GOG's Disney Week purchases

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I attempted to buy on Humble Bundle to get a lot of Pac-Man games. Sadly that plan fell through. Lucky I went to GOG to be surprised by their new Disney Week deals. Very quickly I decided which Disney games or those owned by Disney I wanted. You might be surprised what I ended up with.

1. Sam & Max Hit the Road

2. Disney's Aladdin

3. Disney's The Lion King

4. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean

Disney's Aladdin is a port of Sega Genesis version. Disney's The Lion King is a port of SNES version. Sam and Max Hit the Road was the first game based on the comic characters. Many years passed before Telltale made three sequels with a total sixteen episodes. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is based on the first four Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

I figured since both Aladdin & The Lion King are getting live action remakes. I should get them in this deal at a great price. Sam and Max Hit the Road I knew the longest about. I haven't played a Lego game that disappointed me enough to not like it. The closest one was Lego Batman 3 but even that had things going for it.

I know a lot of people whose into Disney. One of the oldest animation companies in the entire world. Eventually I will get The Jungle Book. Considering on such a short notice I believe I scored big. I ended up some truly amazing licensed games. Also who knew Disney owned something as crazy as Sam and Max lol.

Why Maniacs in Dead Rising 4 sucks compared to Psychopaths of the first three Dead Rising games

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, let's be honest Dead Rising 4 was such a huge disappointment. I felt the best way of justifying that is break it down. For me it seem like the more direct of doing this is breaking down the bosses. Considering even optional ones do impact the game play to a degree. I figured to start there to explain how exactly disappointing DR4 bosses truly are.

Most psychopaths had a story that explains their madness or how some are taking advantage of the situation. Sadly they didn't do that enough in Dead Rising 4. The only boss that comes the closest with Calder aka the final boss since his actions triggered by another boss character started all of this. Most of them doesn't give you anything worth your time for going out of your way.

In the first two Dead Rising games there was a few multiple boss characters you have to face at the same time. In Dead Rising 4, you mostly deal with a couple regular enemies. Most of the actual boss characters are simply too easy to take down. By having another boss character it increases the difficulty especially when you are facing the magicians.

Originally Maniacs were way too easy or hard since they didn't properly finished up the game. Yes the final update did fix them up a little bit but honestly they still suck. With the possible exception of the story bosses, most DR4 bosses doesn't get a death scene either. For most psychopaths this is among a lot of people's favorite cut scenes especially Adam the Clown's death.

Simply not having that in Dead Rising 4 was a huge missed opportunity. Yes I know a few psychopaths in the first three Dead Rising games didn't have a death scene either. But in their defense you do gain better weapons as well as a better challenge overall. For example in both versions of Dead Rising 2 there are four snipers carefully placed to cover most of the outside area.

Sometimes going after one of them, another sniper is likely to take shots at you. Also some of them requires taking out enough enemies for the bosses to show up. I rather take on Brandon who does send zombies at your direction. I think they chose that knowing they didn't do enough to justify your time & effort.

Personally I didn't like changing the label from Psychopaths to Maniacs. You see Maniac & Psychopath are virtually the same thing. To be honest, most bosses in DR4 didn't seem that crazy. Almost like they chose to tone the bosses down hoping to get more younger fans into the series. I also didn't like the change because DR4 bosses didn't seem to matter anyway.

They even brought back the cult from the first Dead Rising but wow their new leader was incredibly easy. Even Carlito in the first game had three very different boss fights. I felt Psychopaths had more of a variety. Granted even the worst among DR4 bosses is better than DR3's Sloth boss fight. It is so easy even a caveman can do it lol yeah even a child high on sugar can do it.

I hate to say it another great reason Maniacs sucks is the boss weapons. Most of the so called boss weapons aren't much at all. In fact the combo weapons you can make yourself. I like when some Psychopaths had their own boss weapons you can only get from them. Also because they were among the finest weapons of the game.

To sum it up they took away too much what I loved so much from Psychopath bosses. Almost like Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite maybe there's a connection who really knows. What I do know is if this franchise eventually makes it's return. We really need the developers to step up their game on the bosses.

Streets of Rage trilogy review by Jack Red

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, honestly Streets of Rage is very high among my most treasured Sega games. All three of them are absolutely amazing games in their own right. In fact my sister in law at Otakon bought me a Streets of Rage hat. If that's not saying how much I love this series then what the hell will?

