Fangoria Chainsaw Awards 2024 Best Game Award upset

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I did vote in every category except submit in a kill award. I didn't even knew that existed at the time of voting. Fangoria Chainsaw Awards been going on since early 90s. More recently, they chosen to exclusively stream their award shows on Shudder. This year they introduced a new award to officially bring in horror video games.

I confess I'm still quite angry over which game won that award. I already let my anger go on Best Series Award. Which went to The Last of Us show, I voted for Chucky show myself. I realized shortly following the voting, it had a high chance at winning that award. I only gotten so anger due to a month prior Chucky show got canceled.

For me to properly explain exactly how I'm feeling. I should break it all down, I'm sure I'm not the only person unhappy over this either. To me it sorta came off being rigged long story. Now Halloween is tomorrow, more positive blog entries at that. I really wanted to get this off my shoulders before then. I will reveal the choices for this particular award down below...

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (winner)
Alan Wake 2
Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game
Dead Space Remake
Resident Evil 4 Remake (My vote)

First problem I had with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's victory is well look at that lineup!!! How did this horror multiplayer game beat out such modern classics as Resident Evil 4 Remake? Not to mention, a different team had to take over development for that game too. Chainsaw or not, I never saw what's so great about that game.

Yes I did give it a try back when it were on Game Pass. It's technically a little better than Friday the 13th: The Game. At the same time, I really do prefer playing Resident Evil: Resistance, Puppet Master: The Game and Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game respectively. I also wanna point out they had a strict keep things within the original film deal.

Which further bags the question how did it win this award? Obviously being an horror multiplayer game you may need subscription services or not to play it. A lot of DLCs with no real sign of them. This was before Killer Klowns changed how you buy their DLCs too. Also before Tom Savini and Elvira came to the game as well.

When I voted I strongly felt there's virtually no way The Texas Chain Saw Massacre going to win. Especially against some truly amazing horror games. An friend told me with high praise how great Dead Space Remake was. The same friend along with myself really enjoyed Resident Evil 4 Remake. A remake that's superior to the original game in every possible way imaginable.

Which was a pretty impressive feat at that. He felt the same way about Dead Space Remake too. I don't have much to go on Alan Wake 2. Other than it recently gotten a new DLC not long ago. I did previously heard it's a well received horror game. Some even say it's better than the original. I know some are rather mixed when it comes to Killer Klowns.

In some ways we're getting more notable fan service with that. More Klowns we seen from the movie are in the game. Savini made some truly sick Klown characters you can play as. Klowntalities brings in creativity to a degree. The new map that came yesterday already my favorite map by far in that game. Killer Klowns I knew was going to be the underdog in that poll.

Personally I never gave up on it. I do think Killer Klowns simply a more refreshing take on the genre. It's kinda amusing I felt very positive about four of these games. Yet the one game I didn't like won is mind blowing to me. I wouldn't be surprise some voters mistaken the game for the original movie. Which indirectly could explain why it won the voting.

Although how confuse you do that here? You are playing characters on both sides including Leatherface. I really wish it wasn't force someone has to play as him in every match. Not only that, you simply watch the original movie in comparison. Regardless, I know some won't like me saying this. I really don't see how it was better or at least more enjoyable than these horror games!!!

Usually I get one or two these awards in any award shows I voted in that wins. To my surprise majority of those winning votes went towards Evil Dead Rise. Therefore, a couple of those awards I voted to give em. Just to clarify it wasn't all bad. I would be willing to hear someone that believes The Texas Chain Saw deserves the win out.

Just don't be surprise I may come off bias over it. Resident Evil 4 Remake in particular, one of the finest video games I ever played!!! I always been loyal to Resident Evil for a long time. In fact, during the voting as soon as I saw it. I instantly voted for that game, it left quite an impact on me. I already decided I don't plan to vote in any award shows again or blog entries like this could happen again.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in my mind haven't done anything to deserve that award. It's hard to justify an horror multiplayer game by default for that. Other than you can play on either side with your family and friends. Sure that can be used against Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game too. In it's defense that game got a few things over it.

For starters, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre already a household name. Most horror fans knows about that franchise. In comparison, not many people knew about Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Which also helped the announcement of it's game had a bigger impact. Also I can play by myself against bots in that.

