My thoughts on the new update for Postal 4

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, not too long ago I played then reviewed Postal 4. Which had a lot of problems at the time. Running with Scissors promised the new update would fix most of these problems. The real question is does this update fix the game enough to make it somewhat decent or further ruin the experience?

I am happy to say it doesn't ruin the experience. Postal 4 now feels more like a true sequel to Postal 2. Already a huge improvement than the state I previously played of it. They notably placed more stuff around the map. Which was one of my major complaints in the actual review. A few sections just needs a little more of that then we're good.

There's still some technical issues but the game quickly balance back from it most of the time. Sometimes I had to reload a previous state mostly autosaves. Which also means I fully got to play the entire game as it was meant to be. They did fix a bigger problem I had on Friday. In particular, they made the final boss easier.

Also it no longer seems to have the glitch. Where each death another Dude's dad spawns. Which easily made the game unplayable for a final boss fight. I also liked how they labeled each section of Cheats. The descriptions can be a little confusing though. I did notice another notable issue while I was playing. Sometimes they send a little too many enemies after you at several points.

Let's look at Postal 2, it felt more balanced despite what was going on. Here sometimes you have to quickly find cover even low on ammo. Then do what you can to survive. Either reduce the amount of enemies or give us a little more of a fighting chance. Stocking up on stuff is notably better. Sometimes it helps killing most of them to get enough ammo to continue on.

The tasks are virtually the same in general design. I do actually like seeing how rapidly the game loads up the map. There's no question Running with Scissors is going into the right direction. We also have an extra item meant for outfits, I love the idea. Maybe they add some more outfits into the game in the near future would be nice.

I also liked Rick Hunter sounds more like how he did in other Postal games. I may criticize that a little bit in my review of the game. I would say him & Zack Ward are my two favorites among the four people voicing the character. I love they added in a particular weapon from Postal: Brain Damaged as well. Yes it got renamed as Dilbow, it was a great weapon in that Postal game.

You also can arrest people despite not actually being a police officer. Probably one of my favorite things added is vehicles now has a working radio. No longer the Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell treatment. This alone helped a lot into wanna keep playing the game. I do got to mention, people might be a little too accurate with firearms especially during the apocalypse on Friday.

It was so annoying to kept getting gunned down even trying to get to the next area to end up dead on the spot. Sure Postal 2 which had three apocalypses altogether counting Paradise Lost had a similar problem. At the same time, I felt those were more forgiving because they weren't constantly hitting you regardless of distance.

I would like if something was done to make it a little more fair. Keep in mind, you face a lot of bosses on Friday too. So during Friday you may have to use up a lot of your resources in hopes at beating the games. Virtually every task on Friday, there's so many enemies. Not counting people outside each location attacking each other.

There's no question Friday is the hardest day. Well in a sense it should be because it's the last level. I just felt please do something to give us more of a fighting chance guys. Postal 4 is miles better than Postal III. It currently has a shot being better than Postal Redux, which is saying something. In it's current state if the update would've came out last year.

Postal 4 would've gotten a little higher on my Games of 2022 list truthfully. Sadly, it came out early 2023 instead. I will say I mostly had a decent time playing it on Normal without codes. I wish some tasks like Dam Inspector wasn't so repetitive in nature. I'm sure some people was able to fully do it within the time limit, I didn't though.

I also notice some parts of locations like a few walls inside the Casino. My bullets were getting blocked despite being fired at a angle that should've hit the enemies. I had to risk getting closer to them at a point. In turn suddenly got around that problem to continue on that task like normal. Clearly, this is the very update a lot of bigger games simply don't seem to deliver.

Sure this update might not be enough to start loving the game. I always felt since the company working closely with it's community. They wanna make sure we are enjoying their video games. Which is saying a lot compared to a lot of bigger game companies including Rockstar. Yeah you guys dropped the ball big time on GTA Trilogy Remastered, what a joke!!!

Postal 4 makes exploring more worth your time. I even liked I leave one part of the map then go back to there. I can go to the same exact spots for a few items to stock up on them. Not only that, doing Rampage will give you rewards. Which mostly helps if you are low on money critical before attempting Friday.

I also hope they may consider making Saturday and Sunday expansion levels to the game. Like in Postal 2, we had Apocalypse Weekend. Someone did make a mod with all seven levels into one long game. Obviously, they likely do it again with Postal 4. After all, it is the true sequel to Postal 2. Yes I did criticize a lot of jokes didn't necessary land.

The game is still a great time especially if you wanna play something different. Well sometimes for just that purpose you should consider checking out indie video games. Postal 4 is in a more finished state now. Of course, there's some notable issues they need to fix. Otherwise, this made my purchase on GOG suddenly felt totally worth every penny.

Of course for fun, I made this very meme that Running with Scissors liked off of Twitter down below...