I just want to point out more clearly Streets of Rage 4 got allowed by Sega to be made by another team. There's a long history of attempts at Streets of Rage 4 including Fighting Force. Honestly I do plan on getting this game as soon as possible.

1. Streets of Rage (1991)

Believe it or not, this was the only Streets of Rage game I had as a kid. I know it's difficult to believe. Streets of Rage confirmed by Sega was created to compete with Final Fight on SNES. Which ended up having two slightly different SNES ports with the later only in Japan. You play as three characters Axel, Blaze and Adam to stop the corrupt businessman Mr. X.

No not the tyrant from Resident Evil 2, this Mr. X has a machine gun ho ho ho. For an early beat em up Genesis game it stands the test of time very well. Yes some enemies can attack you right before you do at times. Some bosses can be frustrating due to how they limit you from damaging them. Surprisingly none of them are flat out cheap like you expect from the genre.

OMG the soundtrack is absolutely amazing. I would even dare to say it's even better than Sonic 1's soundtrack I'm not kidding. There are eight levels with some interesting concepts. For example if you with another player reaches Mr. X at the end. He will ask if you would like to work for him. If one of the players says no then the two players must face each other for the bad ending.

Even doing this by yourself you have to replay the last three levels up to him again. But it will be tougher this time. Thankfully you will regain the ability to use your special move. Yes I should mention in this game your special move involves another cop firing at your enemies wiping most of them out.

This also does a lot of damages to the bosses. Once you reach level 8 you will no longer be able to use it. Also in this level you will be facing a lot of bosses you already defeated again. I would say the final level is easily one of my favorites among beat em up games. What you know about Final Fight like picking up weapons to attack enemies is slightly done better here.

2. Streets of Rage 2 (1992)

WOW this game is really good even for an beat em up game. This is easily one of the finest 2's games you will ever find on Sega consoles. Streets of Rage 2 improves on everything over the original. Axel & Blaze return with two new characters Max with Skate aka Adam's little brother. All four of them play incredibly different from each other.

Once again you will be playing through 8 levels. I felt some of these are some of the absolute best among beat em up games I'm not kidding. I would even say the bosses in this game are the best of the franchise. The soundtrack is so damn good that I actually consider it the best for an Sega game. It is in all seriousness that good.

Streets of Rage 2 made the levels beautiful, colorful & lively. This game has easy to pull off special moves. I would say all modes are more fun with another player. Now if you own this game on Steam you can use mods that do spice things up. Streets of Rage 2 chose to make level 8 mostly on an elevator going up to the final two bosses.

I felt this was a clever idea despite many classic beat em up games had elevator levels. It stands out since they added more boss fights with just enough breaks in between to keep the game being fun. This game is honestly so good you really don't mine constantly replaying it. A true master piece Sega proud to have under their belt.

3. Streets of Rage 3 (1994)

This game has a mixed reception among the fans Before I start breaking this game down. I highly recommend playing the original Bare Knuckle III over the US version. It sorta gets censored almost like Final Fight on SNES did a few years before. There is an extra boss removed from the US version named Mr. Ash.

This has the biggest roster of playable characters to date in the franchise. Axel, Blaze & Skate returns with Dr. Zan as the default characters. Believe it or not, three bosses or two in US version are hidden playable characters. All three of them aren't able of using weapons. Both Mr. Ash & Shiva requires as they're defeated to quickly input a code.

When you use a continue you can now select them. You also could do this to play as Roo the Kangaroo. Thankfully he is the only hidden character to have an alternate method of unlocking. You can input a code prior to going to the character selection. If you done it correctly Roo will now appear among all the playable characters.

The awesome codes doesn't stop there. Just like the previous two games there are codes for level select as well as adding more lifes & continues. This one lacks the extra Mania difficulty that's the hidden hardest difficulty. There is also super characters with infinite over powered special moves. There's two methods of achieving in the game.

1. As Skate quickly lose all your lifes to use up an continue without any points then among coming back you might become Super Skate

2. You must input a very tricky code to play as Super Axel that includes doing the same code clockwise until the game starts

If done correctly your characters will have very damaging specials to do ridiculous damages to the bosses. I should mention for some odd reason they reversed the color scheme for Axel. In the first two games in Japan, he is wearing a yellow shirt with black pants. They decided to use that in US version of SOR3 instead of his usual white shirt with blue pants.

