Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, it's been a little over a week since Chainsaw Man manga ended. I never seen such a mixed reception for an manga ending in a long time. Either you like maybe love it or actually dislike to hating the ending altogether? Then I got thinking I could discuss a little more about that while comparing the endings of the other two series in the Dark Trio.
When I started writing about the Dark Trio. I previously gave my first thoughts on each stories' first chapters. I think it's time to do end things by doing what I think of their endings. Plus additional thoughts on Chainsaw Man's ending. Keep in mind, this is strictly my opinion alone. I'm up to discussing some of this as long as people are respectful.
Hell's Paradise
Chapter 127
The previous chapter the surviving characters split. Only the samurai gotten the reward for the mission from the shogun. They knew the shogun wouldn't allow more than one criminal to get forgiven for their crimes. You get to see where everyone went with a few characters sticking together. The actual final chapter Sagiri came to visit Gabimaru.
He was still asleep during her visit while she spent time with his wife. It also was revealed Chobei Aza was reborn more actively into crime with his brother. I know some felt this was a safe ending. Man it was such a beautifully written ending for such a story. There's no question the best ending the Dark Trio has to offer.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Chapter 271 and Epilogue
The previous chapter started up Yuji's group working on stopping this guy. Nothing major actually happens making it felt like a huge waste of time. The final concept introduced then dropped was Yuji offered to guide him as a jujutsu sorcerer. We know it's a dropped concept because virtually nothing about that in the sequel at all.
Epilogue quickly concluded several character's stories. Yuji possibly hooks up with Yuko we don't actually know in the sequel story. Panda is in a much smaller form that does cameo in that story. The same portion has Yuta and Maki's grandkids. Who are some of the main characters in the sequel story. Nobara confronts her mother it's nothing special.
We also get to see an conversation in the afterlife with Sukuna. Very little of this was followed up on in the sequel story. Honestly, I do agree Epilogue was a little better than the final chapter. At the same time, I easily could've said it's not worth reading both of them. Ultimately you are going to feel a huge disappointment.
Chainsaw Man
Chapter 232

Updated thoughts on Chainsaw Man's ending
I recently covered the final two chapters in a previous blog entry. Don't worry I will link that to save those interested time. Some people actually pointed out some good points about the ending. For example, Denji wields a chainsaw in the final chapter. Previously Pochita whose the Chainsaw Devil erased himself.
A lot of people don't realize thanks to Nuclear Weapons Devil. Weapon devils can be reinvented bringing those devils back into existence. Therefore, it shouldn't be that big of a surprise. They didn't expect the possibility chainsaws could still exist in the new time line. There's the famous assumption that the Death Devil now has the power to erase devils from existence.
Which actually would line up in a few ways within the new time line. In either time line, the Death Devil was considered the most powerful devil in existence. It never was explained how the Chainsaw Devil gained that ability prior to the reset. Many people assumed that power came from the Death Devil.
After the Death Devil was erased by Pochita. Every single way anyone previously died completely off the table. She also represents majority forms of fears. Which also meant Pochita effectively erased all related devils the same time as her. I know this is getting very ridiculous. Now considering she possibly has the ability to erase devils from existence would further solidify her status among the devils.
A lot of people Why Nayuta showed up instead of Makima? Originally Makima wanted to use Chainsaw Devil's power to erase devils to her advantage. Makima caused a lot of deaths within Part 1 of the story. There's some signs proving she was using Denji the entire time. Including their first meeting after the Zombie Devil and zombies slaughtered.
She actually never cared for Denji. She had this weird obsession with the Chainsaw Devil. We may not fully know her plan. There's some hints, she would've used that power on some of her sisters. When she looks at Denji, she only sees Pochita. Which ended up working against her in the final battle of Part 1. Denji cared enough to devour Makima until nothing was left out of love.
Denji had a more personal connection with Nayuta. I may not have the answer regarding Makima herself. In the original timeline, Denji acted like a big brother to Nayuta. It is possible traits of that altered reality during a reset. Which would explain why Nayuta instead of Makima showed up? A lot of people were freaking out Aki doesn't show up.
In the original time line, Aki joined Public Safety while wanting to venge his family from the Gun Devil. We find out late into Part 1, Makima controlled that devil. Which meant she manipulated his life to better suit her plans. It's unclear about the Gun Devil in the new time line. But it's safe to assume Aki in this new time line never joined Public Safety.
The assumption being he ends up living a normal life with a family. Never wanting revenge against the Gun Devil in the first place. This also meant Denji possibly never met Aki in the new time line. We only have one chapter to go on. Obviously this also prevented War Devil possessing Asa as well. Notably happier than she originally was in the old time line.
Some people were even confused Reze doesn't show up. Personally this is more of a minor thing despite liking Reze a lot. A lot of people forgotten she's an assassin. She went to America on a mission that's it. She did ended up having some feelings for her target. In the new time line, Denji's first major love interest was Asa.
