Revealing Franchises from Dead by Daylight's new Licenses survey I don't support

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I know I talked a great deal about the franchises I support possibly coming to Dead by Daylight. Recently I had a thought about the flip side of that. I won't sugar coat this some of my choices people may not like. Although I got reasons behind each franchise not getting selected.

To clarify, this isn't me covering all the franchises I didn't pick either. In particular, I will be discussing a couple of franchises that didn't line up with me. I know a lot of these are huge requests from the community. End of the day, we all have different taste in things.

Just like last time I will be covering every franchise in alphabet order. Which worked quite well once again here. I also would be interested in hearing franchises you couldn't support coming to Dead by Daylight. Regardless, it's take to rip off a series of bandages!!!

This won't include all the obvious joke choices in the survey either. I will say I did get a few quick laughs thank you!!! Also for a lot of other franchises I had even fewer close to nothing to say about them.

1. American Horror Story

There used to be a time I easily would've said yes to the franchise coming to the game. Ever since the season finale of Apocalypse season, the show been notably declining. Sure I could see several ways the franchise could fit in. I also would question if American Horror Stories being involve or not? I felt the perfect opportunity to go for it already passed.

American Horror Story was a rather unexpected take on horror anthology shows. Majority of the show took inspiration from terrible stuff that happened in real life. Of course, they had to spice it up with some fictional stuff for good measure. Even for a cosmetics collection I don't think it would do well right now.

2. American Psycho

Here's a particular movie I seen come up often for this game. Not to be confused with Psycho franchise. We have a business man that had such fantasies. I highly doubt the team wanna play on some of those. I will be brutally honest I can't think of a way this could work. Psycho had more to actually work with in comparison.

Also would The Entity be interested in someone who had these fantasies or not? It does bag the question if he would even get chosen or not? I don't even think a possible survivor route could work. The movie is widely known for these sick, twisted fantasies. I felt like they would have to add in something to get it to work I doubt it's possible though.

Update: I am aware there's a sequel called American Psycho II. But it's a rather loose sequel not great that originally wasn't a related movie. I'm very sure majority of people are asking for the original movie. Neither the author of the book or the director of the original movie confirmed. If Patrick Bateman killed anyone or it's all fantasies?

3. Assassin's Creed

I rather was surprised to see Assassin's Creed in the listing. To clarify, it's more of an open world historical action adventure video game franchise. WOW that's quite a mouthful indeed!!! In majority of the games, you play as descendants of classic assassins within history. It's mostly done through digital simulations based on accurate information of those events in history.

I highly doubt a lot of people wanna learn about history. Imagine The Matrix but more about historical events involving assassins. Sure this easily could've worked as a cosmetics collection. Some great choices for the survivors side. But I am struggling to properly imagine how this could work? For me it begs a lot of questions with not enough answers.

4. Candyman

This might turn some people off. I personally felt the perfect opportunity to go for the franchise passed. Not to mention, Tony Todd passed away doesn't make things easier. A lot of people don't want a different Candyman character hunting people. I also gotta mention the racism within the character's origin stories.

Yes I said origin stories because the first three movies changed how they played out. In one version, his soul connected to a small mirror. In another version, his soul is in a portrait of himself. It would bag the question which origin story would the team use? He already has some tough competition with Hellraiser's Pinhead in the game whose also created by the same author Clive Barker.

5. Final Fantasy

This was a particular franchise I literately scratched my head thinking. Final Fantasy really doesn't belong here!!! Look in many aspects, Final Fantasy could bring a lot to the game. The big issue is it's a notably lighter video game franchise with some dark moments. But not dark that's more like actual horror.

Power scaling is going to be a rather tricky one for the team to explain. I question if any of them could get taken by The Entity. Final Fantasy has a few unusual styles among the spin off games. Even considering those further kept leading me to a huge question mark. Final Fantasy simply does not belong in Dead by Daylight!!!

6. Granny

I do know a little about Granny game series. Officially it's three indie horror video games. Parts of the concept could work with Dead by Daylight. I don't know about the constant finding stuff as well as puzzles aspects. You get chased by mostly the elderly around a location. I'm still surprised Granny showed up in the listing in all honestly.

This is sorta like Bedroom from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. But you actually have more freedom to move around. I don't think they could use much from the franchise. There haven't been a game since Granny 3. I just don't see how Granny could work in this game at all. They would have a tricky time attempting to connect the lore into Dead by Daylight with little to go on.

7. I Know What You Did Last Summer

Not sure if this going to be considered a hot take or not I could care less. There's a few similarities to Scream including actress Sarah Michelle Gellar. To me, The Fisherman just wasn't that scary. The character's signature weapon is a huge hook. Some killers are simply scarier with hooks including Hellraiser's Pinhead.

I was even surprised the character showed up in Call of Duty. There's a few survivor choices with one being questionable. A huge spoiler, one of them became a killer in the newest movie. The craziest part is the author of the book of the same name never wanted a horror movie franchise especially slasher style. The franchise also made some questionable choices that weren't successful either.

8. M3GAN

I know for a fact this is going to be a hot take. I always been against M3GAN since the original movie. To me, it's a cheap female knock off of Child's Play remake. Then the second movie completely changed genres. I'm not sure how much of the character counts towards horror? I have slightly more respect for her than Brahms: The Boy II.

She was briefly parodied in the new Scary Movie film. There's also an upcoming spin off movie called Soulm8te. I will be brutally honest I don't see how this franchise could work here. Yes I'm aware the actress for M3GAN's voice is interested in a crossover hell no!!! I personally view the character might work best as a legacy skin of Chucky since both owned by Universal.