There is also multiple endings with a few major changes to the story. It could even change whose the final boss. I know saving or not rescuing the chief in time is a condition for the endings. Another one is if you end up facing Robo X as the final boss. Defeating him in time or not will alter your ending. They really put a lot of thought into that.

I do agree the soundtrack isn't as good as the first two Streets of Rage games. There is a boss you have to defeat three times in the same level. There isn't much of a boss rush this time either. Honestly they could've done it like in TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist in it's boss rush level. Sorry I felt this game could've been more overall challenging.

Golden Axe series review by Jack Red

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I get to talk about one of my absolute favorite Sega franchises. Golden Axe are some of the best among hack & slash beat em up style games you will ever play. I played all three Genesis games as well as Golden Axe Warrior on Sega Master System. I will be reviewing all four of them in this blog entry.

1. Golden Axe (1989)

As a kid I really enjoyed playing this game. Golden Axe is an excellent Genesis port. One of the very best among very early Genesis games. The music is one of the very best you will ever heard on an Sega console. Golden Axe involves a dwarf, barbarian and amazon warriors joined forces against Death Adder.

Keep in mind some versions are based on Genesis port that does add levels also changing the main antagonist. Yes Death Adder is still in the game but technically he has been split up into three characters. You could do the easiest difficulty playing almost half the game to face Death Adder Jr. final boss fight.

Beyond defeating Death Adder you have to work your way to his boss Death Bringer. This guy is even tougher than Death Adder in the arcade version I'm not kidding. Each character has a different magic type as well as amount they can hold. Dwarf having the lowest while Amazon has the highest magic.

They also changed not counting bonus portions as levels like originally in the arcade version. This is a great game to play with another person. The same guy that made this also created Altered Beast. Yeah I do highly recommend Golden Axe over Altered Beast. Golden Axe is a must play Genesis classic.

2. Golden Axe Warrior (1991)

I played this as a hidden game on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. This is virtually a classic Zelda style game. It is so similar that there isn't a lot to separate them I'm not kidding. Almost everything you can do is also possible in The Legend of Zelda. This is as close to Sega ever got to ripping them off.

There also exists a Game Gear spin off game following Ax Battler aka the barbarian. Which is more of a Zelda 2 clone than anything else. The music is once again solid for a Golden Axe game. You could even say this was Sega's Zelda I know a pretty bold statement. Golden Axe Warrior should feel familiar to those playing Zelda games of that era.

I do highly recommend find a guide as well as maps. Trust me you will quickly get loss fast in this game. The map itself is one of the biggest in size for a SMS game. You do find some familiar enemies including bosses. This game would be one of the finest among Sega Master System. In fact it isn't just a must play title, it also a rather unique experience for a Golden Axe game.

3. Golden Axe II (1992)

I have stated a few times this game is mixed received. The biggest criticism being it is too similar to the original Golden Axe. I do agree some parts of it are similar but it also made some clever changes. For example instead of simply attacking thieves. You have to deal with mages that will fight back. Unlike most Golden Axe games, you can decide how much magic you will be using.

You also can change the direction of throwing your enemies at will. Which is helpful in some later portions of the game. I will say the final boss to me was a huge disappointment. I was expecting a worthy final boss to push me. I ended up fighting one of the cheapest final bosses in beat em ups ever.

This guy will do his best to keep his distance. He keeps creating more skeletons to prevent you having time of attacking him. Most of his attacks will do a lot of damage to you. In fact I had to rely on a similar trick some people would use on Death Adder & Death Bringer by default. This guy is fighting dirty to the point it simply isn't fun.

4. Golden Axe III (1993 in Japan and briefly in 1995 as a part of Sega Channel)
For me this is my least favorite Golden Axe game among the main series. I wouldn't say it was the most disappointing Golden Axe game I ever played. No that award goes to 3D remake of Golden Axe that's part of Sega Ages or Sega Classics Collection on PS2. Golden Axe III greatly changed things up.

