I figured with a long list of games I played this year. I will simply do one long ranking this year. I could do a few smaller ones to showcase other stuff. Ultimately most that read this either know which game is my choice for Game of the Year. Now I had a lot of fun playing these games. Even the lowest ranked game is still a lot of fun to play in it's own right.
11. Bleach Brave Souls
I originally played a little of the Steam version. But the version that's actually getting represented here is Xbox version. They packed so much content of the franchise into what originally was an Bleach mobile game. I will give them respect they covered this much of the manga in it's story mode. There's plenty of stuff to do while playing the game.
Some might find it boring or repetitive after awhile. Achievements aren't that bad with plenty of variety to choose from. I haven't played many Bleach games to clarify. This is among the best of the ones I had played. This is a massive fan love letter to the fans. Bleach is still among my favorite Shonen Jump stories ever despite things.
Bleach Brave Souls is free to play games. Which means if you want particular stuff you have to buy em with real money. But considering you get this much without doing that is kinda mind blowing!!! You really get a lot of bang for your non existent money here. I simply can't place this higher well you quickly soon see why yourselves.
10. Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends
I previously bought this while it still was on early access. Around mid October the game finally leave early access. Which means it officially came out on Steam. A small spoiler another game on the same list has that going for it. Personally this isn't nearly as great as that one. I already said almost everything I possibly could say about the game within my review of it.
This is good if you want an horror fighting game to play. It's a good alternative from Mortal Kombat 1. Not only that, I do think they will continue to make parts of the game better. It's difficult to say how long before the last major stuff gets in though. What I can say is you still going to have a lot of fun with this. I personally felt it still needed a little more time before it got released.
9. Nightmare Kart
Nightmare Kart is a free Mario Kart racing game on Steam. As soon as I show it a few months ago. I had to give this a try despite knowing little to nothing at that time. I would say for a free Steam game it's amazingly great. You get just enough content to play for a little while. I never expected an Mario Kart style game like this.
Not only that, in most aspects it absolutely delivers. At this point it simply needed a little more everything. Just a little more you could be playing this a lot of hours. I will say it's way better than Team Sonic Racing. This is as close to an racing Bloodborne or Nightmare Creatures you're going to get.
8. Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game
Easily the most expensive game on this list. All the stuff added since my review of the game. This kept getting even crazier overtime. This really felt like I was in the movie when I'm playing this. Playing both sides was a rather unique experience. Customizing your characters is done just right. I do think more of everything going to be added as time goes on.
This game has an interesting sense of humor. You get some amazing maps with the mall map being my favorite. You also get newer Klowntailities for free when they get added to the game. I just wish they would change parts of their ticket system. Previously I could've made getting DLCs for this most of my Christmas presents.
Sadly that's no longer going to be the case. I will say they absolutely nailed this game well. I also loved it's multiplayer focus that really helps the movie shine through more. This was a rather refreshing take on everything. In all honestly, I am curious to see what other surprises they may have in store for us. Especially they're now adding previously scrapped Klown characters to the game, I love that!!!
7. Balatro
I have some experience with card games. Funny enough majority of that experience is from TellTale games. Balatro is absolutely amazing at everything it does. This isn't boring poker, it's the crazier, wackier cousin. You know that cousin you gotta have at your wedding or it won't go well. The fact they added in additional cards that all plays into everything is rather impressive.
There's such a learning curve with only on complete run at this time. You really gotta commit if you want every achievement/trophy in this. The fact how everything could possibly plays out. You just never know what to expect during an run in this. This has to be the most unique card game I had ever played!!!
I also wanna give the developer respect on how every aspect somewhat transformed int one hell of a party. I simply love the insane amount of creativity that went into this. I put a lot of hours in having so much fun. I don't have a solid issue regarding anything. I do wanna see what 2025 will bring to this game.
6. Goat Simulator: Remastered
I bet some of you are surprise this is here. Thanks to Game Pass, I got to play this game. It's a wacky simulator game you play as a goat. But that's just barely scratching the surface what this truly is. You get as close to everything possible with this. Each section actually felt like their own games. They really didn't hold back on the jokes.
The way this is planned out at least one of these sections you may enjoy. They even parodied the MMO RPG experience in a nut shell. We even get a parody zombie game thrown in for good measure. The insane level of creativity with all of this!!! Goat Simulator: Remastered is among the best remasters I played this year.
