack is amazing, it easily blows Mega Man 7 on the same console away. I should mention, there's three final bosses in the final stage with two of them being Sigma himself.

I loved you get more reasons to test your skills in not only finding stuff. You also could experiment with methods using powers from the Mavericks or your upgrades from the late Dr. Light. Honestly, this is a great way to kick off a new Mega Man franchise. I would say this was easily one of the finest 16-bit Mega games I ever played.

I do need to mention, unlike the previous Mega Man Legacy Collection games. You don't get a save state/load state feature. You know the same feature supposedly ruining games right Mike Matei lol. Anyway, I kinda liked they didn't bring it back for these games. Honestly, it would've made these games much easier thus ruining the uniqueness they bring to the table.

Rookie Hunter mode doesn't make this game much easier in comparison to most later entries. You will likely die a lot. You need to adapt quickly to survive this game. I do like how it does play tribute to the classic Mega Man series in it's own way. I am very happy to play this game. Mega Man X is hands down, a must play game for any Mega Man fan or those trying to get into them in general.

2. Mega Man X2 (1995)

I will be honest, out of the three SNES entries. I ended up liking Mega Man X2 the most. I felt the line up of the Mavericks was perfect. This had some great Sigma boss fights that will surprise you. Like most classic & X series, you can choose the order you face each Maverick in their rematches. Most of what I said about X1 heavily applies here as well.

Mega Man X2 also had some of my favorite stages of the series. Not only that, it also has one of the absolute best Mega Man soundtracks ever. This game to me was near perfect for what it truly is. I do need to mention X1's ultimate attack was Hadouken. Yes as in Ryu & Ken's energy blast move. Speaking of them, this game's ultimate attack so happens to be another move of theirs.

Shoryuken which is a flying uppercut move from Street Fighter series. This move can one hit a particular boss. Honestly, in a few ways X1 fell, this game really brought it. This has to be one of the greatest video game sequels I ever played. I really can't say highly enough of this game, it really is a great experience.

I do need to point out, some of my favorite Mavericks are in this game. Like Wheel Gator & Overdrive Ostrich, anyway most their boss fights is a lot of fun. I felt the difficulty is more evenly balanced out here. I am not saying the original X game was too hard because it wasn't. I do enjoy a great challenge when I see one.

3. Mega Man X3 (1996)

Not only you can locate armor upgrades. You also can get an hidden armor if you follow the directions correctly. Not only that, you can get chips that also increases some of your abilities. You also get chips to summon powdered armors. Some of these machines are required to locating some hidden stuff.

Once again, what I said about X1 and X2 heavily applies here. There is a twist following the final boss fight this time. Usually the games end after defeating Sigma. But not this time, you have to quickly jump up the walls then move to the right. You are doing this while lava is quickly moving up towards the top of the screen.

Even with the ultimate armor, you can die quickly if you stay in there for too long. This is also the first X game to let you play as Zero. Just don't expect it to be like some of the later games with him. Mega Man X3 does have a great soundtrack. I do like how they went about the final stages. You can feel the level of care these developers put in.

Honestly, I would say I actually prefer majority of this game over the original X game. I will still say that game had a better soundtrack. You also face Dr. Doppler who created two robots as well as modified an old enemy of yours. You could be facing a few optional bosses during your run of this game.

I will say these bosses are more difficult than the actual Mavericks but not as difficult as Sigma. The actual ending is one of my favorites too. Capcom ended X series on SNES on a high note. Overall, it is a decent game. It will challenge you a few more ways than the previous entries. I do like how they went the extra mile about finding stuff.

4. Mega Man X4 (1997)

Without question, this is my favorite X game in Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1. WOW, this is a beautifully made game guys. You can choose to be either X or Zero this time around. I do need to point out, with a code you can play as Black Zero. It literately is Zero recolored in black with his hair being turned white.

This version of Zero is more durable as well as powerful. You can not change characters during a playthrough. Trust me, it's a vastly different experience than both Mega Man 9 & 10 with playable characters. X is more of a firing type of character while Zero being more of a swordsman. This greatly affects majority of the boss fights too.

