Showing my respect for Telltale games by Jack Red

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, rumors are currently going around Telltale games possibly closing down. This company continued the legacy of point & click games mostly from LucasArts from the 90s. I first got into them like many people did through their first The Walking Dead game. I wasn't expecting much prior but wow I was very surprised how truly great it is.

Today I want to talk about two of my favorite Telltale purchases on different platforms. I have a long history buying from Xbox consoles & a few websites for PC games. I hope you can see how excited I was to get what I'm about to show you. To clarify in my big purchase I still haven't got to check them all out due to many things came up since then.

1. Telltale was doing deals through Steam on February 2nd of this year

1. Bone Complete Bundle (2 games)

One of their first licensed games based on a comic book series Bone. In both Bone games you play as several characters. Each one will affect somethings later in the story. Although the ending will remain the same. Some jokes might go over people's heads but it does have great voice acting. For an early Tellgame series I could recommend them.

2. Telltale Texas Hold'em

Technically the first Telltale game to not be based on any franchises. The voice acting is easily the best part. The AI can be frustrating at times but you should still be having fun playing it. I would say it holds up just enough for Telltale fans should check it out. This game could get boring but thankfully the dialogue keeps you going.

3. Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack (5 episodes)

They got allowed to make a sequel for Monkey Island series. Back in the 90s those were one of the most popular point & click franchises. To be honest I am not familiar with this series. I knew about it for years I still wanted this simply because Telltale made it. Of course if I like it enough I will buy the other games on GOG.

4. Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People: Season 1 (5 episodes)
Based on an old internet cartoon series. I believe this was one of the very first episodic titles from them. Still one of their strangest games in their library. Most characters from that cartoon series does appear. One of the owners of it did state he likes this game. There was some talk of a sequel but nothing happened.

5. Poker Night at the Inventory

A spiritual successor to Telltale Texas Hold'em. Two guest characters Heavy from Team Fortress series and Tycho from Penny Arcade. Max from Sam & Max series and Strong Bad from his Telltale game are also playing against you. Trust me it pays to keep playing for many reasons. I would say for a poker game it does stand out more than you expect it would.

6. Puzzle Agent

An original point & click game that's not usual for Telltale. Most of the animation is drawn not rendered in 3D like many of their games.

7. The Wolf Among Us (5 episodes)

Based on the comic series of the same name. Many characters are based on several fairy tail characters. Recently Season 2 got canceled due to the lay off. The Wolf Among Us is easily one of their finest games to date.

8. Sam and Max Complete Pack (3 games 16 episodes)

Believe it or not, Telltale's original reason for making games was to try owning Sam & Max: Hit the Road. Sadly they weren't able to although they did get allowed to make three sequel games. This bundle has all three of them. Just one episode of these will make you truly question everything lol. For me this plays on a lot of things I loved growing up from cartoons.

9. Back to the Future The Game (5 episodes)

I am a huge fan of Back to the Future movies. When I found out about this game I was very excited. Yes Michael J. Fox does cameo where you won't expect. Christopher Lloyd does an amazing job voicing several versions of his character. Interesting fact there is another point & click game with Lloyd called Toonstruck.

10. Jurassic Park The Game (4 episodes)

This game took place after the first Jurassic Park movie. Basically this is what Ghostbusters The Video Game was to Ghostbusters 2. Sadly they decided to release all four episodes together rather than separately in majority of their games. I will be honest Jurassic Park on Sega Genesis was much enjoyable.

11. Poker Night 2

Surprise Poker Night got a sequel changing majority of characters you play against. This time you have Brock from The Venture Bros., Ash from Evil, Sam from Sam & Max series and Claptrap from Borderlands series. Max still appears in this game acting more comedic relief than in the previous game.

12. Puzzle Agent 2

I can't say much on this since I don't know much about Puzzle Agent series. All I know for sure is some say this has some strange moments.

2. A few months ago I preordered The Walking Dead The Final Season on Xbox One

1. The Walking Dead Collection for free on Xbox One (4 games 19 episodes)

I already played all of these before on several platforms. I always been a huge fan of these games. I won't say much since I did promise a review on all of them soon.

2. The Walking Dead The Final Season

Without giving too much away a very different overall experience that's mind blowing in it's own right.

Of course there's more Telltale games I want to play in the near future that I don't own. Regardless the fact they got me into a genre that never interested me prior is impressive. I will always remember them for many of their classics.

Jack Red reviews Bleach manga, anime and movies

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, despite how the original manga series Bleach ended. I still enjoy a lot of it with the new live action movie on Netflix. I figured to review it all in one blog. To me Bleach has been a spiritual successor to Yu Yu Hakusho despite different authors wrote both manga series. Bleach still deserves some respect for the stuff it did do right.

1. Bleach manga

Bleach had a solid beginning but a very poor ending arc. The actual ending was the best part of that arc I'm not kidding. Yes there's a lot of great action with some interesting concepts. Such as how it's like to be a soul reaper or how one could become a hollow. There's a lot of characters I like although some of them went down a lot in my book.

The artwork did start very good but overall time it became not constant. I am not saying it was horrible you just can tell it isn't as well detailed. Some story points do get ignored like Aizen did show interest in using Orihime's powers. Sadly he didn't does moments like that might've led to such a disappointing story arc.

I also like how the balance between worlds works. Some characters do become more interesting as the story goes on. Some parts of more recent story arcs felt a little rushed. To me the final story arc was very rushed to the point it really took away anything good that could've been a lot better. Honestly I do enjoy a lot of the character's weapons & abilities.

In vice versa, it's no secret I really don't like quincies. If you seen the final story arc you will understand perfectly why. The concept of the Visored & Arrancars is very interesting. The fact Aizen created both of them since he wanted to become a god. Despite having an zanpakuto that manipulates all five of people's senses.

Overall the first half of the manga is worth coming back to. I would say close to Aizen getting defeated is where you should stop reading. Unless you really have to see how bad it got. Trust me Yhwach is too broken with a stupid way of defeat that doesn't make any real sense.