No it isn't the best remaster of 2024 in my opinion. I will say for an remastered game not done by Nightdive Studios it's great. You literately have something for someone here. A rather fun achievement/trophy list. Plenty of surprises to keep wanting to see it all. The maps are all very interesting at their core.
5. Puppet Master: The Game
Last year I had this among my Games of 2023. Earlier this year it finally left early access. I would say this is one of the best multiplayer games I ever played!!! You really can see the passion for this franchise. Virtually everything about it is done incredibly well. You get just enough variety in everything to keep playing this for hours.
Not to mention, everyone in this discord community rather nice people too. Some impressive cosmetics both free & paid respectively. You can even play the single player mode as most of the characters. Personally you gotta play Puppet Wars at least once in your life. This mode absolute chaos that's a really fun time.
Puppet Master: The Game is among my favorite multiplayer Steam games. Let's hope they could get the game onto consoles. Otherwise, the game is free by default. The additional stuff you gotta pay is well designed. They even nailed character's size differences within the game play well. They really done a fantastic job with this game.
4. Doom + Doom 2
Here's an remastered game that virtually shadow dropped this year. We previously knew Nightdive Studious was working on a few remasters this time. As of recently they released five of them. Which is quite impressive in every sense of the word. Doom + Doom 2 was their third remastered game this year. This really packed in a lot of content.
You are getting virtually everything plus more. If you previously bought either Doom 1 or Doom 2. You already own this remastered version. You even have mod support to play even more levels. We have nearly two hundred levels by default. I previously stated I never seen Doom play this damn good!!! This is a must have in your gaming collections.
You really get so much Doom you really could be playing this for months possibly years. This is among the most replayable remasters I ever played!!! I really can't criticize about it either. You are going to have one hell of a great time. It's absolutely amazing in every possible way. You really can't get tired of this especially the multiplayer with a few modes as well as a lot of maps.
3. Killing Time: Resurrected
This was the best Nightdive remaster of the year. I previously played the PC version of Killing Time. This remastered version truly felt like the definitive edition. They made a lot of great changes. It went from being an alright FPS game into one of my favorite FPS games ever!!! It's truly impressive everything they pulled off with this.
I was hyped from the original trailer right up to it's release. You can only imagine how happy I was when I won an Steam copy of this game. This is absolutely mind blowing with all the additional stuff you're given. They fully brough this game back from the grave in a way the world never possibly could have imagined.
I simply love you can change the enemies out between two versions of the same game. More recently they added in Duncan Mode for those wanting more of an challenge. Despite a small amount of content that's loss. We still have the most complete Killing Time version there ever going to be. In every possible way they nailed it incredibly well.
2. Resident Evil Bundle
No one expected Resident Evil 1-3 classics to come back this year. GOG did a great job with all three of them. I am still mind blown how great all of them plays after all these years. You are virtually getting everything without anything additional. My personal favorite being Resident Evil 2. I bought the bundle as an anniversary present from my amazing wife.
The changes they done to make it work better on computers. Mostly the same games from PlayStation 1 you grew up playing. Some of the finest survival horror games on GOG. Obviously I was going to put this quite high on my list. Resident Evil Bundle is really worth your money. This brought back so many memories while playing em.
The actual game sizes is very nice since they don't take up much space at all. Without question, the best overall PC experience with the franchise I ever had. I am not kidding how great this bundle truly is. A controller works perfectly possibly better than how they previously had on PS1. I highly recommend buying this as soon as possible on GOG.
1. Castlevania Dominus Collection
I know it was a little bold for me to say right in the review blog for this particular game. Game of the Year right off the bat. But in it's defense it really deserved the top spot. Yes more so than Resident Evil Bundle which was a very close second. It really came down to the little things. You simply get more awesomeness with Castlevania Dominus Collection.
It's even better than Castlevania Advance Collection in nearly every possible way. Some truly great Castlevania games you can constantly come back to. All the additional content without anything you need to buy is very nice. Especially considering the main games were pulled from DS. An handheld console by Nintendo done this much justice!!!
In all honestly, it really set the bar for many things high for me. You literately get everything plus more. I really can't even criticize it at all either. They really went the distance to deliver a truly fantastic compilation game. It's so damn good, it made every game on the list work harder in my eyes. This is more of you really gotta play this!!!
