Personally I never been a fan of Final Fantasy VII. The last thing I wanna do is fully reveal why. I know a couple friends going to be very excited. Obviously I'm not going to cover everything or you would've been in for a very lengthy blog entry. I rather cover the announcements I have a lot more interest in. I will say there's some great surprises.
I won't cover them in order of reveal. Now that quickly gets boring I wanna be more unexpected. I know some of these won't be a surprise at all. I also know many people are just as excited maybe more than myself. Also considering there isn't much to write about recently. I needed something like this I could be very happy to talk about.
Saw: Genesis
Along with Halloween: The Game now part of a trend. They first come to Dead by Daylight. Eventually these franchises gets their own multiplayer horror game. The real surprise is Bloober Team developing this Saw game. They been killing it with their horror games including Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Just going by the trailer, the survivors needs to work together to survive. But assuming some sections be like the movies. The survivors could have the choice to screw one or two players over to survive. You also don't know which curve balls Jigsaw going to throw at them. I can tell you this Saw game blowing out the previous Saw games!!!
I wish they would've made this a more story based experience. Like every survivor has a connection to each other but they don't know what the connections are. Just like Saw movies if that ends up in the game. They also remaking Silent Hill 1 as well. I'm willing to watch actual game play of this Saw game soon.
I also wanna see some new traps. Of course, some classic traps would be nice as well. But by having some newer traps adds in more crazier possibilities to the game. It's a little weird this Saw game seems to be taking place during World War 2 or that's what it looks like. I'm sure this will get further explained in the actual game.
I also want to see actual gore from each traps. Something everyone expects from Saw is the gore!!! There's a huge variety of situations they easily could pull from the movies. I do see huge potential if they go about the game just right. I felt it's got more of a chance than Halloween: The Game. I still felt the upcoming Hellraiser game going to be a little better though.
007 First Light
I watched a friend I moderator played majority of this Bond game. You bet I really wanna play this Bond game soon. I already knew the team was going to constantly add in stuff. Exactly what they previously done to the last three Hitman games. Which ended up becoming Hitman: World of Assassination.
I also started to expect a possible DLC mission or story portion to happen. They just confirmed yes it's getting a DLC story mission soon. This might actually be a short mission lineup. Quickly going through a crazy story while bringing back Bawma. Whose played by musician Lenny Kravitz. I have a few possible ideas what could happen.
The big one is he gets caught trying to gain some form over MI6. Forcing Bond to take on a lot of people in Africa to reach Bawma. All of a sudden being like late John Wick 4 movie. Where Wick was fighting very hard to get to a man he wanted to kill. I don't think Bond going to die if that happens.
Although suddenly forcing Bond to take out so many bad guys to get to Bawma would be insane!!! Another possible angle is his control over Africa gets regained then reduced by MI6. In a way both sides would win, Bawma has control over Africa again. At the same time, MI6 going to force some limitations or they would take him out.
This would be like that one scene from The Godfather. MI6 possibly through Bond about to give Bawma an offer he can't refuse. New Game+ is probably the one thing I wanted from all that. I just hope they allow you to go through the game with what you already have. The earlier missions going to be even easier.
The harder missions you will have more of a fighting chance. Of course, you easily could go about many missions in ways you couldn't previously. This really opens the doors for some crazier possibilities. I felt this would easily bring in a lot more replay value. Especially if they plan to keep adding in stuff.
Attack on Titan 3
It's no secret a particular team that does Dynasty Warriors series. They have a very notable history doing a couple crossover game franchises. We are talking Zelda, Gundam, One Piece and Attack on Titan respectively. I will be honest I didn't even know they made some Attack on Titan games before the announcement.
Thus it was my first time actually seeing how their Attack on Titan games plays live. To be honest, it was quite mind blowing!!! No really you see the scouts take on titans just like anything of the franchise. Let's pretend the stupid school spin off show doesn't exist. The graphics I gotta say were very amazing!!!