2. Bleach anime

Although the art style change of the manga did affect the anime version. I would say the anime version is actually better for many reasons. Yes let's not ignore a lot of poor fillers that are simply pointless meant to waste your time beyond anything else. There are some great filler story arcs in this anime.

They did a great job retelling what happened in the manga. There are some notable changes like Aizen in the manga manipulate the other three guardians got cut. I would say they had an amazing sound design for this. Some openings were better than others. I did watch many episodes both English and Japanese for a few years.

Bleach anime does have some weird DVD releases that makes trying to own all of it a pain. Which does affect buying it digitally too. It is almost like they really don't want people to own the series. Bleach had some amazing visual effects. I do like how they went through the story. Yes some filler episodes took place when it wasn't possible due to what was going on in the manga.

The voice acting is good enough with a great usage of colors at times. I can't say all the time for obvious reasons. There are also two OVA specials with one being a retelling of Grand Fisher that was awesome. The other OVA had someone became one with their zanpakuto. No the manga do not cover if this being possible at all.

3. Bleach: Memories of Nobody

The first Bleach movie is also a confusing story to understand. If you already felt that way about Bleach then you probably wouldn't like this movie. Bleach: Memories of Nobody has a being that's actually part of the life stream that wasn't suppose to exist outside of it. A group of people want to attempt creating a new world by crushing the world of the living & the soul society.

Before I go further, yes the manga does cover why their plan wasn't possible. It is because the moment it all fell, everything would be destroyed. Therefore their plan was trying to create a new world from destroying the old one. Which is oddly similar to what Yhwach attempted to do. There is some great action scenes.

Basically the longer this particular character stays out of the balance aka the life stream. The more likely it all will be destroyed. She taken a form similar to a soul reaper. The ending is kinda weird in it's own way. I might recommend it if you are a fellow Bleach fan. Bleach: Memories of Nobody came out when the anime got great.

4. Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion

The second Bleach movie dives into what would happen if two people shared the same zanpakuto. Soul reaper captain Hitsugaya and his friend were forced to kill each other. Sadly Central 46 decided Hitsugaya was worthy to have that zanpakuto to interrupt their fight killing his friend. Somehow through the artifact Hitsugaya and his lieutenant were protecting revived his friend.

This is a crazy movie for even bringing someone back to life. The same guy became a lot bigger wanting a true fight with Hitsugaya. It is the law of all soul reapers that two shared the same zanpakuto. They must fight to the death being a close fight. Yes it's no secret this movie centers heavily around one of the soul reaper captains instead of Ichigo.

I would say this is one of my favorite Bleach movies. You have some crazy stuff that occurs you won't see anywhere else in all of Bleach. Yes Ichigo does appear a lot in this movie just not as much as majority of Bleach movies. I do like the animation which I felt was better than the previous movie. Although it is a real law in Bleach universe, this never happened at all in the canon.

5. Bleach: Fade to Black

Two strange figures befriended Rukia a long time ago. They became sorta a weird hollow creature. They found a way to erase most soul reaper's minds while kidnapping Rukia. Yes her mind also got erased as well. OMG the music in this movie was great. This has some crazy moments like a lot of soul reapers attacking Ichigo.

Ichigo is the only person that remembers Rukia. Near the end those two fused with Rukia becoming Dark Rukia. Oddly if you seen her bankai there are some similarities between the two. There is one soul reaper with dual scythes attached to a long chain. Ichigo had to figure what he can on his own more than usual.

Dark Rukia is one of the few fused Bleach characters in all the canons. I would say this movie plays on many things you love about Bleach. Honestly I am surprised how good this movie was. There also was some brief moments that could've changed the movie. For example when Ichigo was close of facing head captain himself.

6. Bleach: The Hell Verse

The visuals, art design and the sound track is very good. They don't talk much about Hell in Bleach. Thankfully you will see why after watching this movie. Ichigo with his friends had to go to Hell to rescue his sister. In the manga, only once the gates to Hell appeared. Oddly enough that hollow does return as a prisoner of Hell.

Some filler episodes do tie in with this movie. Shortly after Hollow Ichigo defeated Ulquiorra. A group of Hell's prisoners decided to attempt getting Ichigo's attention. Eventually one of his sisters gets taken. However due to his hollow side, Ichigo has a difficult time coming himself in control. The big twist is the suppose leader of the group wasn't the one behind all of it.

No that guy was with Ichigo the entire time. He tricks Ichigo transformating later on to break his chains. By this point hell guardians possessed Ichigo to deliver punishment worse than he already had. This appearance of Ichigo is one of my absolute favorites. The design of Hell itself was mind blowing.

This movie is very good possibly one of my favorite anime movies of all time. Bleach: The Hell Verse also had the author involved. Which may or may not have the author of One Piece involved in some of the movies. Every minute is crazy enough to not being able to look away. I would say please go check this one out as soon as you can.

7. Bleach (live action movie)

Finally we get to the newest Bleach movie. To be honest I didn't think highly of it through some of the trailers. Also because stuff like live action Fullmetal Alchemist wasn't great. WOW I was so wrong about this movie. It is surprisingly a great retelling of the first major story arc from the manga. The audio department rivals Bleach: The Hell Verse I'm not kidding.

Yes Rukia & Orihime may not look like their respective characters. Most characters are portrayed faithfully. I was very surprised how good the hollows looked in the movie. I only seen it in Japanese on Netflix very recently. The fight scenes were very well done. I haven't been this impressed since after watching all three live action Rurouni Kenshin movies.

Maybe one day I'll review that franchise too. Back to Bleach, this nailed what I loved so much about Bleach. I don't think even with the changes to the story I had any real dislike. I got to be honest this was a great movie in every sense of the word. This made happier than I ever had been with the manga & anime versions.

