Why parodies works better in shows than movies?

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, here's a concept I kept thinking about for months. I'm sure a lot of people notice parodies within shows is notably funnier than in movies. This also include movies not meant to be parody movies that's comedy films I know I'm about to open a huge can of worms here. I felt there's some great reasons why parodies simply works better in shows.

Obviously a movie even it's meant to be just one could take a few years to make. In a sense, seasons of a show are more monthly with their productions. A major difference is most movie franchises doesn't plan for a sequel movie. Usually horror movie franchises do since there's huge money in em. This also explains why sometime there's a longer notable gap between movies.

Even comedy films suffers from trying to get em done. A movie is one planned project compared to a season of show that can differ in many ways. Episodes could be longer or shorter than expected. Seasons can also differ on the amount of episodes as well. Shows can more directly keep things fresh. There's plenty sitcom shows that's proof of that.

Yes some are quite offensive not meant for everyone. Shows more likely stick closer to the original concepts. It doesn't mean some aspects can't change overtime. A good example being Steve Urkel in Family Matters. Originally he was going to appear once. His surprise popularity from that appearance led the character being an recurring character on the show.

In fact, most Family Matters fans considers him among the best characters on that show. Another famous example was Penny for The Big Bang Theory. A slightly different situation, they originally were going to do the concept with a different female character. But the audience greatly prefer Penny leading her becoming part of the cast.

I think another huge factor is films has bigger expectations than shows on television and streaming platforms. By default, people has a more ridiculous expectations. To the point, a lot of newer comedy films aren't doing well. The industry comedy wise is virtually dog slow. Several other major movie genres like Sci-fi, horror and action has a lot more going for em.

This indirectly helps comedy shows to stand a bigger chance. They also could work on multiple episodes compared to one movie. I know many actors and actresses can work on multiple projects. Which can include both forms of media. Ultimately the staff is notably smaller for comedy shows. But that's also why they ultimately held up better.

You got teams that worked together for years. Yes they often swap out directors to a degree. This heavily plays into how to make shows funnier long term. It's sorta like families that wants to have a great time together. In comparison, comedy movies are more like once in a blue moon occasions. Sure many sitcom shows had notable decline in later years.

At the same time, some of them like Futurama is still great shows. This is why The Big Bang Theory was so great!!! A lot of my favorite sitcom shows was 90s to early 2000s. Although the one I often talk about is The Simpsons. I felt live action wise shows can differ in quality. There was a time Two Broke Girls used to be an funny show.

Then some of the people involved with the show decided to ruin it on purpose to get it canceled. I would say stick with the era I previously mentioned for some great sitcom shows. Yes I do enjoy some of the big names of that era. If I had to pick a favorite live action sitcom show. This might come as a huge surprise, Everyone Loves Raymond.

Some of the characters in particular Raymond's parents reminds me of my grandparents on my mom's side. There's many other great reasons why I ended up enjoying that show so much!!! Animated wise the more family comedy movies is better than parody films. There was a era, parody films used to be quite entertaining.

I could name several shows parodying many things that's way better. Although I always respected an handful of parody films like Space Balls. Even comparing live action comedy movies. This might be a hot take on the topic. I strongly felt 80s to 90s was the funniest era of movies to me. One of my absolute favorite sports comedy movies is Kingpin.

Yes I also heard they are going to make a sequel. Honestly, I won't expect much with an handful of actors coming back. I highly doubt Randy Quaid going to come back though. Around 2010s era of live action comedy movies gotten notably stupider. Very forced over the top style that I couldn't take seriously in a bad way.

I will confessed I liked The Hungover series. Those were surprisingly funny movies. I do agree the last one wasn't great but still somewhat enjoyable. Animated sitcom shows could go in so many directions. Some of them are incredibly difficult to predict what's going to happen. Which is perfect for making jokes that ends up being incredibly funny.

One of my favorite mess up jokes from these shows in recent years. Came from Disenchantment, Bean's uncle was talking to God. Late into the same episode, he replies to God saying. "You're a sick bastard." I actually laughed very hard the first time I heard that. Rick & Morty from what I seen is all over the place.

Somehow as chaotic it was works amazingly well. Some people really enjoy the more offensive animated sitcom shows like South Park or Family Guy. One of my favorites among that style again a hot take was F Is for Family. American Dad! is among my favorites. This show takes such huge risks that works amazingly well!!!

They directly parodying governments especially the US government. Of course, there needs to be a great ratio. Otherwise any joke that could be thrown out won't fly. Movies more recently tries to rush such an process. Shows found the perfect middle ground to remain funny for many years. This is a topic I really could talk about for hours.

Ultimately you could easily marathon the right shows compared to comedy movies or parody films. Even if you watch the classics you can't deny. A lot of these shows are instantly timeless. In some way, it relates to you as well as your family. Not only that, I seen more actual creativity. I do gotta mention both occasionally has notable stinkers.

You can't be funny all the time. More recently, I found shows to be roughly nine times funnier. Which is sad it's gotten that notably better at making people laugh. All of a sudden, the more popular form of media isn't looking great. You really can't go wrong with the right comedy shows. By now, there's something for everyone in comparison to movies of the same genre.