I really didn't go in expecting much. Now if anime games weren't so freaking expensive. Trust me, the kind deals I usually wait for to attempt getting them. I'm waiting a lot of years for any of them to get cheap enough especially around Christmas it's ridiculous!!! If these anime games were a little cheaper I would be more on board going for this.
Just seeing some titans attacking the scouts in the footage peeked my interest. I have a friend who played their previous Attack on Titan games. To me, he made those Attack on Titan games sound amazing!!! I was quite impressed by One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 myself. I also learned the hard way unless you know they're worth going for.
Don't be too quick to buy anime games. A lot of them doesn't live up to the hype. I will say I'm quite hype about this one. It does look like they're going to cover the ending portions of the story. Which is going to be some insane game play. This could be the greatest Attack on Titan game ever made if it's done right.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
Before they revealed anything new. They showcased what's left from Year 1 DLCs. Mostly TMNT which is all four ninja turtles and Avatar/Legend of Korra franchise respectively. I won't say much about the newer indie Sonic game. I just hope it won't suck that's it. I wasn't too surprised they brought in Godzilla.
Godzilla been doing a lot of crossovers recently. What did surprise me heavily was seeing Eva Unit-02 from Evangelion. We actually get to see this thing during a track moving fast. I'm aware they might have something else in mind. But I'm expecting a new track with a few characters. We just don't know how much they're going for off hand.
I'm only directly choosing Shinji who was the main pilot of Eva Unit-02. Two of the biggest Japanese monsters in one crossover Sonic racing game who knew right? Evangelion wasn't even on my radar which franchises could show up in this either. I was expecting a few DC characters due to a recent comic book crossover.
I also gotta say how sick it's going to be flying nearby Godzilla firing his Atomic Breath during a race. Just glad they didn't do that from the start of a race on that new track. We do know each DLC character franchises brings new tracks. They didn't confirm which version of Godzilla coming to the game.
The assumption likely being the same version in that crossover with Sonic. Eventually Godzilla crossover with everyone going to be an actual thing someday. I'm also hoping some of his enemies like King Ghidorah shows up. Which might be a big if since they wanna focus more on Godzilla. I personally would love to see two or more giant monsters fighting during a race.
Among Us
Among Us is a very popular indie game franchise. More recently there's a few alternate versions of the same game including VR. No one was expecting both announcements. The first announcement was a new Among Us game that's more story based. To me, Among Us reminds me of Scream franchise.
One or more killers hid within a group of people trying to kill em. Virtually what Imposters does in matches. I actually think they could do a lot with this concept. They even could add in more levels even some interesting what if stories to spice things up. I know Minecraft had a few story based spin off games from Telltale Games.
Speaking of them, I will be talking about them shortly. For right now this newer Among Us game already peaked my interest. I still haven't played any matches in the classic game yes I got it on Steam. They also announced a new animated show based on the game franchise. This also looked amazing with some huge voice actors.
It's hard to say which I was more interested in honestly. This newer Among Us game would be more about the concept itself. We may learn stuff we didn't surprisingly know prior. It's also possible they are going to add in more ways to die only found in that Among Us game. The show also could reveal things about the lore as well.
Among Us is a concept that quickly gets interesting. You just don't know whom could be the Imposters among them. This by itself leads to some terrible situations. It's no secret, Among Us been as big as it is now. I know some YouTubers moved on to Goose Goose Duck a famous knock off of the game.
A play on the famous kid's game Duck Duck Goose. I'm interested to play this newer Among Us game as well as watch the show. There's a lot of crazy possibilities that kept Among Us so interesting. They even had a limited time crossover with Scream Ghostface. I'll keep an eye for the newer Among Us game soon.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin
You thought I was done talking about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? The same company that stepped in to finish Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The same company responsible for Bayonetta series doing this TMNT game. For those not familiar with this TMNT concept. A rather tragic version of Michelangelo we're getting.