Bleach also building up to a sequel. If it is in the right hands I really want to see it. This movie is clearly similar to a couple comic book movies I watched growing up that still hold up today. I know a lot of people will ignore or over look it. Trust me you really should go in with an open mind. This movie does an amazing job pulling you in shortly after it begins.

Fan War: The Mask vs. Rick Taylor (Splatterhouse)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, there is a reason I chose to left this episode off my previous Fan War blog. I did help researching The Mask back when he was suppose to face Deadpool. However we both couldn't figure out the best way of pulling this fight off without leaving any unanswered questions. Both of them were pretty ridiculous in their own right.

He decided to change his opponent to Rick Taylor. Other people helped him in researching Rick for this fight. To clarify I only count on researching The Mask. I was a fan of the classic Jim Carrey movie. I also remember seeing bits of the cartoon show too. Now I knew of Rick for a long time through hard to follow Genesis code books.

The Mask can only be killed by the user willingly taking off the mask thus losing their powers or through beheading. Believe it or not, his powers protects most of his body from anything. However his neck is the only vulnerable area for a killing slash. Rick has a crazy journey fighting demons, possessed things and evil spirits.

Let's be honest he gave Rick the best possible set up. The Mask is simply way too much for even him to handle. Another way of saying it is every person that wore the mask does become insane. At the same time it brings out how they are in the inside. Which does affect how they can use their powers. Stanley was a fan of classic cartoons so it would make sense his variation of the mask would be a living cartoon character.

This mask was created by Loki a Norse mythology god. In Son of the Mask, another user held his own against it's creator being equal. Considering what he can do means Rick had no real way surviving this. The Mask can break the fourth wall to pulling out those overkill firearms. Basically he can alter parts of reality to a degree.

Rick was a normal human dying to make a deal with a demonic mask creature. There is no question of his toughness but there's a thin line to that. The Mask can tank almost everything you can possibly think of with ease. Let's be direct here Rick did an amazing job holding his own. But The Mask is an unusual kind of super hero that several people shared the atlas.

The Mask could've won even easier if we pulled feats from other users. Rick was simply doomed or should I say damned from the start. The Mask can be as tough, as strong or as fast as he wants to be. The Mask can have any power he can think of. In a weird way he is similar to Marvel's Apocalypse another god like being.

I helped with several Fan War episodes

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, a few years ago I started to help in researching several fights for an web show called Fan War. Although it plays on similar stuff like ScrewAttack's Death Battle. This guy prefers to use sprites within Garry's Mod. Over time he was getting better at pulling it off. I am here to talk about my side to a couple Fan War episodes.

Another way his fights are different is a good number of them aren't fights many people would think of. I was very surprised by Rick vs. The Mask fight honestly. Although I already knew who won even before watching it. I am thankfully to take part in something like this. Especially a handful of episodes meant a lot to me.

Special thanks to 1fishmob

1. Red Hulk vs. Solomon Grundy

Keep in mind, I was still new learning about Red Hulk. At this time I knew much more on Solomon Grundy. Yes I took great notes on both characters while researching them both. Red Hulk has some key differences from the regular Hulk most people knows. For starters, instead of becoming more powerful than he's angry.

His overall body temperature increases. Solomon did die after getting thrown in the sun before. Yes we chose to come up with the best possible Solomon Grundy for this fight to make things interesting. He chose right off the bat to make him stronger than Superman. But Red Hulk had a lot of experience in both combat & coming up with strategies his entire life.

Yes Solomon Grundy can regenerate to a degree and survive most things that would kill you. However Red Hulk could take his time to figure a way to take down or eliminating him. Solomon has been defeated by weaker characters before. Yes both of them held their own against stronger characters.

The problem is Solomon Grundy's stats at randomly altered for everytime he revives. For example Solomon could return for a rematch being smarter but likely much weaker. Red Hulk may not be as impressive as Hulk but he still has many feats to back this up. Although Solomon Grundy going by comic book history does have a longer experience overall.

Let's be honest Hulk in time could beat Solomon Grundy by force. He has beaten characters like The Thing & Juggernaut several times. Red Hulk was chosen to simply make this more fair for Solomon Grundy. To clarify Solomon Grundy is a powerful character in his own right. I really couldn't look past several major problems he has.

2. Chaos (Primal Rage) vs. King Kong

Originally this was going to be Blizzard versus King Kong. I took 1fishmob that it wasn't going to be a great fight. Sure Blizzard is similar to Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero to freeze giant monsters while in one canon King Kong can use electricity. I felt Chaos from the same game would be more entertaining.

Not only he is an evil giant ape but widely known for being disgusting. In fact to this day he has some of the most disgusting finishers I ever seen in any fighting game. Clearly that won't sit well with King Kong. Obviously both of them were worshiped by tribes as gods. Chaos is one of the few ape god characters in his universe.

King Kong usually wins in a fight including Godzilla. True there isn't a lot to go on about Primal Rage characters. There does exist a book sequel that extends little about each character. How often do we get two giant apes fighting against each other? Not very often at all so I was happy to help in researching Chaos.

He pretty much King Kong done before I got involved. I threw out a rough estimated size for Chaos that was almost on the money I'm not kidding. Chaos acts more like what you expect from apes in general. King Kong is more like a protector than anything else. He did inspired Nintendo's Donkey Kong that serves the same purpose.

King Kong has been in many movies over the years even predating Godzilla. I can understand his love of giant monster battles. I do respect King Kong to the point I wasn't upset when Chaos died. To be fair Blizzard would've likely come closer to winning. Honestly there just something about two very different giant apes that will very quickly hate each other.

In canon Chaos didn't like Blizzard although he wasn't the top evil god. Chaos is truly something else in just one fighting game. Yes King Kong has appeared in several video games too. This was a fight I came to really enjoy rewatching. Maybe because I came to like both of them a lot more or the simple fact I helped to make it happen.