Sadly none of the original characters are playable. Although the dwarf now dead is still present. I would say there is more of a variety among playable characters. Chronos is hands down the best character. I felt he is the most well around out of everyone. In it's versus mode you select a character. Then you must defeat all the playable characters.

Oh wait they added that bird man aka the king as a playable character in that mode. You even have to defeat yourself too. This is very similar to games like King of the Monsters despite doing the process twice. Golden Axe III did make the AI smarter but also cheaper. Regularly I would say the skeletons are the cheapest enemies.

In this game every enemies you will be facing is incredibly cheap. But the knights are surprisingly much easier than the previous two Genesis games. There is multiple paths that does affect the difficulty. They were really strict on how to get the true ending which I still never gotten. Overall I felt like they were trying too hard to make this game stand out.

Consoles vs. PC Gaming

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, One of the absolute biggest gaming debates that probably will never have an definitive answer. A debate so big it appears among other very big gaming debates usually in the top 5. No it's not Sega vs. Nintendo trust me this is much bigger than that. I'm here to talk about Consoles vs. PC since both have a lot of advantages over each other.

Let's be honest there's no way one person can satisfy enough people over this topic. Every gamer has a very different tastes as well as franchises among their favorite games. Consoles date back to late 70s with Magnavox Odyssey. PC gaming is slightly more recent than that although both have a long history. Both filled with plenty of great games to take several hours possibly days to fully call off.

Now the point of this blog is not to determine which being superior overall like many people's takes. Let's be honest doing something like that for a topic like this is too much for one person to bear. The actual point is which ends up being the better overall experience. I am completely leaving my bias side to the door.

Round 1: Controls

Some of you are probably wondering why start off with the controls. Well I felt the controls could differ a little to heavily depending on games. Most consoles has controllers as well as accessories to help spice up the experience. But PC does have those too just not as often like during the 90s. You can play some console controllers on your computers.

Usually for PC you are using a keyboard with a mouse. Which works perfectly for FPS games since you need to turn faster during matches. Consoles do work better with a controller. Back in the day putting in cheat codes was much easier on PC than console games. In most cases you can change the controls.

There are PC games giving you a couple of options how to them just on what you will be using. Some PC games automatically switch the controls on the fly. It is more common among indie games but it does help out a lot in difficult games. Honestly I could take the best console controllers to compare about a few select PC games with those options.

Many people would look at me like I'm crazy. Well maybe I am a little crazy but this is a tough topic after all. You can adapt to both of them at a fast pace. Where it truly comes down for me is which one ends up being more adaptable. This is where I give the point to PC since a great number of them do an amazing job with that.

Winner: PC

Round 2: Games

Thankfully I don't have to go far on explaining why I can't decide which is better in this category. Excluding emulators of many consoles. Both of them overall have a very lengthy library of games. People like John Hancock has a museum filled with gaming wonders. This is also a category where bias can strike without warning.

Let's be more direct a great number of games you could name has been on both. Yes not all of them get the same treatment but they still count. Both of them have a heavily presence among gamers. PC has been going for a much longer period of time that's not likely to end any time soon. There's so many game consoles not counting newer smaller variations done by many companies.

On both sides there's plenty of PC or console exclusive games that many people remember to this day. Trust me as someone that's been around enough games on both of them. They really caught your attention not trying at all. Sure advertising in gaming has changed a lot in the last twenty years. Digitally or physical copies, end of the day there's no real way of deciding which is truly better.

Winner: Tie

Round 3: Graphics

In graphics alone both sides changed heavily over the years. Very early PC games didn't utilize colors much. In gaming it went from being very limited to a wide variety of colors. I do need to say PC in graphics did evolve at a much faster rate. Graphics can greatly affect any gamers' decision of buying a game.

Stuff like frame rate or how it presents the story are just some of those things. Late 90s, consoles started to go more into 3D games. But a few years better, PC was already there. Sometimes you expect a particular look for what you are playing. For example, some game consoles has very bright colors while others are darker in overall tone.

Both has a lot of game genres with plenty of classics. One thing I learned in the last five years is sometimes a game doesn't need great graphics. There are games like D relies more on being vastly different in it's own right from other horror games. At one point you probably played a game that's look terrible but amused how fun it was.

More recently, both sides are really pushing the limits. One advantage PC has is being able to change the screen resolution. You can make the graphics lower or higher that greatly affects the games themselves in many ways. Let's be honest both sides are not disappointing anyone here. I would even go as far to say this is surprisingly close.

