Jack Red reviews Jetpac Refuelled (Rare Replay)

Hello everyone I'm Jack Red, although I haven't fully done a playthrough on today's game. I felt I seen enough of it to do a review. Today, I'm here to talk about Jetpac Refuelled. A game from Xbox 360 section of Rare Replay. I will be sharing some interesting facts relating to this franchise while I review this game.

Jetpac Refuelled is an Xbox Live Arcade remake of ZX Spectrum game Jetpac. You play as Jetman whose puts ships & robots together then fill em up. There's a lot of differences here I need to talk about. The original Jetpac didn't have an ending instead after a point the game loop stages endlessly. There's an ending to this version.

Now you can use bombs to clear the path. Which can be pretty helpful especially when your ship or robot ready to go. Yet the ground section filled with enemies sometimes most of the screen. You also have a time limit to get through the stage or lose a life. Dying prior to being timed out will not affect the time limit.

Another major difference is a lot more stage designs are present. Can you believe this small game has one hundred twenty eight stages? The original itself had a handful of levels. Now, that's way more I imagine this game would have. The audio department is very solid here in every category despite not many songs. You also get the original version with no check point system.

Which means if you are going for it's solo achievement, you have to do it without getting game over. Thankfully, the newer version not only lets you start from level 1. You also can start on levels that you put rockets or robots together. Just make sure you beat em before losing all of your lifes or the previous check point limit you start from again.

Some levels enemies can be very frustrating to avoid. Like Level 25, there's these purplish respawning enemies that will quickly respawn behind you. Which is perfect for a few score achievements single player. I struggled getting the strategy for that down due to sometimes being quickly over whelmed. Thankfully, there's no boss fights at all in this game.

Simply going by what I have played of their work. The final boss would likely be too much for this game. You also can play multiplayer, just know not many people are playing it. I'm willing to help others get a few multiplayer achievements. Jetpac Refuelled is a decent game that has too many levels. I don't often say much about the level count in my reviews.

I will say I love Jetman's appearance in this game. The achievements are still fun to go for. This was a great attempt to bring back the franchise. Sadly, it didn't due to not enough people were interested. Keep in mind, most reviewers gave it great reviews. I think simply because they released it as an XBLA title.

They loss out on the bigger profit they could've gain from this game. The same can be said for the first two Banjo-Kazooie games as well as Perfect Dark since they're also XBLA titles. In a sense, this would be the worst of those games in Rare Replay. This is a rare case that being the worst isn't so bad. It does offer a lot to make up for it's short coming.

You also can earn lifes as well as bombs. I should mention in multiplayer you automatically have infinite lifes. Some levels if you know the trick can greatly help your process the next few levels. Don't count too much on it though. Now I'm not saying this is Battletoads NES hard, hell no. It's no where near as unforgiving.

Some stages having too many enemies could easily turn people off. Except someone like Markiplier whose crazy enough to keep on going lol. Some level names are referencing other Rare franchises which I like a lot. It's a challenging game yet satisfying when you get past levels you're struggling on. The artwork itself is beautifully done even by XBLA's standards.

Jetpac Refuelled may not necessary be the best Xbox 360 game within Rare Replay. You're still going to have a great time playing it. Honestly, this game is greatly underrated for what it brings to the table. Possibly overlooked due to a lot of similar ports on the same console. A lot of classic arcade games had a similar treatment likely another reason this game didn't sell well.