3. Ed, Edd & Eddy Battle Royale

I was a kid late in my child hood when I first watched Ed, Edd n Eddy. One of the longest running cartoons on it's channel. Thankfully I was watching a lot of episodes prior to being asked to help. Let's be honest this wasn't as much of a fight. Edd was the smartest but he was most likely to hesitate to doing bad things.

Eddy was the cockiest, smallest and a terrible liar that still tricks people. Both of them didn't have anything against Ed. OMG in one episode Ed lifted an entire house on his own. Now yes this is technically toon force but it was Ed that pulled it off so I have to give it to him. Ed is also physically the strongest & toughest of the three.

Obviously Ed is the dumbest as well but he has proven to be the most unpredictable. Eddy relies on cheap tricks to getting his way. Double D rather try talking through the problem or use some questionable gadgets that are very likely to break. By now you can see where I am going with this Ed was simply too much for both of them.

4. Human Torch vs. Cinder (Killer Instinct)

Keep in mind, Cinder was still new in the newest entry of Killer Instinct. We had to use his classic version for this fight. Oh man it didn't help much against Human Torch. Even in canon, Cinder attempted to defeat Glacius to end up getting killed. Yes this is two polar temperature characters going against each other.

In this fight we are sticking directly to my personal favorite element fire. There isn't a lot to go on with Cinder. There's plenty on Human Torch I believe we used Johnny Storm the second Human Torch for this fight. He has shown to hold his own to a degree. Johnny can create a supernova simply moving around in a closed area or heating up rapidly without breaks.

Of course a supernova we had to look at several things about it for this fight. Obviously it's much more than a giant ball of fire that's worse than the sun. Why because there is the chance Johnny could lose control causing the destruction of all life on the planet or worse blowing up several things in space.

Clearly no one in Killer Instinct universe could withstand a supernova or anything close to one. Human Torch usually flies in his battles while Cinder prefers to stick to the ground. In terms of stats I would say there's close with Human Torch being much faster in the air. Human Torch had a lot more techniques & strategies to rely on in combat than Cinder.

5. Marvel vs. DC

Yes before the pitch forks, death threats & possibly a man made nuke bomb. Let me explain how we went about doing this fight. He selected majority of characters to be present in this fight. I did have a little say regarding a select few but mostly those already in the fight. Marvel vs. DC is possibly one of the biggest rivalries in history.

There's possibility of millions of versus debates centering around their characters against each other. Superman was more than enough for most of them. The deciding factor that eventually gave the win to Marvel was Jean Grey. She is one of the most powerful psychics in comic book history. Now add one of the most powerful cosmic beings in existence possessing her.

Let's just say not even Superman is going to survive that. There is several major versions of Phoenix that are even more god like than the one we used. She can do things you simply couldn't believe. In fact it is possible for Jean to wipe out Superman first in this fight on her own. I should mention both Wolverine & Deadpool has very good regeneration tanking some serious punishment in the past.

This is so far the biggest fight I helped researching as well as give feedback on how I see things playing out. Honestly you thought Superman was broken folks look up the Phoenix especially Jean Grey's version to see what I am talking about. She took on far more powerful beings & won. End of the day DC can take most of the Marvel team but simply couldn't do anything to Jean Grey.

6. Ed vs. Heavy

This was more late research involvement for me. As stated I knew Ed very well but lucky I also knew Heavy. He so happens to be my favorite Team Fortress character. Chances are in either Team Fortress game you might run into me being him gunning some of the enemies down. Let's be honest these two are very similar in their personalities.

Yes Heavy is physically the strongest & toughest of either mercenary army version he's in. The same can be said for Ed making this a rather close fight. Heavy wields a Gatling gun, shotgun and not afraid to punch people in the face. The problem is those punches wouldn't affect Ed much. Ed is more unpredictable out of the two.

As stated before Ed lifted an entire house that's a lot heavier than all of Heavy's standard gear combined. Eventually these two would fight more directly. This is where toon force would make this an easy win for Ed. Even if he didn't have toon force, he could still have some advantages to limit what Heavy could do in the fight.

7. Weiss vs. Glacius

I am aware there's a growing number of people liking both franchises especially RWBY. Honestly I enjoy watching RWBY myself from time to time. I helped him with some information as well as my feedback on who I thought could win this fight. Weiss is a skilled combatant but so is Glacius. Yes we have an ice theme fight.

Glacius has a rather unique body make up that makes him very difficult for Weiss to land any direct blows. Even if she had we haven't seen proof of her breaking blue ice. Therefore she lacks the proper strength to do any fatal blows. Also Glacius can instantly turn into liquid making it more difficult for Weiss to predict.

Also Weiss' weapon could likely run out of cartridges meant to kill the Grimm. Therefore we wouldn't know including lack of info on Glacius how would those affect his body. Yes Weiss is technically faster but Glacius held his own against rather unusual opponents. Basically I could say he is stronger & tougher for that reason.

Glacius even competed in another tournament in the distant past. I don't think Weiss would fair well in the same situation. Another major problem she has is her patience can run out fast. This is exactly how Glacius easily defeated Cinder during the original Killer Instinct game. This is rather a fight between a skilled fighter that can move fast & jump amazing distance.

At the same time forced to be limited in combat against an opponent that can quickly alter his body in many ways. Weiss would need help to stand a chance against Glacius. The sad thing is we know so little what Glacius being truly capable of. Therefore it is likely Weiss might not be able to push Glacius in this fight.

8. Po (Kung Fu Panda) vs. Mulan

The most recent fight I helped in. He already finished researching Po by the time I joined. I tried my best to help him get information he needed on Mulan. I guess he wanted to tie this in to the new live action Mulan movie. Two unlikely fierce warriors that clearly inspired by the Chinese stories. Mulan could've let someone else take on major threats.

She chose to go right in there herself & succeeded. But Po is a gifted material arts possibly a parody of Haru from Beverly Hills Ninja. His master is one of the absolute best there ever was. In the first Kung Fu Panda movie he defeated a former student of his master in combat. This panda has done some truly amazing things you wouldn't believe.

