Jujutsu Kaisen I confessed was somewhat decent until late into Shibuya Arc. The following arc started to notably bring it down in a terrible way. Some truly amazingly bad decisions led to such a lackluster conclusion. Too many concepts introduced then dropped afterwards. Not to mention, some of the characters gotten screwed over badly to the point.
I actually loss a lot of respect for the author. A few months before the final arc ended I really was done with the story. The final battle is virtually the author recreating Madara Uchiha taking on everyone concept. Plus some rather annoying bs stuff went his way that doesn't even make sense!!! There also was another final battle separate from this with just two characters fighting the entire time.
Not even once this lady whose Sukuna's ally goes to save him during the final battle. Culling Game Arc is where everything ultimately went straight into the trash. There was little to nothing I liked. My favorite fight within the final two arcs was a joke fight!!! Considering that was meant to be an tournament arc. We don't even know who won it all.
Which made two arcs featuring it suddenly a huge waste of time!!! Jujutsu Kaisen is such a major letdown. I still can't believe this is the most successful out of the Dark Trio in terms of sales. We don't even know what Yuji's Domain Expansion actually is either. The final chapter is mostly a huge waste of time.
Yes there also was an epilogue to further conclude things. Which was somewhat better but it also was kinda meh too. The highlight of it was Nobara confronting her mother. Something she didn't even wanna do in the first place suddenly happens here why? I really could go on about how terrible Jujutsu Kaisen truly is.
For me it deserves to be on the bottom spot. In nearly every possible way the story ruins itself. The author clearly dislikes his own popular characters. You even can see the difference within later chapters having rather inconsistent artwork. If they don't write the final two arcs in the upcoming anime. I strongly felt JJK fans going to be really disappointed as well as angry towards the author.
Hell's Paradise is a worthy runner up in my book. Sure some could criticize stuff like majority of the story taking place on an island. Also how many fights goes within the story some may see as being repetitive. Repetitive didn't you guys see the entire final battle with Sukuna? Now that's what I call repetitive.
I strongly felt every character stands out in their own unique way. Which a way to open a story you really can't forget. The ending is among the best I ever seen in an manga series honestly. It's mind blowing a lot of stuff they allowed into the story. It's quite true to it's name right up to the final chapters.
The artwork is easily the best among them. Hell's Paradise I strongly felt is deeply underrated. You got a story that kept getting more interesting as it went on. This was essentially the mid ground in terms how Shonen stories works. Gabimaru only improves when he needs to. Which does save us the reader time to get right back into the action.
This is also the shortest of the Dark Trio at one hundred twenty seven chapters. Some might criticize the length to a degree. I felt somehow the author justified that length. Hell's Paradise suddenly felt relatable to a degree. There's a character or two you could see yourself in. I actually held this story in such high regards.
Considering what the author sent out to do. They had a rough idea how long they planned to take writing it. Which isn't common to do among manga authors. Some are even lucky they either keep on writing stories or get another series picked up by companies. Death Note had a similar set up with two people working on that story.
I would personally say Hell's Paradise to me was better than Death Note. There's some great twists within the story to keep things interesting. Also considering the author attempted at recreating a particular era in Japan through his story. I felt he truly nailed the theme quite well. I don't have many real criticisms towards Hell's Paradise at all.
Chainsaw Man is virtually as anti-Shonen as inhumanly possible. Currently written into two parts similar to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Both parts with Part 2 in it's final arc are quite amazing. Two truly amazing stories with their own main characters. Chainsaw Man is easily the most disturbing, disgusting, darkest, violent among the Dark Trio.
Occasionally you get some light moments. They are often short lived due to rather mess up situations happening afterwards. At times Chainsaw Man gets so dark it's mind blowing they actually allowed any of this into the story. Let's take Gun Devil Arc for an example. We have a section where a lot of names following their demise by that devil.
Keep in mind, this isn't even a top tier devil officially labeled as Primal Fears. We do actually see some of those devils in action. Nearly every single time puts chills down my spine. The characters ends up being more interesting than you originally expect. It's difficult to predict what's actually going to happen in the story.
Some huge twists that actually fooled a lot of people. Chainsaw Man truly goes the extreme mile in every possible way. Just when you thought you seen it all. Then a lot of stuff that happens within the story. Suddenly you begin to freak out over what's going on!!! You know you're in for a great Chainsaw Man chapter.
It's unknown if the author plans to continue the story into Part 3 or end it with Part 2. What we do know is Chainsaw Man recently seventy one chapters away from Jujutsu Kaisen. I don't think the story going to get that long unless Part 3 happens. Chainsaw Man is filled with moments that's virtually nightmare fuel.
Let's put it this way if this were a horror movie. This could actually be a truly terrifying horror movie at that. Speaking of that, there is an Chainsaw Man movie coming in the near future. This story doesn't shy away from what it actually is. You're getting a mess up story with chaotic heroes. Some truly disturbing villains that may keep you up at night among many other things.
If you read this story you should expect to see stuff that's difficult to look at. Chainsaw Man is taking the most risks by far. There's still people criticizing the story to a degree. I might be one of the select few to truly understand it. Don't expect an pleasant ending but also doesn't expect an rushed one either. I do think the current direction of the story going to truly blow people's minds.
It's possible the world still isn't ready for Chainsaw Man. Considering all three of them started their manga series in 2018. You would think some of us was ready for this!!! There's even moments that might get such raw emotions mostly anger to come out. The big difference between how Chainsaw Man does to Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen didn't consider it's readers with the controversial decisions. Which quickly led to such an backlash on them. In comparison, Chainsaw Man actually considered our emotions into everything. Like what happened to Nayuta really gotten under my skin. Of course what happened to Power upset a lot of people too.
These moves as unpleasant as they seem proves we do care about the story as well as the characters within it. They also served a purpose that led to many things as well. Unlike a lot of similar moments in Jujutsu Kaisen that ultimately didn't at all. Chainsaw Man doesn't hide how ugly people truly can be either.
You could argue between Hell's Paradise and Chainsaw Man. Which nailed that aspect better to a degree. The pacing does differ between the two parts. When it suddenly gets faster in Part 2 it does get quite interesting. It's not pacing but it may take a little time getting use to. I am expecting a truly mind blowing ending for Part 2.
In nearly every aspect imaginable Chainsaw Man is very interesting. Especially after learning some of the franchises that inspired the author into writing Chainsaw Man. Somehow everything about it just works so amazingly well. I strongly felt Chainsaw Man deserves to be the top spot among the Dark Trio.
When you think of the Dark Trio. You would expect a truly darker story. You're getting that in a way the other two series just can't compete with. You also expect something widely different from other Shonen series. This is the least Shonen among the three. Either Denji or Asa doesn't do much to improve themselves.
A lot of people dies within the story rather than being saved. We even get destruction rivaling Godzilla franchise I'm not kidding!!! Chainsaw Man is full blown chaos at it's core I absolutely loved that!!! You get a surprisingly decent horror story that's quite refreshing in many ways. I really couldn't praise this more than I already have neither how others had on the internet.
I definitely need to get into Chainsaw Man and Hell's Paradise. So far, the only one of these three I've even seen is Jujitsu Kaisen and only the first season of it.
ReplyDeleteI do recommend checking both of them out. Manga seems to be the best way to go right now. Chainsaw Man is a story that's truly amazing in what it does. There's a new movie directly following the conclusion of the anime.
