Special thanks goes to Microsoft for putting Goat Simulator: Remastered on Game Pass last month.
Goat Simulator: Remastered (2024)
Like a lot of people I originally found out about this game through a showcase PlayStation done. Such a weird trailer that nearly perfectly described the entire experience. I am not kidding you go watch that announcement trailer. Then you play this within minutes it all makes sense. I usually don't play many simulator games.
To be honest, it's one of those genres my wife more into it. The closest thing I played to this funny enough is Garry's Mod. You actually could fully recreate this remastered game in that. There's a lot of stuff I gotta talk about. You get the main game called Goat Simulator: GoatVille. This is the game most people think of when they talk about Goat Simulator.
There's six additional sections you also can play. All of them notably differs from GoatVille. Game play wise it's rather interesting for many reasons. You get challenges you can complete with some unlocking stuff. You quickly notice some similarities to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. Well the better Tony Hawk games anyway.
They hid so many jokes across of these. I can tell you a lot of them are notably hilarious. This game kinda that JackAss game we never gotten. Even Steve-O would agree with that. Goat Simulator: Remastered is an sandbox game that allows you to explore the maps. Which do differ in size with some having hidden sections to a degree.
GoatZ is a DLC parody of zombie games mostly DayZ. You could play as originally intended as a zombie goat. You get a meter that keeps track of days. Although you can swap out to being a regular goat skin that makes you immune. You also gotta deal with zombies with the most interesting ones being zombies with paper bags on their heads.
This is obviously the darkest among all the maps. There is a little bit of a learning curve. Goat Simulator: PAYDAY is a crossover DLC that parodies many things including that franchise. Which I actually never played prior no really I haven't. Not only you play as the goat. You also get three additional animal characters to play as.
My favorite being Dolph Spaghetti whose an dolphin in a wheel chair. I do also like Valentino Salami whose a flamingo that flies. You have to go to a machine to get some challenges. Oh I'm sorry they're called pranks in this map. You also get some pranks from people around the map. I do like what they attempted to do with this crossover.
Goat Simulator: Waste of Space is ridiculous!!! It heavily parodies sci-fi with a lot of huge name franchises included. You actually get to explore the moon with some vehicles. This was even crazier than Fallout: New Vegas' Old World Blues. Which also mostly occurred on the moon. This was the only one to change how to get some of the collectibles.
Goat Simulator: Goat City Bay was a fun map. Some of absolute favorite jokes were presented here. I really wasn't expecting a parody of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!! I also loved there's an amusement park. I usually love seeing em within video games for a long time. It's one of the more interesting maps I felt.
Goat Simulator: Buck to School is an interesting one because it came from the mobile version. Which also means it has the smallest map. Despite that, you can bet this still a truly fun one. If you went in knowing it came from a mobile version. Quickly throw that out the window here. You get to explore an school map that isn't boring at all.
It kinda reminded me of another game, Bully. The fact the smallest map had such an impact on me. You know this is way better than you possibly ever imagine. I save my personal favorite for last. The most unique of an experience this has to offer. Even more than GoatZ for that matter. Goat MMO Simulator is a true master piece.
You could even say because how different it is from the other maps. It could be seen as it's own game. It's a parody of Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games aka MMORPG for short. Every single time you start it up. The game randomly generates an username. Don't worry your process is saved.
This is by far the biggest map the game has to offer. You can get a lot of quests as you explore. You also can quickly fully level up your goat. Also when you start up, you can choose which class you wanna play as. Every zone really felt like their own maps rather than being sections within one insane map.
I also felt the funniest jokes I notice were here as well. Like find Bilbo the Dwarf to throw him into lava. This is parodying The Lord of the Rings as well as it's prequel story The Hobbit. This quickly felt the most creative among all of them. Not to say the others were uninspired. In fact the exact opposite with some great ideas.
Let's put it this way, Goat Simulator: Remastered is way better than Saints Row reboot game. No really somehow this greatly made up for how that reboot game made me felt. Achievement/trophy hunting wise, it's an 9.5 experience. In all honestly, one of the most fun I ever had achievement hunting a game in a long time.
If it isn't obvious by now, this really never was meant to be taken seriously. Goat Simulator: Remastered goes way beyond what you might expect. It isn't about doing the usual goat stuff. Although that said stuff get parodied a lot in this. You will notice some mess up animations the longer you play this.
You can drive a lot of vehicles that do differ between the maps. You also can unlock additional skins that gets weirder. I really do mean quite weird to the point for a handful of them. I almost can't seem to find the right letters to say. You get a very great variety of skins that all do different abilities.
Some of those skins are actually different animals lol. You even can play as a whale they had to been on drugs. You still haven't heard the best feature for this remastered game. You can now swap every skin you have available across every map. This means you can play any skins meant for a particular map in any of them now.
This really opens up the possibilities within the game play. Other aspects of the game play that's meant to help you find your way around does differ a bit. Some are notably a little easier than others to follow. This really felt like it had something for everyone. This is among my favorite remastered sandbox games hands down!!!
It's notably better than Batman: Return to Arkham. Which I previously played both remastered Batman games through Game Pass. Personally this isn't quite the best remaster I played this year. It's among the finest I did play though. Goat Simulator: Remastered is a game filled with the right stuff to keep fun for a lot of hours.
The other best part is there's nothing additional to buy either. You literately get everything including DLCS from the PC version. This is as close to the definitive version of the game you're going to get. I may not requested this remastered game. I'm sure glad I finally gave it a chance. Parts of this reminded me of Postal series just not as offensive as well as disgusting.
Goat Simulator: Remastered fully made use of every map including the hidden sections. Saints Row reboot failed to do that including the newer map sections added in. I simply love you can be truly creative when achievement hunting or completing challenges. Even having chaos is truly a lot of fun as well.
This has to be among the most ridiculous goat characters I ever heard of. You get all of this for a great price or play it through Game Pass like me for cheaper. Regardless which route you go, Goat Simulator: Remastered is one hell of a party pun very intended lol. This is among the most surprising 2024 games I played this year.