I'm used to seeing the character Panda in Tekken series. This may look like a close fight at first look. Trust me Po is simply too much for her to handle. I believed he tried adding other versions of Mulan to help even this fight out. Sadly it just wasn't enough against this unusual panda. Honestly I am just glad I helped in this since my wife likes both characters.

Sweet Home lives within Resident Evil franchise

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, it is no secret Sweet Home on Famicom became one of the major inspirations for Resident Evil. Some consider the original Alone in the Dark trilogy may also been inspiration in many ways. Considering the original Resident Evil came two years after Alone in the Dark 3 I would say that makes sense.

What I am here to talk about is how Resident Evil keeping the spirit of Sweet Home alone today. You would be very surprised how much Resident Evil took from Sweet Home. Also Capcom is supposedly considering to remake Sweet Home. I felt this is a great topic for fellow Resident Evil fans.

The original Resident Evil had a similar location. A couple RE games had different door loading screens while Sweet Home reused the same one regardless of which door. Some of the conditions for endings depending saving a fellow S.T.A.R.S. member or leaving them behind. In Sweet Home, depending on how many of your playable characters survives the final boss fight determines that.

Some enemies like zombies, undead dogs and worms inspired a lot of Resident Evil monsters. Some puzzles in Sweet Home inspired the early RE puzzles. Resident Evil: Revelations 2 has different equipment & what they can do similar to Sweet Home. Both RE0 & Revelations 2 allows you to switch between characters during the game play just like Sweet Home.

Surprisingly Resident Evil VII probably took some inspiration from this game too. Such as dealing with death traps or very limited inventory slots. A group of  a film crew was involved in REVII & Sweet Home. Outbreak series came the close of having four playable characters on screen at the same time. In Sweet Home you have up to five playable characters.

There is even a chance Sweet Home & Resident Evil series inspired The Evil Within series. Although that was made by a different company, Shinji Mikami the creator of Resident Evil made those games. Back tracking is expected among several RE games. Originally back tracking in Sweet Home was done a little differently.

Due to being able to move two groups or those with one person going by themselves. Most bosses in Sweet Home are doppelgangers of your playable characters respectively. Speaking of them, some RE1 characters had similar traits to those of Sweet Home. For example Rebecca & Akiko are medics of their respective games.

Chris & Kazuo had a lighter in their inventory that can be used in puzzles. Jill & Emi can easily unlock stuff. One strange connection since Dead Rising does reference Resident Evil a lot. Frank & Taro wears around a camera. The death animation originally occurs in Sweet Home while RE series has several different death animations.

You can look around files or some pictures to learn more of the story. Early on Resident Evil has done this. Resident Evil VII is the most recent to carry that torch. The final boss goes through several forms. A reoccurring theme in Resident Evil series. Sweet Home had quick events that some RE games like RE4, RE5. and both Chronicles series does that.

In earlier RE games has a lot of keys you need in order to get further in the game. There is some items that does the same purpose late in the game. Keys is a must in Sweet Home if something happens to Emi. Honestly I can keep going but I think by now you do see my point. Resident Evil series is essentially the spiritual successor to Sweet Home.

One interesting fact is although Sweet Home was one of the early horror games that so happened to have RPG elements. There are similar games that didn't get as popular despite being common in the United States. Until 2007 with BioShock, there wasn't a lot of examples of those kind of games. I believe Dead Rising series does the RPG elements the best although Fallout series is truly amazing stuff.

The Angry Video Game Nerd review

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, a few years ago I reviewed both AVGN games and movies. I always been a huge fan of this show. I remembered ScrewAttack & Gametrailers helped the show reach popularity. James Rolfe was considered one of the first YouTube stars. He has made other shows like Cinemassacre Mailbag, Board James, You Know What's Bullshit, Cinemassacre Rental Reviews and OverAnalyzers.

Very early on, the show was called Angry Nintendo Nerd that had two short episodes becoming more commonly known as the pilot episodes. Around 2006, after several of his friends convinced him to make more videos. He reviews The Karate Kid on NES it was during a short period ScrewAttack a new website at the time got in contact with him.

After reaching a deal, he quickly changed the show's name to The Angry Video Game Nerd. This was due to fearing a possible lawsuit from Nintendo. It also allows him to cover more game consoles. He quickly build a reputation for reviewing a lot of retro bad games. Sometimes he does review some good games like Super Mario Brothers 3.

It is rare for a comedy show to be this funny for so long. It also out lasted The Big Bang Theory another personal favorite of mine. This show doesn't hold back in any possible way. Most of the jokes will hit home. Yes some of his humor can be a little on the strange side but it still makes you laugh. James worked several video projects including Monster Madness.

I already talked a great deal about Monster Madness in another blog. You got to love it when he destroys bad games in such ways you won't believe. A good number of episodes he does requested games. Sometimes he gets fans to help a little bit even giving Deadly Towers episode's dialogue to them.

Some games like Sonic 06, Ghostbusters on NES, Bram Stoker's Dracula on Sega CD gets reviewed more than once. Usually some shows misses badly in going directly following episodes. But somehow most of them here are very entertaining to rewatch. This guy is honestly one of the funniest I have ever seen.

He was the reason I started making videos and writing blogs in the first place. Sometimes he has his friends mostly Mike in several episodes playing several characters. I really like the animations Mike done for Batman Part 2 and How The Nerd Stole Christmas. Even the holiday episodes are very entertaining.

He has done three entire long episodes on bible games alone. This guy has faced some of the absolute worst video games ever made. Such as Superman 64, Desert Bus, CrazyBus, Big Rigs and Hong Kong 97. Most franchises he made those theme episodes he does justice. You could even say some of them are more entertaining than what they're actually based on.

James put fourteen years into making this into such a great show. Yes there's a notable gap between 2004 & 2006 but don't let get you upset. The Angry Video Game Nerd has the potential being one of the absolute best retro video game review shows ever made. He took major risks in some episodes that's incredibly time consuming.

