Why I don't like MTV 2's Celebrity Deathmatch show?

Hello everyone I'm Jack Red, I grew up watching MTV Celebrity Deathmatch. Oh man, I remember always looking forward to this show. It still one of my favorite animated shows ever. It may not been an inspiration for the web show Death Battle but it's the closest thing I seen to this. Honestly, I have so many positive things to say about that show.

Sadly, it's more of the exact opposite about the MTV 2 reboot show. Where to begin? I didn't like the look of blood at all. They barely nailed any jokes with the funniest being that Meet Wally Sparks joke. This had some of the absolute worst fights in history of the show. A perfect example being Shaquille O'Neal vs Kobe Bryant.

Believe it or not, this is the only fight to actually happen on both versions of the show. Originally, the fight was done so well on the original version with Bryant won. It's already questionable why do it again. But oh man did they ruin it so bad. They made Bryant too short with Shaq being too tall. It is one of the shortest fights ever.

I do need to mention Chris Farley vs Horatio Sanz fight. According to the rules on the old version, as soon as someone entered the ring. If anyone dies at any point even before the match starts, it counts. However they decided to abuse a new rule. Thus, they kept reusing the time machine to back Farley back.

This happens a few times then finally Sanz gets killed by Farley just like that what?. I didn't like Tally Wong at all, they clearly playing off Nick & Debbie not liking each other but with Johnny instead. Even the referee isn't safe. Oh okay I will excuse the man himself couldn't talk properly due to a stroke.

In this way, it was a great decision because how they used his character in such weird ways. Not only that, they force Nick getting into things more than they should've. They haven't done many twists on matches either. One of the stupidest they done is actually a match voted in by fans. I got a confession, just out of curious I voted for that match.

What is the match in question you are probably wondering? Ashlee Simpson vs Her Old Nose. I thought it was going to be Nicholas Cage vs John Travolta which played off Face/Off movie twist. Sadly, they actually made Simpson's old nose into a huge talking nose character. Let's be honest, Fandemonium episodes were amazing.

A lot of creativity went into those episodes even allowing the fans to choose who fights. This includes Howard Stern being a guest referee in a mud match between Carmen Electra and Jenna McCarthy. They even done the cast of the first two seasons of the reality show, Survivor. Sadly, a handful of viewer fights made it in.

They didn't do very much about those at all with horrible choices. Keep in mind, both seasons this show had either eight episodes long. Which is much shorter than any season of the original show. They even did a stupid trick to cut four celebrities in halves then force combined em together. If I wanted something like this, I rather rewatch any Super Freak fight.

There's absolutely no sign of Stone Cold Steve Austin whose one of my favorite wrestlers ever. Not as many celebrities got voiced by the actual people either. Now even in the original show, not many celebrities done so with Steve Austin & Mills Lane being the most recurring. The original show did spice things up especially in ways you wouldn't expect.

They also reused Nick vs Johnny that later became an unscheduled match. Bam Margera took on Tony Hawk then his uncle Don Vito not long afterwards. They made the classic characters we love not rememberable actually more forgettable. They didn't push the envelope like the original show. Very few fights were at least worth a rewatch.

They went more ridiculous in ways that just didn't work well. When the original show done similar things, it actually worked. Not to mention, sometimes they had creatures including Big Foot & the Loch Ness Monster. They didn't even do any holiday theme episodes. They did do a comedy theme episode.

If I recall, the only show only done that theme twice. Funny enough, the only celebrities to appear between both shows on those episodes are Ben Stiller and Rodney Dangerfield. This show simply does not work at all. Even the video game was way better than this garbage. You can't blame me for not fully being on board with this show coming back.
