Death Battle Fight Prediction: Ganon (The Legend of Zelda) vs. Dracula (Castlevania)

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I remember seven years ago on ScrewAttack's website now Death Battle. A group of people made a web comic between The Legend of Zelda's Ganon taking on Castlevania's Dracula. It's difficult to believe I waited seven years for this fight to finally happen. Two dark lords that death can't keep resting with an army of darkness.

I actually loved this concept for so many reasons. For starters, not to piss anyone off. I felt Bowser just wasn't the right opponent for Ganon. Despite having questionable durability as well as more ridiculous magic. He simply couldn't kill Ganon due to a strict method of death. Also Ganon can easily counter the worst he can dish out.

I felt in this particular case, an army battle would be much closer. Both of them has transformations while Dracula can have up to two or three forms. Both of them kept getting resurrected. In a way, both of them are fighting against a particular family bloodline capable of killing them. Thus these two dark lords has centuries worth of experience making this a surprisingly interesting fight.

Ganondorf aka Ganon

Ganon is an reincarnation of Demise that kept getting resurrected to try taking over Hyrule. He is the wielder of the Triforce of Power making him a god like being. Ganon is confirmed to be the same one in majority of Zelda games. This guy is a threat to anything including the Goddesses. His lust for power is insane bordering on ridiculous levels.

Vlad Tepes aka Vlad the Impaler aka Count Dracula aka Mathias Cronqvist

Mathias Cronqvist was a close friend to Leon Belmont before claiming power from a vampire named Walter Bernhard. It was this very moment, a family of hunters spend centuries hunting him. Dracula has all kind of monsters under his command including the grim reaper himself. This vampire has shown to do cruel things that's difficult to imagine.

Weaknesses

Ganon

Ganon is very stubborn in his own right. His lust for power can get the better of him. Due to being immortal through the Triforce of Power, he often gets careless. Only a sacred weapon such as the master sword can kill him. It can take time before being revived. It is possible to seal or trap Ganon for long periods of time.

Dracula

Dracula can be arrogant at times. Like most vampires does have weaknesses like lack of blood or sunlight. It does take time to resurrect him usually stated at most to take an century. Although there are a few rare cases, he got revived a few years later long story. It is possible to kill him with holy weapons including the Belmont family's Morning Star whip.

Advantages

Ganon

+Superior Invulnerability
+Superior Endurance
+Superior Strength
+More experience (although by how much isn't exactly clear)
+Carries an holy weapon or two that can kill Dracula
+Has a strict way to die
+Capable of resurrecting himself

Dracula

+More transformations
+Superior Speed
+Has more magic attacks for battle
+Easier to revive
+If this were an army battle, Dracula does have Death
+Likely to have the environment advantage
+More monster variety under his command
+Put a spell to keep it constantly night centering around the location of his castle
+Smarter

Disadvantages

Ganon

-Weak to light magic attacks
-Not as speed in comparison
-More stubborn out of the two
-More likely to drop his guard
-Majority of his magic is meant for other things rather than those for a battle
-If Death gets used could bypass his strict method of death
-It is possible to disrupt the resurrection process

Dracula

-Weak to sunlight
-Weak to holy weapons
-Needs help to be resurrected
-Doesn't have anything on hand that can kill Ganon
-Not as strong
-Not as durable
-Doesn't have as much experience as Ganon
-More likely to get tired
-His transformations are vastly different from each other
-Weak to light magic attacks

Verdict

I felt doing one on one or an army theme battle. To me, the winner of this fight is obvious. Ganon has some great advantages over Dracula simply can't overcome in this fight. For starters. just stats wise with Dracula easily taking the speed advantage still falls short. Although Ganon's strength isn't constant, we still seen him lift much heavier things in comparison to Dracula.

Truthfully based on what I know Lord of Shadows Dracula would hold up closer in overall stats. Especially in the strength department. But the classic Dracula doesn't have many strength feats to go on. We just know he's notably stronger than a human while Ganon has strength to rival even gods. Which isn't far from the truth.