OMG, Sigma really steps up his game during the final boss fight. The first phrase, he appears similar to that of an Grim Reaper. You need to test every option in game or look up online how to damage him. Seriously, if you don't know how to do that. You already loss this boss fight I'm not kidding. Once you do figure it out, he does down quick.

His second phrase is he more directly uses his scythe. This ends up being trickier to hit but easier to take down. Usually this is where these games end. But Sigma answers right back with a third phrase. This is one of the most difficult Capcom final bosses I ever done. This is virtually two bosses that take their turns at attacking you.

In between all of that are three different colored giant robot heads. You don't need to destroy those until you got no choice. Yes, in this particular X game Sigma has four health bars? Yes there are times, you face Dr. Wily for a third round. But most of those occur in the final stage following his previous boss fights.

Here, you get absolutely no breaks. You really need to go in stock up on everything. It is highly important you bring your A game or you won't survive this. I am not kidding, this game is mostly fair in it's overall difficulty. Sure, I love a challenging final boss. Maybe they went a little too far here. I will say, this game has some truly great stages.

5. Mega Man X5 (2001)

This was the last entry to fully involve the creator of Mega Man. Who later went on to creating Dead Rising series. X5 was meant to be Zero's end of the story. Spoiler alert, it wasn't long story. I would say this is the best X game in Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2. I know a lot of people criticize the time limit.

First off, it isn't an active moving clock like in most games. Second, you could quickly fail both firing the laser & sending the space shuffle. In order, to unlocking the final stages thus removing the timer altogether. Unlike the previous games, you can go for two different armors. Falcon Armor enables flight for a short distance while Gaea Armor allows X to walk on spikes.

Personally, I loved how they went about this concept. All Falcon Armor pieces are in the left Maverick stages while all Gaea Armor pieces are in the right Maverick stages. You do start this game off as X in his previous game's ultimate armor. Thus, you could play with all three of them with one being only meant for the intro stage.

Speaking of that, Sigma is actually fought twice in this game. You still got three phrases with him while the later two are essentially the final boss fight. This has the easiest Sigma boss fight ever. I do liked how they attempted a 3D giant Sigma robot boss during the final boss fight. This also has some of my favorite Mavericks like Crescent Grizzly & Burn Dinorex.

I do need to point something very frustrating out. I tried almost everything for the laser to destroy the falling Space Colony. Which brings to another point, Sonic directly ripped this off in Sonic Adventure 2. Considering that game came out a year later. Maybe this could've been a coincidence who really knows.

This trophy/achievement took me hours to pull off. Finally, I tried a trick someone done in an YouTube video on the first try & I got it. You have no idea how annoying this actually is until you try going for it. I attempted right off the bat after beating the intro stage. I tried after defeating all eight Mavericks to only fail

This is pure luck if you can pull it off I'm not kidding. I do like how they went about the final stages. One of them took direct inspiration from Quick Man's stage of Mega Man 2. Overall, this had some of my favorite stages. Yes, there are a few tedious things here & there. It does not ruin the experience at all.

6. Mega Man X6 (2001)

Mega Man X6 is easily one of the absolute worst Mega Man games I ever played. The actual story ruined Zero's death turning it into an insult rather than a great ending for a beloved character. Like some of the previous entries, there are multiple endings. Thankfully, it is easier to do this time. Although that's just me trying to be nice about a game that doesn't deserve it.

Each Maverick stage has an Zero Nightmare boss. Not to mention, one of the absolute worst bosses in history. Yes he has a name, his name is High Max. You briefly fight him early on in the game. Later on, you have no choice but to fight him again. I am going to be brutally honest about this guy. Usually when you use a weakness on a boss.

Depending on things, it usually does some damage. There are times, your attacks could be avoided or blocks. This guy is simply floating around with some op attacks. He is too durable to not be the final boss, yes he's actually more difficult than Sigma in a way. Zero has to use a particular slash move to damage him while X needs to somehow stun to finally damage him temporary.

The big problem about that is he's simply too damn durable. Sadly, you will likely have trouble trying to figure out a good enough strategy to win. He doesn't show tanking damage like you would expect making him worse than Sigma. Like X5, you could go to the final stages earlier once Gate shows up. I meant a character named Gate not an actual gate come on now.