Consoles usually doesn't have major problems in the game playing itself. You may see some graphical glitches every now & then. At the same time it doesn't affect the game play much. Yes PC depending on several factors could have issues that you might be able to fix or not. In other words you might be taking a chance at something great or not so much.

You could get a graphical glitch that makes cut scenes difficult as well as possible black screens. You may also experience games not properly starting up at all. Regardless graphics has little to do it with that issue anyway. Let's be more direct PC has more impressive graphics more recently while gaming sold me on older stuff.

Please allow me to explain why folks before any rocks gets thrown here. It is no secret some massive PC games can look truly mind blowing. In fact it even puts some of the finest on consoles to shame. I felt going in the opposite retro direction consoles seem to do better than PC. Maybe this is just my opinion but I am not saying many PC games I gotten from some services look bad.

Winner: Consoles

Round 4: Service

There's many services to buy PC games from. I bought so many from Steam & GOG in just the last few years. A very few of them also has digital copies to some game consoles. Personally I want to focus on Steam & GOG versus Xbox Live & PlayStation Network. Both sides has some great advantages over each other.

On consoles you can get a better game selection screens. You can add a lot to just one purchase on Steam. I spent a lot this past Christmas on Steam alone. I felt Steam does a better job explaining the games while consoles has better pictures to showcase them better. Yes you can get gift cards to help buy games.

In most online games you don't need to pay anything to play on your computers. You do need to get a membership on consoles to being able to play online with others. Although PC does have some games you could keep buying to play as well as getting expansions. Basically choose your poison but you still should be happy.

Yes both does send a bill to your email confirming your purchases. When it comes to getting great games for free & discounted I felt PC does better. GOG does have GOG Connect that allows during brief periods if any selected games you might own on Steam. You can automatically get added to your GOG account.

I recently stated this in a blog about GOG but I once gotten the entire Saints Row series in one day for free. Now consoles does offer up more features than the previous gaming generation without having a membership. Of course I could bring them up but most of it isn't actually gaming. GOG also allows you to play your games without login ins.

I spent a fortune on most of these services. I gotten games I'm proud to own as a gamer. Honestly Xbox does have Game Pass but that also requires a membership. It allows you to play as many supported games as long you have your membership. Not bad but PC does have a better way of listing all games I own.

You all would be surprise how many games I own on Steam. Slowly but surely my GOG collection is growing. Yes more recently consoles does a better job displaying the icons for your digital collections. I felt I had a more satisfying experience especially refund side of things on PC. Steam does have a more recent publisher accounts making it easier to track their games overall.

Winner: PC

Round 5: Sound

Obviously so many gamers are into the music to the point. Even if one thing is left they aren't going to enjoy it. Honestly who really cares it is a game just play it a little further before making that decision. Here is the thing both of them retro has some truly amazing test standing soundtracks. Even newer games has some truly great songs.

Both have gotten good & bad ports on each other. This might actually come down to something like sound effects I'm not kidding. WOW the songs in a lot of their games can put a lot of people in the right positive mood. As stated before both covered many game genres nailing a lot of them in the process.

It shouldn't be a secret I might not be able to decide which is slightly better overall. There's simply so much for just one person to listen to. Even if I really limited the games in question I doubt that would help things. Both of them at their finest is truly mind blowing. At their absolute worst it makes you wanna do something else hoping to get the horrible taste out of your mouth.

It is possible to have amazing sound effects but terrible songs as well as in vice versa. Let's be honest there really isn't a lot of ways to determine which stands out more. Also better so many games more recently are on both of them not falling short for the most part in the audio department. Honestly this is way too close to call so we have another draw.

Winner: Tie

2-2-1 PC does have some great stuff going for it. Keep in mind I grew up heavily around consoles. In fact I might decide to write a quick gamer background story of myself to prove that point. I didn't have a lot of experience playing as much on PC. More recently I did get a lot into PC to be blown away.

PC does have nails a better overall service experience. It also has more unique control options to play several games. There does exist videos of people playing Doom on other machines to attempt making the game harder. Everything else was very close to call. To clarify I really do enjoy playing on both of them very well.