Yet the pay off was great like Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle being one of my absolute favorite episodes. It is a follow to the previous Bugs Bunny episode. This show isn't afraid to literately get disgusting. I really do mean the very definition. Four horror movie slasher villains has appeared on his show. His legacy will forever live on in us the fans.

So what beyond 2018 there won't be anymore AVGN episodes. I'm really happy with just a handful of them. This guy deserves a lot of respect for all the hard work that goes into each episode. In fact one particular episode he explains his process of making an AVGN episode with one of the longest, weirdest lines I have ever heard.

I highly recommend this show to people especially those with a twisted sense of humor like myself. This show was very inspiring to me for so long. I don't think I would be who I am right now without this show. It really means a great deal to me in the long run. The Angry Video Game Nerd show is one of my absolute favorite shows period.

Halloween series review

This will be a lengthy blog entry please take as many breaks as possible. Yes I am also reviewing both Rob Zombie Halloween movies. I won't be including the newest entry since I rather cover that in it's own blog. Halloween in many ways was huge inspiration for me. I am also throwing in a surprise at the end that most of you won't expect.

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, it was during my child hood one of the slasher names I heard all the time was Michael Myers. One year my brother dressed up as Michael for Halloween. I figured since Halloween is next month I should review most of the Halloween movies. I already done a full detail review on Halloween 6 so I won't be saying much on it.

I should mention video game wise Michael Myers has appeared in Call of Duty: Ghosts & Dead by Daylight. Before those he appeared in a rare Atari 2600 game loosely based on the original Halloween movie. It so happens the people behind it were the publishers of the first two Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies & Atari 2600 game.

Before we even dive right in we really need to go over the big problem I have with Halloween series. The original movie series is surprisingly split up in several time lines. Rob Zombie's Halloween remake series is very straight forward. OMG this topic can be confusing as well as frustrating to talk about.

Also Halloween 3 took place outside all these events. Thus after the sudden change back to Michael Myers became a stand alone movie. But a lot of people ended up criticizing it like no tomorrow. Just like in my big review of Halloween 6, I am going to say I like Halloween 3. Sure it is very different from the rest of the Halloween movies.

At the same time, Halloween 3 sorta needed to stand out in it's own right. There's a lot of unrelated Halloween movies that are just as good or in some ways better than the best Halloween movies. I felt it did a great job showing off the actual holiday. This movie for all sense & purposes really doesn't deserve all the hate it gotten.

Timeline #1: Halloween 1, 2, H20 and Resurrection

Timeline #2: Halloween 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6

Timeline #3: Halloween 1978 & 2018

Some franchises like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are all over the place in canon. It isn't exactly clear why this happened in the first place. This also hurts trying to marathon the canon events but you really aren't sure which movies would those be. Regardless I am a fan of this franchise hard to believe this year it has been forty years.

To help give you an idea how confusing this can get. Special Thanks to James Rolfe for making a great video on the topic.

1. Halloween (1978)

Believe it or not, a good while after it's release Halloween was considered a bad movie. Keep in mine slasher movies wasn't that big even after movies like Psycho. After one review people started liking the movie. Halloween as the title suggest takes place on Halloween stalking a baby sister. There's plenty of holiday theme horror movies today.

Back then there wasn't that many with mostly Christmas horror movies. Halloween could be also seen for jump starting holiday theme horror movies. Michael Myers has always been one of my favorite slasher villains of all time. There isn't a lot of deaths in the movie but it still scared a lot of people.

This was Jamie Lee Curtis' first role as Laurie Strode to sorta mirror her mother's role in Psycho. She plays the baby sister in question that Michael been stalking. They don't reveal much of Michael's past although it works very well. This movie is a solid beginning to a now legendary franchise. I really wish all of them held up amazingly well but nope.

Halloween stands out in many ways from other slasher movies. Michael is rarely seen without his mask. The original actor almost got to play Michael in the upcoming 2018 movie. I should mention besides Child's Play, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser until Revelations, Candyman, Phantasm, Re-Animator & Maniac Cop has one particular actor playing a famous slasher villain.

Like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre & Friday the 13th, they kept changing actors that plays Michael. This movie gives off the actual feeling of being stalked by someone. You never know Michael could be stalking you too jk. Michael's mask is actually an altered William Shatner face mask. There just something scary about a white face.

I'm not talking racism I meant literately white. Halloween has one of my absolute favorite horror movie theme songs. This movie really holds up amazing well in many ways. Dr. Loomis is a great hero character that wants to stop Michael. A long standing rivalry that since then became legendary. Halloween is a must watch especially for slasher fans.

2. Halloween 2 (1981)

I started not liking this movie growing up for many reasons. More recently I came to respect it after all these years. Halloween 2 is sorta in the middle of 2's in horror movies for me. It simply isn't great or terrible by any means. There are some weird stuff about this movie that I will be covering later on. Continuing after the final scene of the previous movie.

Laurie is rushed to the hospital while Michael searches for her. You find out Laurie is one of his sisters. To me it felt like they didn't give themselves enough time to make this movie. It is clearly better than many rushed out movies. I always liked the cover shown above. There is several different covers just like the original Halloween.

There's some brutal kills but I always felt they could've been done better. Even changing one of the later kills would've changed my opinion on this movie. Maybe to me this felt heavily restricted not in terms of violence like some Friday the 13th movies. But they really tried to tell a story that felt loosely connected.

It's difficult to explain exactly why I felt that way. Halloween 2 is for all purposes one of the best Halloween sequels. Honestly I do need to talk about a part of this here since it happened at the end of this movie. Originally that explosion at the end killed Dr. Loomis & Michael. Thus the timeline debate starts getting confusing here.

Halloween 2 isn't as great as the previous movie. It does have a better beginning credits scene. We don't learn that much about Michael that works both ways. It is difficult for me to recommend this unless you really want to watch all the Halloween movies. It is by no means a master piece but it still good enough for a few watches for the most part.

3. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch (1982)

Originally they planned in making each new entry a different story centering around Halloween. After they decided to kill off Michael Myers. Unfortunately this led to a huge upset from fans demanding to bring back Michael. Obviously they gave in very quickly. Halloween 3 is a rather unusual movie.

Dr. Challis gets involve with the mystery Lucky Shamrock company. A lot of weird things occurring all tied to them. Most killers in this movie is actually androids that could act to some ways like humans. Their leader is Cochran has a history with witchcraft. He wants things to go back to the old ways by doing something pretty horrible.

This is technically more of a thriller in some ways. These androids do remind me a little of Michael Myers. End of the day I rather have Michael hands down. Honestly this movie is better than some Halloween movies. I actually like the actual holiday plays more of a role this time around. Halloween 3 does have a different theme that I still like.

Speaking of that theme song, Stephen King in a trailer for Maximum Overdrive reused that song. This movie felt more like a conspiracy kind of movie. I do feel sorry for all those families possibly loss during the ending. Their plan is each mask has a small piece of Stonehenge hidden with a microchip in the company logo.

When a particular broadcast starts most kids wearing the masks dies from severely brain damage. At the same time some creatures like insects & snakes comes from those kids to possibly kill their families. OMG this is so cruel on so many levels. This surprisingly one of the darkest entries of Halloween franchise.

Bonus facts
One interesting fact the voice of the intercom is Jamie Lee Curtis. Not a lot of Halloween fans knows she was involved with this movie. It wasn't until Halloween H20 she becomes involved with the franchise once again. More recently reprising Laurie in the upcoming 2018 Halloween movie. She has a history with Halloween franchise.

4. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)

This is where the second timeline started to go into another direction from other Halloween movies. Halloween 4 takes place ten years after Halloween 2. Honestly this is one of my favorite Halloween movies for many reasons. For this time line it was the true Halloween 3 a lot of people wanted including myself. Jamie Lee Curtis declined to return that led to them killing her character off screen.

Wait they easily could've made a excuse about her being inside a hospital or in jail or over seas. Anything would've worked better than this. All you guys done is piss off Laurie fans. This entry focuses on Michael's niece Jamie Lloyd. A little girl now being stalked by her uncle. Some of my favorite kills are in this movie.

Halloween 4 for the most part felt like a true sequel since a lot of things you expected from the original is present here. Including Dr. Loomis is still trying to stop Michael once again. This movie has plenty of great stuff going for it. Sadly beyond this it quickly goes right down the toilet I'm not kidding.

I felt they did a great job keeping Michael fresh in this movie. The little girl does a great job playing her character. This tells a great story that's sorta gets covered by the massive amount of bad horror movie sequels. Let's be honest the pile is constantly getting bigger. Anyway Halloween 4 has one of the best looking Michael Myers I have ever seen.

Clearly one of the best late 80s horror movies to date. This comes with a high recommendation from yours truly. Halloween 4 jump started what seem like a dying horse. I am still impressive with this movie. It truly stands out even against other Halloween theme horror movies. They gave us a great entry that's worthy of the name Halloween.

5. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)

Unfortunately just like some horror movie sequels. The team quickly rushed into making Halloween 5. I felt this easily could've been a lot better simply by taking their time. Instead we got sorta a poor man's Halloween 4 movie. Jamie for the most part after touching her uncle's hand in the previous movie can't speak.

Every now & then she experiences visions of what Michael sees. Can I be honest I felt this wasn't the franchise for that concept. It really took away from Michael being a serial killer with no real powers. Although he does do some ridiculous stuff to a degree. Yes there were some good kills in this movie but there's not enough reason to come back to it.

Dr. Loomis returns again with some good attempts to Michael this time around. Halloween 5 aka Halloween 4 of this particular timeline felt lackluster in most categories. It was clearly them cashing in on Michael Myers. "Oh we can make mad money simply making a Halloween movie guys." I'm sure it was something like that.

Halloween 5 is one of the weakest entries in the franchise. I could even say Halloween 2 was better in a few ways than this. I always had a dislike towards this movie even right now as a grown adult. This movie doesn't even make Michael fans happy. They attempted to do Halloween 2 angle again & it failed.

This movie doesn't even scream Halloween at all. We do get to see a Halloween party for teens but nothing special. Oh wait that ending always bugged me for years. I will talk more about the actual character in question very soon. Why in god's earth would anyone help Michael Myers is beyond me lol.

It doesn't help this particular scene just like those Jamie scenes felt out of place. This movie can be boring very quickly to a lot of people. Most "good parts" aren't that great either like Michael gets trapped. There was also Michael taking out the same group that almost killed him in the previous movie.

Which was one of my favorite endings to any Halloween movie. The way they continued off of it even felt off to me. Two different people helped Michael that doesn't help in the other movies. Usually he is stalking alone killing people. This is where the popularity started to fall in such a huge way.

6. Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

The end of the second timeline that did curse this movie. There is two different versions of this movie. Neither are worth watching once I'm not kidding they're terrible. Guess what the baby's dad was suppose to be Michael Myers. To make things more awkward the woman that got raped with his niece.

Yes the same niece he killed killing in two movies now. There is also a cult that's secretly helping Myers. Their leader was the mysterious figure that helped Michael escaped from jail. This so happens to be the original actor for Dr. Loomis's final time playing the character prior to his death. I am not going to lie I really don't like this movie at all.

Everything about it isn't great by any means. I don't have a favorite part which for me that's rare for a horror movie. Halloween 6 doesn't usually show 6 in the title but yes it is technically the sixth Halloween movie. Honestly I really can not recommend this movie to anyone. Not even the kills saves the day folks.

7. Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later (1998)

Now back in the original timeline following twenty years after Halloween 2. Let's be honest they knew Halloween 5 & 6 sucked. They had to go back to the basic to attempt fixing the problem. A sequel to Halloween 2 with Jamie Lee Curtis returning as Laurie Strode. For a late 90's horror movie it isn't bad.

I would say finally Michael getting used right after Halloween 4. LL Cool J went on to appear on one of the CSI shows to this day. Not many actors got success following this movie. Laurie is now the headmistress of Hillcrest Academy. Oh okay in the original she was a high school student. Now she is a teacher in a private school I can accept that.

I would say the kills in this movie are hit or miss. I do like some but most of the ones I like happened off screen. This has one of my favorite endings in any horror movie. Laurie knows if she doesn't kill Michael he will eventually come back to attempt finishing the job. She stole an ambulance with a man she thought of her brother.

She grabs an axe then cuts off his head. Spoiler alert it was actually one of the paramedics that Michael crushed his throat & swapped clothes. This happens in the following movie but it does apply here. Jamie Lee Curtis gives off a great performance. One of my favorite actors to play Michael is in this movie.

Halloween H20 aka the original timeline Halloween 3 is mixed receive by people. Some people like it while others hate it. I would say it does stand out among horror movies of it's time. I do need to say Laurie has a son in this movie. Which means Michael is actually there to kill two of his family members.

I would say I can recommend it to some people. End of the day judge the movie how you see fit. Personally I felt it deserves to be one of the best Halloween movies for different reasons. Sure there is parts of this movie that could take a little away from the plot. At the same time we have a gem that does continue the long standing legacy that is Halloween.

8. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

OMG this frickin movie lol wow this is the end of the original timeline. Three years later, Michael succeeds in killing Laurie at a hospital. Obviously this is heavily referencing Halloween 2. A year later, an interactive horror show is going to take place in the Myers house. Of course Michael isn't happy with that.

Last movie had LL Cool J this time we got Busta Rhymes. Why suddenly casting rappers in horror movies I may never know. Let's be honest everyone has the same exact favorite scene. Busta is fighting Michael Myers material arts style. This part may really not fit the movie but in a weird way it did help getting people to watch it.

I always felt they were parodying many things material arts movies, Halloween itself and possibly Jason. If you think about it you might be able to see why I think that. Halloween: Resurrection aka Halloween 4 of this timeline is a weird monster of a movie. I do like the touch of seeing the people on web cams getting killing.

Although I felt Scream 4 did this concept way better. I bet you never thought I would say that lol. This movie isn't necessary a comedy horror movie but some moments not including the fight are sorta funny. Like when Busta dressed up as Michael to suddenly run into the real one classic. There is some great kills in this movie.

Honestly Laurie should've gotten a better kill than the deaths she had in two timelines. After all following Dr. Loomis she was the closest thing of being his nemesis. We don't see much Halloween at all in this movie. I did like the small part where Michael gave a fan of his a surprise. No not killing him, he actually gave him his mask.

This is a mixed bag movie that could be seen it's so bad it's so good thing. I don't know it just come off that way. Halloween: Resurrection almost got a sequel. Yes Michael once again survived after being burned. This marked two times nearly dying from fire in the original timeline. I don't think there's a lot of people willing to watch this.

9. Halloween (2007)

Rob Zombie gets to direct his own take on Halloween. Can I be honest there is parts I do like while others simply felt not necessary. I do like we get to see more of Michael's past but how Zombie showed it sorta ruined the experience. I do like Michael's look later in the movie. I didn't care for this series Dr. Loomis at all.

Brad Dourif aka the voice of Chucky appears as sheriff in these movies. There is some good kills in this movie. The rape scene was very not needed at all. It does make sense Michael has a thing for masks. This isn't a good remake by any means. Halloween does have more sex scenes than most Halloween movies.

I really didn't like Laurie of this timeline either. She comes off to normal for my taste. Rob does have an interesting concept but man how did he screw it up like this? It is better than some Halloween movies. For horror movie remakes it's in the middle of the pack for many reasons. I am not saying this movie being terrible.

I think a better way of saying it is some stuff Zombie added took a little too much away from the series. Dr. Loomis doesn't seem to care if Michael killing people or not. He sorta comes off like a particular Scream character that appears in all four movies. If you know which character I'm referencing you know your horror movies.

Honestly some parts with Michael ends up working surprisingly well. For the most part I felt especially after he killed some of his relatives. I was wasting my time since the story to help expand on his time in the hospital was mostly boring. Sorry but I am positive I'm not the only one saying that.

10. Halloween 2 (2009)

Halloween 2 not to be confused with 1981 classic. The company didn't like how Rob Zombie went over the top in some areas with Halloween remake. Due to them being heavily involved this time, he quickly abandoned what could've the best twist yet in Halloween series. Originally Laurie would've imagine all of this in an hospital in a nightmare.

Instead the hospital isn't present for long in this movie. We get to see Michael for a much longer period without his mask. Even in some scenes with the mask on you can tell he has a big beard hidden. You do have to look at him in some angles to see what I am talking about. This movie ended up being heavily uninspired at best.

There is absolutely nothing good about this movie at all. Hard to believe this almost got a sequel but Zombie declined to return putting the franchise onhold for several years. Halloween 2 reveals more about the curse on Myers. Except the way Zombie went about it really ruined his movies. In Michael's mind he sees his strange mother telling him to do horrible things.

Guess what Michael gets killed off by the police. Thus that curse goes to Laurie becoming the new killer. Although the original concept would've done something similar it would've worked better there. But this is a huge no why would they turn one of the heroes into another killer. Originally in Halloween 666: Producer's Cut after Michael died, Dr. Loomis takes his place making him very upset.

Bottom line you don't do that even for a remake series. Look I get it he is entitled to his vision of Halloween series. But you shouldn't transformed another character into a killer like that. I believe some would simply call it bad business. This movie is easily one of the absolute worst Halloween sequels I have ever seen.

Now it's time to rank all the Halloween movies starting from the worst to the best.
