This is rather ambitious to do. Also kinda fun the more I'm thinking about it. Two great indie games I been enjoying during this month. I actually found both of them quite refreshing for their respective genres. I didn't imagine I would end up having this much fun with both of them either. You just don't know until you play either of these games yourself.
A quick message to DesertFox088, sadly Mullet Madjack isn't on PS consoles. You do have Steam you might enjoy this game. I do actually think you'll enjoy Crime Scene Cleaner more for a few great reasons. Indie games kept getting me excited in recent years. These were games I'm glad I took a chance on. Easily a strong recommend to play both of these amazing indie games.
Mullet Madjack (2025)
Mullet Madjack plays heavily into 90s anime style. You play as a moderator that's live streaming an princess. She's more of a famous streamer with a huge follower count than that. You are getting a strict time limit to get through the levels. Thankfully you can easily add seconds back to that time limit. This forces the player to quickly adapt to situations on the fly.
Usually this style games turns me off. Somehow this actually gotten more very into the experience. You also get a choice of three or four upgrades. You do need to unlock the fourth slot as an upgrade you always have. Every ten floors is a boss fight that isn't being live streamed. You aren't on a timer with notably more health than normal.
Don't expect the bosses going to be that easy either. Some can be rather cheap at times. You also pick up many weapons you can quickly execute enemies with. I simply love kicking off platforms or firing at them to get em shocked. You also get a few similar swords that surprisingly can be thrown. The upgrades can differ in quality but mostly decent stuff.
The audio as a whole is fantastic!!! The sound effects really does it's job here. The levels thankfully aren't that long. Some are slightly longer but that's it. There's a good variety of robots you'll face. You also can do randomized or fixed levels design. Personally some achievements is better with fixed levels.
Randomized does repeat to a degree. Somehow it remains incredibly fun to keep playing the levels. You get such a weird, mess up story. I will confirm the ending isn't where you're expecting it to be. I didn't expect Mullet Madjack to be this much fun!!! The character himself says voice overs with some parodying Duke Nukem.
One of my personal favorite lines is this. "I kick ass and make lollipops!!!" You even can take enemies out during an execution with an manga volume I'm not kidding. You force this into their mouth as you're finishing that. This is obviously an Arcade style FPS game. You can quickly go through vents that acts as short cuts.
Very true when you're desperate low on time. You gotta kill an enemy or you fail. Speaking of failure, die just once on any floor sets. You start that floor set up from the beginning. Thankfully one great upgrade is you decide which upgrade you get to keep. Most firearms can go up to level 3 that truly gets ridiculous.
This is more like Wolfenstein 3D but minus the secrets with more easier to memorize floor designs. There's a few modes with some being unlockables. Achievement/trophy hunting wise it's so much fun!!! You might need to look a few up. Despite that you will get a lot of them in a few hours. Mullet Madjack is a game I can't believe works this incredibly well.
The overall pace felt like people speedrunning 90s FPS games. But that's how you are suppose to play this. Despite that it actually ends up being so much fun. Even if you die a lot you just don't wanna give up. You may feel lucky to get to the next set of floors. Partly it depends on which upgrades you taken. Other times you may not realize some stuff that could've helped a lot.
Let's take this situation for an example. There was this huge jump from an speed wall running thing that's meant to help get you across a huge gap. I kept falling a little short of that. Until I realize I could actually air dash. There's also an double jump upgrade. Excluding that, this air dash guarantees I made it across every time.
Some upgrades doesn't work how you expect them to as well. Very essentially I mention this since a handful were a little unexpected. Some upgrades plays into soda that acts as an health item. Suddenly I wanna see Franky from One Piece in this!!! At random among getting sodas, something cool may happen.
You actually can slip or shoot at soda machines. I think my favorite soda theme upgrade is at random for a short period of time. You get two of the same guns you can fire is pretty sick. My second favorite soda upgrade is soda grenades I'm not kidding. Suddenly enemies could get blown up by soda is hilarious.
Don't tell Kenan and Kel about this. Where's my orange soda at? LOL anyway you can tell this game doesn't quite take itself seriously. You could even say it's self aware it's an video game by some of the dialogue. Some of these surprises starts to freak you out a little bit. This really felt like a true recreation of the 90s in a nut shell.
They even given you a bonus for nut shots. There's even a joke upgrade bonus for that. There's a funny joke weapon being your hand does the gun gestures lol. Following Chapter 8, the rest of it plays incredibly different. Somehow all of this works amazingly well. The driving level ends up being my favorite section in the entire game.
Mullet Madjack is just the right level of ridiculousness in an anime inspired 90s FPS game. This instantly felt like a party I never wanted to leave. This already on GOG, well consider that moved notably higher on my list. I didn't have many real issues with everything considered. The closest issue is why hide the ending like that?