Showing respect to GOG for their 10th anniversary

According to my account I own seventy two games. I am very likely to pick up their next free game this Thursday. Free games from this service are virtually mind blowing goodness that's simply beyond words. I am surprised they attempted GOG Connect feature. Although GOG to me is more than a service.

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, I grew up as a console gamer owning several of them at one time. Of course we had a few extra consoles for me & my brother. Believe it or not, it actually took a long time for me to get into PC gaming. One of my earliest memories of GOG was through a friend at his house.

He played games like Blood & Redneck Rampage series. Their goal from the beginning is you own games without restrictions. You see stuff like consoles as well as Steam on PC are mostly DRM. I will be linking an interesting post explaining both sides of the border. To sum it up you can do whatever you want to them after purchase.

To clarify DRM is strictly against doing modding to giving a game you bought or won to someone else. Also you must be registered most of the time to access your games and movies. Thankfully for GOG once it has been installed you can start it right up. More recently there is GOG Galaxy that to me works much better than Steam client.

https://fckdrm.com/

GOG is the biggest DRM free PC gaming service in the world. I am writing a few stories relating to their service to show my respect. My first free game from GOG was Shadow Warrior Classic. The original version of Shadow Warrior they had prior to Shadow Warrior Classic Redux. I ended up after buying during a particular deal period to getting that version free.

A friend of mine introduced me to Shadow Warrior many years ago. Even to this day it is a difficult game. At the same time I do like a lot of things about it. Of course I was a huge Duke Nukem fan willing to give another game from the same team a try. Personally I really do prefer Classic Redux over the other version for many great reasons.

I already owned most of Saints Row series on Steam. You know after a while GOG puts games you might own on Steam to get for free on GOG. Can you believe one time I got most Saints Row games for free? I was so excited that I really couldn't hold it in. Both me and my wife are a huge fan of this franchise.

My first purchase was through back to school deals. I ended up getting Interplay Build Your Own Bundle. I already reviewed every game I gotten in that game. I will confirm most of them works great on my computer. I got some nice bonus stuff that I do enjoy having. Easily one of my favorite gaming bundles I ever bought.

Interplay Build Your Own Bundle
1. Battle Chess Special Edition (3 games)
2. Redneck Rampage Collection (3 games)
3. Earthworm Jim 3D
4. Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
5. Prehistorik 1+2 (2 games)
6. Earthworm Jim 1+2: The Whole Can 'O Worms (2 games)
7. Kingpin: Life of Crime
8. MDK
9. MDK 2
10. Toonstruck

The same friend also introduced me to Redneck Rampage games. Some of the silliest games with possibly offensive humor. Possibly one of the most surprising games on Duke 3D engine. At least I know where Bethesda's Point Lookout dlc came from lol. These games can be difficult but surprisingly entertaining in their own right.

More recently I bought Metal Slug series & King of the Monsters. I only had prior experience to King of the Monsters since I had it's Genesis port. All of these games works perfectly with my controller. Not only it brings the arcade experience it doesn't becomes too unfair. I was very surprised how much I enjoyed all the Metal Slug games.

One time I did request a refund but a staff talked me into doing their GOG wallet system. It wasn't forced, this person took their time to explain it to me. I got upset over Rayman 1 and 3 for different reasons. I kept Rayman 2 with a spin off game similar to Mario Party series. I ended up buying Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 & Alone in the Dark 1+2+3 in their place.

Another reason I remembered this is my experience with Steam on refunding games wasn't as good. You have to wait for them to be notify about your refund. Then you have to wait a little longer on getting your money back. Now keep in mind I didn't get to talk a staff member during this process. I got upset waiting with little to no idea how long before they finalized my refund.

I can honestly say Mortal Kombat games are done just right. I am slowly getting use to the controls in Alone in the Dark games. I should mention Jack in the Dark is a bonus game hidden within one of them. I would say this was officially my happiest refund to date. Sadly on some gaming services there is no such thing as a refund coughs Microsoft.

Another very personal purchase I got from GOG was Jazz Jackrabbit series. Both Jazz Jackrabbit games comes with all their expansions thus every single level. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 had some nice bonuses like JJ2+ mod. A long standing community of fans are updating the game through this mod. Not only that you could download other user's levels or create your own.

