7. X-Men: Children of the Atom (1994)
This was the only game in the entire compilation I never played before. I grew up around the great 90s X-Men cartoon show. It's almost exclusively X-Men characters with the possible exception of the guest character Akuma. Difficulty wise is easily the most unbalanced in the entire collection. Very quickly the appeal to play this goes right out the window.
6. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (1997)
I confessed it does have a few things over X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Mostly the roster with some of my favorite Hyper Combo moves. Most of the hidden characters are altered versions of a few characters you already have. They literately changed so little from X-Men vs. Street Fighter. This game also quickly becomes flat at a fast rate.
5. The Punisher (1993)
I will say this is the best way to play this Punisher game by far. Considering it's the only beat em up game in the collection. The Punisher notably differs from the rest of it with a notably darker tone. They allowed shoot em up sections to a degree. The big issue is the length being a little shorter than expected. Otherwise I prefer this over two games.
4. X-Men vs. Street Fighter (1996)
This is way better than the PS1 port I grew up playing. The original entry in Marvel vs. Capcom series. I felt this was a good start to now such an iconic franchise. It's mostly here due to some of the later entries being way better. It's not a bad fighting game by any means. I personally since it's also labeled as an X-Men fighting game it's the best one I played.
3. Marvel Super Heroes (1995)
Some of the best endings in the collection are presented here. The hidden characters truly steal the show. Sure you could care less about the gems system. I still felt a decent roster for it's time. Way better than Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite someone had to say it. Just disappointed Thanos gotten screwed over once again on his ending situation.
2. Marvel vs. Capcom (1998)
Every port of this I played kept getting better. I was quite excited to play this once again. A truly solid fighting game where the franchise at it's peak. Sure most hidden characters are altered versions of a few characters you already have. At the same time, this game nails everything incredibly well. It's a huge recommendation to play this.
1. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (2000)
A surprise to virtually no one. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is just too great of a fighting game. The tricks alone are enough reason to play this. The ridiculous huge roster adds countless hours of game play. Such an iconic soundtrack that works insanely well. A rememberable final boss that sticks with you. What can I truly say that haven't been said before about this game virtually nothing at all.
Conclusion
Also keep in mind, some of these differ how many characters you play as during matches. We go from one on one matches into two on two matches. Finishing things with three on three matches. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 still the best Marvel vs. Capcom game to date. Personally outside the collection my second favorite entry is Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
This is still a lot of fun compilation game. Even with the drawbacks you aren't missing much. In fact, you nearly have as much of a complete collection as possible. I waited a long time at least since Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins for this!!! Honestly I question if any future Capcom Fighting Collection game capable of topping this for me.