There's also a more in depth customization for both sides. I also can select up to a few ways to kill someone by default similar to Friday the 13th: The Game. Customization also a notable part in Resident Evil 4 Remake as well. Multiplayer wise, everyone can't share the same experience. Either you get good or bad matches depending on several factors.

Three of these horror games are single player. Which means any content they have is more constant than those within horror multiplayer games. Leatherface doesn't stand out much either. I kinda felt he was better in Dead by Daylight. He's even more fun to play as in Mortal Kombat X, an fighting game. Of course, Leatherface also in Terrordrome: Rise of the Boogeymen too.

Another major issue I have applies to both horror multiplayer games. There isn't a big deal to fully include everything. But in their defense, they still coming out with more DLCs. Killer Klowns does add some cool free stuff including the new map I already mentioned. Sometimes it's the little things that lefts the biggest impact.

Some could say I really overrated over this. I was quite angry over this the night of the awards show. I still haven't left that anger go. I know by now it's over there's nothing I can do to change the outcome. I get all of that, I do truthfully. It still doesn't change how I felt over that. It's kinda annoying as hell knowing an unworthy horror game won that award.

Also getting removed from Game Pass it took a major hit in it's player base. Which happened a few months ago that further makes me question things. I already see it being an overrated horror multiplayer game. Despite that reputation there was no real reason it had the votes to win against those games!!! End of the day I'm just glad I finally made it known publicly I'm not happy about this.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre isn't among my favorite slasher franchises either. I never was a fan of Leatherface myself. I only liked an handful of these movies with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 being my favorite. I felt F13 game better used Jason in comparison. Even Klowns were done better in their own game!!!

It's also hard to justify a game that barely has much outside online matches. Another major reason I question it's victory. Most of these games offers plenty in the game play department. Some even has rather cool surprises too. Let's be honest, there's virtually no way I was going to vote for this. Even if the other four games I disliked more than that.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to me was a flawed experience. Supposedly parts of it is a little better. I already left the game behind, I just wasn't sold on staying or giving it another chance. Even the kills I kinda wanted more than what was done. Sure, they are much more violent as well as bloody as klowntailities in Killer Klowns.

If you aren't use to the game you would be lucky to even find anyone killer wise. Survivor wise, you likely going to keep getting loss mostly in the basement. The game for me is a little too realistic for my taste. I prefer a more fantasy yet pretty violent game myself. In all honestly, this game didn't leave much of an impression with some questionable choices.

This game like Killer Klowns lucky to have Crossplay or it would've been even more dead right now. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre quickly felt over priced that doesn't do much to justify it's cost. Now I know some of these games are very expensive including Resident Evil 4 Remake. At the same time, it's safe to say those games better justify their worth.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is a truly impressive game. They even made Separate Ways, one of the greatest secondary campaigns within the franchise to date. Even Dead Space Remake that's notably inspired by RE4 classic left a major impact on the gaming community. I will confess this though if Dead Space Remake would've won instead.

I actually would've accepted that, it would've deserve the award. Probably the only game in the lineup that had a chance at beating Resident Evil 4 Remake honestly. I would've been happy if Killer Klowns taken that award as well. I'm not sure where I stand if Alan Wake 2 had won though. As previously stated I know little to nothing about it.

I also do know Alan an DLC character in Dead by Daylight. Obviously Alan Wake 2 had to been a huge deal for that to happen. Killer Klowns was the most unexpected to be nominated. Considering it literately got in the last month of the nominating process. I do felt a little sorry I couldn't give that my vote.

Killer Klowns also has tapes you can listen to. Which reveals more of the lore for that game. Yes you can even find em in custom matches. Killer Klowns has more players than The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in match structure wise. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has three killers taking on four survivors.

Killer Klowns doesn't up the numbers of killers. But they are given lackeys that helps a few ways. The amount of survivors is increased to seven making things more interesting. Personally I found matches in Killer Klowns from what I played of both games to be more balanced. I could go on and on why I'm not happy with this.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre didn't win because Fangoria Chainsaw Awards' name. It also doesn't deserve Dead Meat's golden chainsaw award either. Considering they were involved with the awards show I can say that. I just hope people can see my view on this. Rigged or not, this game doesn't deserve to won that award at all!!!