Honestly, High Max's boss fight later on is way too unbalanced. Sigma's first phrase is he slowly moves towards you. Yes, he has a few moves but not a difficult boss fight. Until his second phrase that is. Sigma reappears like a giant terminator no pun intended. He constantly fires beams but mostly summons enemies.

This boss fight requires you to push on in order to survive. This isn't much room of error here. Thankfully his head remains as the weak point. Yes, Sigma does take additional damage from particular stuff if you have them or enough of it prior to that boss fight. Some of my least favorite stages are present here.

I will say the soundtrack is still good for what it is. It's a real shame PlayStation 1 era got a horrible end with this franchise. This was the beginning of it's popularity falling. Mega Man X6 is surprisingly liked by some people but mostly disliked by the fan base. Let's be honest, it's not a balanced game that quickly loses it's appeal fast.

7. Mega Man X7 (2003)

We finally hit rock bottom here folks. I recently said this made Mega Man 8 look like an master piece. I'm here to tell you exactly how it does just that. Trust me, you might need something strong to get through a game like this. I wasn't talking about sleep, I was talking about some beer might help. Mega Man X7 is truly an interestingly bad Mega Man game.

This game attempted parts of 2D & 3D aspects but both are done horribly. At least, Mega Man 8 in a few stages nailed the 2D aspect better. Just when you thought the voice acting was bad in Mega Man 8. You haven't heard some of the greatest (sarcasm) voice overs ever. Like Flame Hyena loves saying repeatedly, "Fire on the ground!" or voices in general that doesn't work at all.

Let's be honest, even the good characters were given horrible voices here. Some of the absolute worst Mavericks are present in this game too. You can only play as two characters at a time. Although, you can switch out characters outside the stages. Axl is a new character that doesn't exactly work. It is interesting to note, the creator of Mega Man helped in designing Axl.

There's a horrible glitch in Soldier Stonekong's boss fight. Where sometimes he disappears to not return. Usually this happens, you got no choice but to restart the stage or play another stage. Unless, his stage so happens to be the last one prior to the final stages. I should mention, some of these stages can be short while others are notably longer in comparison.

Let's be honest, Mega Man 8 looked way better on PS1 than this game on PS2. In comparison, Mega Man 8 looked like cutting edge while this piece of crap looked dated. Even at the time of it's release, yeah that's bad. Every Maverick boss fight ends up not being fun at all. Sigma also took a step backwards during his boss fight.

His first phrase is oddly similar to X4's second phrase. His final phrase is a giant robot body out in space. I guess they never made it clear if they needed oxygen or not. This is one of the worst boss fights in the entire game as well as X series. They made getting the ultimate armor much easier than you would expect.

You can save robots to get stuff including the disc icon upgrades. You can choose between the two characters you just finished a level with. Whose gets one or two upgrades. Yes you can use one on each characters if you choose. Just note, among giving them their last chip is essentially maxing them out.

Which further bags the question why even look for armor upgrades in four Maverick stages at all? I still recommend those upgrades over the chips though. This entire game felt heavily unbalanced. Thank god, they didn't make a boss like High Max. Honestly, it felt like a massively waste of time. Sure, it isn't bad for trophy/achievement hunting.

Yet why would you bother playing something this horrible? Mega Man 8 had some variety within it's game play. The actual boss fights were a mixed experience. Some of them were fun to a degree. The final boss fight felt like more a challenge in comparison. It just seems like this particular game failed hard with an okay soundtrack with some bad sound effects.

8. Mega Man X8 (2005)

Currently the recent entry in this franchise. Mega Man X8 ended up being one of my favorites. I wasn't sure what to think about it after trying X7. Honestly, damn this one caught me by surprise. Yes I know some fans aren't a fan of this game. X8 does everything better from the previous game. I can't name many negative things to say about it.

Unlike the previous two entries, I actually liked majority of the Mavericks. Sigma isn't the final boss this time around was a nice surprise. Like X7, you can play as two characters during an stage. There actually is some game play variety this time around. There is a team move you can destroy a lot of enemies or damaging the bosses.

