Whose my favorite Tekken character to play as?

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, today I figured to reveal my favorite Tekken character to play as. I also will quickly list a few others from other fighting games as well. Mostly I wanna focus on Tekken in particular because Tekken 8 coming out soon. Tekken has a lot of characters even for a fighting game franchise, choosing an overall favorite to play as is very difficult.

Mortal Kombat series
Scorpion

Street Fighter series
M. Bison

Killer Instinct series
Fulgore

Soulcalibur series
Nightmare

The one Tekken character I really enjoyed playing as above everyone else is Mokujin. I know some Tekken players might be disappointed. Mokujin is a comical character in his story portions. Outside that, Mokujin randomly changes out fighting styles. It's rare when you get the same fighting style you just used in a match.

This also comes with a bigger challenge than playing as the other characters. Instead of having to master one character, you virtually have to master them all to be great as Mokujin. Plus you quickly need to adapt during matches makes this a great challenge. There's some limitations to how much the character mimics from everyone else.

Let's be honest, you don't really notice at all. In later Tekken games excluding Tekken 7, Mokujin can be customized. You have a training dummy beating up professional fighters for crying out loud lol. Mokujin has some interesting cameos as well. Like his strange usage with Pac-Man in PS versions of Street Fighter x Tekken.

Mokujin is a master level character. The learning curve for some will be a long, difficult one. Veterans should quickly master this unique character. Mokujin is a character that gives new meaning to mimic fighting game characters. Most likely, the most well known mimic fighting game character is Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat series.

Sadly, this character seems to be underrated or not getting notice within the Tekken community. Which is a shame because Mokujin ends up being the most unique character in any Tekken game he appears in. They even included a female Mokujin model. How often does one character offer either gender models especially in fighting games?

Mokujin always meant a lot to me over the years. I'm still disappointed the character never made it to Tekken 7. I still considered Tekken 7 the best fighting game ever made!!! Also the character has strangely interesting sounds only they make. Which quickly helps in standing out from the rest of them. Also some rememberable endings as well.

One particular ending, two Mokujins are dating inside the Bandai Namco building. Done in a similar style to a very particular Fullmetal Alchemist OVA with Alphonse Elric. In most cases, a powerful forces shows up. Mokujin comes to life until that force gets defeated eventually becoming lifeless again.

Which is strangely similar to Sir Daniel Fortesque from MediEvil series. Mokujin does predate that character roughly a year in Japan, I checked. The best part is the character isn't even out of place within his own franchise either. We have a few machines as well as animals fighting too. But in terms of what the character actually is not many fighting games share this concept.

One other fighting game I can name that has a similar character was Mace: The Dark Age. Another fighting game from my child hood. Mokujin is virtually playing as nearly everyone without having to exit to the character selection screen. This also makes Mokujin the trickiest Tekken character to program as well.

I know for some that's difficult to believe. This simple looking character has the most potential moves in the entire series. Of course, there's a few similar characters over the years. Like the original Unknown, Combat in Tekken 4 and Tetsujin. Tetsujin is the metal counterpart to Mokujin. Mokujin is obviously made out of wood so it kinda made sense to do a metal take on the concept.

I would say Combat in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 would be my favorite version of that character. Simply because you can select their moves out in another mode. Actually done better than Shujinko in Mortal Kombat: Deception yes shots fired!!! To me, it all begun with Mokujin. The character will always be my go to mimic fighting game character.

No one else will ever present the level of mastering challenge that Mokujin presents. Tekken games are known for having a huge roster of characters. Which is quite impressive they can program such complexity into a character. I hope these reasons helps people understand why Mokujin always been my favorite Tekken character to play as.
