I directly wanna talk about the characters from Resident Evil series. I recently gotten the idea to do this particular blog entry. I'm already considering a few more characters. I think all of them going to be interesting in different ways. End of the day, I hope those that read any entries enjoying em. I'm literately putting my heart out there it would mean a lot to me.
Nemesis
Nemesis originally debut in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Ever since then Capcom kept bringing the monster back in some form. Mostly in a few spin off Resident Evil games. Nemesis also appeared in Resident Evil: Apocalypse movie. I know a lot of people are quite familiar with the monster. But a lot of people doesn't properly understand what exactly is Nemesis?
Essentially he's a super soldier for Umbrella Corporation. One of many prototype Tyrant models with a few major changes to the design. Most Tyrant models would have claws while Nemesis had tentacles. Nemesis also was given an additional brain where he receives orders from the corporation. His normal brain is quite intelligent among the infected.
His coat was designed to withstand explosives including rockets. During the Raccoon City incident, Umbrella didn't want any S.T.A.R.S. members in the city to escape. At the time, Jill, Brad and Barry were the only former members in the city. Prior to the events of the game, Umbrella paid off Chief Irons to disband the unit.
In Remake timeline, this concept started with Tyrant-103 aka Mr. X. Who originally was sent to receive any G-Virus samples to eliminating any threats to the corporation. Nemesis also known to wield an rocket launcher. Some versions also wields an Gatling gun which started from Resident Evil: Apocalypse movie. Nemesis is much more than a super zombie.
He is a huge hulking undead super soldier that's committed to complete his mission. People also need to realize half Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was a day prior to Resident Evil 2. The remaining half was after Resident Evil 2. Which means Nemesis was rooming around the city in a few days. Nemesis had a rather complex development history.
What actually started it's creation was a rather unexpected outcome. Two family members of George Trevor were given Progenitor Virus. His wife was given Progenitor Virus Type A that killed her. His daughter Lisa was given Progenitor Virus Type B that lead to mutation. Several aspects of her condition led to many things.
The creation of two particular viruses being T-Virus and G-Virus. This also led to the creation of Tyrants. More importantly, Nemesis took a few test subjects to get completed. After trivial and error they successfully created the monster they designed. Nemesis was the only infected the corporation had constant control over.
Umbrella realized many of it's creations would quickly fall to former S.T.A.R.S. members. They decided to send in Nemesis to stop them from escaping during the incident. They were very desperate to silent them. They were willing to sent in such a monster to terminate them. Basically Nemesis was one of a few creations of theirs that's an Terminator along with T.A.L.O.S. respectively.
Terminators can differ between models. But the more famous models is essentially machines wearing living human flesh. A rather unique take on the cyborg concept. Both Tyrant models had major similarities. T.A.L.O.S. was more unstable mutation forced into a giant mech suit with an even bigger rocket launcher.
Instead of Umbrella giving out orders, they programmed an AI named Red Queen to do that. Red Queen itself can be commanded by the corporation. Both of them were undead monsters that can regenerate. They also can use weapons mostly being an rocket launcher. Easily among the smartest monsters in their respective events.
Most Terminator models follows orders from Skynet or Legion in Terminator: Dark Fate timeline. Which operates similar to T.A.L.O.S. making the comparison more interesting. Nemesis really tried to eliminate Jill Valentine in both versions of Resident Evil 3. Within the franchise started a notable trend in the main series.
Stalking enemies comes after the protagonists at several points. All of that you can thank Nemesis for. Nemesis' failure was a rather difficult pill for the corporation. I should point out there's another Tyrant model that takes orders in Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2. Tyrant-R is a similar model to Tyrant-103 which Nemesis is a spin off of the same Tyrant model.
This model turned against those giving him orders. Later gotten absorbed by an even worst monster. Nemesis also had his entire nerves system removed. This was done to help the monster taking more damage as well as pain to complete his missions. Despite his size, Nemesis is strikingly fast on his feet. No one was more determine to take out Valentine than Nemesis.
Nemesis always meant so much to the franchise. His concept was a rather unique one even for an Resident Evil game with a twist during development. Originally developed as a spin off Resident Evil game. Sony reminded Capcom of a particular deal. Which made Resident Evil Code: Veronica later X version into a canon spin off game.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis taken it's main series spot which pissed Shinji Mikami off. Nemesis was simply ahead of it's time. Now there's a lot of horror game monsters similar to the creature. At the time, having such a monster stalk you often in a video game was mind blowing!!! This concept itself was directly inspired by Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Nemesis was a rather revolutionary concept for a monster in that era. Jill had to explore Raccoon City to survive while being chased often. Just when things weren't bad enough, the United States was planning to nuke Raccoon City. We finally see the ruins of a destroyed city in Resident Evil Requiem. Nemesis brought in an unique challenge with some spots being randomize which enemies could be there.
Yes that does include Nemesis in the RNG of that feature. Nemesis is among the most essential monsters in the franchise. Easily among the scariest Tyrant models without question. Nemesis won't rest until you are dead just like any Terminator models. He stands around eight feet tall you know what's coming your way going to be very unpleasant.
In a way he's like DC's Bane the versions risking overdose with Venom. He essentially is a good mix of brains and brawns. Nemesis is a massive thorn in Valentine's side. Thanks to the creature, Jill became infested by the T-Virus. Carlos whose among the Umbrella mercenaries saved her with an experimental cure.
