Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, this was the big one I planned while on vacation. I gave a major hint what I was planning before I left. I would be surprise if someone figured it out. I don't see many people comparing Puppet Master: The Game and Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game. To me, they're both quite decent license multiplayer horror games.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space movie came out 1988 with the original Puppet Master a year later. You also can play both these games on Steam. I will try to not go longer than necessary with this comparison. I do think they got stuff over each other making this way more interesting. I'm already excited to write all of this.
Officially Puppet Master has more modes that alters the amount of players. You even have an offline mode excluding the human characters. The maximum amount of players is in Puppet Wars. You have four players on any faction not humans against another faction that's also not humans. This is honestly one of the most fun multiplayer modes I ever played.
Eight people in one match with both sides being able to respawn with the option to change out characters. Killer Klowns has 3v7 matches that's ten people in one match. It's easier to get into matches for Killer Klowns. Sometimes that works against it like when you're in a match almost over. Both games has time limits in most modes.
They also got a lot of cosmetics that's surprisingly done differently. Both games has paid dlc cosmetics. How you get the other cosmetics is vastly different. In Puppet Master, you earn points during matches. If you got enough points you can buy character and weapons skins respectively. In Killer Klowns, you must do challenges to unlock stuff.
I was kinda stupid to not realize there was actually more of a selection for them. It turns out there's several variations of each cosmetic you get in the game. Which means Killer Klowns got a lot of them despite lowing much less in comparison. Another interesting factor is Killer Klowns allows both sides to gender swap.
I like this idea because you can create entirely new characters the way you want. Right now, I prefer most faction skins than Killer Klowns. Considering Puppet Master has more modes. Mostly you are fighting other factions with additional rules. Like there's a mode one faction protects an human. The other faction is sent out to kill em.
Single Player mode, in most maps you can earn files from doing tasks. The new map lacks files but I recommend playing it. There's no question, you get weapons on every side. In both games, humans must search for people to protect themselves. It's rare when I say it's fun to be an human character in these style games.
Klowns has several variations of their cotton candy ray guns. They also have other weapons that differ more in types. They only use two weapons during matches. However they also got abilities as well as klowntalities. I realized while on vacation I misspelled that. I didn't know prior there's a t in that word. Like Friday the 13th: The Game, Klowns has up to four finishers.
They do have the option to kill humans off from using weapons. This is important because most factions except humans has a finisher. Blade currently the only character with two executions. It does depend what you have able on him. I felt characters in Puppet Master plays vastly different from Killer Klowns.
In both games, an human player it doesn't matter AI or an actual person must be downed. In order to finish them off in matches. You don't have that option against other factions though. In fact, don't expect mercy facing em. In both games, all sides can gang up on each other. I felt both games are better balanced than Dead by Daylight.
There's more attack variety to help spice up the game play. Puppet Master does have a match type someone plays an human. They must collect particular items then escape. Killer Klowns does this with more options to escape. It's vastly similar to F13 game in that regard. Klowns mostly has to take out the humans.
Klowns can use their cocoon ray guns to prevent most escape methods. The only escape method if it shows up they can't prevent occurs very late in matches with the ice cream truck. The only way to prevent it is by causing an early klownpcalypse to happen. To do that, every cocoon generators must have four cocoons each within the time limit.
It almost doesn't matter which you earn points regardless. They can cocoon humans then place them on cocoon generators. They also have the option to kill em too. Two slots for abilities locked for Klowns but those are helpful. The final slot you can choose whatever you want. My two favorites is Invisible Car and Pizza Box respectively.
Obviously the maps are much bigger in Killer Klowns. Also they got five maps compared to Puppet Master's four maps. I mostly enjoyed majority of their maps. I should point out you can do Private Matches in Killer Klowns. Without other players, you have to play as an Klown. In both games, you have the option to select which side or random.
This isn't an option in public matches for Killer Klowns though. Like F13 game, you get randomly selected a side for matches. There's more depth to character builds in Puppet Master. Along with all the characters as well as cosmetics. You also have perks you can use points to get. You can get rid of them if you need to.
Some perks are character exclusive but the game seems to allow em for some reason. Both games has voice chat with Killer Klowns being similar to F13 game with proximity chat. The closer a player is to you, the more you can hear em. This isn't an issue in Puppet Master. Both do a great job recreating their source material in a video game.
Of course, they also have their theme songs too. I previously made a mistake about Killer Klowns not having that. It turns out in a few ways, the theme song is heavily presented in the game. Even the ending credits has that. One weird thing if you preordered the Deluxe Edition for Killer Klowns. Both digital soundtrack and artbook you need your cell phones with an app to get.
Keep in mind, looking up the actual deal there's no mention of this anywhere. I do like having those on the go though. I also need to point something else out regarding matches in Killer Klowns. Klowns can respawn in matches while humans need to activate a particular machine. When it's activated, there's no more respawns for them.
I do like this since there's a little over double amount of humans to the Klowns. You also can break down doors in both games, Puppet Master requires more effort. Humans can vault to help during chases in Killer Klowns. I felt gun wise human wise is in Puppet Master hands down. I usually go with melee in both games.
In Puppet Master, melee weapons doesn't break. In Killer Klowns, melee weapons does break with each having different usage meter. You also have throwing weapons that stuns Klowns for a few seconds. Humans also get an Air Horn for the same purpose. The closest you'll get to that in Puppet Master is Pinhead throwing a brick at an human or another faction character.
You really felt like these characters during the game play. They pulled some human characters from the movies in both games. Mostly you got non human characters that's a lot of fun to play as. Achievement hunting wise you may need the community to help somewhat. I honestly had a lot of them doing it for both these amazing games.
It's no secret with the 2024 games I played so far this year. I know we're half way through right now. Both of them are already at the top of the list. For me, it's really difficult to pick which one I prefer playing over the other. Not because regardless which side I pick the other side won't be happy about it. No because I'm possibly pulling hairs to decide which is the better multiplayer horror game.
Technically Puppet Master been in development a lot longer. It's a more better programmed game from the bugs. You really getting fan service with everything coming to it. I also like you can swap out characters in most modes if you aren't an human. I confess Killer Klowns does looks better. I felt Private Matches by myself is just more exciting than Single Player in Puppet Master.
Not to say it's boring, it's not by any means. The maps are very faithful to the source material. Another advantage Puppet Master is it's a free game. Let's be honest, not many people are into these style movies. The community is very loyal to this game though. I also like Killer Klowns community too. I'm in both their discord servers.
Killer Klowns has better human game play I felt. To me you had more options to deal with the increase amount of possibilities within matches. Another annoying thing is in Puppet Master, you can be killed while performing an execution to prevent it. Killer Klowns this would be more of you carrying someone in a cocoon to suddenly get attacked by another human.
Right now I strongly felt Puppet Master has better paid cosmetics. It's actually stuff you want in the game. Not to insult what Killer Klowns has so far. I do like those sinister looking Klown skins. I also felt humans got better cosmetics in comparison too. At this moment, I have slightly more reasons to go with Puppet Master.
Puppet Master seems the better balance of the two games. You get more of a complete overall experience with it. There's more modes to play. To me, better overall cosmetics including those you pay for. More unique game play on the factions. More in depth character builds helps too. The better programmed multiplayer game with bugs not as bad as Killer Klowns.
There's also the fact Killer Klowns by itself costs forty dollars. Puppet Master is free by default. Sure, Killer Klowns is on more platforms with Crossplay. Puppet Master also has a better voice chat system. Not only that, executions are simply better too. More variety of abilities to work with among the factions.
