There's a lot of rememberable characters being an fighting game franchise. Each one representing a species with their unique styles. Of course, I really gotta mention the amazing soundtracks these fighting games has. Sure some could argue there's a notable light aspects. There are some rather dark stuff in this franchise though even among some of the what if possibilities.
I always felt Darkstalkers walked the perfect middle ground on what's light to what's dark honestly. There's plenty possible locations that could be chosen as a new map for Dead by Daylight. Some of which could tie in more than the team realizes. Considering it is an fighting game franchise, it makes picking an survivor difficult.
I kept coming back to Baby Bonnie Hood. She's an hunter that hunts the other characters. The only real possible issue is if she's old enough to be selected as a survivor. If she's not then I would have to go with Donovan whose an dhampir. Whose accompanied by a little girl named Anita. In a particular Darkstalkers game compilation revealed What If Donovan gave in to the darkness?
Like Baby Bonnie Hood also an hunter targeting evil beings. Although I also would love a possible angle for Jon Talbain to be the survivor. He's the famous werewolf character that's skilled in combat. I do understand they might remove or prevent the character becoming an werewolf. If he were to get chosen as a survivor.
A lot of the other characters differ in power scaling that does reach cosmic levels. Which brings me to my top two choices for the killer. Assuming they wanna do an full chapter route with the franchise. Pyron is an alien that was the original main antagonist of the franchise. He's also the main antagonist in the terrible Darkstalkers cartoon show we don't talk about that!!!
Pyron is essentially a cosmic living flame that does include shape shifting to a degree. Jedah from Vampire Savior 1 aka Darkstalkers 3 is the main antagonist in later portions of the franchise. He's actually one of three demon kings that rules the afterlife. He found Morrigan's missing piece of her soul now going by the name Lilith.
Pyron wants to rule while Jedah attempted to create a new reality in a rather mess up way. The famous stage with a mess up giant baby in the background. Which might've inspired the baby portion of Resident Evil Village. This also could work well as an half chapter. Mostly likely going for the good characters joining the survivors side.
I do think Pyron could differ from Dracula in a few ways within the game play. Jedah could be given projectiles to throw at the survivors. They could recreate some of their moves but in a way that better fits in Dead by Daylight. I do think both could deliver some sick moris. Usually Capcom uses the franchise as cosmetics for several of their franchises over the years.
This by itself could get rather interesting with many possible angles. Darkstalkers easily tie into many aspects of Dead by Daylight. Assuming Capcom goes bigger than expected with this crossover. It may not revive the franchise but there's still some life left to somehow continue forward. Darkstalkers would deliver a lot on the cosmetics alone.
Recently I had a great idea for a possible legacy skin with Bishamon skin for The Oni. Both being wrathful, savage warriors that slaughters their enemies. Both so happen to be wielding swords with the club might get change out for the monk's staff. What really would be awesome is if they choose add in his theme song during using the secondary weapon feature.
I also could see an female survivor dress up as Baby Bonnie Hood during matches. The actual outfits among the characters could add much more than what many people are expecting. Darkstalkers would be a backup plan option if Supernatural or Universal Monsters doesn't happen. Not only that, the lore could be interesting as well.
Darkstalkers having an intro for either chapter design they go with could be amazing!!! Especially if Capcom sent some of their workers over to make sure the animation. Just like those classic horror fighting games from the 90s. For me, this was a huge YES despite some possible issues. Just trying to imagine either Pyron or Jedah meeting with The Entity is interesting in itself.
Darkstalkers may not be a huge fighting game franchise in a few ways. But it's still among the most consistent I ever played!!! I'm always happy to see some of the characters come back in some form. It's a real shame Capcom went big on this franchise in a rather unexpected time. Ever since then they don't bother reviving the franchise for a lot of people that really wants the franchise back including myself.
Sure there's some comical aspects to the animation. In all honestly, some of those coming into Dead by Daylight would be a nice touch. For example, you're waiting to get into a match. Would it be nice if those characters say or do something rather unexpected in a good way? This would be a great reason to go for this fighting game franchise.