The voice acting isn't that great but it's notably better than some of these games. There's two ways to playing as your navigators during the game play. Either you play mostly with one of them per a run essentially being up to three runs in all or enter a few codes. Following either method, you need 40,000 in game money per a navigator character.

They are essentially alternate skins for the main three characters that's weaker. Honestly, this was one of many surprises it had in store. Hell, I really wanted to say a particular one I didn't see coming at all. There's a code that adds a retro boss fight to Optic Sunflower's stage. Where you face Cutman from Mega Man 1, yes this is a hidden boss fight.

In fact, there's a trophy/achievement for beating Cutman. Honestly, this was a nice tribute to the classic Mega Man series. You still work with chips that will carried over to later playthroughs. Some of the absolute best PS2 era stages are present here. Well that shouldn't be a surprise lol. X8 does make up for X7 just enough to make you excited for what the future might bring.

The actual graphics looks way better than X7. I also liked they given a lot of moves between the three characters. They also added Vile to having a few possible boss fights. He will randomly appear in stages. Sigma gets a sick look for his final boss fight. Unlike most Mega Man X games, Sigma only has one phrase this time.

Lumine wants to continue Sigma's legacy by infecting the world. Essentially they want to bring an order theme chaos that would doom all of existence. Depending on things, you could be facing Lumine's entire boss fight or just his first phrase. I know that's kinda weird but I guess they needed to give you more reason to explore.

I also liked some boss health bars are massive. I really felt at home playing X8 honestly. Sure, this isn't as much as a home run as some previous games. It still is a great underrated entry that truly deserves more respect than it currently gets. Mega Man X8 was the closest we seen to as the ending to that story arc.

Jack Red reviews Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I recently came back to Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 to finish up the series. I really wanted to do this review ever since I first got to play both these compilations. I haven't played many Mega Man series but I can safely say Mega Man X series is already my favorite. Honestly, I am very impressed with these games more so than the classic series.

Unlike the previous Legacy Collection games, both of these came out the same day. Some of it's content is virtually the same. Yes, they are many things related to each game included. They added a loop option for the music player. Trust me, the songs are absolutely amazing. There's eight games with four of them in each compilation.

The first compilation mostly has three SNES games with one PS1 game. The second compilation finishes up with two PS1 games & two PS2 games. I can safely say PS1 games are the finest games. The SNES games do come close as well. Although, two particular entries I can't recommend others to play for different reasons.

X6 ruined the story of the X5 in a way that's doesn't make sense. This actually got the creator of Mega Man upset despite no longer making Mega Man games at that point. Also some of the level designs don't make much sense either. You can play as X but you can unlock Zero late in a run. X7 is a true mixed experience, it makes Mega Man 8 seem like a master piece.

This is when they tried something new. Yet the entire experience feels off. You can play as three characters that doesn't change the direction of the story much. You could save people with a lot of them are in the worst possible spots. You are likely to miss them for one reason or another seriously it's terrible.

Keep in mind, X7 brought the series to PS2. Maybe they should've wait before going into making this game. Capcom does have some great games on PS2 like Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition or Resident Evil 4. This particular entry has a glitch that can prevent you from completing the level I'm not kidding.

Due to how they went about the actual graphics, it's sometimes tricky to judging how to jump to another platform. Otherwise, majority of these games are very good for the most part. Not much to criticize other than some of them being harder. Some earlier entries uses the password system that also acts as your save feature.

In Mega Man Legacy Collection, you can save state the hell out of those games. In Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, you can only do check points from the emulator options. Thankfully from MM8 to MM10 you can save in game. I am happy you can save in all eight Mega Man X games. But I do need to mention for the last stages, if you reset or turn off your game.

Let's say if you stopped on the second of these stages then you did either of those. You will be reset to the beginning of those stages why? Just like the classic series, you got to take out an enemy group. The Mavericks to me are way more interesting in common. I mean come on Capcom how many characters can you name something Man?

What's next Diaper Man, Banana Split Man, Corny Man, Violent Man the list of potential bad names goes on. Also, late in the games you do have the rematches with all eight of them. Instead of Dr. Wily, we have Sigma whose essentially Ultron for Mega Man X franchise. Unlike Dr. Wily, I do respect Sigma, this virus does not give up.

