Four Scarecrow movies review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I was going to do another longer killer clown movie marathon. It's funny how quickly plans can change. In place of it I ended up watching four Scarecrow horror movies in a row through Tubi. It was nearly 4 in the morning when I finished. A last minute plan I went all in on. For awhile I wanted to watch some Scarecrow horror movies.

Return of the Scarecrow (2017)
Scarecrows of the Third Reich (2018)
Scarecrow County (2019)
American Scarecrow (2020)

I will mostly be discussing all the Scarecrow movies together. But I will make sure to directly point out stuff to help prevent confusion. It shouldn't be a surprise all of them are not great low budget horror movies. Killer Scarecrows notably change in many ways. Some parts of the story either missing or not important enough to show.

Obviously expect bad acting as well as some questionable editing. Some kills coming out much worst than they planned. Stories you ultimately won't care much for. Even if you did just doesn't deliver on the endings. Not to mention, several stuff doesn't get explained either. If you can accept all of that maybe you'll find some enjoyment here.

American Scarecrow it was later revealed to be a person dressed up as a scarecrow. Most of these movies has actual killer scarecrows in em. I felt Scarecrows of the Third Reich had the most amateur camera style by far. I felt Scarecrow County had the worst ending that's confusing or simply don't make sense. Then again it's killer Scarecrow almost came off like Secret Window.

Considering Secret Window had a garden I'm comparing it. Amazingly they went about the concept vastly different. Scarecrows of the Third Reich has Nazi Scarecrows. I guess there's an Nazi version of anything. Return of the Scarecrow technically has the best story. At the same time, it also taken the concept the least seriously.

Parts of the movie almost came off like Scooby-Doo. American Scarecrow almost felt like Friday the 13th minus some aspects you would expect. The way this Scarecrow hunts people down almost like Jason to a degree. Return of the Scarecrow ended up having my favorite killer Scarecrow out of these movies. He had to put up with a moron for hours.

There's a scary story that gets a few versions told within the movie. Sadly due to spending a lot of the movie with that guy. We don't get a lot more kills that could've helped the movie more. There's a big kill scene if you wanna consider it that. I should point out Scarecrows of the Third Reich also has werewolves.

It's a real shame we never fully see an transformed werewolf in the movie. Scarecrow County is somewhat true taking place in a county. The movie mostly focuses on two sisters. The entire ending portion destroyed any real chance it had left. Scarecrows of the Third Reich is the most cheesy out of all these Scarecrow movies.

This also had the most killer Scarecrows too. They were accompanied by a few Nazis. It's ridiculous one of them didn't know World War 2 been over for several decades. All of a sudden, the movie no longer matters. I also notice some characters talking a bit tricky to hear at times. Especially one of the werewolves in the movie.

All of them has characters you won't care for. Slightly more you're happy ends up dead too. I had slightly more characters I liked in Return of the Scarecrow honestly. I guess it's been awhile since I watched a horror movie with scarecrows. I just felt the sudden cold breeze was somewhat fitting for the theme.

Just to be clear I can't recommend any of these Scarecrow movies. None of them compares to the scarecrow portion of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Now that's how you make scarecrows scary!!! Don't worry I'll do a quick rank. The other ranking would've had all of them in C. They are lucky to not be D though.

4. Scarecrows of the Third Reich
3. Scarecrow County
2. American Scarecrow
1. Return of the Scarecrow

Keep in mind I randomly selected these Scarecrow movies. I didn't realize they lined up from 2017 to 2020. Eventually I'll find some decent Scarecrow horror movies. Luckily you can watch them all free on Tubi. If you had to watch just one of these. Return of the Scarecrow gets my vote. There's enough stuff to make it stand out in ways you wouldn't expect.

It's a comedy horror movie that could come off it's so bad it's so good thing. I felt some of the characters works a little better than expected. Don't go in expecting a huge body count or some great kills. The movie disappoints in both ways. But you get an amazing presentation for a scary story. This killer Scarecrow simply works better than most of them honestly.