Let's be honest, Ganon has been more active in majority of Zelda games. Dracula gets revived late in most Castlevania games. Usually by that point, a Belmont is ready to challenge him not giving him much time at all. Dracula has a long history of being vulnerable to both holy weapons & sunlight. Thankfully Dracula does have a spell to make it constantly night.

In some cases, during his defeat that spell wears off allowing sunlight through that ends up killing him. It turns out Ganon does wield holy weapons from time to time. Although I do got to answer the big question here. If given the chance could Dracula actually kill Ganon? No because it states Ganon can only be killed by the master sword.

But it goes further than that, it also must be wielded by the chosen one who represents the Triforce of Courage aka Link. The Belmont family uses the Morning Star whip that killed all kind of creatures including Dracula for centuries. Yet this whip by itself wasn't the factor behind killing them. It turns out each Belmont has some great amount of holy power within them.

Thus if someone else other than a Belmont uses that whip likely wouldn't be close as active. Dracula can be killed by holy weapons. So Ganon already has one direct method of killing Dracula right off the bat. Due to this following fact, there is little to nothing Dracula can do to kill Ganon. I should mention, Ganon was an reincarnation of a powerful being Demise.

Obviously Ganon is notably weaker. But there are plenty of proof that supports Ganon still is one of the most powerful beings in existence. It took centuries for the Belmont family to finally slay Dracula good in the year of 1999. I swear I'm not making this up lol. In an army battle, technically speaking Dracula would gain one possible way of killing Ganon.

Among his servants, there is Death whose rivals even Dracula in power. He too has some difficult to counter abilities while having even more experience than Dracula himself. Let's be honest, Ganon's army would like take out majority of weaker monsters. I think when the stronger ones comes out is where things gets crazier.

Ganon has proven to hold his own against anyone. Considering several Belmont family members & Dracula's son Alucard defeated Death before. It would be no surprise Ganon could defeat him in combat by himself. Even if he transforms, I highly doubt he could force Ganon's soul to leave his body due to the Triforce of Power as well as his magic skills.

Dracula did stolen his power from another vampire with the help of Leon Belmont. Both of these dark lords were so obsessed with power enough to become bonded with a rather unusual force. However in the case of Ganon, the Triforce of Power essentially is one of three goddess that created the Zelda universe.

In due time, following Dracula's final defeat. His descendant Soma ended up getting his powers. This happened due to no one claiming it for themselves. But the moment Ganon claimed the Triforce of Power, no one can take it from him. It turns out it actually was meant to be his in the first place. Simply by possessing it gave him immortality.

Dracula's immortality is like most vampires with several methods to kill. So technically speaking he wasn't actually immortal in comparison. Ganon can also revived himself while Dracula needed his servants to do that. Which in many cases can take a century to do. Sure there are a few rare cases like Castlevania 2: Simon's Question. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night & Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge.

All of these happened for different reasons that led to Dracula being revived a few years later instead. I should mention due to the Triforce of Power, Ganon is capable of increasing his potential to some degree. In Dracula's case he has to transform. In most cases, he can fight with two forms while in some cases can have up to three of them like Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse.

Although there's a few time lines within the Zelda universe. It is the same Ganon present in all of them. Also it doesn't specify how far back in the past Ganon or Demsie goes. Bu it highly implies to be longer than nearly one thousand years under Dracula's belt. I should mention, both of them does have legendary magic skills in their own right.

Ganon does have access to stuff like the same death spell that eventually killed the Deku Tree from within. In this case, if Ganon casts that spell from anywhere in Dracula's castle should have the same effect. After all, his castle is representing his power. Sure he can alter it's location as well as it's overall layout to a degree.

Honestly if it worked on the Deku Tree which is considered to be a deity in it's own right. Then it should easily work on Dracula. Who by the way doesn't have a counter for a spell like this. Dracula doesn't have enough in his arsenal to survive long against Ganon. By default, Ganon has a few methods of killing Dracula while the solo method to kill Ganon simply isn't possible here.

