My thoughts on Worst Reviewed Steam Games

I know a little early, Happy New Years!!!

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I figured to high light a web series I gotten into this year. The one in question started a little over an year ago. Some YouTubers covered similar videos to a degree. What helped this particular one stand out from those. Each entry in his main Worst Reviewed Steam Games videos all had 10 games on the service with terrible to worst reviews.

This video series debut September 3, 2023. The most recent entry came out on December 15, 2024.

Of course, you may wanna expect a few licensed games thrown into the mix. To date he reviewed one hundred twenty games on Steam for this particular video series. Usually a month per an entry with mostly over half an hour in length videos. I actually got a lot of respect for YourFavoriteSon doing this video series.

YourFavoriteSon does have other videos on his channel. I mostly tuned into these videos I'm here to discuss here. Obviously a lot of work went into each entry. It's already difficult to review a handful of games within a video. He's virtually doubling for both handful worth of games. He does explain at the beginning of these videos how I chosen the games he reviews.

With the possible exception of Monopoly, I felt he's a fair reviewer. He often gives some praise to the stuff he likes. Even a few of these games despite their reputation on Steam, he does enjoy to a degree. He does paint a great picture with each game he reviewed for this series. Considering Steam has thousands of games maybe more than most console gaming services for that matter.

It really shouldn't be a surprise Steam had so many bad games. To clarify, Steam does offer some truly fantastic games as well. Sometimes you watch stuff like this because the best gaming stuff. After a long while kinda gets boring. Then you start watching videos like this for a vastly different reason. Purely curious to see how bad some of these games actually are.

It also could be "Wait that's on Steam? Maybe you just wanted something a little different. He doesn't rant these games like The Angry Video Game Nerd or similar internet critics. Well the critics I actually have respect for anyway. He does explain as close to everything he can about each game featured. I been wanting to write this for a while now.

Sure I could've messaged him on X or commented one of his videos how much I appreciate this series. No this is more directly me taking some time to properly show the man respect for his hard work. He does try to cover a variety of game play styles within these videos. Which isn't the point of them in the first place.

Although it does spice them up a bit. He must be a saint with ridiculous amount of patience. Roughly a handful of these games I would've stopped playing or consider refunding altogether. I do think he's taking this video series into the right direction. Indirectly I hope Valve takes notice of this video series.

In order to change guide lines to prevent a notably fracture of not great games getting into their service. There's some unclear stuff about this video series I wish he could answer in the near future. Probably the big one I have is how about not great older games like Earthworm Jim 3D? Sure I do own that on GOG but most agrees the PC version worst than the N64 version.

I'm already commenting Battle of the Eras on DOS to another YouTuber in his The Worst Fighting Game series. Speaking of which come on you gotta do it!!! Back to this, some of these games are surprisingly expensive too. I won't ask how he's able to keep this series going with that issue in mind.

Here's a tip for his personal Steam account. YourFavoriteSon did you know you can make sections within your Steam library? You could make one for every game you covered on your video series in one place. Then again why would you wanna do that? Regardless, it's an interesting video series that kept improving on the way.

I know some people might be wondering. Does he accept requests for games to possibly be in this series? Well yes he does actually, he even states this himself in the video series. Personally I would like to see him review Umbrella Corps. Which is among my most disliked games on Steam I owned. Despite I previously won that with Strider reboot off of Twitch years ago.

It's not often he covers games that requires other services. Going back to Monopoly, he sure wasn't happy about Ubisoft doing that. Is it wrong to say Monopoly on PS1 looked as well as played better than this? The crazy part is there's still plenty of areas he haven't even touched yet. Assuming this video series continues for a long time.

Eventually he'll review a game within every genre of gaming there is. Which by itself could be a fun spin off video he could make. Also he must own a great computer to pull a lot of this off too. I been watching this for months, I apologize I forgot when I started to. I will say YourFavoriteSon please keep up the amazing work you do.