He was the only one left after his brothers died. This forced Michelangelo to become the best of them. Unlike most versions of the character, he is a rather serious, skilled ninja. The most bad ass version of Michelangelo by far. Going back to that Metal Gear game, Raiden was a cyborg ninja. I'm already viewing this as a spiritual successor to that Metal Gear game.
From what I seen of their work. We're in for a crazy, intense hack and slash beat 'em up game. Everyone knows his weapons of choice are Nunchucks. Which is more of a defensive weapon. I know it's a bit questionable Master Splinter gave the most complex weapon to him. This version of Michelangelo truly mastered using the weapon.
In a sense, he's like Marvel's The Punisher. Frank Castle in most versions of the origin story lost his family killed by criminals. This led to Castle becoming a violent vigilante that took the law into his own hands. This aspect of Michelangelo I liked a lot. Despite the horrible stuff that happened to his family.
Somehow Michelangelo kept on living staying true to his family. If anyone seen a show called ReBoot the 90s show? Enzo used to be an annoying kid that wouldn't stop bothering a guardian named Bob. Then when he became a guardian now known as Matrix. Which so happened to be his last name.
Matrix was the most bad ass character the show ever had!!! This is how massive of a change for a character I seen in a long time. They made the usual fun pop culture reference turtle into a rather bad ass ninja. I'm curious what the story could be? I knew eventually a game based on that version of Michelangelo had to happen soon.
The Wolf Among Us
Once again I'm talking about a few announcements for a franchise. TellTale Games is once again going to try giving us The Wolf Among Us 2. Which restarted development as far as I'm aware twice now. This is still among their most requested games to date. Considering how much I love the first one!!!
My expectations are still a bit high. Speaking of that, they also doing a remastered version of The Wolf Among Us as well. Yes they're giving us two The Wolf Among Us games with different expectations. The Wolf Among Us was voted on social media to be their greatest video game. To be honest, it really delivered to win that.
The Wolf Among Us was so unique for it's time. This was a licensed comic book game for those not aware. I still felt easily among the greatest of them I ever played!!! This is heavily story based no surprise there. But the way it went about the concept is exactly why it stands above the rest. You more directly notice some decisions had bigger effects on the story than previously.
They still have the rights to do another Batman game. Officially it's five games rolled into one. But none of them sucks whatsoever!!! The Wolf Among Us was truly amazing stuff!!! Despite the sequel restarted development twice. I can only hope the sequel lived up enough to the hype it's getting.
We all know if it doesn't they could be going under again. The Wolf Among Us is coming back in a huge way. I'm quite happy we're getting a newer version of a true classic. But we may possibly get the sequel next year finally. Another delay going to lost a lot of people at this point. In other words it better be damn great or it's over that simple.
Resident Evil: Veronica
Ever since Resident Evil 4 Remake. I been waiting patiently for Capcom to confirm a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X. I really wasn't expecting this live stream early on into it in fact was among the first announcements. Capcom finally announced the most wanted remake the fans including myself been asking for.
Resident Evil: Veronica with some footage of the game shown. We also know next year the game coming out. It seems to be the same team behind both Resident Evil 2 and 4 Remakes respectively. The one thing people really don't wanna see is the game. Being done by Resident Evil 3 Remake team.
This will effectively kill sales for the game. They already changed how Claire gets to Rockfort Island. Which is strikingly similar to getting kidnapped. Along other people in Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Assuming that might not change in the remake time line. Claire isn't as bright as I thought lol.
The game looks absolutely amazing!!! I'm not going to just talk about the footage here. Claire never looked this great in a video game honestly. I had some possible ideas what could be in this newer version. For example, what if Alfred was an actual person but Alexia being his multiple personality?
Which also could've given Alex Wesker the idea to transfer her mind into Natalia. It's debatable if Wesker could have a lesser presence or a bigger role. Especially both of those can heavily impact the game. Some people wants more Wesker in the game. I rather have him a little lesser for a greater overall impact on the story.
His few cutscenes having a bigger elements of surprise. You just don't quite know what he's up to? Wesker works best being mysterious. I felt a little too much Wesker could take more than that away. I do think we'll get slightly more Chris. Considering how Resident Evil Requiem swapped between characters.