Believe it or not, my first time playing both Jazz Jackrabbit games was in school. I remember going to a computer to play mostly the original Jazz Jackrabbit. I didn't get to play as much of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 back then. I got to be honest I really didn't expect I would end up liking that game more. Easily one of my absolute favorite DOS games ever made.

What I love about GOG is they do update a great number of their games. They are more likely to fix any major problems including those surprisingly still present on Steam. I also like in many games you get almost everything to all of it in just one purchase. Stuff like the first two Quake games has all their official expansions.

Yes there isn't many games I can use my controller but I'm more likely to do better with my keyboard. The nice bonuses on many games makes it even better to buy from GOG. I bought or got some free games coming with their soundtracks. I also got several of them with nice wallpapers you can put on your background.

I also like how I can display all my games. I just couldn't get how I want to display on Steam trust me I tried. More recently they add much to their user's profiles. This is easily one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Not only I can find out some games how long I played them. I can talk to other users while we play games.

Yes I know Steam did this many years before but let's be honest. The way GOG handled this concept was perfection. Clearly they are passionate gamers that want to continue long standing passions of other people. They realized a great number of games they have on their service are difficult to find possibly costing way too much.

I liked you simply download them getting exactly what you want. I also prefer how GOG does the icons for their games compared to those of Steam. Officially yes I spent a lot more on Steam but I am planning to change that. To be honest Steam by itself doesn't make me very happy. GOG cares about all their consumers.

Hopefully in the future some games you might be waiting for could be on their service. These guys are amazing at what they do. At first I didn't see many games I wanted. Now I see plenty of games I want to own in my GOG collection eventually. I would say this to me is as close to perfect PC gaming as humanly possible.

All Capcom Games I own on Xbox One so far Part 2

Hi everyone I'm Jack Red, officially a follow up/update blog. I recently got more Capcom goodness for my Xbox One. Unlike last time I will be reviewing all the games present in this. Now I can start up by saying all of these I do recommend. I also hope this tells you what I love about Capcom in general.

1. DuckTales: Remastered

I haven't played the classic NES DuckTales games. I am aware of The Disney Afternoon Collection that has both of them. I also never actually seen the classic cartoon either. More recently, a new cartoon reboot is airing on TV. If I'm not mistaken this game was the last time the original DuckTales cast voiced together.

Yes this version has both texts & voice overs. You can skip cut scenes although some of them are rewatchable. They took the classic NES game then brought it up to modern gaming standards. Capcom wasn't as involve as the original DuckTales games. Each level has a map that's easy enough to follow.

The difficulty for the most part is on point. There are a few key parts that can be frustrating. Most bosses are just as easy as the classic game's. Unlike most DuckTales games, you also get the option to swim in his vault through gold coins. Personally the Family Guy parody is more entertaining lol. The cane can be a little off but for the most part it gets the job done.

Sometimes you have to pay attention to particular areas of the level. In order to know where to go like in Transylvania level. You have to memorize which mirror takes you to the correct area. I also like the enemy selection fits this game perfectly. One nice touch is all the money you earn can be used to unlock a lot of cool DuckTales stuff.

Achievements are mostly simple that shouldn't take long to get most of them. DuckTales: Remastered does do the classic games justice. Eventually I'll check out Castle of Illusion: Remastered since I grew up with the Genesis classic. Back to this, I felt the music for the most part is great. However I still prefer the original songs especially the moon level's.

2. Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (2 games)

OMG I can very surprised I missed out on playing this on Xbox 360. Two classic licensed Capcom beat em up arcade games in one package. The same team behind Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online, Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins and Darkstalkers: Resurrection made this. You can tell in many ways like you can earn particular points to unlock more of the gallery.

You can switch between the games just like those compilations. The challenges are addicting to do for hours among hours. A couple of them will give you a lot of achievements in the process. The actual games are some of the most ambitious beat em up games I have ever seen. Not only in some levels you can choose a path.

You can move away from the path to go into several rooms. The animation alone is virtually mind blowing. The later game adds two more characters that help making the experience more unique. There's a lot of boss fights that can be very repetitive. At the same time you will still have a great job taking them down.

