Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (2025) review

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I finally gotten to play Capcom Fighting Collection 2. Honestly this is among the best fighting compilation games I ever played!!! Well it should be since it's in a great series all about bringing back the fighting game classics. Easily among my favorite 2025 games by far.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (2025)

1. Power Stone
2. Power Stone 2
3. Capcom vs. SNK
4. Capcom vs. SNK 2
5. Plasma Sword
6. Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper
7. Project Justice
8. Capcom Fighting Evolution

This is a direct follow up to Capcom Fighting Collection. Despite Capcom Fighting Evolution in the lineup. Majority of these fighting games are great!!! Half the collection presents 2D fighting games with the other half representing 3D fighting games. This also means it's among the most ambitious overall emulation in the series.

I didn't expect all of them to play differently enough to truly stand out more. The previous two entries were much similar in comparison. It's a little weird we get sequels without their prequels. Although I don't think it affect things much. I already fully achievement hunted the game before my review.

I really couldn't stop playing it truthfully. The overall emulation was truly solid. I would even say better than Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2. Which had mostly PS1 and PS2 entries of that series. I also didn't expect Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper to have a few hidden modes. Yes you have to input codes to trigger these modes.

You even have Final Battle mode that directly takes you to the final boss. They even added in four characters pulled from a different version of Alpha 3. All of them were added in free through an update. I would say easily some of my favorite games so far in the series. Don't worry I'll confirm my favorites. Capcom Fighting Evolution is just sad in comparison.

There's a great YouTube video that goes into details about it. They originally had a more ambitious concept. Of course they had development problems. Eventually Capcom gave em a difficult decision. Either cancel the game or release it as is? The later ended up happened the game wasn't well received. Essentially the final version of the game is a poorly, rushed crossover fighting game.

Considering the awesome crossover fighting games in the previous entries. This one is easily the most forgettable. Even with it's one true high light being able to play as two previously unplayable bosses. The overall art design isn't constant at all. They didn't get to properly balance all the different fighting systems.

Which means some of them are more overwhelming possibly broken. Even the music isn't much to write home about. Usually they have some amazing songs in their fighting games. The one thing I did ended up liking was each ending was done through a comic style. It might not be much but still something somewhat interesting.

Let's not even compare this to both Capcom vs. SNK games either. I can promise you accepting this in the collection. The rest of the lineup really made up for it. I even felt some aspects is a little better than the previous entries. This possibly is preference above everything else. I love we get more notable variety of game play styles.

Plasma Sword is an futuristic possibly Star Wars inspired weapon based fighting game. I grew up with some of those myself. Easily among my favorite style for sure. Power Stone series are arena style fighting games. Not to be confused with platform fighting games like Super Smash Brothers series. I notice one major difference.

For platform fighters you either gotta send your opponents flying or make em fall off. But you gotta beat em up fully for arena fighters. I would surprised how strikingly similar those two styles were. Power Stone series also allows you to get into vehicles or turrets. Some of the most ambitious bosses in the compilation as well.

Some of them does team styles a bit differently. Project Justice is similar to Marvel vs. Capcom series to a degree. I never seen Street Fighter Alpha 3 play this good. Yes I do own it in a few other Capcom compilation games. But this was the later Upper version. I loved some of the games weren't released to consoles or outside Japan before.

I felt this was way better than Hyper Street Fighter II. Capcom vs. SNK series is truly fantastic stuff. There's a huge variety of characters across all the games. You are going to be spending hours playing these. I just love this Capcom compilation series is very constant across the board. Just like M2 was with three Castlevania compilation games.

Don't expect some of these games to have endings. Although there's a lot of story presented. The game play as a whole is among the most mind blowing for this series. There's so much insane level of depth with replayability. I haven't tried online matches then again that never was the point of me playing this. No I simply wanted to get more into Capcom.

I so happen to enjoy fighting games to a degree. Thanks to this series I have a very clear idea which fighting game series I love the most? I never had any notable input issues. They absolutely nailed this compilation indeed. It's true I may not get as previously hyped. I do wanna play any newer entries if they come out.

I fully achievement hunt the Capcom Fighting Collection trilogy. Three truly fantastic fighting compilation games. If I had to pick my top 3 favorites though. Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Project Justice and my favorite by far Capcom vs. SNK 2 respectively. All three of these fighting games were very great.

Alpha 3 Upper is easily among my favorite SF games I ever played!!! Project Justice gotten me interested to playing Rival Schools. Capcom vs. SNK 2 is among their greatest crossover fighting games. Not just that also among their greatest fighting games period. Some major improvements over the original Capcom vs. SNK.

I would say the roster by itself speaks volumes to it's greatness. We have two of the biggest fighting game companies of that era came together. This was the next big crossover fighting game after Marvel vs. Capcom 2. This one was a true master piece. Project Justice felt like an anime fighting game. The way everything was I absolutely loved with a huge passion.

It may not helped I finally bought JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R in the same purchase. I didn't expect the characters to be this unique. This also had a lot of story within it's story mode. The animations were among my favorites within the compilation. The entire package is a home run!!! I really can't criticize much.

I know previously I already given this the golden standard for compilation games. You can bet it truly earned that in record time. I actually felt this surprisingly was the best entry so far. No really even with Capcom Fighting Evolution. All the remaining fighting games were really fun to replay. Each one had their own secrets that kept things interesting.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 felt just right. I voted for it in two game awards regarding Best Fighting Game award. It may loss to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves at The Game Awards. It has one more round at Grand Game awards this Friday. Considering two lackluster licensed anime fighting games nominated. Being Bleach and Hunter x Hunter respectively.

It's very obvious between the two decent fighting games. Some of my favorite stages yet also presented here. Most of the songs were very timeless quality. This is exactly how a sequel even if it's a fighting compilation series should be. All three of them kept my standards being quite high. Honestly, I highly recommend checking out this collection soon.

Ranking following down below...

8. Capcom Fighting Evolution
7. Power Stone
6. Plasma Sword
5. Capcom vs. SNK
4. Power Stone 2
3. Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper
2. Project Justice
1. Capcom vs. SNK 2
