I took a lot of time since that announcement it's happening to look into both these legendary cartoon characters. This should be among the most creative fights they ever done!!! Neither having a main canon means anything getting considered. Ridiculousness please these two give that a new definition. I couldn't be any happier about being among a few thousand people that made this a reality!!!
Verdict
Wile E. Coyote
This shouldn't be a huge surprise I got a lot to explain. Considering both of them are capable of toon force making even the impossible seem like child's play. I don't think stats going to matter that much in the long run. I know some still wanna argue particular stats one or the other has over each other. Sadly toon force simply cancels that making it a rather pointless argument.
They both debut in the 1940s with Tom coming nearly a decade before Coyote. Yet neither has any main canons across all the different versions. Which forces the Death Battle team to consider everything. This by itself could make it surprisingly complex or flat out confusing. Both has a rather long lists for their arsenal they could be given.
It's safe to say majority of those simply cancel each other out. We also can agree at times especially in Wile's case, toon force can back fire on em. Both of them are surprisingly smart cartoon characters as well. This is going to be a ridiculous test of endurance. They both can really take punishment from other characters.
Of course both has some weird advantages over each other. Tom is more of a main character within his roster of cartoon characters while Wile occasionally acts as a supporting character. He does have plenty of his own cartoon shorts too. In scaling this means Tom doesn't require directly scaling to other character. In vice versa, Coyote will be likely be compared to many Looney Tunes characters.
Which does help in scaling despite how broken both their toon force usage is. Tom in canon has to die nine times to stay dead. This concept does exist in Looney Tunes through Sylvester the Cat. Who also by pure confidence debut in the 1940s. A lot of Tom & Jerry stories takes place inside locations. In comparison majority of Wile's stories takes place around the mountains outside.
This is also a weird take on cat vs dog. Which brings me to an advantage that shouldn't be a surprise. Tom has a notable history not doing well against dogs like Spike. I did look up coyotes they do count as canines. Tom could invent stuff to a degree while Wile simply order stuff from Acme. I think a lot of us can agree both could use each other weapons to a degree.
I still could argue Wile being slightly smarter. It's also easy to give the experience advantage to Tom. Simply because he came first logic. He likely appeared in more things than Coyote. Personally I rather run with that instead. It's also true Tom has to deal with Jerry whose surprisingly clever himself. I still gotta give credit to Coyote trying to run after the Road Runner.
Whose among the fastest Looney Tunes characters. This by itself if stats mattered would've given Coyote the speed advantage. People also forget there's a few times he's caught the Road Runner. Same with Tom getting Jerry by surprise. It's a more frustrating debate whose truly the more broken character?
Coyote could be given an anti-toon gun. I know what some people going to say. "Tom isn't from that universe, the gun shouldn't work on him." You also gotta realize Death Battle takes place in a neutral shared universe. There's proof with Gojo vs Makima being a great example of this. They added in a particular situation to better tie in the characters.
Considering that logic it's heavily implied in this version of the fight. Wile getting that gun could be a game changer. Sure it can be countered if Tom figures out laughter can bring back his toon force. Both easily survived getting sent from planet to planet back. Oddly enough in reverse order that involved the same two planets being Earth and Mars.
I also know a lot of people are expecting this to end in a draw. They countered so much even bagging the question can either cartoon character actually die? Surprisingly yes in both cases funny enough. Both once gotten blown up to become star constellations. There was a time enough explosives blew up an house took out Tom.
Let's be honest stuff like this is rather inconsistent with both characters. Although it will take a long time both of them can get tired. Not only that eventually we'll get to parts of their arsenal they lack a counter for. Which is inevitably going to happen. This by itself could easily determines who wins this fight.
There's also the question who can survive the more ridiculous situations? This is easily where Coyote scaling to other characters wins em that argument. I will confess both of them are pretty ridiculous. Tom just isn't as close as ridiculous as some of the Looney Tunes characters in comparison. Especially the feats in classic cartoon shorts as well as comic shorts.
Yosemite Sam took on Marvin the Martian that involved an black hole against the sun before. There's virtually nothing like that in anything Tom & Jerry. There was a brief period Coyote took on Bugs Bunny. In my opinion the most ridiculous Looney Tunes character of them all!!! Bugs has a few ridiculous versions including Animator Bugs.
Where Bugs can draw and erase stuff from existence with ease. He also can manipulate reality as well as fate with ease. All of that simply doesn't exist in Tom's multiverse. We even had Duck Dodger aka Daffy Duck take on Marvin the Martian. Which led to mostly destroyed an planet with powerful weapons.
Obviously both easily tanked planet level destruction in such a short period of time. This by itself also isn't in anything Tom ever been in either. Even Tiny Toons has some rather ridiculous feats from younger cartoon characters. Which does involve I kid you not resetting the universe!!! We even had a few times the animation became too much to cause the actual cartoon shorts to break.
I know a lot of people are dead focus on whose the more broken character. I am quite confessed it is Wile E. Coyote. You also gotta realize in majority of his chase theme stories. He's in a constant state of hunger while that's rare in Tom's case. After all, there's times Tom is treated as a pet. This also means Coyote more willing attack as well.
Both of them are rather creative in what they do. I just don't think after a point Tom can keep up with Coyote. Acme seems to have something for everything. Yes their inventions often back fires on Coyote. There are some rare occasions they worked. Sadly some of those examples led to no longer having the Road Runner shortly afterwards.
