Doc Ketchum's Murder Circus is a follow up event to the famous Boot Hill mission. You get an call from Kevin telling the Boss aka you about it. Then they had to make it more clear in a sorta "derp" way. The Boss isn't invited because they want a new winner. There's four new playable characters that plays somewhat differently.
I will say this is way better than Dead Rising 4's multiplayer, yeah let's not talk about it. Similar to that story mission, it takes place on Boot Hill once again. You face waves of enemies while doing challenges as well as unlocking chests for some decent stuff. There's a few notable problems that makes this not a rememberable experience.
For starters, the difficulty is barely noticeable. You also have a different map limits from the main game. I'm glad it isn't you're being forced to turn away like that. They decided if you don't go back from those sections, you'll die from gas. It's a little annoying but the worst part is sometimes you can't tell exactly which areas you aren't allowed to go.
The only way to know is when you start seeing gas showing up. Otherwise, you are allowed to explore there. There's not enough variety of enemies to keep this mini game interesting. Let's not compare this to the Xbox One dlc mini game for Dead Rising 3. I rather be playing more rounds in that. All four characters can level up to 8.
For the most part, it's too easy to tell where the chests are. There isn't much bosses wise either with the main bosses being each character's rivals. You have to reach level 8 with them. The next run at the end of it, your rivals shows up. Yes they are notably different from each other. The only real issue is how this mini game works with rng just isn't clear.
I played a lot of runs with Artemis just to have another shot at a secret achievement. I ended up starting a new save working up to unlocking the mini game again. I gotten Artemis to level 8 to finally live stream the finalized run he has where he faces. Wait for it, Professor Genki!!! Yes Professor Genki is surprisingly in the game after all.
After a few runs, you become too good at it. You can rely on the move to take out enemies while regaining health. You can use boot coins, it's in game money for upgrades. The big issue with majority of them is they all play int the randomness factor. You may or may not get what you want in these runs. Even if you bought the loot upgrade giving you two upgrades instead of just one.
There isn't much variety which section of Boot Hill you play in every run you do. It does try to be different but again you quickly get use to all the different lay outs. It kinda no long matters anymore. I even felt Exoprimal did better with that in comparison. Speaking of the horde of enemies, it's kinda too low of the amount.
When you see Murder Circus, you could've wanna be more over whelmed than normal. Like in a couple story missions filled with enemies. I think the highest I recalled seeing was around 33 enemies in an challenge. The challenges are always exactly the same. Kill all the enemies then claim your prizes. I actually recommend playing Smash TV over this!!!
This mini game felt like a huge let down from the very story mission you had to play to unlock it. More brutally honest, it felt like an after thought. Not in the same way as the previous big update dlc. This is slightly more fun as well as interesting. The appeal quickly goes away however. In all honestly, the achievements for the most part was also mostly too straight forward.
The longer achievements is play through runs with their rivals enabled. They have to show up too, you win the mini game as the characters. The other real annoying achievement was the secret achievement I already mentioned. I very recently made a short achievement guide video to maybe help some people out.
Things aren't looking good for this game. Especially after Postal 4 balanced back from it's big update. So you know Saints Row reboot currently being called the worst Saints Row game yet. Personally, I don't think it's that bad of an game. I had played games much worst than this. I'm hoping for a miracle with the next big update next month.
A big month for me because not only it's my amazing wife's birthday. Later the same month will mark being married for eight years. Time sure flies right lol. This mini game just felt it needed more variety. The money system also played into later runs being easier. Honestly, it could be fun just lacks a proper replay value it desperately needs.
