Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009-2010)
Before I can discuss the actual show. It's important I point out a couple shared moments from the original anime show are still presented. A few of those moments were entirely removed that didn't affect the story. The earlier portions up to a point will be faster pacing to quickly get through those moments. There's also a new character that shows up early on created by the author.
Originally with the first anime show, the author allowed the team to change the story. At that time, she still was writing the manga series. Surprisingly it ended up being a lighter series with some dark moments. Close to her finishing up the manga series. She gotten Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime to start in Japan.
The newer FMA anime show was intended to fully cover the entire manga series. Keep in mind, Fullmetal Alchemist was an monthly ran manga series. The author had notably more time to complete chapters for her story. In all honestly, it's a great story she written. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood had a lot more notable characters than the first FMA anime show.
At the same time, majority of those characters were portrayed incredibly well!!! Following most of what was previously shown ends, the overall pacing becomes notably slower. But not too slow to ruin anything major. The Homunculi are the main villain group that differs a lot from the original anime versions. Personally I prefer these versions including the second Greed character more.
The main protagonist is Edward Elric that's searching for a way to fully bring his brother back to normal. His brother Alphonse for majority of the story was an possessed suit of armor. Both gotten training following The Truth penalize the brothers from attempting to revive their deceased mother. Edward himself loss two limbs during the process.
I do like we get to see a few countries. Each one notably differs in how they do things. Edward does become an state alchemist working for Amestris. The story uncovers many deep secrets especially beneath Amestris. The Homunculi are led by an homunculus known as Father. Each member outside him represents a particular sin among the seven deadly sins.
Yes all seven of them were created from his very being. I do love the twist behind Wrath in a few ways. Wrath was originally a capable human warrior that ended up becoming an king of Amestris. Yes I'm talking about Bradley that's among my favorite members. One of his eyes given an philosopher's stone that further enhanced his combat prowess.
In the original FMA anime version, he was Pride recreated from a failed ritual to revive someone. In this version, anyone trying to revive people became targets to a particular ritual. The Homunculi were secretly behind everything over a few centuries. Yes Amestris secretly attempted to recreate the homunculus creating failed pale imitations of their species.
Some might be wondering what is a philosopher's stone right? Basically to create one, you sacrifice a lot of people. Fuse their souls into a philosopher's stone. Which means every homunculus has a lot of human souls inside them. The ritual I mentioned involved people that were marked. Following failed attempts to revive someone with a rather controversial moment.
The homunculus force Colonel Mustang to get the penalty after they perform a similar act against his will. The price to be paid was his eyes since he was the next person in line following Bradley. The moon itself was used as a circle to steal a lot of human souls. This was done for Father to claim God. Yes God gets taken by an homunculus was a scary moment.
Thankfully, Elric brothers' dad had a plan that screw him over using the same circle Father used against him. A lot of those souls returned to their respective bodies. Quickly putting a notable strain on Father that leads to the final battle. Yes there's a lot of death in this anime show. But there's some decent lighter moments as well.
The ending itself was done amazingly well for it's time. I will be very honest there is little to nothing to criticize. In every single category is done to perfection!!! Yes it's a little bit longer than the original FMA anime show. I felt most of the characters that's used in both shows was done better here. Some shared moments differ a little when they happened between the two versions.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood also had a few chimeras. Either as experiments or a particular little girl fused with her dog that had a sad ending. Yes there was a movie that's non canon to the story. But it's still a decent anime movie to watch though. From start to finish you would be pulled in until the show ends.
It's very rare for me to say any show was that great. But in all honestly, anime wise it's still among the best I ever seen!!! Yes I watched this version on Toonami years ago. In a way, it's popularity led to a few remake anime shows or movies mostly Evangelion. There's a lot of complexity with some aspects being much easier to understand.
To me, every single episode felt like great anime movies is a great sign. Everyone involved absolutely nailed this adaptation!!! Yes this is notably darker from the original FMA anime in the later portions. I also preferred overall character designs more in this version as well. I'm talking more about their appearances to clarify.
For me it's a little weird when some parts of characters are colored a little differently. Yes that was a shot at Hellsing Ultimate to the original Hellsing anime show. The same also could be said for both Hunter x Hunter anime shows. Sure this is more of a nip pick thing. Father was a great antagonist for the story.