Reze only shown up because a lot of people wanted to use Chainsaw Devil's powers. In the new time line that's no longer a possibility. Ultimately preventing the last three arcs of Part 1 from happening. You also got to consider she came from Russia to do that mission. Without Pochita, she possibly never left Russia.
The big thing to take away from this is majority of the events in Part 1 were manipulated by Makima in the old time line. The assumption going by the old time line logic is Makima already dead. Which by itself would raise a lot of questions. Nayuta was the next Control Devil replacing Makima in the story. I kept thinking of a mess up possibility.
Assuming this gets confirm by the author. As many Chainsaw Man fans knows a lot of devils were erased from existence by Chainsaw Devil. Among a long list of them is AIDS Devil. In the old time line, Fumiko made a deal with the STD Devil. Everyone knows both STD and AIDS are sexual transmitted diseases.
The point I'm about to make strangely does make sense if it ends up being true. In the old time line, Makima made a particular deal connecting to the entire population of Japan. Is it possible with AIDS Devil existing, a lot of people with the disease caused Makima's death? Indirectly Makima would've died from the disease.
Keep in mind a lot of what I'm saying is true. A good amount of what I'm also saying is my best possible guesses. Especially if the author does follow things up with the new time line. Honestly, I don't think the new time line going to get as bad as late Part 2 of the story. There's still going to be a lot of chaos with many destroyed buildings with a huge body count.
She's also one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse all female devils in canon. The only other possible explanation why Nayuta showed up instead? As reality getting reset while removing Chainsaw Devil from the equitation altogether. Somehow Makima was missing due to being previously devoured by Denji who lacked the ability to erase devil until merge form.
Such weird logic trying to explain but the very logic I came to accept from the franchise. What if Denji devoured Makima in several dishes? In a rather unexpected way caused her to not be presented within the new time line. Indirectly solidifying Denji's placement in that time line. Basically triggered a possibility no one could've predicted.
This isn't even bringing up Nayuta originally was her reincarnation. Unlike Makima, her death didn't present a problem while resetting everything. Imagine Reverse-Flash went back in time to kidnapped a childhood friend of Barry Allen. Then removed him from time effectively erasing him altogether. In a more mess up way that's what exactly happened!!!
In the old time line, Katana Man held a grudge against Denji over his deceased grandfather. Despite the fact, Zombie Devil killed then possessed his corpse. In the new time line, he would still hold a grudge against him. Now he also would hold one against Power. I do like that concept of what could come from this.
This could've led to Katana Man becoming his nemesis rather than War Devil. In the new time line, Denji just a normal human. Just imagine the famous train fight with Power in place of Denji. Now that actually would've been cinema stuff. This also prevents the guy who became Fake Chainsaw Man from becoming a monster as well as a lot of people.
This reset heavily prevents a lot of arcs in Part 2 from happening. It doesn't mean they still wouldn't have an apocalypse. The assumption going to be the Death Devil as stated in a prediction within the story. Clearly I'm putting a lot of thought into this. I know it's crazy ideally how differently the story going to be following a reset.
Due to a reset, War Devil would never went for a ridiculous reality warping plan. Effectively removing that apocalypse from happening. Death Devil won't be erased in the new time line. Automatically removes devils devouring humans for an eternity apocalypse as well. It's safe to say the original foreseen end of humanity left in play here.
I also notice a lot of people felt too many questions with not enough answers. A reset virtually made that pointless because we're starting over again fresh. I kept thinking about this ending for a long time. I still felt it's a good way to end the story. The ending itself proven Chainsaw Man always had the craziest potential in the Dark Trio.
Conclusion
Jujutsu Kaisen easily had the most rushed, unsatisfying ending of the Dark Trio. I'll be very honest, neither felt necessary. I could've stopped a chapter before being slightly more fine. To me, both felt like a huge waste of time. Chainsaw Man doing a reset brought back the possibilities. It was a well written final chapter.
Sure it's not perfect but it's still giving me a lot more than JJK's ending. Even that pales to Hell's Paradise's ending. Easily, among the greatest manga endings I ever seen!!! There really isn't much to criticize here. Actually felt quite satisfied following the ending. I know two of these endings are heavily criticized.
The first chapters was much closer than this. All of those chapters were beautifully written. Great artwork starting up the plot of their respective stories. The endings is more a bit mixed but there's some good things among them. I know I'm not talking about Chainsaw Man Part 1's ending. But when people think of Chainsaw Man's ending, it's regarding Part 2's final chapter.
To be honest, even that's a better ending than JJK. It left the door open for more story leading into Part 2. Yes majority of the events were reset to never happened. I can get behind a story that took such a huge risk. Especially compared to another story guilty constantly introducing concepts. Then quickly dropping em right up the final chapter is a rather difficult pill to swallow.
