Keep in mind, this is strictly my opinion alone.
5. Better licensed video games
I know this is unfair because Family Dog only got one video game to a couple games Beavis and Butt-Head had. It also doesn't help Family Dog's solo video game was terrible. I will be honest I had two Beavis and Butt-Head games back in the day. Beavis and Butt-Head on Sega Genesis then later the Game Boy game.
I did look up videos on Family Dog game, it was bad. Compared to those Beavis and Butt-Head games, I'm very glad I had those instead. The Genesis game really does reminds me of the show. In it's own way, the Game Boy game does as well. Of course, if you aren't able to connect to the game like the show, you're in for a suckfest more true in the 90s sadly.
4. A more relatable concept
Family Dog is about the family dog's point of view with the family themselves being very selfish pricks. Beavis and Butt-head heavily played off younger people doing stupid things. Which is something so many can connect with. Also in a lot of episodes, they would give feedback on music videos.
Which a lot of people loved that. It further brought in more unexpected humor for the show. Also it helped introduced people to a lot of musicians with those songs. Beavis and Butt-Head gave people more reason to be carefree at times. These sections of the shows are usually meant as huge high lights so many people looked forward to.
3. Shorter stories
Honestly I must give praise to Beavis and Butt-Head for a few reasons. Even one episode of Family Dog to me felt like an eternity. It just wasn't good in any regard whatsoever. Also Beavis & Butt-Head done shorter episodes that gets bundled together for television. It's not easy to write short stories then quickly get it ready for TV.
Also this helped with spicing up the show at times. One story could be them getting detention. The next story is they're at a mall offending women. It is rather out of the box strategy for it's time. Some 90s cartoon had a similar episode length to Beavis and Butt-Head. This also made the procession of editing or fixing em up a lot easier compared to a lot of cartoon shows at the time.
2. Movie
Beavis and Butt-Head do have a movie called Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. A great 90s movie connected to a popular cartoon movie was slowly becoming common. This also was a good longer story with the characters as well. Some surprisingly funny moments that I still remembered to this day.
More surprising than that, Bruce Willis yes the famous actor who recently retired from acting. Well he's actually in this movie, which was unusual for Willis. Honestly, I do praise this movie a lot. There's a strong possibility, parts of it's success allowed King of the Hill to happened. Beavis and Butt-Head had surprising success for it's time.
1. Brought back a few times
Believe it or not, Beavis and Butt-Head got brought back once for MTV a couple years ago. Now it's officially coming back again for two additional seasons. They also getting another movie as well, people can't get enough of these guys lol. Slowly not many animated shows returns from being canceled more than once.
Sadly this newer reboot won't include music videos. At the same time, we're getting more stories in it's place. So for me personally I could accept that. Beavis and Butt-Head is still one of the most talked about MTV shows ever. If it goes well, Beavis and Butt-Head will have ten seasons not counting the original shorts that inspired the show.
The fact this is getting a third run alone is a testament. Not only of itself but also how much the fans wanted more of them even after all these years. There's no question, Beavis and Butt-Head became one of the most famous duos in television history. It won't surprise me Beavis and Butt-Head came back a third time but it's all about them making fun of music videos lol.
