Of course we start from the beginning with Batman vs Spider-Man. These two have a lot in common with the list getting bigger overtime. Obviously, this had to happen on Death Battle. Yes it technically was a stomp but not a bad one. Also there were ways Batman could win. We got lucky with this being the start.
Next up is one of their backup episodes in the event of delays. Remember when delays would occur with this show, virtually no longer a problem. Batman returns to face Captain America. Although, this was a good, close fight with plenty of ways both characters can win. The episode including the fight itself seems to be a little on the short side.
Honestly, I'm happy with the episode but Batman didn't do much differently from his previous episode. Even some people question how did Captain America die like that. I was fine with this episode happening just caught me off guard at the time. I will say I do like Captain America as well as Spider-Man to a degree.
His next appearance was helping Terry in his fight against Spider-Man 2099. Yes Batman Beyond vs Spider-Man 2099, which seems to be one of the bigger comic book fight debates that's virtually everywhere. This was a different usage of the character I quickly got behind. Then they done the unthinkable next.
One of the very few episodes just from the announcements that really piss me off. It still one of my absolute least favorite Marvel vs DC episodes to date. Batman vs Black Panther, yes I do agree they have a lot in common too. This episode presents a few major problems. First off why Batman only facing Marvel super heroes?
Clearly they covered so many franchises by that point with even more since then. So I felt they didn't wanna risk Batman facing someone not from Marvel on purpose. Just hear me out, to them they can get Batman episodes out faster simply by putting him against an Marvel character.
The very definition of cheapness in my book. Batman does even less stuff new in the actual fight. Not that it mattered because he virtually was screwed against Black Panther. He got slightly stomped stats wise, not as bad against Spider-Man. The big issue is Black Panther's suit itself.
This suit was insanely durable with the ability to absorb force. Which Black Panther can use a few ways during combat. The level of tech alone trumps those Batman himself uses from his own company. Most of Batman's arsenal virtually useless right off the bat. There's no way Batman could out fight Black Panther on his own.
Let's go a step further down the crap scale. Spider-Gwen vs Batgirl, this is when we know the show had too much Batman. Not only this virtually was similar to Batman vs Spider-Man with the only real different being a female variation of that fight. Batgirl was even less prepared than Batman to face someone like this alone.
Spider-Gwen is a weird take on Spider-Man concept. In most universes, Peter Parker whose Spider-Man failed to save Gwen Stacy from Green Goblin. But in this one universe, it's reversed that Parker dies instead. Gwen decided to become Spider-Gwen virtually being that universe's replacement of Spider-Man.
This means Spider-Gwen ultimately was more prepared for everything than the more experienced Barbara Gordon. A fight that virtually no one was even surprised Spider-Gwen won. I would even say one of my least favorite among Marvel vs DC fights as well as 3D fights. To me, it truly doesn't even deserve to be done in 3D but here we are with a poor decision.
DBX itself had two episodes with Batman. Batman vs Scorpion which took place shortly after Venom vs Bane episode. The later one also became it's own Death Battle episode. A fight that got publicly refused by the team a few times. Technically making this Batman's fifth fight on the show to date. The predictable Marvel vs DC pattern the Dark Knight can't escape.
We are talking about Batman vs Iron Man. Before I talked about that, we also had several versions of Batman in an episode of Death Race as well. Don't you think that's too much Batman? To be fair, I still enjoyed that episode a lot. I wasn't a fan of either DBX fight, I heavily disliked that spin off show myself.
Batman among a handful of characters got revealed late into Season 7. They started a few months gap for Death Race, a lot of us knew who exactly he was going to face. I was very upset by the announcement but the episode actually won me over. I would even say this was the best portrayal of Batman so far hands down.
There's plenty of stuff Batman haven't done before that was very interesting. If it weren't for the Hellbat suit, this fight would never get an official Death Battle episode. Clearly these two have a lot in common as well. This turned out to be the most refreshing usage of Batman to date. I should point out The Desk of Death Battle, another spin off show I can't stand done a lot of Batman theme episodes.
Even the guys responsible for the web show heavily are Batman fans. There's plenty of potential opponents away from Marvel universe unless you are too chicken to do it. Clearly they are Batman obsessed to the point you are becoming tired of such an awesome comic book character. Here's the bottom line either use another universe against Batman or stop using Bruce Wayne altogether.
Also allowing the abomination that Spider-Gwen vs Batgirl means inevitably. We are going to get more unneeded fights. I will say this out of respect, Winter Soldier vs Red Hood was a more balanced fight. Even for a live action fight, it's done amazingly well. It can be considered a follow up to Batman vs Captain America.
So I felt that's part of what's still good from those episodes. Sadly, some of the big requests among the villains is very clear cut. I felt they're hype will quickly die out faster than the one dying in those episodes. End of the day, Batman usage among all these Death Battle shows is becoming too much. We get it you love Batman but you are making some of us not want to be Batman fans anymore.
Yes there does exist ways to ruin one's love for things. Batman doesn't need a lot of these videos made. By this point, I no longer want Batman Who Laugh on their show. All that's going to do at this point likely follow the usual, predictable pattern. Obviously facing someone from Marvel once again. Rather than a more interesting choice from outside both Marvel and DC universes.
Please lay Batman down to rest. He's done plenty already on your show don't add much unneeded salt to his legacy. Also, most of us are very tired of so many Marvel vs DC fights. We demand either stop using those characters altogether or actually give us a truly decent fight among them. I hate to be the one to tell you guys this, the way Season 9 is going.
Your fans is growing tired of the constant comic book character usage, why don't you spice it up? There's plenty of other stuff to pull characters from like video games, shows and movies to name a few. You could remove all other episodes to make Marvel vs DC fights their own show, that's how many of them they are now.