A good example of this is when he cloned himself a few times. Keep in mind, the Road Runner is ridiculously faster than Tom in comparison. All of them equal the same level of intelligence. This by itself could be game changing. There's also a chance their robots could be used. Coyote's robot once caught the Road Runner as well.
I don't think that robot cat in the futuristic cartoon shorts going to help much. At one point, he turned on Tom to start controlling him. Which also happened to Jerry by his own mouse robot. Some could argue ways Jerry is more broken than the Road Runner. I will give some credit Jerry is notably smarter than that bird.
At the same time, this bird instantly does ridiculous stuff not really thinking at all in comparison. It's very obvious the Road Runner thinks exactly like a real life bird. Obviously Jerry is essentially a smaller rodent version of Tom yes I said that. In both their multiverses, they occasionally chase other animals.
Which also is true with Sylvester the Cat chasing Tweety. Look I can't help he was introduced between these two legendary cartoon characters. Tom likely get confused by some of Acme's inventions. I don't think he's as clever as Bugs. Whom secretly manipulated Coyote through a particular invention before. Coyote can get access to some truly ridiculous stuff from Acme.
The assumption is Tom easily can use anything from Acme. After awhile you start to notice some of those inventions are rather complex. Even some of the more simpler titled inventions. Some also could make the argument parts of Tom's powers involves his imagination. I don't have a solid counter against that.
The problem with that logic is you just never know which Acme invention about to be used. Therefore Tom would have to instantly know what's about to happen to possibly counter it. There are plenty of times both of them gotten over confident to getting the bad end of the stick. There's no way Tom going to quickly figure out some of those inventions in time.
Not a lot of people knows this next fact. It's very common knowledge Tom has some fighting skills. In some rare occasions Coyote himself shown some impressive fighting skills. There's also the fact in majority of Tom's fighting scenes he's wielding weapons. Coyote can fight well without any of them. This might also come as a huge surprise.
Tom is more used getting beaten up in comparison. Which is kinda amusing considering his opponent from a particular cartoon franchise known for that lol. Coyote also has the advantage being in more locations outside. At times as a pet, Tom gets in trouble. Which usually leads to him getting smacked by his owners.
All of a sudden being a more indoors cartoon character works against em. This by itself is a major difference between the two cartoon characters. Coyote was never a pet in any of his stories. Therefore he simply can do what he wants while at times Tom had to bend to others to life at places. This is another major reason Tom going to lose this fight.
Tom also more used to dealing with smaller animals. When he deals with bigger ones like a baby elephant whose disguised as a giant mouse. Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that didn't go well. Obviously, the Road Runner much bigger than Jerry in size. This is critical because majority what Coyote could do actually doesn't require altering the scope much to happen.
In comparison, Tom would more likely freak out trying to quickly alter that against Coyote. Wile being slightly taller has little to nothing going for this either. If you get them enough time to figure something out. They could better their chances to a degree. This is virtually the cartoon variation of that concept with both of them being strategists.
It's safe to say Coyote is notably more ambitious. He also could've learned some tricks from the other Looney Tunes characters to trick Tom. Let's be honest, at times Jerry does that to him. In turn Coyote possibly do the same. Even going against Bugs Bunny, he once caught him in a bag before. People also forget that's another common trait of those characters.
They often play such trickery against each other. It's not as commonly used within Tom & Jerry. Tom also struggled against a rival cat to a degree. Which could be used as a possible idea how this cartoon fight could go. Butch Cat shows up at times usually annoying Tom. There's some rare occasions the two cats worked together to end up back firing instead.
Surprisingly not a lot of people discussing this fight brings this cartoon cat character up. Obviously Butch isn't that smart compared to Wile. But he does rival Tom's tendency to a degree. Which is critical since we also can argue how Coyote surpasses that. Wile simply wants to eat this speedster bird. In comparison Tom's goals could differ to a degree.
Tom is thrown into more notable situations since he's more of a main cartoon character. Despite that, Coyote still held his own with the rest of them. All of a sudden Tom being a main character doesn't actually mean much. Wile has proven to be more creative with a greater level of endurance. He puts it all on the line to eat a huge bird.
This eventually means Tom's determination going to run out first. Especially when he realizes how badly Coyote wants to win. It's even safer to assume he's willing to cross lines Tom wouldn't. Ultimately this is exactly where all of this comes down to. In a few critical areas Coyote could go a little further than Tom.
Tom's only real counter to an anti-toon gun is laughter. It's also possible by late into this fight. Tom be highly afraid of Coyote to laughter normally. There's also the chance this suddenly cause insanity for him as well. Let's be honest Looney Tunes characters are quite crazy to begin with. It's easy to see how all of this madness be simply too much for Tom to accept.
Especially when the more ridiculous stuff he could do. In some ways gets countered in ways he didn't even know was coming. Now going back to Acme inventions back firing. Coyote possibly could get the crazy idea of causing an invention to back fire on purpose or rig it for Tom to use as a trap. Both options being a strong possibility here.
Now I know I'm really putting a lot of thought into something this ridiculous. The simple fact is people including myself made this cartoon fight happen on the web show. A lot of people are expecting a draw. Well I really don't think this going to end in a draw like Scooby-Doo vs Courage. I do believe for a lot of reasons I stated Wile E. Coyote going to win this cartoon fight.
Winner: Wile E. Coyote (Looney Tunes)
