I should discuss how much this Sega compilation game meant to me. Of course, this isn't going to be easy to write. Sega Genesis is still among my favorite cartridge based game consoles. My favorite overall Sega game console for that matter with Sega Dreamcast being a close second. Depending on versions you either have fifty three in most versions or fifty eight games regarding the Steam version.
The Steam version made every Genesis game available in a bundle. But you also had the option to buy em separately like Capcom Arcade Stadium series on every platform. Personally a great solid lineup of Genesis games. Even better than Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. This represented a huge variety of game genres.
Majority of these classic video games held up amazingly well. The sudden delisting of this Sega compilation game made a lot of Sega fans upset. I'll be brutally honest I hate the direction they're going in right now. They are moving away from the classics. They also favoring the usage of AI in video games. Which I felt is quite disrespectful to many classics they owned.
They just started to ruin Like a Dragon series with AI. All of a sudden delisting that collection leading to their downfall. Sega Genesis Classics is much more than it appears to be. For me, plenty of great memories. The overall emulation is very solid for this many video games. I would even dare to say the Greatest Sega Game I ever played!!!
Sonic 2 on Sega Genesis my all time favorite Sega game included. Sega selling out hard with Sonic which is 50/50 with me. Some of it I'm quite happy to see. Then there's questionable stuff like crossing over with Godzila? Yeah this happened as a event in Sonic Rumble. This represents an era Sega used to make great video games.
Also making a few decent game consoles. The delisting of that collections spills on all of that!!! Sega Genesis Classics always meant a great deal to me. Easily among the most replayable compilation games I ever played!!! The compilation goes from 1989 up to 1997. Which was essentially it's entire console run. Before console runs started to get quite long.
Sega Genesis Classics also represents exactly what people used to love about Sega. Sadly no longer the case with their recent changes. I'm happy more games off that console gets ported. Despite some of those being questionable decisions like Sword of Sodan in Beat 'Em Up Collection. I may announce this here along with Bandai Namco.
I am effectively going to no longer buy from both those game companies anymore. I am done with both of their aggressive, greedy tactics. This also means I'm no longer interested into buying Tekken 8. Especially what I heard about it's famous Season 2 situation. I know I'm getting a little off track here. Honestly Sega would have to do a lot to convince me to come back or I'm staying gone.
This collection has something for everyone. It may not quite gotten the golden standard for compilation games. It does come surprisingly close though in many ways. It's a truly fun collection of classic video games. It also represents an era filled with creativity. Good luck trying to find something like Comix Zone or Gunstar Heroes!!!
Seriously Gunstar Heroes is absolutely amazing video game!!! I already decided what my final Sega purchase going to be officially. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance with everything. After I bought that I'm done with Sega period!!! Shinobi 3 is another truly fantastic video game. I know some might view this being greatly blown out of proportions.
Personally what The Indie Game Awards done with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 virtually that at it's core. No this was a huge, unpleasant message from Sega. They no longer represent majority of their fan base. They want to go the cheaper, sell out routes. Rather than taking more time possibly little to no AI with more actual completed video games.
Sega became desperate as well as greedy for all the worst reasons. Honestly, it's quite upsetting they don't wanna represent the classics anymore. I felt they should've been more about those than anything else. Not to mention, bringing back some classic franchises suddenly doesn't make sense. Sega suddenly became like Nintendo something I never wanted to convince publicly.
Nintendo themselves isn't hiding how greedy they truly are with Switch 2. At this point, the only AAA company I respect is Capcom. I do wanna get more into indie gaming. I'm always keeping a close eye for compilation games. I still believe a lot of older video games better than a lot of newer video games. It's mind blowing the AAA game companies are incredibly dense about their situations.
Honestly, Sega is no longer the game company that's gotten me into gaming. It greatly pains me to say this is the beginning of my good bye to the company. The final good bye will be among buying that Shinobi game. Obviously I'm filled with a lot of emotions. I'm thankful I can still play Sega Genesis Classics across two platforms.
What truly sucks is Sega with their current route. Likely won't put this compilation game onto GOG. If they wanna start winning people back. Stuff like that would be greatly appreciated. Sega Genesis Classics represents so much what used to be great about so many things. I believe we're currently in the era reliving the 90s thing.
Essentially my child hood a bit weird I know. Honestly, it's a rather unforgettable act by Sega to delist that compilation game. I really wish Sega would actually listen to their fans about such matters. It's a massive disappointment everything they done since then. They gotten lucky with some Sonic stuff though.
Despite that, I think indie developers is the future of gaming. Retro compilation games is another possible route I'll quickly jump on. Especially getting introduce to platforms I never played before. I know this turned into another video game rant. Sonic is somehow keeping Sega around. It's painful that Sonic movies might be what's left I actually liked.
Those were great Sonic movies I deeply enjoyed. I really wish things was vastly different than it actually is. Sega clearly doesn't care about it's fans anymore. They even done that with Yakuza 3 was proof of that. Sega recently joined a long list of companies I won't buy from. But officially it'll be on that list after buying Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.
I know this had a lot of thought put into it. I really can't believe Sega has fallen this much!!! Delisting Sega Genesis Classics is like you're trying to steer the Titantic after it hit the iceburg!!! I apologize to use an horrible incident as an example. Where everything stands I'm beyond done with Sega. I am only going to support Sonic movie franchise from this point on.