The audio department alone is perfect I have no real complaints. The music is absolutely amazing with very good sound effects. Even with some cheesy voice acting it still doesn't disappoint. They really put so much content into just one of them. But having them both is plenty to justify it's low asking price.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles is technically the third games of the franchise I owned. I had the solo Genesis game and a terrible PS1 fighting game. It is no question this is the best Dungeons & Dragons game I have ever played. Trust me this compilation is among the very best I played to date. I also like you can upgrade your characters but you can lose them in record time.

3. Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle (7 games)

I was already mind blown playing Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. This is even more craziness that only Capcom could do justice. Seven of their classic arcade beat em up games in one place. You already have everything in the gallery at the start. The original pictures to tie all the games in are absolutely amazing.

The achievements are a mixed bag with people. Yes you can in just a few hours get most of them simply by beating all the games. Most points on them are 100 gamer score that can help you go up in the ranks. Honestly I am not picky about that although I understand the disappointment. I am enjoying it since it slightly has more challenging achievements than those of X-Men arcade game.

I am not going to lie some of these games are weird at best. Both The King of Dragons & Knights of the Round is not only similar to Dungeons & Dragons Capcom games but also Magic Sword. All five classic arcade beat em up games represent bringing the RPG experience to arcades. You can level up your characters and equip new gear.

Even the bosses are surprisingly similar to each other I'm not kidding. Both The King of Dragons & Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara has a giant red dragon as the final boss. The most well known game among the seven is Final Fight. Originally going to be a sequel to the original Street Fighter.

It quickly became it's own game spawning it's own sequels and spin offs. The same game Sega created Streets of Rage to compete against it. Obviously I don't need to discuss it's SNES port technically having two versions being greatly inferior to the original arcade game. To me, the bosses are a little cheaper than I would like to be.

You can die very fast in this game without warning. I do enjoy the bonus stages since I don't have to worry about getting owned repeatedly. Several things from this game does transfer to most games presented in this compilation. The music is easily the best part of the game. When you do successfully pull off moves the game does become a little more fun.

Now it's talk to talk about the last three games. Armored Warriors is a mech beat em up game where you take on other mechs. Honestly there's two particular games it really reminds me of. Cyborg Justice since you can swap out parts during the combat. Shogo is a FPS based on the same concept that franchises like Gundam are continuing to this day.

Basically a similar art design for this & Shogo with both having a great soundtrack. Although Shogo's does come more off like an anime game. Cyborg Justice isn't that great but I am glad someone did that feature justice. Armored Warriors is addictive due to swapping out parts. You also have several characters to play as.

Battle Circuit is possibly the strangest game included. Both this and Armored Warriors being on consoles as well as PC for the first time. Battle Circuit up til this compilation was only available in Japan since not even it's arcade cabinet came to the United States. Oh wait it gets much stranger than this.

The playable characters alone are just the topping of this pineapple up-side down cake. You can play as a mutant plant, a cat woman, a little girl riding a pink ostrich or a guy that can shape shift body parts. There is a lot of strange humor that does remind you of anime. The artwork itself is worth checking out.

There's a twist at the end where you can decide to simply remove the disk in question or destroy the program. Basically the raw data on the actual disk. You don't delete it like normal you beat it to deletion. Unfortunately this final boss really doesn't go easy on you. I should've started this by saying you will die a lot in these game.

But here imagine dying all the games it took to beat those games in just one boss fight I'm not kidding. Finally we get to Captain Commando, if you played Marvel vs. Capcom 1 and 2. You probably seen Captain Commando in action. The commercial Capcom made for this is nostalgia. You see Captain Commando come out of no where to take kids to the future.

He shows off this compilation with a mess up way of ending the commercial. The fact they got Captain Commando on that commercial scored high with me. This game is very unusual in many ways. Just like Battle Circuit, the playable characters is questionable at best. To clarify none of them sucks.

Ninja Commando is probably my second favorite among all the characters. I never actually thought I would say Baby Commando ended up being the best character. Yes a baby piloting a powered suit that's human size oh okay Capcom. This character has some great moves to help in some boss fights. Mummy Commando reminds me of the dual knives enemies in some of the games.

Most of them has a great pace that shouldn't take too long to fully beat them all. For twenty bucks you get seven truly amazing games. Not only that online coop makes these even better. I highly recommend you play this compilation folks. Final Fight was my least favorite among the seven. I would have to say Battle Circuit ended up being my favorite.