9. Obsession

Before I go into why I'm against Obsession doing an crossover with Dead by Daylight. I do have some respect for the horror movie. For an indie horror movie to do this well at the box office is truly amazing. It was a rather unique take on a concept being wishes. It reminded me of a particular episode of Tales from the Crypt show. Where a man gets a potion to make a woman fall in love with him.

Which caused her to become dangerously obsessed about him. Which led to the man's death in both cases. I simply can't get behind any character from this movie to be in Dead by Daylight. I question if The Entity could alter someone being forced to do things because of a wish. I personally don't see any possible way Obsession could work in Dead by Daylight.

10. Poppy Playtime

Another famous mascot indie horror game franchise. There's some aspects I could see tie into Dead by Daylight. To be honest though, I felt a lot of those are quite a stretch. Poppy involves toys that used to be people in a more unexpected weird way from Chucky. The actual look of the franchise might be a little too tricky to tie in with.

Poppy Playtime is heavily about discovering what happened? I felt most of what may appeal to people may not be exactly what the team looking for in a crossover. At best, I could see a possible cosmetics collection. I'm not sure if any of the characters could actually represent both sides in the game. To a degree I could see more ways how Bendy game franchise could work more with Dead by Daylight.

11. Portal

To clarify, this is the famous game franchise from Valve. Previously they done a crossover with Left 4 Dead franchise that's owned by them. I got to be brutally honest I don't see how this could work here? Portal isn't necessary a horror game franchise. It is largely about using portals to solve some rather frustrating puzzles.

Speaking of teleportation, there's a few methods in Dead by Daylight. Including Black Banquet event that's going on right now. I doubt they would give survivors either portal guns. If even if they did that, two of them would need the opposite portal guns to properly teleport between locations. Even considering the famous AI itself I don't think Portal could work in Dead by Daylight at all!!!

12. Splinter Cell

Here's another franchise that can't properly fit into Dead by Daylight. Splinter Cell is a famous stealth action adventure game franchise. For a time was among Metal Gear's greatest rivals. Splinter Cell is notably more realistic to a fault. I could see a possible cosmetics collection. Sam Fisher actually could work as a survivor.

I even question that since he would've faced a huge variety of beings!!! At least, in Lara Croft's defense, she fought more of a variety in comparison. For me this was a huge question mark. Splinter Cell could tie into the stealth trying to sneak past the killers. But in all honestly, that's the one thing it has going for the franchise.

13. Squid Game

I'm not even sure what the reception for this going to be once again I could care less. Squid Game centers around a few hundred people competing for a ridiculous amount of money. At the cost of so many lifes through dangerous takes on kid games. I actually have a lot of problems with this franchise crossing over with Dead by Daylight.

In Dead by Daylight, survivors do die but lose a portion of their soul before getting revived. In Squid Game, you are dead period!!! How many people going to take parts of the concept seriously? Not only that, this would make more sense to appear in actual competition theme video games. Even considering a few categories it could do something for just does not work here!!!

14. Street Fighter

The only Capcom franchise I couldn't sign on for a crossover with Dead by Daylight. Street Fighter easily could've the cosmetics. In all honestly, everything else just doesn't work enough. There's a small variety of beings in Street Fighter to begin with. Even considering the darker Street Fighter stuff isn't dark enough.

I highly doubt they would allow a survivor fight a killer as in a fighting game either. They easily could bring in a map but majority of possible locations isn't compatible enough with Dead by Daylight. Street Fighter has a long notable history with crossovers including Fortnite. But I don't think Capcom would gain much by doing this particular crossover.

15. The Boys

I recently been seeing people requesting The Boys to crossover with Dead by Daylight. I may went with several comic book franchises in the survey. It doesn't mean all of them gets a free pass. The Boys was inspired by both Marvel and DC to a degree that isn't even close to how insane their cosmic scaling!!! I noticed a lot of people wants Homelander to be a killer.

Sure he does meet the requirements to being the killer. At the same time, why no one going for Brightborn instead? Whose also an evil alternative take on the Superman concept in an actual horror movie? I will be honest, I don't think there's much they actually could do with an crossover. The Boys would work best as a cosmetics collection that likely won't be worth the effort to make.

16. The Purge

I'm quite familiar with The Purge franchise. A possible cosmetics collection for The Legion. Among the most realistic franchises in the entire listing. The Purge in all honestly can't work in Dead by Daylight. They would have to break a few key reasons to do just that. More recently, people worried governments might actually do the concept in real life making it quite risky to go for.

Sure there's some notable choices for both sides. But it heavily plays off being political with a twisted take of religion. Two topics that often leaves to unpleasant arguments. Not only that, they would have to increase the amount of players higher than 2v8 mode for this. I highly doubt they allow either side having guns as well as explosives.

The Purge would've forced Dead by Daylight into becoming something it's not. If we get any actual lore going to be a similar situation to Assassin's Creed franchise. The Purge is more of a few genres carefully mixed together. To the point, I actually could question how much of it counts towards being horror? You can tell this was among a huge NO for me.

Conclusion

Some of these quickly makes sense why I can't support them. I know some might disagree with a couple franchises I didn't selected for the survey. I also know everyone having different taste had similar feelings towards other franchises. No I'm calling any of them cowards for not saying anything either. Personally I wanted to share my thoughts on the franchises I really couldn't select for that survey.

Also trying to a couple of them in just like The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror. In particular the most questionable parody stories like The Fat in the Hat largely parodying The Cat in the Hat. I really didn't wanna give myself a head ache trying to bridge those franchises into Dead by Daylight. I just hope you viewed my arguments before you comment either side of the discussion you're on.