Some of the absolute most difficult final boss fights in Capcom's history are present here. Honestly, I am somewhat disappointed in X Challenge. I do like the concept of taking on two Mavericks at once. But it seems they chose the lazy way out. Majority of fights are the same on both compilations. The only real difference is they changed every third fight on X Legacy Collection 2.

I do like I get a few chances as well as selecting what I want to bring in. But even that is limited depending on the line up. I'm not great at these games truthfully. So don't expect me to talk about the secret final fight that aren't even Mavericks. Also they don't fully use all the Mavericks. Oh okay I could excuse both X7 & X8 since they done their boss fights differently.

There's still no excuse about the first six entries. Not only that, some pairings doesn't make sense to me. A couple of the Mavericks are used often too. Why not give a few Mavericks a try? There isn't even much to go on how this mode fits in either. I do like playing it for the challenge with a few being surprisingly difficult.

They also included Day of Sigma OVA that occurs before the original Mega Man X. I am happy this is included but why did they put the same OVA on both compilations? I could see some getting the later compilation first. It still doesn't make much sense though. Majority of additional content that isn't in the actual games is worth checking out.

A handful of it are hidden, they will give you trophies as well. I also liked the screen options for both compilations. The overall emulation is very solid with notable slowdown in the SNES games. I also liked each game has stuff you can get to better your chances in somewhat. This wasn't as much present in the classic series.

It is mind blowing how more awesome these games can truly be. My favorite entries on both compilations are very straight forward. X4 for X Legacy Collection 1 & X5 for X Legacy Collection 2. To be fair, despite criticisms people give X8. I actually enjoy this game a lot more than I was expecting.

A huge amount from the classic series is greatly improved in every single way. Yeah I still struggle trying to do some aerial moves due to how they went about the default controls. I do know you can change them, I just chose to work with it instead. Like some classic Mega Man games, there are a few optional bosses you could face.

They do put an amazing level of depth in most of these stages. I also liked most bosses has a health bar. For both compilations, they added Rookie Hunter mode that makes the games easier. I will be honest, most of them are mostly a cakewalk with that. The SNES games in particular will still punish you like no tomorrow especially late into them.

I really like after beaten the stages, you can explore them more for stuff you missed. Some of these games has an extra version of X but mostly of Zero like Black Zero. He is recolored in black while being more powerful. I heard the PS2 games got their loading screens shortened for X Legacy Collection 2.

I do see why AVGN 2 game parodied the mechanics of these games lol. I can only hope Capcom does ending up releasing Mega Man X9. Personally late SNES to early PS1 games should be what they need to recreate for X9. You also can change the languages that does affect most of these games in some way.

I'm still new to this franchise, I do recall seeing a video someone made about missing songs. Yeah apparently some songs exclusive to some of their Japanese versions isn't present in either Legacy Collection. Yes, I am aware both of these are officially the second Mega Man X compilation game. Honestly, they still got a few other Mega Man games they could make a collection with.

Portable Mega Man Legacy Collection
1. Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge (Game Boy)
2. Mega Man 2 (Game Boy)
3. Mega Man 3 (Game Boy)
4. Mega Man 4 (Game Boy)
5. Mega Man 5 (Game Boy)
6. Mega Man (Sega Game Gear)

Additional Mega Man Legacy Collection
1. Mega Man: The Power Battle (Arcade)
2. Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters (Arcade)
3. Mega Man: The Wily Wars (Sega Genesis)
4. Mega Man & Bass (GBA)
5. Mega Man Powered Up (PSP)
6. Mega Man Soccer (SNES)

Yes I know most of these are from the classic series. There isn't much left of X series other than Mega Man X: Command Mission and Mega Man Xtreme series. I highly doubt that would get it's own compilation. In a sense as a late tie in, I already know about the release of Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection.

If Capcom just allowed two short Mega Man series in one compilation. Then we probably getting more related to the classic series in the near future. I really don't think there's enough fans to demand Mega Man Legends Legacy Collection that doesn't roll off your tongue. Personally, X series comes with a very strong recommendation.

These games are truly legendary in their own right you just can not fully recreate or surpass. In fact, a lot of indie Metroidvania style games took a lot of aspects from this series. Mega Man X is an absolute must have in your collection. Now the big question I know some Mega Man fans wants to know.

