The Toxic Avenger (2025 version)

Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, I finally got to see the new Toxie movie. Don't worry this won't be an negative review. Quite the opposite in fact I'm very happy with the movie. I do see a new beginning to such a mess up superhero franchise. Lloyd Kaufman passed the torch to the director of this movie. I can promise you this is very true to the source material.

The Toxic Avenger (2025 version)

The movie centers on a dying dad. All chips were down things kept getting worst. He's been trying to take care of his son. I love the entire direction of the story. I'm even into Winston before he mutated into the Toxic Avenger. The classic version, Melvin wasn't nearly as believable of a character. This is among the bloodiest Toxie movies to date.

I also gotta point out two of the actors in the movie. Taylour Paige and Kevin Bacon also starred together in similar roles for Beverley Hills Cop: Axel F. Funny enough if this had came out it's original release date. The Toxic Avenger would've been out first. Instead this came out a little over an year after Axel F respectively.

The director was a huge Troma fan. He even gotten Lloyd Kaufman very sold on this Toxie movie. Yes Kaufman does cameo late into the film. I felt this version of Toxie is very relatable. Before he's gotten mutated, he was like everyone else. Simply allowing bad people taking advantage of others. He does get briefly killed off such a risky move.

This twist how he gotten mutated into the Toxic Avenger. Possibly could've been an reference to some variations of  DC's The Joker's origins. He simply gotten reborn to become the very hero this town needed. It sorta plays heavily on the underdog concept. When everyone else already given up. Out of no where came this mutated hero to save everyone.

I was quite impressed how well done everything truly was. Being a higher budget version of a low budget cult classic. I'm surprised the higher budget never took away from that. Of course, you do get the occasionally cursing at times. This was a very top the top superhero movie. The story was more serious than expected.

At the same time, it was borderline perfection in recreating the classic Troma style. Somehow the director properly modernize the concept. To be quite honest, some of the characters were more rememberable than expected. This one company is slowly killing off it's own population. Now that easily could've been inspired by some villains from Captain Planet and the Planeteers cartoon show.

Speaking of that, Toxie sorta reminds me of Duke Nukem. Not the famous video game character!!! As in Captain Planet villain of the same name. I love how both people portraying the character so well. I watched the unrated version not for kids!!! There's plenty of surprises as you continue watching the movie.

If you're a Troma fan you may notice some references to their movies. This easily had the best story in a Toxie movie by far. Not to insult some of my favorite Toxie movies. Toxie quickly steals the show you know you absolutely nailed it!!! I also loved the mop plays into his character as well. Even before he's gotten mutated.

Of course, Kevin Bacon plays a truly despicable villain this time around. I love watching Bacon play the villain roles. Yes this was similar to his role in Axel F. But at the same time, it was much crazier!!! Parts of this reminded me of The Mask coughs the good one!!! You know the famous Jim Carrey movie!!!

I apologize for anyone that might've realized a twist I spoiled indirectly. I also loved how Toxie quickly winning the people over. This one guy so happened to be at several locations he once saved. He was among a few people in a restaurant. When a group of gunmen held hostages in there. This was heavily shown in most of the trailers.

In terms of what Toxie stands it's done just right. Yes you can expect some wow they allowed that. Obviously for unrated versions of movies. There's nothing preventing stuff not allowed compared to heavy censoring within rated versions. I highly respect the director went the edgier, unrated route. This further allowed him to make this more faithful to the source material.

Troma isn't for everyone either. They made such mess up possibly disgusting low budget movies. Toxie was the perfect mascot for their brand. I also loved Toxie deeply cares for his son. It's quite touching at times I welcome these scenes in the movie. I won't spoil the ending but there's some possible unfinished business.

Which may or may not tie into a possible follow up movie. Not only that, I do think this director would love to make another Toxie movie. I'm fully on board if it happens. This is exactly how to bring it back!!! Considering all the major obstacles this film had. It's truly amazing this movie does not suck!!! So many films aren't so lucky yes I'm looking at you The Crow (2024 version)!!!

I felt the overall direction just works perfectly. Toxie is a truly believable character this time around. You can tell the people deeply appreciate what he's doing for them. The world changed with one person's mutation. Sure you could say Toxie ripped off Marvel's Hulk with that. He does plenty of things differently to not be an actual rip off of the character either.

For starters, Toxie is more likely going to hear you out on things. If you're a bad guy let's just say. You'll be lucky you don't get killed. This felt like a newer version of such an franchise. Yet done in a way that's very refreshing. A brand new take on the concept. I would say easily my new current favorite Toxie movie.

Yes more so than The Toxic Avenger Part II honestly. This felt like proper fan service!!! We waited so long for another Toxie movie. This really made such a long wait felt worth it!!! I am very impressed how incredibly well this Toxie movie was done. For those willing to give it a chance. I could recommend this to those people I personally loved it!!!