Indirectly we have two capable people infected with the same virus being more polar opposites than before. Nemesis is at his core Jill's darkness since he's ordered by Umbrella to eliminate her. Valentine with the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members wanted to take down the corporation. In a rather unexpected way does happened shortly after the Russia event.
Nemesis is virtually what if an tank can run, dodge things and quickly attack enemies? Not quite an Metal Gear model that fires nuclear missiles. Nemesis is capable of wiping out most threats with ease. He survived Mikhail that blew up a section of a train. Like most Tyrant models, enough damage will cause him to mutate.
Nemesis will always find a way to find his targets then eliminate them. The fact Umbrella made a monster like this in secret. This bags a lot of questions with not enough answers. Nemesis is a monster that quickly puts terror down your spines. He already looks like he's been through things. I personally did like the surprising DC's Doomsday tribute concept in Resident Evil 3 Remake.
As that version went on, Nemesis was becoming more visible through his outfit kept getting damaged. Which is a tricky concept to pull off. I also do prefer the classic look of the monster a bit more. But the remake appearance isn't bad either. There's just something that special about his classic appearance. Nemesis actually made Tyrants more terrifying speaks volumes!!!
Albert Wesker
Albert Wesker started as an Umbrella researcher. He also was one of two captains among the S.T.A.R.S. units. Following Resident Evil 1 was more directly an operative for a mysterious organization. Above all else is himself as proven in Resident Evil 5. His origin story goes further back as explained by Spencer in Resident Evil 5: Lost Nightmares.
He was among the children they done experiments on. Only two of them survived that ended up with the last name Wesker. Albert and Alex becoming siblings through those experiments. Wesker always believed himself to be superior to everyone. Up to Resident Evil 5, Wesker had some form of involvement to every major incident.
Wesker became Chris Redfield's nemesis before Resident Evil 1 was over. They had a few runs in before their final showdown at a volcano!!! Wesker took majority of the viruses/parasites in the main incidents to create an deadlier virus. The Uroboros Virus has two possible effects on people. The positive effect is you bond successfully with the virus.
The more common effect is negative the infected bodies rejects the virus to become monsters. In either case, this virus instantly kills among infection. Wesker was crazy enough to get a lot of the virus on an aircraft. Then fled to a spot in the sky to get blown up tricking the attackers to releasing the virus world wide. Wesker was willing to cross such lines to get what he wants.
If this had happened, would've been the largest viral outbreak in history. Instead Resident Evil 6 taken that record instead. Wesker strongly believes himself to be a God!!! There isn't any little things he does in the series. Everything he does has major effects on the grand scheme of things. Wesker helped in shutting down Umbrella Corporation.
Being a cold, calculative genius went into hiding. He was the kind of threat some former members of S.T.A.R.S. would drop everything to stop. In all honestly, Wesker actually was that bad!!! Before his human death, he injected himself with an unusual variation of the T-Virus. Which was later revealed to be an unstable variation that required serums to maintain.
This variation was designed by a close friend/co-worker Dr. William Birkin. Who finished the T-Virus after Dr. Marcus' assassination. He was in the process of developing the G-Virus. The one problem is Wesker needed to die to trigger the virus. Being a clever son of a bitch used Tyrant-002 for that purpose. Which also was done to throw some former S.T.A.R.S. members off.
Essentially Wesker is an alternate Tyrant model. He later taken his own virus late into Resident Evil 5. Which notably slowed him down but ended up being notably tougher than before. This also led to Wesker having weak spots that can attacked. Wesker's unique DNA countered most diseases. Which carried over to his son, Jake Muller.
Unfortunately that didn't last long due to Resident Evil Code: Veronica either version. A few months after the Raccoon City incident. I'm rather mixed how the live action Resident Evil stuff portrayed the character. I felt every single one of them I have major issues with. I just can't fully see the character through any of them.
Wesker has a lot of non canon appearances in The Mercenaries as well as Wesker Mode to name a few. He's among the most essential villains prior to Resident Evil 5 in the franchise. The crazy part is some stuff with his family isn't over either. There's still some unfinished businesses to look forward to. Wesker might be dead but the drama only going to get much worst!!!
Wesker is the kind of person you shouldn't trust with your life. He will quickly throw you to the wolves like Excella. Even Jack Krauser realized such a fact to be careful around him. Wesker wants to control the entire world to complete his vision of being a God!!! Chris did make a good point in Resident Evil 5.
Wesker might read comic books to get such ideas from super villains lol. Wesker is a lot of fun in either version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. He is essentially the darkness to Redfield's light. Every good Chris does in some way Wesker answers right back with something terrible. He barely had any humanity before his human death to begin with.
This lead to him becoming an even bigger monster. A rather ambitious mastermind that wouldn't stop until he gets what he wants. Essentially being control over everything. He no longer fears death because he believes himself being beyond such a concept. If this doesn't sound like a rather arrogant person then I don't know what to tell you.
Conclusion
Two iconic Resident Evil villains that fans constantly wants more of. Both were quite revolutionary to video games that's still inspiring a lot of people today. So many horror franchises owes themselves to these Resident Evil characters. In all honestly, both were incredibly well thought out. Both were simply ahead of their time instantly changed the world!!!