I will confirm how to get the ending. The true ending you have to do well enough in Endless Mode. Yes a variation of the game that's an endurance that slowly reduces your timer. If you do good enough when you die. You'll be awarded a few things including the true ending. This really caught me off guard.
Crime Scene Cleaner (2025)
Crime Scene Cleaner you play as a cleaner that does these messy clean up jobs. Some levels has a lot of bodies laying around. There's a lot of trash you can pick up to quickly bag em up. You also get other equipment expected of a cleaner. There's an upgrade system that may limit your choice to a degree. I still found it a decent upgrade experience.
Mullet Madjack was notably a much faster, unrealistic game. This is the more realistic, slower pace game. At the same time, there's plenty of surprises you can find within the levels. I actually took extra time to finish every level with an 100% completion. Most levels takes you a few hours at best to fully clean up.
There's a story that does get interesting to a degree. The cleaner's daughter in the hospital while you play as her dad trying to raise enough money to save her. This led to suddenly doing clean up jobs for an criminal boss named Big Jim. The closest thing I played to this was Viscera Cleanup Detail series. This is strikingly similar to that series.
I'm not going to call it a rip off. Obviously simulator games will be similar to a degree. I actually felt in a few ways Crime Scene Cleaner done several things better. You can mop up messes mostly blood off places. You play trash as well as bodies onto your truck or into this thing in a few levels. You do get a good variety of locations to explore.
I will confirm the last few levels will truly test your determination. You get to clean up a party that went too wild. Among them was Big Jim's daughter that directly asks for your help through an email. Achievement/trophy hunting wise it's the best game for that experience. You really can take your time going for those during your playthrough.
You got to adapt on the fly in some locations. Especially when you might be forced to get messy before finding an water source you can use. Some of their locations is notably spread out more than you expect. I didn't notice the music that much but I'm sure I'll like parts of the soundtrack if I heard em. I did have some notable issues including a weird item placing glitch.
Let's say I remove a correctly placed object from it's slot. Then I place it back into the same spot. For some weird reason the amount of objects increases. Among the trash you also need to pick up bullets. These can be easy to miss or in some placements trickier to grab. You do get an upgrade to increase trash bags into a bigger one a few times.
There's surprisingly no real fall damage meaning you just live if you fall from high up. Despite those it's still a very realistic game. You have to manual clean your bucket when it's too bloody. If you change it when there's too much blood. Usually a notable bloody mess happens. I figured out a nice trick to prevent this from happening.
You also need to use an sponge. After you clean your mop as well as your sponge. Quickly refill the bucket you'll be fine. If you want tipping the buckets achievement/trophy ignore this tip lol. Some secrets are surprisingly well hidden. You might be more surprised how you get inside a few locations. I didn't even mention your main hub area yet.
Your main hub is your home which I personally liked a lot. You can pet your dog for two achievements/trophies. You also can go into the rooms including the basement. Speaking of the basement, there's a wall with a collection of cassettes. Filling up that collection is another achievement/trophy.
You also can replay levels while not needing to fully replay em for those is a huge plus. Sadly if you're going for the big money achievement, you have to replay em for that. Which I surprisingly didn't do to get the achievement with three other achievements. Among finishing the final level of the game. I mostly played without any guides.
I will confess a handful of stuff mostly achievements related I did look up. Otherwise I was figuring some stuff out faster while others. Well, "It's right there the entire time!!! thing does get a bit annoying. You will need to really pay attention to everything. This greatly helps you to properly the game better. Just take your time for a rather decent experience.
The voice acting is surprisingly decent as well. The graphics looks absolutely amazing!!! The controls takes a little getting use to. You don't wanna rush in this game. The worst the rushing, the bigger the mess going to be. You can easily break stuff adding to the trash amount. Thankfully you can throw trash bags as well as bodies a notable distance.
Crime Scene Cleaner is a game that works incredibly well. It's realistic but in a way that doesn't turn me off. You actually felt like you're the one cleaning up these messes up. I will confirm the ending is a little predictable but in a way you might not see coming. I should also mention a partly discontinued achievement/trophy.
You grab a toaster then throw it into a bathtub thankfully no bodies for the most part with no water. They also hide in some clever pop culture references. Sure you have to go a little out your way to find em. The levels are all a nice size that doesn't feel too small. A handful might feel a little too big for some though.
You also get objectives you can complete. If you fully want an 100% completion. You have to do them all which takes hours to do. At the same time, it's so satisfying you worked so hard for that. This game simply felt like I could relax while playing it. Despite how ridiculous some of these levels are. Crime Scene Cleaner is an fantastic cleaning simulator game.