I do see this team recreating that aspect with the Redfields. Which would make it more true to the older versions. I think Steve going to play a more important role. It's debatable if he'll be alive shorter or longer in this version of the game. I strongly felt Steve revealing more of his past to Claire would be a good idea.
I always felt that was such a missed opportunity in the older versions. We aren't sure how many creatures going to stay in the game. There's also the chance a few newer creatures could be added as well. I also think they could do a much deeper dive into Umbrella's past. Alfred and Alexia's grandfather Edward Ashford was one of the founders for Umbrella Corporation.
This might also reveal more about Spencer. It seems every newer Resident Evil game revealing more about his past. I'm already expecting his connections to Edward going to be revealed soon. They likely try to make it closer to the classic RE style game play. I'm well aware a lot of people don't like that.
The puzzles I want there to be a good amount of them. I really hoping they put some effort into them as well. I also would like back tracking to be slightly reduced. Code: Veronica X is known to be a huge back tracking Resident Evil game. What I also want is the overall difficulty to be balanced.
You have no idea how frustrating this issue is if you aren't an RE fan. Most US versions has one difficulty by default. But Japanese versions has a few difficulty levels to choose from. Yet the real issue was how unbalanced the difficulty is. You can tell the game was easier in some spots. But the difficulty spikes in other spots where you quickly could die.
I know some also felt like that towards Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. I played both of them, RE3 original was more balanced. Despite having more enemies that can instant kill you. I'm throwing this in as a joke. Steve bumps into Claire whose at a computer. By accident set an email neither doesn't know it's going to.
Later in the game, Chris confirms that email was sent to Leon. The rest of the joke would play out from there. She butt sent Leon an email would be funny. I also hope Rodrigo has a longer role. Usually they changed how some character died. Originally he died after being freed from Gulp Worm.
I have a gut feeling he'll get thrown off the plane by Tyrant-078. Yeah somehow Rodrigo dies worst is a bit mess up. Obviously most boss fights gets reworked. They'll make Steve boss fight more into an actual boss fight. You won't be able to just grab a particular key item then escape. Which you could do to an handful of bosses in the game.
If Bandersnatchs in the game I want more lore information about them. They were a failed Tyrant model meant to stretch around like a giant rubber band. I felt they'll make the main sections longer. But what you actually need to do a bit shorter than expected. Somehow they'll figure a way to balance it all out.
They also could tie in to Wesker Report 1 despite being semi canon. Wesker Report II was fully canon that's made for Resident Evil 1 Remake. The closest remake we ever gotten officially was Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. My expectations already going to be scary high for this!!! I do think it's going to be a great Resident Evil game.
I also felt a few areas they originally fail short in. Notably going to be heavily improved on. I'm talking beyond the game play itself. More actual lore reveals as well as how everything for future entries getting set up in the remake time line. I'm predicting this to easily blow away the older versions.
We have one of the finest stories ever told in an RE game. They are going to truly do it justice. Not only that, they could do The Mercenaries or a similar mini game. DLCs going to be mostly somewhat decent for the most part. I just don't wanna see half the game being DLC like Frank Rising for Dead Rising 4.
Yeah a lot of people hated that the last thing they need is this!!! Yeah you bought the game but you got to wait longer for the other half to come out. This by itself could cause the game sells. I also want more information about how Alexander Ashford became Nosferatu. Now that was something I wanted a little more of.
Conclusion
There's plenty to be excited for. We will see how many of them I get to play in the near future. But for the present, I'm happy for all those franchises. Honestly, this was a little too much for me to handle at one time. I barely had time accepting this announcement. At times, another announcement I'm quite excited for shows up.
I also felt can someone pull the brakes here? It was on the verge becoming too much. A lot of the other announcements were meh honestly. But I am curious to see where we go from here? I do think there's gold to be found here. Obviously Resident Evil: Veronica made me the happiest by a long shot!!!