Now I played four of these Legacy Collection games. Which game compilation series I felt held up better in comparison? If we were just judging the actual games then hands down X series wins. But I just felt in additional content section was given a little more care in the classic collections. Yes I know there isn't as close as much X collection games has.

At least, they didn't reuse several things for both collection games. Achievement/trophy wise I have to give it to X collections for more direct trophies that can done in each game. I also liked you could use codes for some truly awesome stuff in both X collection games. Yes, both Mega Man 9 & 10 does have dlcs.

You have two ways of accessing those additional stuff that got added on at later dates. Trust me, that's the only notable code the classic collection games uses. To me, the classic collection games did differ itself from each other more. At the same time, both X collection games made it easier to memorize where everything is.

Overall, I got to say both Mega Man X Legacy Collection games are essentially better. Despite it's issues directly relating to the actual compilation holding each games. It really does make up for it in the long run. Also, maybe this is just me but these games sorta come off like anime games. I still haven't play many anime games.

There is no question X series are more difficult games. Yet you could get access to some truly awesome stuff you simply can not ignore. I am not kidding, I had a very different experience from little to no upgrades from having them all. I also liked being able to play as another character in a couple games.

Up to Mega Man 9, you are mostly stuck as the original Mega Man. I'm a huge Zero fan ever since I got to play these. The actual stories are more to my likening as well. The Mavericks are clearly done better overall in comparison. Sigma is such a great villain, you already know in each final boss fight. You really need to bring it or die trying.

The actual levels are notably bigger with greater level of details in X series. There just not denying which Mega Man series I prefer more. I still do respect the classic series. Even it's finest game, Mega Man 2 isn't as good as some of the finest this series has to offer. I am not kidding, they really are that damn good.

Why I Respect Joe Musashi (Shinobi series)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, For me I always been a huge fan of Shinobi series. I am well aware it's been not great since the Genesis era. Joe Musashi is still one of my absolute favorite Sega characters of all time. I think it's time to give this man some respect. I am also aware majority of gamers prefers Ninja Gaiden over Shinobi, I get it.

Not to insult anyone right off the bat. Just going by the great Shinobi games. Joe does do more stuff you would consider a ninja would do. Like using scrolls that each have different effects. Including one that damages enemies or bosses at the cost of your own life. You get a limited amount of Shurikens.

You have to be cautious sometimes willing to take risks to survive in Shinobi games. It's actually trickier to hit some Shinobi bosses' weaknesses than that of Ninja Gaiden series. Also, Joe doesn't get upgrades to have him out for the most part. Yes, some ports of the original Shinobi did do that. Beyond those no you are all alone.

You even go to land some difficult jumps. Two Shinobi games at the end forces you to figure out how to escape the maze. This requires paying a lot of attention as well as constantly watching out for all kind of threats. Shinobi series always pushed the envelope prior to Shinobi Legions on Sega Saturn. It seems from that game on is where the series fell hard.

Shinobi also had some tricky bosses to avoid including Spider-Man himself. I don't think Ryu ever took on someone like Spider-Man before. These games were legendary as they were challenging. Yes some of them had one hit deaths while others had some complex game designs. I also liked in Shinobi 3, you can wall jump.

Yes I know, some Ninja Gaiden games do that as well but damn it doesn't look that good in comparison. Shinobi is more true to it's very title than Ninja Gaiden. Usually gaiden is a side story of something but Ninja Gaiden is it's own franchise making the usage of that word don't make sense. At least with Shinobi, you already know you're playing as a legendary ninja.

Yes there is a water level that's ripping off the turtles. I kinda felt Joe made that look more awesome than they did. Honestly, there's the right level of challenge especially in later levels. Ninja Gaiden is more meant for the hardcore gamers meaning majority of them should be more turned off by it. Instead, they actually praise it like Ninja Gaiden on NES as the perfect ninja game.

I could make arguments why The Revenge of Shinobi is a better game. Shinobi 3 to me is the perfect ninja game. Honestly, you aren't living if you haven't got to play Shinobi 3. This game will test your gaming skills in ways you can not imagine. To me, it's depressing so many prefers Ninja Gaiden when Shinobi should get more respect.

