Hello everyone I'm XboxClown89, oh okay you knew I also had to talk about Resident Evil: Requiem trailer. I actually found out the day after it's announced. I do like starting with Resident Evil Village. People knew these going to be main numbered entries. There's some huge surprises in this trailer a lot of people discussing right now.
I found out days later this FBI lady you play as actually the daughter of Alyssa from Resident Evil Outbreak series. In Resident Evil 7, there's an newspaper reference to her. Further confirming those were canon spin off games. They also occurred within the events of Raccoon City. For those new to the series Resident Evil 2 and 3: Nemesis respectively.
Speaking of Raccoon City, we finally get to see the damaged city years later. Which I didn't think Capcom ever going to do. This was one of a few cities in the main Resident Evil timeline destroyed by an viral outbreak. Not to mention that joke in a Robot Chicken sketch with Yoshi lol. They also confirmed she's getting pursue by a monster.
This is becoming a recurring theme in the series. Personally it's not one I'm a huge fan of myself. Although I do get why some people enjoys it. Especially those obsessed with Lady Dimitrescu. I'm quite excited to explore Raccoon City once again. I also know some people quickly jump onto saying it's Capcom attempting Fallout.
Fallout as in the famous Bethesda game series. They already in an sense done that a few ways. Resident Evil: Extinction with parts of the later RE movies done that. They also done it in the future portions of the canceled live action RE Netflix show. Although Bert Wesker gave a great point about infinite breadsticks lol.
The fact we get to play as an FBI agent is a little difference. Previously we got to play as Leon whose an government agent. I won't be surprise if BSAA shows up. In fact, some characters you play as in Resident Evil 6 were government agents. Usually these main RE games are quite amazing. I'm already very hyped to play this next year.
I also noticed the layout of the Police Station was more directly taken from the remakes. Indirectly that's stating those versions replaced the classic ones. It's true some changes were meant to better tie in with the later story stuff. I personally felt they should've kept the layout to the original design. I don't even think it's a matter of limitations with the engine either.
We may get something regarding the Outbreak characters as well. The assumption is all of them died during that incident. A huge if Daniel from Resident Evil: Resistance shows up would be a nice surprise. The game already looks great to begin with. Maybe Billy Coen from Resident Evil 0 returns as well. There's a few possibilities they could explore.
I don't think they're going to have Jake meet his aunt whose now in control of Natalia's body yet. Although that's inevitably going to happen. Considering how long this franchise been going for. You start to wonder when Capcom might reboot the main RE timeline. How much further can they go before they have to start over?
You also can tell a lot of people that worked on Resident Evil 7 and Village came back for this. This should be among the most wanted games of 2026 for a lot of people. Resident Evil always delivers a truly unforgettable experience. For a long time, Resident Evil constantly been one of Capcom's highest grossing video game franchises.
I highly doubt they do anything further with Rose Winters. Also considering they rushed out the conclusion to that story arc. I do think there could be some good references to be made though. It also would make sense to start another viral incident at a damaged city. Whoever would consider checking such a location in the first place?
I don't even think Albert Wesker would've done that. Resident Evil: Requiem seems like an interesting entry for how little they shown. I also know some bias people going to say something on the lines of. "Oh how original they going back to Raccoon City!!!" Maybe this is what the franchise needed. Sure a lot of spin off games took place there I can't argue that.
What I can argue with though is there's a great reason we simply don't know why we're exploring it again. Let's take Resident Evil 5 for an example. We found out about the Ebola Virus that inspired the creation of a few viruses from Umbrella Corporation. In some ways more back story getting explored. Even in Village, Spencer was mentored by Miranda.
It's possible not everything was finished. Let's be honest the trailer confirms something on the lines of that. I do wanna say how much of the damaged city we get to explore. I do expect more of a variety of enemies than Resident Evil 7. They even could bring some classic RE monsters back unexpectedly. Like a few hunters or crimson heads for that matter.
It's going to be a home run unlike Dead Rising 4. Which attempted to take things back where it begun at. Not only that Capcom going to do DLCs to a degree. Let's hope it's an interesting variety. I might have to hold off fully getting the game for a few great reasons. Resident Evil: Requiem about to open a huge can of worms!!!
