The Good Doctor (2017-present) review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, as previously mentioned one of my favorite TV shows is The Good Doctor. To clarify, the US version that actually out lasted two over seas versions of the same show. One of the producers was a fan of the concept to make it again in the United States. Clearly, the most popular version that's still inspiring people.

Originally I was going to wait until the show ended. I figured since life can suddenly end without warning. I wanted to review one of my personal favorite shows ever!!!

The Good Doctor (2017-present)
I usually don't watch hospital shows. You might be surprised like some cop shows. Hospital shows stays on television for years. The Good Doctor centers around an young autistic doctor named Dr. Shawn Murphy. Yes we get to see several points of views in the episodes. Some shows like Gotham kinda suffered from that.

The acting is surprisingly convincing to come off as being very real. Not thing I often say about shows or movies in general. You can actual see the raw feelings the characters themselves has. There's plenty of good moments to keep you smiling. Unfortunately, this show has some truly ugly moments. To be honest, a handful of them deeply got me upset.

For example, the hospital at the time was in the process of a new owner. This woman was more about money than what actually mattered. This even included not renewing medicine. Which led to a particular baby's death. To make this even worst than it already is. This lady goes to the baby's mother lies saying this was Dr. Murphy's fault.

However, nothing could've been done to save the baby. Most places that would've had the medicine was too far ahead. The baby was going to die long before the medicine got here. All of that was truly mess up they allowed it to be on the show. Thankfully, she doesn't get to run the hospital at the end of the same season.

Another particular moment, I even stated on social media how offended I was over this one line. To clarify, Lea & Murphy wasn't sure what their relationship was suppose to be. In an argument Lea said this, "Well you can't cure Autism!!!" Personally, I was so heated that tonight from that one moment. More recently, Dr. Murphy kept over stepping himself with his mentor Dr. Glassman.

A man whose more of a father to him than his actual dad. Let's briefly talk about his real dad for a moment. The very first mess up moment in the show, it stayed in my mind for years too. Both Murphy & his brother Steve gotten an pet rabbit. Unfortunately, their dad took the rabbit to throw the creature against a wall.

Can you imagine your parents doing something this cruel? This led to both of them leaving the house. I will give major credit to the actor, Freddie Highmore. Just like Dustin Hoffman in the movie, The Rain Man. Highmore pulled off being an autistic person incredibly well. As someone whose lived with that disorder, I deeply respected his portrayal.

One season ends with possibly losing two staff including Dr. Lim. The show does change the president as well as chief surgeon a few times. Thankfully, both of them survived with help from the staff. They covered a lot of realistic possibilities. Dr. Park was a former police officer, a surprisingly decent surgeon.

Not every patient lives but that's to be expected. It is an hospital drama show after all. This may include other staff members at times. A few episodes exclusively on COVID with one of the most painful scenes to watch. I do mean painful because you quickly watch all these people get their plugs pulled. Each character brings some rather interesting preceptive angle to things.

Obviously at time you can see how fake the surgeons are. But it's also impressive how realistic they act as if they actually were doing those operations. There's so much to like about this show. They also have some critical advice on things. You know when you suddenly ring into an elder person. You are given surprisingly decent advice, this is what that felt like.

Yes, the show heavily centers around one hospital. There are a few exceptions like the time in another country for a few episodes. You also notice so many patients has unresolved issues with their own families. I can say most of those gets resolved in an pleasant matter. Honestly, I'm deeply inspired by this show.

I am even surprised it lasted longer than it currently is. This doesn't even feel like most shows do. This felt more like a great series of movies. You also get to learn more about the human body. It's rare when animals gets brought in though. Not only that, I really felt this show easily could become an timeless classic.

I know some hospital fans may prefer other hospital classics such as ER, Grey's Anatomy or House. I liked we get to see Dr. Murphy's journey. Within the first few episodes, he had help joining the hospital. Currently in Season 7 with Dr. Park, they helped trained people. Dr. Murphy doesn't handle emotions well.

At times, he does ask for advice from other staff members or his wife. The Good Doctor is an fantastic drama show. They covered a lot of possibilities with likely more in later seasons. We get to see the characters go through loss in some way. Yet they find a way to keep on going. Like Dr. Glassman's old home got burnt down or some of them losing an parent in rather not pleasant ways.

The Good Doctor is a show that really got me by surprise. Virtually top notch without question. There isn't even much I could criticize. The biggest criticism is sometimes they attempted to bridge stories. In terms of some patients' back stories with their surgeries or simply being taken care of. Now throw in all the other points of view we see within the same episodes.

Yeah it comes off not as focused at times. I do say some episodes do nail this way better than others. We get to learn so much about everything. It's almost like talking to someone whose very interesting. You know you have things to do. At the same time, this person kept saying stuff that kept getting your attention.

If that isn't what it comes off as then I honestly don't know. The Good Doctor is a very personal for a drama hospital show. You know most of them deeply care about saving their patients. You actually feel terrible when they can't. They even had this strangely kind man who had bumps all over. Sadly, he later died in the same episode.

The point is some people are simply grateful to be alive. Even if their conditions are making their lifes difficult. Honestly, I am even amazed how they pull off such difficult scenes from time to time. Likely my favorite episode simply because it's very unexpected. In this episode, one of the dishes had drugs in that caused some members of the staff to lose control.

Yes even some of the top dogs went through this too. I kid you not, this episode had some truly rememberable moments that still stuck out. It had some of the funniest moments yet. It also showed you how they handled if more than one staff members done drugs, what would happen. It turned out, one of the doctors mistaken drugs for sugar in his sweet potato dish.

They even throw in politics as well as religion. This show may appeal to a lot of people in some way. You don't even need to be a fan to see it's effect on people. It's constantly improving anyone watching it for the better. We are simply better people because of shows like this. I always be grateful for The Good Doctor as long I'm still breathing.