Not to mention, Ganon had more overall experience. Likely could handle both Dracula & Death at the same time. Although Dracula had better advantages over Ganon than Bowser did. Honestly this is still a good fight for what it truly is. Even in the case of a fight to the death being this clear cut. I can't simply call this an stomp since Dracula does have some great stuff going for him.

There is still a few more things I must discuss. Every Link continues the experience of the previous one. Thus each newer one constantly adds to that ever growing experience. While in the case of the Belmont family, usually most of them faces Dracula once in their life time. There are some exceptions related to his suddenly revivals where a handful of them faces Dracula again.

It does state that the Belmont family are among the best hunters as well as having knowledge of magic including dark magic. They secretly kept most of that hidden in a place to those who are within the family. I know this is a rather unusual comparison right. A family blood line to all the chosen ones of the Triforce of Courage.

I am just stating not to piss any fan base off. Link beating Ganon is impressive for many factors. While in vice versa, centuries worth of the Belmonts took on Dracula's army. We got to consider the two have a different usage of the world experience. Link & Zelda kept getting revived due to their pieces of the Triforce.

Link is essentially all of them in one while it clearly stats differences between each Belmont including John Morris. I won't make this more confusing than it already is. Thus each one is their own character in comparison. Essentially Link has all of that experience while the Belmont family can't truly say the same thing.

In other words, Link simply isn't your usual being while every Belmont that has faced Dracula are humans. Sure all of them in their own right are truly amazing at their jobs. I am not really trying to down play the Belmont family, I'm a huge fan of theirs. A deeper look determines anyone could potentially defeat Dracula while only Link can defeat Ganon.

This was proven true by his own son Alucard defeating him in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Now I know what you are thinking, yes Alucard does use holy weapons as well. You would be right but even several characters acknowledge his power  compares to Dracula's. So technically speaking, he could've won without holy weapons by using his powers.

Those who aren't Link attempted to beat Ganon by raw force alone. But ultimately get defeated by him instead. This proves it's impossible to defeat Ganon by raw power alone. There isn't many powerful beings that are technically stronger than him. It is possible to harm Ganon through using light magic but Dracula doesn't have access to it since he too is vulnerable to it.

To be honest, this fight is already way more interesting than Bowser vs. Ganon. To me, that was a throw away episode. I get the reason why people wanted it but come on there's more potential in this fight. Also this episode would be perfect for an Halloween episode. I felt Dracula simply makes more sense to put against Ganon due to their strong similarities.

Winner: Ganon (The Legend of Zelda)

Update: on September 28th Not long after my prediction blog was finished I gotten more information I wasn't aware of. Although I don't think it is critical enough to change my blog entirely over it. I would like to share this information to those interested. Keep in mind, all of this was my research but some friends did point a few things out that I didn't know about prior to writing this.

It turns out Dracula can fuse with Death to become more powerful as well as gaining his abilities. Which does include Death Manipulation. But each piece of the Triforce is the goddess who created the Zelda universe. The same ones that came up with a strict way to kill Ganon. Death is an abyssal being yet gods have higher authority.

Ganon has infinite strength & magic through the Triforce of Power while Dracula has to open the Chaos Realm. This is the source of Dracula's powers. It is here, his magic & strength could rival Ganon's. The problem however is Ganon could destroy it thus killing Dracula for good. In vice versa, Dracula can't destroy the Triforce of Power.

Also majority of Dracula's defeats occurred while Dracula wasn't even at full power. A handful of occasions, Dracula got defeated at full power including Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. In comparison, Ganon gets fully revived for the most part. There is one rare occasion, his resurrection got interrupted.

Calamity Ganon from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was still capable of doing stuff you would expect from Ganon. I do need to point out Ganon could pass as human but technically more of a demon. Which could allow some of Dracula's powers strictly meant for humans to not work on him. Not only that his descendant Soma in a light novel gained the ability to erase beings out of existence.

Last I checked, Dracula himself does not have this power otherwise I would've went with him. Dracula also has more massive differences in his transformations. Mostly he becomes bigger in size while in some occasions he actually gotten smaller. I still stand by with giving Dracula the speed advantage in this fight.