I felt there's a little something most people could enjoy about Darkstalkers. I really can't say that about many fighting game franchises either. Darkstalkers would truly bring some stuff surprisingly lacking to a degree in Dead by Daylight. This crossover could led to more future crossovers. Of course, it's success could lead to more Capcom franchises joining the game soon.
Darkstalkers would get a lot of people to play Dead by Daylight. Especially for many people that never thought it could happen for many reasons. Considering they did list the franchise in a very long listing on a survey. Some members of the team must be quite familiar with the franchise. I do hope some of them speaks out supporting this franchise!!!
Don't go in like so many franchises they went for previously when Darkstalkers shows up. No go in expecting a surprisingly great time playing with other people. I always felt that's the true magic of the franchise. There's an uniqueness that easily separated the franchise from other fighting game franchises. Like Vampire Savior with both it's updated versions differs a lot from majority of them.
Like Killer Instinct series, there's a very brief pause when a character loss. Then the match continues with a few notable mechanics that affect the bigger moves. They actually can go all the way to max 99 meters I'm not kidding!!! There's also a secret ending that's removed from Capcom Fighting Collection 1.
Darkstalkers has so many secrets that kept the games interesting. Yes that would involve some of it's secret characters like Shadow & Marionette respectively. Shadow will start with whoever gotten randomly selected. Then when you win, you automatically play as your opponent you defeated. Marionette is more mirror matches for an entire run except bonus matches.
Just imagine if either of those somehow could be recreated in Dead by Daylight? I doubt they would go with Lord Raptor hunting down the survivors lol. Although I could see Capcom making a deal with a band to do a composite crossover look for the character. Possibly Ice Nine Kills who recently done a collaboration with Dead by Daylight who are huge horror fans.
Darkstalkers is underrated for the fighting game genre especially compared against Street Fighter. But it was among the first horror inspired fighting game franchise. Yeah there's a few indie fighting games similar to the franchise to a degree. I do think Capcom could make a lot of money from the right moves with this crossover.
Some cosmetics could be based on Anita. They also could add in voice overs just not sure which direction Capcom would go? I'm assuming they might stick with Japanese. The franchise is a bit weird when it comes to English dub. Some versions has characters not sounding how they suppose. Very true with the cartoon show that even made the most bad ass characters into a joke!!!
I personally would love the train from a stage that's freaky as hell. In some form appear within Dead by Daylight. I should mention there's cosmetics that's small survivors or killers could wore during matches. Some cosmetics also be hanged around hooks. Cosmetics are going to be among it's strongest aspects. I wouldn't went this big with Darkstalkers if I really didn't believe it couldn't do wonders.
Darkstalkers also could bring in those arcade cabinets that's either based on the actual games or characters. Of course, I just referenced Darkstalkers: Resurrection with a lot of it's paid DLC that's virtually character theme arcade cabinets. I really would love to see some of those come into Dead by Daylight as well.
At it's core, everything lines up perfectly with Dead by Daylight. Capcom being on board could do so much for the franchise. In all honestly, if this somehow convinced them to bring back the franchise good I'm glad it happened!!! They also could give weapon cosmetics to the killers that's not licensed. I know that's a bit risky to do but could blow some people's minds if done just right!!!
They also could easily hid in some easter eggs to add more surprising fun. When you aren't playing the game in other modes you still could find some enjoyment. This is exactly why I love this franchise so much!!! Even the little things they do goes a rather long way with people. I also believe Darkstalkers going to easily tie in with the upcoming zombies mode.
Most likely going to add in Lord Raptor as a possible killer. He's also a little weird regarding the first Darkstalkers game region wise. Most characters you play as stays the same which species they are. However in his case, depending on which region version you're playing. Either he is classified as a zombie or as a ghoul.
Officially he's an ghoul within the franchise. He also serves another demon king as shown in one of his endings. Darkstalkers could tie in any mode Dead by Daylight has. I could see them giving Nemesis a Victor skin. They easily could swap out tentacle for Victor shocking people to a degree. The more I'm writing this entry the more I realize how much I truly want this crossover to happen!!!