Forgotten Gaming Mascot #2 Earthworm Jim (Shiny Entertainment)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, today I will talk about a particular gaming mascot that had a short time in the spot light. Now just going by that there's a couple you could possibly name. Don't worry this isn't a guessing game. In more recent years, this character has grown on me a lot. I'm here to talk about Earthworm Jim, groovy.

Earthworm Jim had a short lived game series originally by Shiny Entertainment. The first two games got enough popularity to have it's own cartoon show. Most gaming mascots didn't even get that. This franchise has some truly bizarre sense of humor. Yes it's a worm that's somehow using a suit. This guy has some serious weapons.

More recently, there's a new Earthworm Jim game coming exclusively to a console not a lot of people would own. Not the strangest move by far, no that would be Earthworm Jim 3D. Yeah, this character was given an amazingly horrible 3D experience that actually killed his franchise. It doesn't help that game was a shameless rip off of Banjo-Kazooie games on N64.

Interplay bought Shiny Entertainment then forced the team to work on another game that ended up being MDK. A different team that clearly didn't know Earthworm Jim created a disaster. He was a guest hidden character in two versions of ClayFighter 63 1/3 game. Which also had Boogerman whose from the same company as Earthworm Jim.

Earthworm Jim was a truly out there concept that surprisingly worked. The first two games are amazing platformers that still held up incredibly well. Personally, Earthworm Jim 2 is my favorite. This guy is one of the strangest gaming mascots there ever was. At the same time, he's a mixture of awesomeness with humor kinda like Ash Williams from Evil Dead series.

Hard to believe Dan Castellaneta who voiced many cartoon characters including Homer Simpson. He has voiced Earthworm Jim in the cartoon. Sadly, he also voiced him in Earthworm Jim 3D. This guy voiced so many Simpsons characters, it could take hours to fully breaking them all down. Earthworm Jim is usually a platformer that has run & gun element.

It's a similar type of game to Vectorman series without transformations. The bonus levels are easy to understand but sometimes frustrating to stay on top of. Earthworm Jim has some variety in his games. Let's be honest, the first two games has some weird boss fights. The simple fact he had a few games as well as a cartoon show is already more than most gaming mascots.

Indirectly his guest appearances in ClayFighter series could've also played a part in his long absence. It's difficult to accurately describe the actual humor this franchise has. They took an earth worm that easily could've blown right in their faces. Instead, it became one of the most awesome things in all of gaming.

There isn't a lot of games similar to the first two Earthworm Jim games. Honestly, it's a challenge to find something that could fill that bill. Which makes Earthworm Jim himself something truly unique. Something you can not recreate no matter how hard you try. I knew since last month I was going to do Earthworm Jim for this entry.

This guy was popular enough to make a notable dent in the mascot wars. I don't think he burnt out & died like most of them did. Interplay clearly wanted to stop that franchise however they could. Maybe that's how I personally felt about this. Earthworm Jim does have voice overs that also wasn't common among gaming mascots of his era.

In a weird way trying to describe this is like doing the same for Comix Zone. Despite the fact it's a short beat em that takes place inside a comic book. This is more of slap stick comedy that isn't afraid to try weird jokes. Seriously, a princess actually named Princess What's-Her-Name lol. We even get giant hamsters in a level.

I went a long time not seeing them in video games until Serious Sam Double D XXL I'm not kidding. Earthworm Jim always done weird stuff involving cows. Yeah, Shiny Entertainment sure loved cows moo lol. Honestly, this series was amazing up to when it all fell apart. The actual character is still interesting as well as being amazingly bizarre.

Sadly, he isn't a mascot character anymore. Which is more of a common faith than you would expect. The simple fact is he was the reason Shiny got bought by a company like Interplay in the first place. It's a real shame they screwed them over. I also liked some weird with the actual earth worm he does in these games.

Earthworm Jim is vastly different from most gaming mascots. A huge number of them were choosing some obvious animals while others took a page from Sonic to doing animals people didn't know. The same strategy Crash Bandicoot ended using. No body was even expecting an insect would make this level of impact within the gaming community.