I took him much more serious than Dante whose the main antagonist in the original FMA anime show. I also noticed both of them had a personal connection to their father. Although in vastly different ways it still was quite interesting to point out. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood barely has any notable filler stuff.
Yes I know some people hated many older anime shows that were filled with filler content. This anime show is among the absolute greatest ever created!!! Fullmetal Alchemist notably differs from many Shonen manga franchises. Yes there's a lot of fights within the manga series. But the overall procession was more story focus than anything else.
It's not often when a notable upgrade in some form happened in Fullmetal Alchemist franchise. Despite some species as well as alchemy itself. Majority of how the world works is a little realistic at best. It's not too realistic to take away from the overall vision. Neither it's too unrealistic to turn people off. I felt the author found the perfect balance for everything.
Yes that was perfectly portrayed in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood show. I should point out in Japan, the series just called Fullmetal Alchemist like the first FMA anime show there. I personally respected they added Brotherhood to the title for overseas versions of the show. Brotherhood easily play out the story following two brothers on a journey to reclaim what was taken from them.
It also was a play on the Homunculi that acted as a secret group behind many tragedies. For me, it was the perfect title for this anime adaptation. On the side, there's a few OVA episodes that covered bonus chapters from the manga that act as side stories. Even these were well animated that followed those bonus chapters perfectly.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a true master piece. This author studied looking up many people's views of alchemy while writing the manga series. Alchemy is a mix of magic with scientist. I know some experts would quickly disagree on that point of view. There's some religion with politics that never over stays it's welcome within the story.
There's so much people still could learn about the franchise simply by watching this anime show. I really felt this absolutely nailed what the franchise is at it's core. Honestly, I can't recommend this anime show enough!!! It's a great story with plenty twists on the way. I do think everyone could find something they like from watching this show.
This anime show is still among the most inspiring I ever seen!!! This is how you make a newer version of a classic but also don't disrespect it at the same time. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood brings in every possible emotions imaginable. Ultimately everything works out in the end despite some horrible things that happened.
Dead by Daylight pitch
I should quickly throw in what my possible licensed chapter pitch for this anime show going to be? Obviously Edward Elric deserves to be the survivor with everything he had endured. The killer could be either Pride or Wrath. I don't think many people would like Father since he taken God in the story. Some might misunderstand thinking he's God out of confusion.
I felt Pride easily could work since he manipulates shadows being a true monster. He also was the oldest of the Homunculi Father created. Wrath aka Bradley would be my other choice. Despite his appearance, he's actually the youngest among the seven excluding second Greed. I do see ways they both could easily change up the game play.
Pride could use areas with lights to reach survivors that's a notable distance away. He also could blend into the shadows to hide from the survivors. Of course, this would be temporary with a short time limit or he'll be force to leave the cover he's hiding from. He also could temporary block some vaulting spots with his shadows.
I would assume his main mori is devouring them. Similar to how he devoured Gluttony. Which added his abilities onto his own further spicing up the game play. Survivors could have a possible smell Pride can easily pick up on. If he can't find you the normal way with the scratches. This would be the next best option to tracking the survivors down.
As for Bradley, they need to heavily play off his Ultimate Eye. Yes it does have a flaw if something blocking his sight. It's possible to attack him for a short period of time. Considering his enhanced stats, Bradley going to be a fast killer. He likely be armed with two swords. But they might allow him to swap out weapons to a degree.
Mostly keep things melee for fairness purposes. I also think he could be given another ability to increase a few possible actions' effectiveness. Like if a survivor about to finish vaulting, he has more time than most killers to hit em. He also would have more time to open them in a few situations as well. Bradley could use his swords to charge through pallets.
I think some of his moris will be direct references to kills he's done on the show. Both of them easily could be given some brutal moris. They were among the highest among the Homunculi in command confirmed in the actual story. If it's obvious by now they simply would be called The Pride and The Wrath respectively.
I would be curious where in the story either of them could be taken from? I would assume Edward before the final battle a huge possibility. I also want some of the characters to be legacy skin cosmetics for several characters. I would appreciate all seven of the homunculus Father created could be in Dead by Daylight.
I do think the demand for this chapter is surprisingly higher than what some people thinks. I recently found out it's among a couple franchises listed in every licenses survey the team ever done. Now that's a testament to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's greatness!!! I would absolutely wanna play as some of these characters in the near future myself.
