Jack Red reviews Jump Force again

Hello everyone I'm Jack Red aka XboxClown89, last time I reviewed Jump Force was a few years ago. Keep in mind, back then that was Xbox One version. This time I'm reviewing the Steam version plus every dlc to make it a more definitive review of an anniversary game. Jump Force is best sum up as a mixed bag experience.

Jump Force centers on your avatar character who nearly dies very early in the game. The only way to save you was transform you into a hero. You get to work with a lot of iconic characters from Shonen Jump's past. There's a long list for even naming every franchise represent in this game. I prefer to go over the good before the bad since I got a lot to talk about on the not great stuff.

For the most part, the artwork is mostly solid. The selection of characters especially adding in dlc ones is amazingly good. Also you can increase your level cap in those missions by winning those fights. Yes you can customize your character for the most part how you want. You also can easily access missions at a few spots around the hub area.

The sound effects to me are more decent than the actual music. Before I talk about all the problems I had with this. Next month, this game with every dlc will be removed from all digital stores. Later this year in August, online support for the game will be shut down. Alright now it's time to bash this game's head in.

The controls were alright on Xbox One version. But on Steam version, I still do not know how to block. I actually went through the campaign with multiple losses not blocking even once. Not only that it didn't register my controller either making it even worse. So I had a rough time trying to play the game.

They did add in missions with dlc characters. Sadly the story itself is actually more forgivable than Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. There is virtually no variety within the main missions at all. It's too fighting based with no real way to spice it up. Oh wait that's not entirely true because the first phase of the final boss fight, you don't have powers.

Which means you can't do anything other than the basics against a very cheap opponent. Sounds like fun right? Well guess what you bet it sure wasn't game developers. There's more going on the other missions not connected to the story. You also fight a lot of the same characters repeatedly. The campaign doesn't just drag on, it means you even sick of all the fighting.

Which is the direct opposite what a fighting game meant to do. Considering this came from Bandai Namco, responsible for both Tekken and SoulCalibur series. I expected much better than this garbage. I will praise the selection of dlc characters. However I also can argue a handful of them should've already been in the game like Law or Grimmjow.

There isn't that many stages either but they all look nice at least. Jump Force is even beaten in comparison to Sonic Forces in a couple of ways. For starters, that does have a more interesting story. More rememberable moments as well as better boss fights. More in depth customization of your avatar character.

Even Episode Shadow that's three stages where you play as Shadow was fine. More fine than the constant fighting with the story being a major missed opportunity. If you expected some interactions with the characters, go look somewhere else. Not only that, the difficulty spikes a lot especially late into the campaign.

You do get to choose which team you work for. Obviously I chose Captain Luffy but Goku would've been my second choice. The ending is kinda lackluster even with one character twist that stood out a bit. Honestly, as much I love anime in general. This game really isn't worth killing myself over.

I played more decent One Piece & Dragon Ball games. Hell a friend let me try out Jump Super Stars on DS, which was way better in comparison. Keep in mind, that's an handheld game. This was released on a few platforms that's no excuse for that. Even for an 50th anniversary game to represent Shonen Jump.
